3281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another High Transaction Fee Again(about 25BTC) on: June 01, 2015, 02:24:08 PM
I wonder how fast that transaction went with that huge fee. The miners will be really happy I guess.
3282  Economy / Economics / Re: Japanese tax regimes depress economy on: May 31, 2015, 03:03:20 PM
At least japan is dealing with his own debt, which is in it's majority all internal debt. It means it owes money to his own country only. Meanwhile, most nations out there are stuck in debt that they owe to other countries, which is a much trickier situation.
3283  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold Losing It's Shine? on: May 31, 2015, 03:01:38 PM
Gold still got the massive network effect, everyone in the world has the mental image of gold = wealth and luxury. Im not worried at all about it.
What gold lacks and Bitcoin has tho, is the excitement of novelty and revolution. Gold feels old and established and pretty boring, Bitcoin is an exciting rollercoaster into the future.
3284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin announcement explanation please. on: May 31, 2015, 02:55:28 PM
@OP
I'd just forget about BTC for a little while and get Litecoin, Dogecoin and some other alts with good reputation. They won't be affected in a negative way by all this. Most people with a brain will choose that route. Won't be a mistake to hold some Litecoin in case the morons blow up the Titanic.

Also for some understanding look at this crap:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=919629.0

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=941331.0

Litcoin is not the answer here, neither is Doge and most other alt-coins. Why because they also have the same fixed blocksize issue and furthermore those communities have done nothing about fixed blocksize limits in spite of the debate that has been raging in the Bitcoin community for years. In order to use an alt-coin as part of a hedge against the 1 MB blocksize limit on needs to spend the time, do the research and pick an alt-coin that does not have this issue.  Otherwise it is just jumping out of the frying pan into the fire.

someone has proposed maidsafe, but you can't even call it an altcoin, right now every alt is affected by this, because they are just clone, i don't know right now if coin that run with cryptonote are affected to, but certainly they are, it's not a problem for those alt because they have still ridiculous numbers of Transactions per second, that's why newbie like "hund" can't see the difference

I think Monero isn't affected by this. Maidsafe is also an excellent way to split your Bitcoin in dodgy situations like this. It Safecoin will never suffer from blockchain related issues.
3285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So the destruction of Bitcoin is now official? on: May 31, 2015, 02:51:45 PM
Remember guys...  Safehaven coin = LTC.  See you there when the madness really starts.

LTC will just follow BTC.

Can you show the law that states this?

Not this time, mate.
Bitcoin crashes and does not recover while Litecoin flashcrashes with it and then goes to the fuckin' moon!

I'm already in it big time with additional fiat and btc on the sidelines for the flashcrash. I'm so ready for this!!!

PUMP LITECOIN ALREADY! WE DON'T WANT TO STAND THERE WITH PANTS DOWN WHEN BITCOIN DIES OFF! WE NEED LITECOIN ON ONE BILLION NOW FOR THE SAKE OF CRYPTOCURRENCY!!! THE SUCCESS OF CRYPTO CAN NOT DEPEND ON BITCOIN OR GAVIN ALONE!!! LITECOIN NOW!!!

Lol, it's okay Mr LTC bagholder. Yes, LTC will meet the same fate as BTC eventually, they both have a blocksize limit, even if it will take more time for LTC to achieve that fate, it's a guaranteed one. The advantage BTC has is it will solve it better than the rest of the coins.
And for the ones against the 20MB fork: what is your fucking solution you geniuses? should we just wait and see what happens once we reach the limit?
3286  Economy / Economics / Re: Would any government allow foreign currency to circulate in domestic economy? on: May 31, 2015, 02:47:35 PM
I was in Mexico just last weekend and I can assure you that the USD is accepted at many businesses there.  You can sometimes even get a better price/exchange rate when paying in USD.
It all comes down to the merchant really. Even if there is a law that says you cannot accept foreign currencies, it doesnt even matter, as a merchant you can say okay, give me your pounds, or whatever, and you store the guy's pounds and then exchange them for your local currency. As long as you dont convert regularly it wil not raise any alarms and you can get away with it. Of course this only works with cash transactions.
3287  Economy / Speculation / Re: Here comes the drop... on: May 30, 2015, 04:11:55 PM
"Prepare for the drop", "here comes the drop"... what are you, Skrillex? Gotta take a vacation from that FUDding man, it's almost june and weather is getting nice outside.
3288  Economy / Economics / Re: I need bitcoin to be $690 to break even.....will I make it? on: May 30, 2015, 04:10:03 PM
Too many doubts and crucial moments happening as we speak. Don't expect a big uptrend on the price for at least 1 and a half year. Later on, it will reach ATH again for sure, and double it minimum.
3289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some Thoughts on Silk Road on: May 30, 2015, 04:04:45 PM
Op, you should actually post the content of the article in the op because this just seems like blogspam to me.

Well, some aspects of this story are really true, such as "Silk Road will never go away". As long as Bitcoin/Altcoins exist, things can be purchased relatively anonymously and it let's criminals get hold of "money" easier.

