3321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Probability on: November 28, 2020, 03:30:53 AM
I love to play poker too and usually when I get 4 of a kind cards depending on the number or straight flush then I will go all in. This is what I am always winning at poker and I feel lucky if I had this cards. However it may also sometimes difficult to obtain and get coward sometimes when someone will call huge bet. Poker is an easy game to play but the problem is that you can get emotional in the process of betting either you need to let go of your decisions to call or not every roundswl with bets that can go higher and higher each round and that is one pressure you could get when playing poker.
You are not trained to play pro so it is okay, my advice is not to go all in when you get a good card, try to bet little by little to bait the other players into thinking that you are bluffing, when you get that kind of card, it is always worth it to lose your money. You can watch pro players held a high hand and bait others into playing all the way.
3322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The dangers of buying bitcoin thru Paypal - real life example on: November 28, 2020, 02:48:35 AM
Forget about "Not your keys, not your coins", they don't even let their user make profit from buy/sell Bitcoin. PayPal should emphasize that their platform aren't mean to be trading/exchange where user can buy/sell Bitcoin regularly.
Exactly, in my opinion both parties involved is at fault in the story, Paypal being the biggest participant in the problem. I do not know the full story but shouldn't the user knew that in the first place, there should be a clause there that says that they can't treat the platform as a trading platform and if there is none that can help deter users to do trading then the fault is all in Paypal's hands. In the defense I guess of Paypal, I think that they are just preventing possibilities of money laundering.
3323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will Eat the World on: November 27, 2020, 09:11:56 AM
If we can't fight the apocalypse scenario energy wise, do you think that we can defeat it by breaking through the computing plateau, one promising future technology is quantum computing. Having a faster computing speed means that blocks are mined faster.
3324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will Eat the World on: November 27, 2020, 08:26:18 AM
The cost of mining approaches the value of the mined bitcoins, regardless of the efficiency of the miners or the cost of the energy generation. That's just the economics of mining due to the self-adjusting difficulty and the incentives. So, when the value of a bitcoin goes up, so will the cost of mining it.
So what you are saying is that no matter how affordable the energy for mining is, it will not affect the cost of mining. I do agree with you regarding the difficulty of mining as the blocks gets more hard to mine and we are also reaching a computing plateau.
3325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reason for calling Bitcoin scam on: November 27, 2020, 07:25:34 AM
Lack of knowledge and too many ponzi schemes are the reason why some people still think that bitcoin is a scam and most of them will understand bitcoin is not a scheme when they do proper research but few will not accept the reality. Unofficially some of the government organizations had already started warning people about investing or dealing in Bitcoin and other cryptos thus creating fear and assumption in mind of normal people that Bitcoin is illegal of scam. But the good news is that the situations are improving as more and more investors are pouring in money.
It is not that they lack knowledge, it is because most articles about bitcoin that cater the public are all about the bad side of the thing which the masses buy in because they love the negativity in the news, teaching people about the good things is difficult but it is a good thing to do because it becomes a chain reaction that will slowly encompass the masses while drowning the media that tries to paint bitcoin in a bad way. If we can cure the masses ignorance then we can discuss a proper argument about the good and bad sides of bitcoin. Other reasons include, con artists see bitcoin as a lucrative and novel way to scam people, with few things not yet that public of a knowledge, they are going to abuse that to milk as much as they can at the short period of time. Maybe investors doing their part could solve this problem of bitcoin being an alien idea for many people.
3326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will Eat the World on: November 27, 2020, 06:35:34 AM
It is possible somewhat, the cost overtime of power production is decreasing thanks to the revolutionary renewable energy sources and a more safe nuclear energy, I think that the power generated annually will not overtake everything that we do. With renewable energy, I think that the price of mining will go down, not to mention that the mines are getting closer to the sources which drastically change the amount of money spent on power. The only reason that it becomes possible scenario is that each blocks gets progressively harder to mine which could be solved via quantum computing.
3327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why make New Crypto Exchanges on: November 27, 2020, 05:33:39 AM
Why study medicine and become a doctor while there are hundreds of thousands of doctors that are very good at what they are doing?

Why become a software engineer and make apps while there are apps with the same functionality exist already?

Why open up a Chinese bistro when there are many?

Why?

