3301  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Paypal wants to accept BTC now?? on: April 11, 2015, 11:30:46 AM
Why would someone use bitcoin through paypal, doesn't it have ridiculous fees? Something bitcoin was made to avoid.

It's not about the fees and use, it's about adoption I guess... Wink

Yes obviously it is only an adoption purpose, there are a lot of merchant oon ebay and other online store that are accepting paypal as method of payment. Maybe if paypal will (really) add it as other option (the fee will otherwise be very low 'respect their actual fees') and the people will start to use 'bitcoin'.
3302  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Paypal wants to accept BTC now?? on: April 11, 2015, 11:02:07 AM
we want bitcoin to crash the paypal not to support it
if paypal accepting btc then btc is supporting them

Fuck yeah.  Paypal is the absolute worst, you get fees up the ass.
Ebay is absolute garbage, you get fees and scammed up the ass.
People complain about bitcoin, look at ebay's class action suit for sellers being scammed by ebay shit policy and support.
Screw paypal and ebay, create that openbazar shit or something already.

Paypal should and will die, it is expensive, offers dick in the way of protection, and was basically created to make ebay more money.

I don't think it will die so fast, do you know what the people want? A simple and easy method of payment, and bitcoin is still not really "user-friendly" this is one of the various reasons why people don't join the bitcoin world. There are a lot of people that don't know how to use a computer (or surf on internet) and we want a mainstream adoption? How much years 'has' "this type of economic" (in comparison with cryptocurrency _ only 5-10 years).

I am recovering methamphetamin addict. This guys avatar triggers my addictions/craving for meth.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=126291

Please disallow drug pictures in avatars. TNX.
(Also I would guess such pictures are NSFW, in most companies.)

All the support to you, but I don't think that avatar is "not safe for work -NSFW" he had a discussion here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1011789.0  ([Serious] Avatar Rules Discussion) and theymos has replied :

bigbitmine and El Emperador's avatars are fine IMO.

This is the two users:

- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=222075

Maybe you can ask to that user if he can remove the avatar (or better change it with another one). Good luck.

http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/03/envoy-car-mosque-destroyed-war-150318072200714.html

Quote
Almost all of the 436 mosques in the Central African Republic have been destroyed by months of vicious fighting between Christians and Muslims, the US ambassador to the United Nations said.
Samantha Power spoke to reporters on Tuesday after a Security Council visit last week to the country, calling the devastation "kind of crazy, chilling".

Quote
417 of the country's mosques have been destroyed. She visited the one remaining Muslim neighbourhood in the capital, Bangui, and described the residents as "a terrified population". Some Muslim women, afraid of leaving the community while wearing their veils, are choosing to give birth in their homes instead of hospitals.

I hope there are Christians here ready to denounce their religion for such widespread violence....

Slighty off-topic but relevant, I'd think we'd be better off we destroyed all forms of religion then we wouldn't have so many excuses for violence.

It is not the problem of Religion itself, but a problem with the misunderstanding of the religion about few (maybe more than few) people. It is normal that each religion in the past wanted "prevale"  (teach) to the others but now I think everyone should  'read' the religions in this actual period of time (because have passed few thousand of years).
3305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks and Bitcoin on: April 11, 2015, 10:20:39 AM
The great thing about bitcoin is we don't need a bank. We are our own with btc.

Damnit that sucks if that happens. Thats why BTC is better (no one can freeze your account)

Only who have the private keys can "freeze" it, how? By forgot the private key itself  Cheesy. If we are thinking that bitcoin can replace (kill) the actual economic system based with intermediary (banks) we should also think how to teach who don't have any knowledge on how to use a PC/device and related  wallet/client.

PS: remember who owns the private key owns the bitcoin!
Thats why if you have your coins in an exchange, you don't own the bitcoin, they do... something that a lot of people seem to forget.
Unfortuantely tho, leaving your BTC in an exchange is the only way to benefit from quick pumps, otherwise you miss the opportunity since it takes too long to deposit BTC.

Decentralized exchanges will probably get around this so you can keep your coins yourself right up until the actual trade. No more relying on third parties.

The problem with the "theory decentralised exchange" is that it cannot be used FIAT value on it, because the banks aren't decentralized so there is the problem of the chargeback aka irreversibility. Maybe it could be possible a decentralised exchange with only the various crypto-currencies (I hope to see a dec. exchange in the next 1-2 years, here a possible valid example : Mercury - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=946174.0).
3306  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Paypal wants to accept BTC now?? on: April 11, 2015, 09:49:18 AM
PayPal will never start to use bitcoin, maybe not for all the purchase because it is so easy make a chargeback and all we know bitcoin and reversibility can't coexist because it is impossible to reverse a payment (I'm not talking about double-spend). What do you think between ETF and PayPal? Will these news push-up the price (because a lot if people will start to buy more bitcoin)? Or not?