I think the lesson learned by silk road is that having a large center of business is a bad thing.  It makes it vulnerable to shut down.  So I imagine that anyone doing something illegal would turn to non-centralized communication, maybe something like skype to communicate.  So certain black market dealers would become known for their specialty and if one of them got caught then the rest would still be out there dealing.

I have no experience with this stuff so I could be way off base here.

Skype is easily monitored. It is centralized.

Agreed. It's hilarious that he thinks skype it decentralised, epsecially because it is easily monitored and the NSA already have access to Skype chats. Pretty much the only thing they can't get their hands on are encrypted messages. I'm all for more decentralized systems in both instant messaging and markets and hope they become widespread soon as they're massively needed with the recent darknet takedowns and all the NSA spying revelations.

Yeah, i don't think he gets what the concept of decentralized means. Skype runs on servers somewhere, which means it's centralized as hell.
They are never going to give a fuck about what you say over there tho, unless you are a serious criminal.
I think Tox was a project aiming at being some sort of decentralized anonymous Skype.
3290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So the destruction of Bitcoin is now official? on: May 30, 2015, 04:00:58 PM
What do you mean by 20MB fuckery? Don't you see we need 20MB sooner or later? don't you see the current transaction per second of the current Bitcoin is beyond pathetic compared to VISA etc? dont you see 20MB would solve those problems? Dont you see if we want Bitcoin to become mainstream, we need bigger blocks? Jesus Christ guys, get some perspective.
What will happen is only morons will keep mining the deprecated 1MB fork and it will eventually die.

Another opinion:

What do you think if the blockSize will be random? Not even 1 MB not even 20 MB  Roll Eyes.

What was this test like? Did they test visa+mastercard+paypal+major banks transaction per second volume? because that is what Bitcoin should be aiming at. Anything less is shit.
3291  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price Prediction 2015 ฿ on: May 29, 2015, 03:31:41 PM
Dreamers $1000  Cheesy I have voted $200-$300 steady all year until even after the halving but I do hope the dreamers are right and the pessimists are wrong lol

Dreamers yes, but it never hurts to dream right? lol.

As long ones head in reality and have more sense its just a dream they should be seeing the price realistic points based on market caps.

welcome in the speculation section of the forum. a paradise for dreamers and doomthinkers. those who are realistic are scarce.

Yeah true... Even I was too much speculative and was talking a lot about pumps and dumps, but time taught me what is actually happening...
I have learnt a lot during these days, or I would say months, how the price have been a lot stable between $200 - $300 range...

I bet Satoshi is the most happiest person as he also might be wanting this stability along with the creation of BTC...

stability is the key. it gives people confidence. if at some point the price reaches the stability of lets say high quality stocks, more people would choose bitcoin as their main storage of value. but will this ever happen...?

Patience it will happen just needs time but we dont like to w8, we all want now for price to go up.
More and more people are involved some more other less but every way you go you have something with it.
1-2 years and you will see more stores will accepting btc and more companies will give there employers paycheck in btc.

At one point you'll not even want to switch to fiat, because you'll feel you are losing money. It will be like selling gold. There is always an underlying feeling of guilt when you sell some gold for dollars. This will happen once people see the beauty of Bitcoin.
3292  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do not expect any major rally soon on: May 29, 2015, 03:17:22 PM
I think we could enter the beginning of a potential bubble by the end of 2016.
There are a number of things that could be bullish for the price -

NY Bitlicense
COIN ETF
Gemini Exchange

Plus we have adoption creeping up all the time, new businesses, corporations integrating bitcoin into their payment systems.
The halving in 2016 could play a big part too, naturally the price will rise & the amount of coins supplied will be less, people may make a move in autumn to buy these cheap coins before the price goes up.

Don't be so negative my friend, the coins are cheap atm, I advise you all to buy whilst you still can.

Honestly, I hope we have 2+ years of cheap price. In the future it will be incredibly hard to make 1 BTC monthly. Now if you are lucky to have a decent salary, it's pretty easy to cut fiat on irrelevant crap and be buying BTC monthly and storing it.
3293  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: May 29, 2015, 03:15:16 PM
One important reason they do not use it is the fluctuations of bitcoin prices

Most companies tend to avoid fluctuations. Companies will sell most of their BTC holding if price were to drop significantly

If bitcoin has been used by many company I am sure the price will go to the moon in next year and everybody will start to invest in bitcoin for sure

All big companies are aware of Bitcoin and will use it as it will fit them.

Most companies do aware of it but the fact is that BTC is not actually usefull in most of the companies sale as most people still dont have any knowledge yet of BTC . This will hinder their sale if they were to only accept BTC, that is why most companies that accept BTC accept FIAT as well, this makes BTC not usefull as things could be purchase with FIAT rather than BTC.

