3281  Other / Meta / Re: Reporter Statistics on: December 04, 2018, 09:50:55 PM
It will be fun to see, it is not really accurate as sometimes I make a list and report the whole list in a PM to the mods instead of report every single case.

New update :
Quote
You have reported 2401 posts with 100% accuracy (2336 good, 13 bad, 52 unhandled).
And I'm not so active the last few months...

Sorry, this will be longer than usual Smiley

You've made me interested about the possible bot network, so I've started to check the registered accounts from 2465374 to 2465600 (I've had some free time, which is a rare thing nowdays Smiley )
Found no bot network but imagine what, plagiarism...
I've found 16 user IDs who were active in the past week (16 out of the nearly 300) and started to check the last one 2465600 jobair123
I've selected the longest sentence in the post archive and google'd it: "I am particularly interested to know that how come at the primary level you are aspiring to create the thinking community"
And bannnnngggg:
medium.com

Great, if I could have some free time I could possibly bang many of those accounts. In almost every case I stumble upon there are clues for hidden connections between the accounts. If you dig deep enough you can expose hundreds maybe thousands of accounts. They do not try to cover their tracks, because they know that it's not likely some to go after them, so they just spam freely around.

I don't want to move from the subject of the OP so you are welcome to the CLUB If you want to post your investigation.

We can't do much about it. All we can do is to get them banned and which raises the level of evil for the IP.
That's all we can do

Very lazy copy-pasters  Roll Eyes

You can report that as plagiarism here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1926895.0.
The lazy guy will be banned.
I've reported similar one earlier today.

Note, Both have very close user IDs. It is a big change to be part of a bot network.
3286  Other / Meta / Re: Why don't we have a Hardware Wallets forum? on: December 04, 2018, 12:02:31 AM
Call me a necrobumper here but If you go to the Alternative clients you'll find that huge part of the posts are for discussing the HW.
As an owner of one, I would push the suggestion to create a separate section for the HW. I hope you'll see the need now.
3287  Other / Meta / Re: This Airdrop thread deserved to be deleted on: December 03, 2018, 11:49:43 PM
Haha, just posted the same in my thread a second ago Cheesy
I think it's gonna be trashed soon. Reported it.
Another bull# Airdrop, filled for two days with 16 + pages with Good projet spam.
Reported a few, I'll report the whole thread at the end.  If anyone wants to join you are most welcome Wink

BTW, based on the rules, the OP is breaking this rule :

You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

And all those posting bull# are breaking this rule :

Quote
Anyone posting info from their bounty application (usernames, addresses, etc.) or anything alongside the lines of "joined X", "looking forward to getting X", "thanks for the opportunity", "filled out form", "signed up for X", "applied", "following / liked / retweeted X" when such data is not required or the requirement is against the forum's rules risk having their account banned. These are extremely low quality posts that generate massive amounts of spam, drowning out any legitimate discussion these threads may posses.

3291  Other / Meta / Re: Can we restrict user registerations somehow? on: December 03, 2018, 10:41:31 PM

I guess you took my comment wrong. I don't suggest anything, just pointing out the the main problems and the real solution to what everyone is wining about.
It is completely clear none of those suggestions (as you call them) will be ever implemented, so no worries.
The whole idea if there are free money on the table, there's always someone trying get more (all) so it's no way to have fair shares for everyone.

I wanted to see how many posts I could get removed, planning to open a topic in Meta asking how much spam a user can post before he gets banned. But then I used this as a comment with my report:
~

I was thinking to ask the same because sometimes I report more then 10-20 post of a user and he is not banned, sometimes it takes only 5.
It's up to a each moderator's policy. Sometimes some easy reports get handled very quickly but in between them there are reports like posting in other language in English section and it takes a few more hours to be handled.
3293  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Warning - the SEC is prosecuting promoters of scam ICOs on: December 03, 2018, 06:20:52 PM
Finally we don't need to chase the spammers any longer, now SEC will be after them Cheesy

3294  Other / Meta / Re: Can we restrict user registerations somehow? on: December 03, 2018, 12:33:16 PM
We have been chewing this topic for more than a year now. It is clear that more restrictions will not come any time soon ( or at all).
Basically you have two main problems :
-Money from advertising.
-Scammers.

When you have money involved like for advertising the genuine idea is really brilliant but also very utopian. It's almost impossible to stop those who try to abuse them and there is no way to control anonymous entities to follow some rules based only on moral values.
The only way to fight them back is just to scratch them off the forum. The Ann section has to go, together with the bounties, airdrops, and sig. campaigns, then the bots will be gone (almost, part of them will move to service section, but just for a while, keep reading).
Then your spam, bot and shitposting problems will be solved.

Then we have to focus on the scammers problem. Again, there is no way to stop the scammers (for the same reasons I mentioned above) if you do not take their playground away- the Markedplace, which will be a disaster for many people but again, this is the core of the problem, there is no way to go around it and apply some "fixes". They just gonna fail, again...

If those 2 problems are solved, the forum will turn into a quite place for discussions and development, and 99.9% of the active users at the moment will be gone. Ivory Tower will be blossoming again, and the Off-topic section will have only The Round- Earth Speculation thread active Wink

No money = No problem.

BTW some of the old users may return. Maybe satoshi will show up again, if he likes the new environment
3295  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor users can now exchange in wallet (beta) on: December 03, 2018, 12:07:48 PM
If it's a third-party service then you do not need go trough the KYC shit, just keep using the Trezor wallet as before.  If you are OK with the KYC Policy then you can use this service, it's up to the user. I don't see the big deal with the security flaws .

Quote from the article.

It’s an optional service. If KYC will be enforced by those services, user will know it and can refuse to continue — Decentralized exchanges are, of course, being evaluated.

On the other hand if they implement KYC for to use the wallet, then this will be a certain death to Trezor or whoever else try to enforce this policy on a wallet.
3296  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trezor password manager on: December 03, 2018, 11:53:57 AM
I'm also considering using a password manager. At the moment everything is stored on paper and in my mind which is not the best solution.
I bought Trezor but haven't used that feature yet. I'll keep an eye on this thread for more reviews.
I normally don't trust anything digital as there's always a way to hack it, but it I might give it a go and store some passwords there.

3298  Other / Meta / Re: Please mods nuke these 14 accounts on: December 01, 2018, 09:28:16 PM
Just a note here, the registration dates you have posted for the last 4 accounts to not match to the actual registration dates I guess you have copied them from those above to keep the formatting.

Just noticed that #10 and #12 are registered on the same second and I was wondering how this could be possible, but then I checked the profiles, and saw that the second account is registered today with a different time.
3299  Other / Meta / Re: Please mods nuke these 10 accounts on: November 30, 2018, 11:56:47 PM
I asked some time ago for a "report a profile" button so we can report accounts which have no posts and skip posting threads like this one, but still nothing.