Because they can do it and they can still make money of it. That's why.
I wanted to disagree but given that bitcoin is decentralized, I think that it is fair to say that the analogy answers the question. There is only one problem that I can see here, is that the given analogy is not businesses which means that a competition will not be applied and we could be oversaturated with exchanges that the users will have a hard time choosing which one is to use, I am not saying that it is bad, it is in fact more beneficial because as more exchanges pops up, the better for the customers because they have options and exchanges will do anything to keep their customers.
3328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Conventional Currency on: November 27, 2020, 04:49:28 AM
It is a mixture of yes and no to be honest. Yes, because it can be used as a payment in blockchain network which is an advantage because we do not need an intermediary for our products which lessens the amount you need to pay, not to mention that bitcoin is an appreciating asset which could net you profit if you buy at the right time. No, because it is volatile unlike conventional currency which has a far more stable market value.
3329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you scared? on: November 27, 2020, 04:14:35 AM
It all comes down to ignorance and lack of Knowledge about Bitcoin. Honestly, it took me a very long time to know that bitcoin was a very good alternative for internation money transfer or payments, yet I was very active on the internet all the way from 2007.

I wasted a lot of time and money in fees in a number of remittance services yet Bitcoin was there. This all changed when i got to know about Bitcoin and whenever I see friends struggling with wiring money, I do try to suggest to them to use Bitcoin. The number of people so ignorant about the wonders Bitcoin can do is so shocking. Most people think I think it's just there for investment while others are scared of it because of the past ugly experiences of online scams and ponzi schemes that use Bitcoin's name.
Ignorance could have been prevented if there was an introduction by a friend to you about cryptocurrency, knowledge by far is the easiest of them all, a simple Google search and the eat all you can buffet of knowledge is at the tip of your fingers. It is natural for people not to adopt early technologies so I do not blame that they were late in the hype, they only have themselves to blame but that should not distract them from the fact that it will be alright to join the hype.
3330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WOMAN WHO CREATED A FAKE BITCOIN STILL ON THE RUN. WILL THE POLICE GET HER? on: November 27, 2020, 03:37:29 AM
She has disappeared in the face of the Earth, Dr. Ruja aka "Crypto Queen" has been speculated to have gone rogue via plastic surgery and booked different flights to deter international chase, many were also speculating that she was kidnapped and the money that she stole was in the hands of the kidnappers. This is what a con artist can do if they have a background in education that supports them and they also know what product they are selling.
3331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Probability on: November 27, 2020, 03:00:30 AM
When playing poker I don't stare at the emotions of opponents, because many people know how to bluff very well, and the real emotions in poker show only beginners. I rely only on a combination of my cards, because this is the only way to calculate your chances to win.

Those people who claim to read emotions in poker are likely to play at the table with people they know well, whose emotions they have learned to understand. Playing with a stranger is difficult to understand his emotions.
Well most players knew this tactic as well, it kind of signifies that the player staring is unsure on his/her cards. It can be done with strangers to be honest but that requires training yourself about body language and observing their way of entering the table. This is not applicable in online poker though because there is no human interaction happening, although pseudo tensions can build up online when there is only 2 players left on the table aiming for the pot.
3332  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Eto na! nagsisimula na! on: November 26, 2020, 11:55:18 AM
May december pa naman, sa aking opinyon makakabalik yan sa $19k bago umangat sa new ATH. Bago mag totoong correction sa January 2021. Maging responsable sana kayo sa pag trade.🙂
May chance na ireplicate ng market yung valley noong 2017 pero baka ngayon ay mas magtatala na ng bagong ATH ang bitcoin market, agreed ako na magkakacorrection in January pero tingin ko magbabounce back pa ulit ng isang beses sabay bagsak all the way na. Spekulasyon ko lang naman iyon pero the chance na hindi ireplicate yung valley is the same as replicating it.
3333  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Probability on: November 26, 2020, 10:00:12 AM
This is absolutely true. Personally I think I am a good poker player when playing for low stakes. But playing for high stakes, even though I know that rationally it's exactly the same, I find myself being too risk-averse, and probably—although it's obviously difficult for me to tell—quite easy to read.
You might experiencing something in the realm of Sudden Wealth Syndrome, it isn't exactly the same but the nerves that are getting you is similar in a way. I think a good training to steel your nerves is what is best for you, constant exposure to high stakes game and playing in the is an expensive yet effective training, meditation by far is the best you can do if you want to acquire a steel nerve.
3334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways against BTC confiscation. on: November 26, 2020, 07:53:33 AM
Tip: They can't confiscate something they don't even know that you have. This is also one main reason why a lot of people here(and with Bitcoiners as a whole) have been heavily advocating in using peer-to-peer platforms, rather than spot exchanges like Coinbase.
Learned this tip from my friends who trade, it is helpful although our government does not care that much about cryptocurrency.

