KKR lost all their wickets for 167, I thought they are going to score something near 200 but they lost wickets in the middle and death overs, no one really played better other than Tripathi. This is another good chance for CSK to win and break the criticism for this year because they lost three in a row and suddenly people call them as they will finish in the bottom of the table.

It was disappointing from the KKR, after starting so well. Even after 15-16 overs, I was hoping that they will end up around 180-190. But they scored 30 runs lower. The Abu Dhabi ground is not that easy to bat on, but even then a score above 180 would have guaranteed them a victory. Between 160 and 180, it can go either way. Fortunately for the KKR, they got Faf du Plessis out early.
3302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 07, 2020, 01:50:43 PM
What about today's match, i am confused which team to pick. I expect CSK to play better after they dominated the last match but the rest of the players were not tested. They need to promote Sam Curran up the order as he is striking the ball well in this IPL.

Considering CSK has really struggled so far in this tournament, it will be wrong to expect miracles from them. But then, KKR hasn't performed that good either. The big issue for KKR is that Sunil Narine and Andre Russell are yet to reach their peak form. Shubman Gill and Eoin Morgan got the runs during the previous matches. Anyway, a lot is going to depend on who wins the toss.
3303  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 07, 2020, 01:28:43 PM
The winner should be decided on the basis of points and there should not be any "final" match.
The interest lay on having a final rather than winning a competition through points, they could promote the match as the final and that could attract more viewers in front of the television and in the stadium and the beauty of triangular or quadrangular tournaments is the best two teams will play for the title.

@JSRAW is there a chance we would see the world cup getting extended. We need to give every team a fair chance to get qualified and i have not seen their scheduling on when they are planning to resume cricket again.

Yes. Final matches attract above average viewership. What the ICC needs to do is to allow the matches of ODI championship to be played as tri/quad series. Unless big 3 nations are taking part, the bilateral serieses attracts very low interest from the fans nowadays. If the number if teams are increased, then there is a chance that the TV viewership will increase as well.
3304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: October 06, 2020, 06:25:07 AM
It's a bad idea teaching old people to use bitcoin. Mostly old people in my country don't know how to use cellphone or computer. But if they knew, what will be in their mind if you introduce bitcoin to them? In news, bitcoin always mention because in our country many investment scam use bitcoin as their mode of payment. Old people always watch news, and if I'll introduce it to them they'll avoid it and think that it is a scam.

There are two sides to it. You can say that the seniors don't understand the concept about cryptocurrency and therefore we don't need to spend our time and effort in educating them about it. But at the same time, it is the elderly investors who fall victim to cryptocurrency scams most of the time. Look at the largest scams in the history of cryptocurrency, such as PlusToken. Seniors represent a large fraction of the victims.
3305  Economy / Economics / Re: Will African countries be developed? on: October 06, 2020, 05:56:03 AM
Also, it will be developed if there will be no corruption, proper family planning since their population is really high which makes it really hard for all of them. This is only a few steps to improve, but it will never happen if their people including the government will not make a move.

Rapid population growth is one of the main reasons why most of the Africans live in abject poverty. Whenever I talk about this, a lot of people counter it by saying that the population density in the African continent is very low and therefore they can afford to have a high population growth. But what they fail to remember is that most of the area in Africa is composed of either desert or equatorial rainforest. Areas that are suitable for agriculture are rather small.
3306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US 2020 Elections data, polls and bets on: October 06, 2020, 05:41:16 AM
I disagree. The same segment of the population that voted for Trump remains having a similar attitude on 2016. Democrats support of defund the police and the black lives matter riots destroying communities? The young liberals should go out and vote if they do not want Trump hehe. However, I reckon young are also divided.

Also watch the video Trump's new campaign storyboard. The Return of the King hehehehe.

https://mobile.twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/1313267143232942081?s=12

From what I have seen, the mainstream media is showing only one side of the debate. They are showing the BLM movement and the protest marches, but they never show the violence and rioting that is being done by the left wing militias. On the other hand, they are trying to paint a picture that it is the right-wing militias that are committing most of the violence. For example, the panelists trying to blame Pretty Boys and other right wing groups for violence during the first presidential debate. But Trump was smart, and he explicitly stated that the ANTIFA and the other left-groups are responsible for most of the rioting.
3307  Economy / Economics / Re: Not enough Corona Virus Vaccine until 2024, at earliest on: October 06, 2020, 05:31:41 AM
Really? If that is really true then 4 years is too long, I couldn't imagine the economy of our country during those years. There are many things that are still not fully recovered, some establishment only offers 30-50% capacity and that is not good enough for fast recovery.

