3321  Economy / Economics / Re: Not enough Corona Virus Vaccine until 2024, at earliest on: October 05, 2020, 04:49:10 AM
There are countries that claim that the vaccine can be finished next year, some say it is four years from now, and my own country says it is making a covid-19 vaccine and is in the final stages of testing.  This makes me very confused about the veracity of this vaccine itself.  Is there really a vaccine for Covid?  who really invented the covid-19 vaccine?  when will the vaccine really be finished?  This confusion has even worsened the psychological state of the community, they no longer believe in Covid-19, especially with the vaccine.  So that the number of victims of Covid continues to increase because of the decline in public awareness of the dangers of Covid itself.

Till now the WHO hasn't approved any vaccine against COVID 19. Hope that answers your question.

Since COVID 19 is caused by a virus, it is almost impossible to manufacture a vaccine that is 100% effective. Many of the health agencies are saying that they will approve a potential vaccine, if it's proven to be 50% to 70% effective. Russia and China has started mass-production of their vaccines, although these don't have the approval from the WHO.
3322  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: October 05, 2020, 04:39:03 AM
It would still even on considerable if it would be set out = +900. Its not underestimating but its clear as hell on who would win on this fight. To know that this would be on Boxing rules and of course boxers would have the edge or advantage plus talking about stamina then we know that Conor do have that issue.  Cheesy

I have seen a lot of posts on this thread claiming that Conor is a MMA fighter and he stands no chance in the boxing ring. I have to disagree here. Manny Pacquiao may be the overwhelming favorite, but it is not going to be a cakewalk for him. Conor is at his prime, and he has taken part in boxing before (although it ended in defeat, against Floyd Mayweather in 2017). I would say that the risk is too great to bet in favor of Manny.
3323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 05, 2020, 04:28:58 AM
Finally, Chennai Super Kings have enlisted a 10 wickets win over KXIP. What a fine opening act this this duo Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson, as they were looking such kind of brilliant and terrific batting execution. The highest partnership ever in history of IPL so we can't predict this IPL as it's a real suspense. As MSD said It was just matter of time. So, good things take time and hopefully CSK carry this rhythms for next matches.

The CSK bowling was not up to the mark. They won the game only because of Watson/du Plessis. None of the other players can claim any role in this victory. Dubai International Cricket Stadium is such a big ground and even then the CSK bowlers conceded 178 runs in 20 overs. Chahar and Jadeja were the only bowlers who escaped punishment. And Dhoni made a big blunder by not allowing Chahar to bowl his full quota of overs.
3324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker started to eliminate tokens stolen from KuCoin on: October 04, 2020, 05:56:09 PM
This is really surprising. Kucoin actually claimed that they had identified most of the hackers and have traced back a majority of the stolen funds. However, if the criminals are moving the funds with ease and liquidating them, then their claims are false. They may be trying to pacify their clients, by giving false assurances. Unfortunately for the Kucoin users, there is very little chance of anyone reimbursing their losses.
3325  Economy / Economics / Re: US economy will continue to recover - Powell on: October 04, 2020, 05:45:23 PM
If the US dollar is to retain any type of value integrity, this can't go on forever. It's been decades since the US ran a budget surplus which decreased the deficit at all, and it was short lived and possibly only a fluke as tax receipts swelled in conjunction with the dot com bubble. The US currently takes for granted that ability to sell bonds to finance the debt, but the world's appetite for this bonds will eventually wane as it looks increasingly unlikely that the US is even able to balance the budget, let alone pay down the debt.

I don't think that the demand for treasury bonds from the United States is going down. On the other hand, the interest in them seems to be going up. Average Yield for a 10-year bond is somewhere around 2% right now, and it is declining with every passing year. If the demand is low, then the interest rate should be going up. I agree that having consecutive budget deficits are not good for the economy. But tell me one thing. Among all the UN members, how many countries are having surplus budgets right now? Even countries such as Saudi Arabia are having huge budget deficits.
3326  Economy / Economics / Re: Trump's Economy or Biden’s Economy - which version is better. on: October 04, 2020, 05:23:42 PM
This is the reason I do believe that US Presidential Election will have significant effect on the markets. Trump or Biden is the big question there. People will be fearful until the outcome, market makers don't need Biden by any means. Market will go negative if Biden wins. The entire world is watching and wants Trump to win.

