3285  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: WTS Battlefield 3 + Back to Karkand Used Account on: July 12, 2012, 08:48:08 PM
just a note to all the potential buyers: this is not allowed by the TOS of origin, and you can easily lose your coins.
3286  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Interplanetary payment system on: July 12, 2012, 08:46:42 PM
By the time we get to colonize the Mars, we should have quantum entanglement effect studied in deep, so all communication, no matter how far will be instantaneous.
Btw, research shows that quantum entanglement is part of photosynthesis process, and the entanglement 'lives' much longer in organic, living things. This might lead to organic communication devices. I bet everyone is just too lazy to learn telepathy, so yeah, we'll have to use devices.
sci-fi much?
3287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Does ASIC USB Thingy Work with Macs? on: July 12, 2012, 05:19:22 PM
if you can afford a mac and a $1000 asic, you can surely afford a $200 netbook running windows/linux.
THIS +1

Yeah it costs $150, not $1000.
i meant currently available ones, not planned ones by BFL.
3288  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7870 and 7850 are here! Anyone bought yet? on: July 09, 2012, 02:38:40 PM
WHta is wrong with GUI miner? I have used it for over a year and it has served me well so far. It also is giving me 308mh/s at present with my new card. With extra flags it used to give me 207mh/s on my old hd 6770 which was very good for that card, my son has that one now. Do the other miners offer better than what I presently get? This is why I was looking for extra flags to push the hash rate up. Thank you for your reply and any further info you can share. Smiley
better kernels
3289  Other / Meta / Re: Ignore threads and users option on: July 08, 2012, 04:16:40 PM
You are aware, but the OP isn't, it seems Roll Eyes Read the screenshot, or even the last line of the OP and you'll see for yourself, you don't have to trust me.
You do know this thread is over a year old, right? "Ignore users" probably didn't exist back then.
damn necros

3295  Other / Meta / Re: 2-factor authentication for forum login? on: July 07, 2012, 01:44:46 AM
I'm refering to those operations that are mostly PM and message based, without the benefit and support of an external website that has a login. Under these circumstances some forum logins could be as valuable as bank logins to a potential thief.

What you are describing is over the counter trading.  The #bitcoin-otc's Web of Trust (WoT) can be used when negotiating and transacting.  It uses GPG authentication against the IRC bot gribble.   There are more than 2,200 users registered and so far nearly 12,000 ratings have been left, ratings which appear in the history for any -otc user.

 - http://bitcoin-otc.com/viewratings.php
 - http://bitcoin-otc.com

+1. For large trades, gpg + otc is the de facto authentication system. It's secure, has no dependencies, and allows for signed messages.

3297  Economy / Services / Re: WTS Demonoid Accounts - 23BTC for 23 Accounts! - 60% OFF! on: July 06, 2012, 10:54:44 PM
First of all, those are auctions..Secondly, those are invitations not accounts. There is a difference. All these accounts were created with unique IPs. I learned the hard way when I bought 50 invites and made all the accounts on the same computer. They all got banned in one sweep.
How does that apply in this case? no one needs to make 23 accounts. And how are accounts better than invites? As far as I know, invite gets you an account, so unless the accounts are buffered, they're pretty much the same as invites, except you can't change the username.
3298  Economy / Lending / Re: Requesting 500-1000 BTC Loan on: July 06, 2012, 10:42:50 PM
I mean I WOULD lower my loan request to 1(ONE) Jalapeno+S/H costs+bank wire cost, but that barely makes money as is. According to the calculator I've already mentioned, a Jalapeno will make about 3k in one year and that is before the diffculty increase.
well shit. too bad the difficulty increase will cut it down to 150.

confirmed.

3300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GPU Mine Litecoin & Make More BTC!! on: July 06, 2012, 10:20:01 PM
Ja¥1337, why are you acting like a cheerleader for litecoin? seeing that your account has 14 posts, and all of them are pro litecoin, i'm thinking it's a puppet account.