Despite the danger that pandemic can bring to us, people need to work outside to sustain their daily needs because our government cannot help us anymore, we need to do some moves to earn money as well and because of that, the possibility of spreading the virus goes high.

I don't know why so many people are taking this news seriously. According to industry experts, a large part of the global population will be vaccinated by mid-2021, and by the end of that year vaccines will be made available to everyone. The OP is quoting one of the vaccine developers from India, who issued a statement just for political purpose. It has nothing to do with the situation on ground.
3308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vietnam bursts an illegal casino who used to handle bets worth $3 billions on: October 06, 2020, 05:21:04 AM
It is actually very hard to prevent if officials themselves are benefiting from these illegal activities, But we should not holistically judge the authorities as not all of them does the same thing, there are still great news coming concerning illegal casinos getting busted. Just like this news. Authorities in Canada shutter down a luxury mansion that is running an illegal casino and spa inside of it.

This is really surprising. Because I thought that all forms of gambling are legal in Canada. I am a big supporter of the system there, because recently they even legalized Marijuana. So what's the point in running an illegal casino, when they can easily obtain the license for the same? Now they have to pay huge fines and penalties for breaking the law and running the casino without a license.
3309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: October 06, 2020, 04:52:46 AM
The question is, do the need to learn in detail about Bitcoin? I have seen a lot of pensioners investing in blue chip funds and treasury bonds, without fully understanding how they works. So why can't the same approach be used for cryptocurrency? All they need to understand is that Bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency which was invented in 2008. And they need to know that BTC gave 10 million times returns during the 10-year period from 2010 to 2020.
3310  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 06, 2020, 04:42:09 AM
I am in very much favor of Tri/Quad series in ODI/T-20. At the end everyone wants interesting series not some useless Bilateral. for ex 2 teams playing ODI series just after ODI WC, its seems pathetic lol

The reason why we are seeing less number of such tournaments is that the ICC has come up with the ODI Championship. ICC full members are required to play a certain number of matches against each other and the matches from tri/quad series doesn't count for this ODI Championship. The international cricketing calendar is already crowded and the teams don't have any incentive to play matches outside the ICC ODI Championship.
3311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin transaction fees be too high in the future? on: October 06, 2020, 04:32:18 AM
It is the volatility in the transaction fee that is the problem. The average fees can fluctuate very wildly. Last week I made a transaction, and used the default fee as shown in Blockchain.com. The fee was 4.7 Sat/Byte. Then the Mempool size went up and the transaction was stuck for 48 hours. It got confirmed after two days, but left me frustrated and angry. The problem is that it is getting difficult to predict the transaction fees. The fee that I input (4.7 Sat/Byte) would have been enough to get a quick confirmation in the previous week, but after I made the transaction the fee shot up and the transaction got stuck. If I knew that previously, then I could have increased the fee.

Agreed. I feel like DC have better chances at winning the cup when compared to teams like CSK and MI this time around since their batting and bowling departments are pretty much set. Even their substitutes are great. Rabada is easily my favorite DC bowler.

Rabada is underrated. On average, the teams are scoring anywhere from 60 to 90 runs in the last 5 overs, at the rate of 12 to 15 runs per over. However, Rabada bowls most of his overs at this stage and he concedes only 6 to 8 runs per over. On top of that he takes wickets at regular intervals as well. So far, he has played an important role in all of DC's matches.
3313  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: October 06, 2020, 04:09:41 AM
Quote
Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor pulled in 4.3M domestic PPV buys, $600M
I think it would already be considered as a big success.

You need to remind that bulk of the PPV buys come from the United States. Floyd Mayweather is an American, and within the US his fan base is much larger than that of Conor McGregor. So I would say that Mayweather was responsible for most of this revenue inflow. You can't expect the Manny Pacquiao-Conor McGregor fight to pull in the same number of PPV buys.

The latest news from Cricket Australia is that the test match with Afghanistan may be cancelled (instead of postponing). The ODI series against New Zealand also looks very unlikely to happen this year. For the Australian team, the next major outing will be against India. They will be playing a total of four test matches, three ODIs and three T20Is. The match between Australia and Afghanistan was originally scheduled from November 21 to 25.
3315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Openbazaar needs your support on: October 05, 2020, 05:54:26 AM
Openbazaar didn't try to launch a token as well and I guess, they could have succeeded if they just launched a token to build a community.  I don;t think its too late for it.