Paypal.com itself may not start accepting Bitcoin, but Paypal the company created (? or acquired?) https://www.braintreepayments.com to give merchants the ability to accept Bitcoin.

Thanks for the link, I didn't know that site before now! It seems interesting, in bottom page there is written :

© 2008-2015 Braintree, a division of PayPal, Inc. All rights reserved. Italy Privacy Policy | Legal | Trademarks

So I think they "are" test"ing" bitcoin as method of payment (and not as only speculation) before add it to the real paypal site (as option). We will see what will happen (but I am not optimistic).
3307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks and Bitcoin on: April 11, 2015, 07:23:21 AM
they could earn by asking users to deposti bitcoin on their bank, and instead of playing with fiat they play with bitcoin(invest them) they in exchange will offer you interest on your deposit(like 2-3%) and security

Interests are paid on fiat deposits, because fiat is susceptible to inflation. It loses value every day. Inflation is not a problem with Bitcoin, as the monetary supply is limited. So there is no need to pay interests on BTC deposits.

i mean they pay you interest in fiat, not bitcoin, you lock your bitcoin in their bank and for this they will offer an annual interest

A bank for bitcoin is a "stupid" thing, we should consider our wallet as bank not the contrary. Bitcoin bring back the "ownership of money" without the use of a 'bank' so I'm sorry but banks and bitcoin will never can be possible and I will trust only my wallet for store my bitcoin. 3309  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need to know more about cold storage on: April 11, 2015, 06:03:59 AM
Hello!
Thanks all for your answers and another question was arose
The best cold storage is to print your private keys on a paper (don't mention on it that it is Bitcoin-related), copy it several times and store these papers on several locations. To be safe, make a USB copy additionally. Finally, delete the private keys from your laptop, if you use it to get into the internet Smiley

It seems a lot of you don't understand that a cold wallet/storage private key should never be used or exposed online . If it is exposed online than it loss the cold property and it "is not more secure". For generate a real cold address you should choose a "secure" machine with windows (maybe better linux) and "use" bitAddress or client/wallet (downloaded from another machine, and transferred through USB or other storage supports) to generate your offline address. The final thing to do is send your bitcoin to that address and protect your laptop with several "copy" of your private key (into a sheet of paper, cd, floppy, sd,etc...); a real private key of a "cold" wallet address should never be exposed online.

Exactly. I'm surprised how many people think they have "cold storage" just because it isn't readily connected to the internet.

Never let your private key touch an internet connected machine. If you spend from your cold wallet, it's no longer cold and you should move your remaining coins to a new cold address. Personally, I generate my cold addresses with dice, and then convert that base 6 key offline so I can get the public address. The private key is never saved or printed or connected to the internet, I have my private key written in my 99 dice rolls.

If a wallet which is never connected to internet, then how that offline wallet contains BTC?

Cold storage transactions are off blockchain?

~Rude Boy

No, it isn't. All transactions will be on-chain.

See above, How to transfer BTC to an offline wallet which is never connected to internet (here don't bother about hard wallets). If yes, then this transaction is off-chain transaction right?

~Rude Boy

Do you know how a transaction works and where are stored your bitcoin? I will give an help, the bitcoin are stored in the blockchain so when you send a tx to a cold address (check any by block explorer) you will find that your btc is in that address. When you want to "move" the btc in that address  (also if you don't see them in your offline wallet, you should only sign a raw transaction and push/broadcast it on any other device (connected to Internet).

3311  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS destroys Syrian Church on Easter Sunday on: April 11, 2015, 05:20:10 AM
ISIS tell they are following Islamic rules but it is a blatant and obvious lie.

They kill humans without any remorse. Do you really think they will care about buildings and stuff if they don't even care about humans.

They have destroyed hundreds of Shia Muslim shrines and mosques, in addition to Christian churches and Yazidi temples. But this is nothing when compared to the hundreds of thousands of innocent people who were butchered by them.

The amazing thing here, that these ISIS members are claiming themselves "muslims" but kill also muslims, christians etc... This is the really strange thing that I cannot understand.

Seems to be a quite pointless action. Calculated savagery is often part of the arsenal of conquering armies to shock their enemies but this one will piss of people instead of shock them into submission.

That's obvious, what is the purpose to destroy a Church? I think there isn't any valid reason for destroy an antique and important Church.

Your statement itself answers your question. They want to spread violence. By destroying an old and important Chruch and that too on Easter Sunday, most people will try to wage a war against them. I think that's what they want. CMIIW.