Also that Microsoft do accept BTC for some sale but it has yet make any significant effect so it is not a guarantee that if a big company was to accept BTC then it will make a significant effect

True, most aren't ready yet to accept BTC only, it would be like being in 1990 and acceping electronic email only and ditching paper mail. Time will come, we are just still 10+ years from that tho.
Some have found a niche and are making great BTC only, namely amagimetals, they went BTC only and the business is going smooth.
3294  Economy / Economics / Re: The Next Step for Digital Currencies on: May 29, 2015, 03:10:33 PM
It's often argued by some people how "we need to find the next step beyond Bitcoin". Yet, they never either deliver solid arguments of why we need to go beyond Bitcoin, and how, when the blockchain does everything we need and what it doesn't, it' already being worked on to do it in the future.
3295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Core Value Proposition: Two Approaches to Understanding on: May 29, 2015, 02:55:32 PM
Bitcoin's main goal right now should be privacy. It's secure enough right now, damn it's safer than any other electric payment method on the planet.
Privacy improved with HD wallets, but it should keep improving. Right now the blockchain gives away too much unneeded information, and HD wallets were definitely a great improvement. In fact, I would make HD wallet as the only way to make and receive transactions and deprecate the old method of fixed addresses (who the hell wants to create a new address everytime you want to make a new payment, and then make a new backup everytime you create an address? it's a hassle).
3296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: U.S. Government Mining Bitcoins on: May 29, 2015, 02:52:13 PM
I can't understand why they'd need to. From their perspective they have control over the USD to a great extent and it currently dominates markets in terms of usage and as a financial tool. If they ever felt threatened by the existence of Bitcoin they could simply choose to ban it by passing legislation - and you're not going to see the disappearance of the USD without the disappearance of America itself. It's so incredibly unlikely that I doubt the US government would even be worried, at best Bitcoin can co-exist with other currencies - I doubt I'll see a day when Bitcoin dominates all currencies.

Banning BTC would only bring more attention to it. It could potentially hurt it mainstream adoption wise, but it will forever be alive as a sort of cryto anarchy currency and keep growing infinitely in the deep web.
3297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brain Wallet hacked, suspect bitcoin talk hackers. on: May 29, 2015, 02:49:29 PM
That sounds bad, but I dont understand how it could get around root access in linux? it is not a simple mission to do anything like that surely??

I'm not an expert on Linux security - but IIRC linux is incredibly well locked down in terms of user privileges - far more so than Windows. As long as you don't run around as a superuser account all day, generally even if malware gets in you should be ok. Not to mention that it is rather rare for malware to target Linux given that it is used by such a small percentage of people. I do think it more likely that the hacker managed to access your coins via working out your password then bruteforcing brain wallets.

There's no way someone randomly typed out the password. You either find out or bruteforce it. Now, he sad he was using the same password that he uses here, but x3 for his brainwallet... that's pretty much it IMO. You should never use the same password twice, specially passwords you use in public forums.

3299  Economy / Speculation / Re: I cannot believe the price does not move after NYSE news on: May 21, 2015, 03:22:27 PM
It did make a impact... My neighbour knows I am Bitcoin Crazy, and he stopped me in the street, to tell me, he noticed the Bitcoin price ticker on the NYSE.

His next question was... Is Bitcoin getting that big now? {This put a smile on my face... He always shot anything down, when I spoke about Bitcoin}

I anticipated his next question... Where do you buy your Bitcoin?  Grin Grin Grin

People start to notice, and need to figure out where to buy at the lowest price... So it will take time. {Education}

People here think good news should trigger insta bumps. Are you new into this?
First of all: ALL markets are manipulated. Ask yourself, do whales benefit from a huge BTC price right now? Nope, because we are still very early in the game, regular folk has still tons of doubts about it, there are tons of random BTC millonaires out there holding tons of coins that they mined/holded by pure luck. They want all that wealth of those nerd's pockets and they know they will end up panic selling if they keep this mental feeling of a down trend.
Manipulation + BTC still very early developed (its like early 90's internet) explain anything.

In other words, buy, hold, or cry later.
3300  Economy / Economics / Re: Technological unemployment is (almost) here on: May 21, 2015, 02:52:09 PM
I am libertarian, would be teenager, but sadly not anymore.

Quote
Lets use a real example simulation, no theoretical bullshit. Imagine you're a customer service worker, with unemployed wife + kid + mortgage. You earn just enough to survive (pay the bills, get food, clothes, pay mortgage rate). One day you discover that you and your colleagues are replaced by piece of software.

What do you do? Go

Find another job.
If you say, there is no job, then you should ask yourself why is this the case and study it.
What happened to the people who were copying book by hand before gutenberg ?

Please, stop being this delusional. As time goes on, there are LESS things to do by the average joe, and most are average joes, and guess what, the biggest impact in automation will be all the jobs made by the vast majority, which are average joes.

As time goes on its more and more complicated to be creative in a way that would make you money, simply because more things are already invented, let alone create something that would be able to employ a ton of people in an ever increasingly automated reality.

Again, are you seriously going to tell to the average 45 year old guy with a family that has been working on factories for life to "man up and become a creative entrepeneur?" Jesus fucking Christ, do you live on a bubble?
This man is FUCKED beyond belief if his job gets automated, unless, guess what, a state helps him with basic income so he doesn't have to start stealing and getting in risky business to feed their godamn family and himself, that's if he doesn't goes nuts and crashes a car full of gas bottles or something forced by the desperate situation.
Get a grip on reality buddy.