They should have done that in 2017, or during the first half of 2018. But now the ICO market is in bad shape and I don't think that they will get a good response. By 2017, they had a decent enough first-cut product and there was some hype regarding it in the market. But now the interest has waned and the number of users in their platform has gone down. No one really wants to invest in a failed product.
3316  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vietnam bursts an illegal casino who used to handle bets worth $3 billions on: October 05, 2020, 05:41:47 AM
When the owners and others who are involved in this illegal activity are interrogated, those corrupt official will not sleep peacefully in their bed. They gonna think that their names are being mention in the interrogation room. The moment the authority caught these guys, that's the moment they been waiting for. Because those people can name the corrupt officials who are involved in this activity and they can clean their goverment from making this guys pay from what they have done to the country. You can understand what I'm saying if you watch the Korean movie "Master" where they caught the mastermind of the biggest networking scam in their country and managed to get through the information of who are the officials involved in that networking scam.

When an official accepts bribe on a regular basis, he is well aware that the law will catch up to him sooner or later. So he'll be prepared. A part of the proceedings will be sent to the tax heavens and the remainder will be invested in his own country under fictitious identities. Purchasing passports have become quite easy now. Nowadays you can get a citizenship in any of the Caribbean nations for as low as $100,000. After earning bribes for 3-4 years, the official can renounce his citizenship and flee to any of these islands. Since they usually don't have extradition treaties with anyone, it will be difficult for the authorities to get the official prosecuted.
3317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 05, 2020, 05:30:20 AM
I took your advice and placed my bets on CSK, they won by 10 wickets and I made some good profits. MI was a one sided game so did not placed any bets on that match. In today's match DC is ranked 2 and RCB is 3 on points both teams have potential and I feel this match will be close. I have not decided who to choose but I feel DC would be the right choice.

DC is a more balanced team when compared to RCB. They are one of the few teams, who don't have any vulnerabilities in both the top order and the middle order (Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant.etc). Protean pair of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje have performed really well so far, and their spinners have also bowled well (Ashwin/Mishra).
3318  Economy / Economics / Re: Famine is coming next ... on: October 05, 2020, 05:19:07 AM
Famine isn't gonna strike by now, but based on the difference on governance over every country there is possible chances of famine. During this lockdown there is change in climate, and this improves the development of agriculture. By now famine can happen only out of corruption.

Climate change is occurring for the last few decades. It didn't happened as a result of the lockdown. And impact of climate change is increasing with every passing year, as we are seeing droughts in certain parts of the world and floods in some other parts more frequently. No one really want to take care of the real reason behind it. Human population is at unsustainable levels, and it is still growing at a rate of 100 million per year. Unless the population growth slows down, famines and other natural disasters will continue to torment the globe.
3319  Economy / Economics / Re: Stocks fall down due to trump catching the virus on: October 05, 2020, 05:10:02 AM
Usually election in USA are very good for the stock market because the new presidents usually promise a lot of new reforms. Now with the corona pandemic still going on the times might be different and there is more downward pressure on stocks all around the world. But I think once the election is over and there is more certainty with a corona vaccine there will be a big jump in stock and all other asset classes. I wouldn't be selling my funds at the moment, going to hold my ETF funds atleast until the end of the year before I do any repositioning. Why pay all these transactions fees if it's just going up again in a few weeks?

The stock market crashed once (April-May 2020) and then recovered. Now I don't think that there will be any additional impact of the pandemic on the stock markets. Even the oil prices are back to the previous levels. Economy has restarted in most of the countries, and the number of infections are going down in almost all the countries (including the US, India and the EU).
3320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government figures or politicians supporting Bitcoin? on: October 05, 2020, 04:59:12 AM
We also have the same issue here in my country. Most of the news that is related to crypto was negative, the always headline was someone who has been scammed in the crypto investment and this quite sad. They only saw Crypto in a negative way. Fortunately, our government was apparently supporting it though there is some negative news attached to it they never make a law against crypto. Perhaps our government might be also getting a benefit out of it.

Back in 2017, most of the media articles about Bitcoin and other forms of cryptocurrency were showing them in good light. But then multi-billion scams such as PlusToken and OneCoin happened. A lot of unsuspecting investors lost their money, and till now the masterminds behind that scam are leading a free life. Perhaps this changed the media perception about cryptocurrency.