You can expect the stock markets to crash very badly, if Biden wins. During Trump's term the Dow Jones Industrial Average went up from 18,847 to 27,682.81, which represents an increase of 47% in just 4 years. No other president can claim something like this. All these gains will vanish in case Biden/Kamala gets elected. I am wondering whether I should sell my stocks, since Biden is well ahead as per the opinion polls.
3327  Economy / Economics / Re: Not enough Corona Virus Vaccine until 2024, at earliest on: October 04, 2020, 05:13:03 PM
Factually incorrect article. The Russians are going to mass produce their vaccine from this month onwards and they are saying that by the end of 2021, around 2 billion doses may be made available. Also, the vaccine from one of the Chinese firms will be available in the market shortly. The OP is mentioning the vaccine from University of Oxford/AstraZeneca, but I guess we will be having much better options by 2021.
3328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 04, 2020, 04:55:10 PM
After lot of struggle CSK's opening pair posted very good total in the power play overs 60 for no loss and now the things are going well for CSK so the players need to play sensibly from now and keep their hope alive in this season.Mandeep played really well and also Pooran had good knock after that no one able to go for big shots so they fell short of 20 runs in their final overs.

For the last two matches, Francois du Plessis is opening the batting along with Shane Watson. The du Plessis/Watson combo seems to be doing much better than Vijay/Watson. But the middle order still looks vulnerable. I forgot the last time Kedar Jadhav scored a half century. He has scored 51 runs from 4 matches so far, and I don't know how this guy finds a place in the playing XI all the time.
3329  Other / Politics & Society / Re: California to consider slavery reparations after landmark law passed on: October 04, 2020, 04:45:58 PM
issues i see
1. proving the decendants
2. proving the original slave was not compensated when they were freed

There is a lot of intermarriage nowadays in the United States. A few months back, I read a statistic claiming that more than 30% of the black births are to mothers who are not black themselves. So in case a child is born to a father, who is a descendant of a slave and a mother, who is descendant of a slave-owner, will he/she be eligible for reparations? Also, blacks were not the only group to be enslaved. Asians, Whites (especially Irish and Slavs) as well as Native Amerindians were enslaved in the recorded history. Are their descendants eligible for reparations?
3330  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-11]Cryptocurrency Exchange Coincheck Has Got A License on: October 04, 2020, 04:35:49 PM
First steps of governments to take control of their own? I think this is just the beginning. If Bitcoin becomes even more popular, in the next few years, governments will come up with ways to control cryptocurrency.

There is not a single country in the world, which will allow you to operate a cryptocurrency exchange without a valid license. I would say that it is sort of mixed package. You have to comply with KYC regulations and your transactions may no longer be anonymous. But at the same time, tighter regulations mean that there is a lower chance of the exchange owners conducting an exit scam.
3331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Elon Musk fake giveaway. on: October 04, 2020, 04:24:25 PM
At least this time they didn't hacked his Twitter account. These sort of attempts have been very common in Twitter over the past few months. I posted about one such attempt in the "Scam Accusations" subforum sometime ago. If you are unfortunate enough to click the phishing link, then it will take you to a very sophisticated web page. Only the experienced users will understand that everything shown there is faked. These criminals are very innovative.
3332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US 2020 Elections data, polls and bets on: October 04, 2020, 04:14:13 PM
For me, the populism of Trump has not subsided yet and this is going to be a 50/50 fight for both of them.

Back in 2016, Trump as a politician was a new comer. His opponent (Hillary) had a lot of past baggage and a large section of the population voted for Trump not because they agreed with his policies, but because they wanted to make sure that Hillary never becomes the president. Times have changed. Trump's disapproval ratings have remained consistently in the 50-55% range, and his opponent this time is regarded as a moderate (I am talking about Biden, and not about Kamala).
3333  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 04, 2020, 04:04:20 PM
So, Chennai are going to chase again as Kings XI Punjab have won the toss and chose for bat first against CSK. CSK team has zero changes while KXIP rolled out a three changes today, Gayle is missing in todays squad what I say poor team selection by KXIP. I'll make on bet over KXIP today.

If they want to include Gayle, then they needs to drop either Glenn Maxwell or Nicholas Pooran. Maxwell is not in good form right now, but they want to stick with him. For today's match, they dropped Karun Nair and included Mandeep Singh. Mandeep performed well today. So at least one of their changes worked. They have included Chris Jordan as well, and let's see how that goes.
3334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2020 US Presidential Election | Trump vs Biden on: October 04, 2020, 01:32:04 PM
So he's on the ballot in 12 states, and that's it. He can only help Trump or Biden win electors (depending on the state), there is no way he can win himself. If you try and vote for him in a state he isn't a candidate in, it's a spoiled ballot.