They kill humans without any remorse. Do you really think they will care about buildings and stuff if they don't even care about humans.
What are you talking about, after all Islam is religion of peace, if you want to check latest new about love and peace Islam is bringin upon  our world this website can open your eyes: http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/

FYI: That website twists some things a lot. I know as I am a Muslim, you either won't care what I say and rely on it or will tell I am lying unless you are a "truth seeker".

P.S. ISIS should be destroyed no matter what. However, a bloodless victory will be great. There are many innocents living in there. Whether "bloodless" refer to innocents only or to all is yet to be discussed.

I asked an explicit question because I would like to receive an explicit answer from a lot of users here in the community, because the mass media - newspaper - internet - people are saying (each if them) a different thing. In these ultimate 5-10 years it was very difficult to know the truth about something and I've seen lot of people say : all the Muslim are like ISIS, so all the Muslims are terrorist" now ISIS members aren't Muslims (and finally I'm secure of what I'm saying).
3312  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NO Miracles in Koran on: April 11, 2015, 05:07:23 AM

They say there is proof.
When we ask for it they go to islamic sources instead of showing the physical proof from either Nasa or any other trusted source of intel..

NASA is hardly trustworthy. Anybody that believes any government source is truly gullible.
Well....

NASA has done an excellent job with it's planetary robotic exploration work.  The STS program, the space shuttle, that's arguable.  In general, NASA is flanked on the left by research departments at universities and private, and it is flanked on the right by an array of industries.  Those produce spacecraft, instrumentation, computer and control systems, rocket motors and so forth.

I'm not sure how words and phrases like "trustworthy" apply to such complex groupings.  Within NASA, there are  divisions by subject matter and by geographical location.

Do I trust the sort-of librarians in Houston whose job is to take care of the lunar rocks and material returned by the Apollo missions?

Sure.

Etc.

+1.

We return to an important question, the problem of trust "something" (yes I'm straw man) everyone can believe in whatever he want, but he should not oblige the other to do the same. It is normal all the Muslim believe in the Quran, and it will be most difficult to comvince the other . I remember that one tune my Muslim friend asked me to join the Islam and I've replied to him "I will join only if your religion is better than mine".

The forum gave me a week to think about all the things I had done. But since it was all Vod's fault, I think they should have rightly banished him. In any case, better to lose a saddle than lose a horse. I'm a better man for it.

This is something of substance, just in case: https://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/post/lets-talk-bitcoin-136-the-head-or-the-horse-1

I'd also like to call attention to the fact that I've removed the sig. I post too much to be a billboard. I get that.

I don't think the sig. As was the real problem and if you will continue to post in the same way I'm sure you will have another problem (of this type). Thus was just my personal opinion, but maybe in wrong.
3314  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by Ashan $50 on: April 10, 2015, 10:00:00 PM
that's why you should use always escrow service...

Fixed for you, people are falling in the same error... if you don't trust the seller use always an escrow (there are few that accept tip or small donation, if you don't want to pay 1-2% of fee). My personal suggestion is: if you don't trust the seller and there isn't any escrow online *stop* the tractive and wait the escrow.

3317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cryptography. on: April 10, 2015, 05:40:39 PM
I am not a techy guy but from what I could see isn't Bitcoin's source code open? Everyone can look into it and see if there is any weird triggers or algorithms are rigged or something. So I imagine that multiple very knowledgeable tech brains looked already into it and confirmed that indeed bitcoin's code is pure and won't backfire in the future.

Yes of course, the code is obviously open source and this is one of the numerous reason of why bitcoin is very successful, in 5-6 years of "life" no one found a backdoor or a shitty code, so it is not a "software" written by any government. The sha of 256 bits is based on math, if you don't trust math it is obvious that you should not trust bitcoin (but it doesn't seem this is the case Wink).
3318  Other / Meta / Re: Who uses a custom trust depth? on: April 10, 2015, 05:32:53 PM
If I can say my opinion, I am using the normal/standard defaultTrust list withe a  depth level "2". I'm fine with my choice, and I believe in that list.
3319  Other / Meta / Re: "THE LIST" on: April 10, 2015, 04:05:20 PM
No problem you are welcome, however I don't prefer to add users to ignore list because it is better (in my honest opinion) to read all the posts instead to don't read them. In this way we can "learn" more about bitcoin and other things (I know it is really annoying to read a troll write the same thing , and spread FUD in all the topics .... but who care?).

It is. But in the last few months we've witnessed an enormous noise to signal increase, making technically impossible to read the information within a thread. For what it's worth, apart from the sockpuppets, I constantly unignore people from the list for a short time to revise my decision... Wink

PS: List updated. This thread seems to be a sockpuppet magnet Tongue

Yes (also) your opinion is valid, however I think also the personal list is a personal thing but maybe it could be possible to create a standard ignore list (of valid and obviously troll and sockpuppets). For example few users in your list are real sockpuppets but I am still quiet in read their posts.