Regarding the confiscation, I think that it is fair for the institution to sell it to use it for their payment for their services, if it were confiscated without a ground that the person holding it is doing something illegal then I guess it is unethical and corrupt at best but if it is the other way around then I think that it is justifiable.
3335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please remember ----> Bitcoin is a Peer-to-Peer digital payment network :-> on: November 26, 2020, 06:53:04 AM
Blockchain is the peer to peer network and bitcoin is one of the many currency that is being traded in it. I advise to other late investors to assess their risk tolerance as the valley from 2017 could be replicated, and if you think you can handle loss then go for it because the market is volatile, otherwise go for a swim and wait for the prices to plummet and buy at that moment.
3336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does Bitcoin's crucial year teaches us? on: November 26, 2020, 05:52:38 AM
The fact that Bitcoin recovered from many previous crashes or that it's better than any other cryptocurrency can't serve as an argument against it being in a bubble, because there's no connection between those things. Bitcoin is most likely in a bubble, because the price rise is drives by speculation and not some fundamental breakthrough, the price is also rising very fast in very short time, which is one of the biggest signs of a bubble.
Recovery of the prices is the biggest take in my opinion, many believed that the bubble will burst but here we are at the top. The big lesson here is not believe the hype, yes bitcoin was fueled by hype but by that time it was going down which means you are late to the party.
3337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How the Bitcoin shortage benefits crypto investors on: November 26, 2020, 05:03:16 AM
What drives the prices is not just the scarcity of bitcoin, if the circulation is also constricted then the prices will drive up because there is abundance in bitcoin but there is no trade happening. It does benefit the long time hodlers but the people that just joining in the hype are late to the party, what they will witness is another price crash and in turn they will sell it at losing value.
3338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the government accept it? on: November 26, 2020, 04:06:06 AM
1. I do not think that they will ever do that, they benefit from it and most countries have central so that will be far from happening, crypto will set people free from banking institutions but governments will try their best to get a piece of the pie.
2. Tax collection is already happening for most people, buying items and equipments already has a tax in it. Internal Revenue have their way to crackdown on tax evaders and they know that they can't be messed with.
3. If a person who does not pay taxes gets a lot of properties or assets in general, it will raise suspicions, and most people who gets a lot of money are not expert in tax evasion so most of the time, they will be caught, it is only a matter of time besides people will not become corrupt if they know that fucking the government will only lead to them getting bled dry from penalties for tax evasions.
3339  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin on high demand Africa nigeria and Malaysia on: November 26, 2020, 03:24:20 AM
Because somehow for them, USD is still not good.
And most of people are afraid on USD because not unlike with Bitcoin, Bitcoin got only limited supply, which is 21 million.
The price of bitcoin in my country is relative with the USD equivalent of bitcoin. I think that in Africa the reason that it is popular is because it is more expensive to use their currency to buy necessities, and the equivalent of bitcoin in those countries are higher, if I am right, the price of bitcoin is relative to dollar in some African countries too.

Hey, don't scare away the newbies Cheesy

Poker rules aren't that hard, after all, I've learned to play five-card poker at the age of 11 and even then it didn't seem like something complex. After a while, I tried taking part in poker tournaments, but they were mostly Texas Hold'em and I wasn't familiar with the rules. Even though in tournaments everything happens quickly and you have to think fast I got the hang of things after 3-4 games. The best way to learn something - is to learn it through practice, imo.
To be more safe, practice playing with your friends so you have a control to what happens, the people that I have played with are okay with just enjoying the game without the problem of money, we have some casino chips laying around and we distributed those equally and played the game, most of the time Chinese poker is what we play but poker is enjoyable.