This is a controversial topic. But from what we have seen, there is very little evidence to prove that third party candidates will have an impact on the outcome of the elections. They get very few votes and most of these votes come from those who want to cast protest vote. The votes received by such candidates doesn't lower the vote count for the main candidates. And for the POTUS 2020 elections, none of the third party candidates have received any attention from the media.
3335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 04, 2020, 01:22:14 PM
@bryant.coleman SRH have lost the service of Pandey and now Williamson has come out to bat, and if he Warner were to strike a partnership then I believe that it would end any hopes of an comeback for MI. However if MI picks two or three quick wickets then, SRH would be under pressure, and I wouldn’t be surprised if their innings collapsed due to loosing those quick wickets.

Well.. I never said that it is going to be easy. No matter how small the boundaries are, the required run rate is still above 12 runs per over (i.e 2 runs per ball). It is not going to be easy. But David Warner is not someone who will get intimidated with such a steep asking rate. As long as Warner is there, it is going to be advantage SRH. If he gets out sometime soon, then the outcome will get unpredictable.
3336  Economy / Exchanges / Re: KuCoin Has Found The Hackers Who Stole $281 Million on: October 04, 2020, 01:12:14 PM
Any new development on this topic? If they actually manages to get hold of the hackers, then it will be an exception. We had dozens (if not hundreds) of exchange hacks since 2014 and not even once the actual perpetrators were captured and the stolen funds were recovered. I just hope that this time they manage to get hold of the thieves and make an example out of them. Even if they manage to recover a part of the funds, it is going to be huge.
3337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin and bitcoin high transaction fees on: October 04, 2020, 01:02:45 PM
Actually if you convert the amounts op stated into USD then it’s still real costly for the Indian rupees. Well bitcoin to INR conversion is big amount as we all know INR to USD is big difference here. 12% in the fees alone is big difference and would be good if dropped next to zero. Yes we understand that there are different types of fees and charges that needs to be paid for blockchain working. However being public ledger it does use free power from all the resources to work and store its blocks. This has to be repaid I guess, at least in terms of fees.  Cheesy

Right now there is no logic in keeping the fees very high. The fee reward doesn't constitute for more than 20% of the income for the miners. It is causing a lot of damage to the adoption and acceptability, and at the same time the miners are not gaining much out of it. And as you pointed out, those who transact small amounts are worst hit. Imagine paying $5 as fees for a transaction that is worth just $25.
3338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 04, 2020, 12:52:39 PM
Right now, it looks like SRH is having the advantage. They are 91/1 after 9 overs. They lost Bairstow early, but Warner and Pandey have stabilized the innings. Also they have Kane Williamson at no.4. Apart from Krunal Pandya, almost every other MI bowler has gone for plenty of runs. And Bumrah has been a big disappointment so far. In this game also his performance was not up to the mark.
3339  Other / Politics & Society / Re: War between Armenia(Հայաuտան) and Azerbaijan(Azərbaycan) over Nagorno Karabakh on: October 03, 2020, 05:51:51 AM
The current occupation of Nagorno Karabakh is well planned as Turkey's sure neither US nor Russia would come to help Armenia. Both of them don't want to have trouble with Turkey. US have no profit on fighting for Armenia while it's Armenia who betrayed Russia and it's protection in favor of US. The loss of Nagorno Karabakh would be a hard learned lesson for forgetting your past.

If Russia ignores this conflict, then in the end they will also get caught up. Do you really think that Erdoğan and his puppet Aliyev will be satisfied with just Karabakh and Armenia? Their primary aim is obviously to complete what they couldn't finish in 1915-18. But what will happen after that? Erdoğan wants to establish the greater Turkestan and to become the Caliph. His idea of Turkestan includes the Caucasus, Volhynia and Siberia (which forms a part of Russia presently). Also, he would like to include Northern part of Iran (which is mostly populated by the Azeris). For now, Armenians are the target. Russians, Greeks, Serbs and the other non-Turkic people in this region can ignore this conflict as of now. But they will become the target sometime soon.

Update: Armenian side is suffering disproportionately high casualties, with 51 soldiers KIA yesterday. Total military casualties on the Armenian side is now above 200. The UAVs provided to Azerbaijan by Israel has singlehandedly shifted advantage to the Azeri side. The vast majority of the Armenian casualties and equipment damage resulted from drone strikes.
3340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin and bitcoin high transaction fees on: October 03, 2020, 05:41:45 AM
Someone could explain to me a little more about this increase in the bitcoin fee I know why the increase happened but I am not very sure about that

It happens time to time. You can check the Mempool size here:

https://www.blockchain.com/charts/mempool-size

Mempool size is the total size of the transactions which are to be confirmed. If the size is high, then the transaction fees also will be relatively high. Last time I checked, the size was around 32 million Bytes. Assuming that the average Block size is 1.2 MB, it is going to take around 30 blocks to confirm all these pending transactions, in case no new transactions are added.
