^^^^ That! There's nothing wrong with admitting that you're here for the money. The community is unique in that regard, and that gives it a special appeal. But just as in criminal law, the general rule is that motives are irrelevant; only intentions matter. What matters even more is what you do with that intent.
Quote from: Legal Bites
A person may have a noble motive in doing an act but if he intentionally causes wrongful loss, his crime is complete and motive is irrelevant.

Congratulations to Leo Messi, he just passed Pele and became the most goalscorer in South America in national teams. It was a nice hat-trick against Bolivia, he just showed still how hungry he is. Brasil and Argentina's positions are almost guaranteed at this point, they will get the ticket eventually.

Yes. Congratulations to @Argentina on winning Copa America and the long-awaited title. A beautiful goal from Messi!
Now I want Brazil vs Argentina.  Cheesy

3345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 10, 2021, 02:05:47 PM
I can't remember which world cup Qualifier was it (probably 2014), Czech ranked #2 in the world cup Qualifier match, they performed very well but they got out of the tournament at the group stage. I don’t think they are going to defeat Wales. Wales will dominate the match; at least a tidy match & probably a narrow win.

If you think about it, not every team that reaches the final did well in group stages. In fact, very seldom do you see a final where the team that got there got perfect in group stages. My theory is that if you have a really tough time in group, you don't get overconfident in the KO stages. Look at England having really narrow 1-0 wins and still looking quite wobbly.
You made a good point there is another reason why some teams dont perform well in the group stage is because they dont get on the competion rythm from the first game even when they have the potential and a strong squad but and in many cases they lose the first game and they make it far in the competion and thats a goood quality it shows how strong mentally the team is.

The first few games in group stages are the toughest. From there, the knockout rounds are a little easier. Obviously, teams are playing against stronger opponents from other groups, but at this stage luck plays an increasingly important role.
3346  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A fake trading website on: September 08, 2021, 09:24:32 PM
I am not sure if I can get my $5000 out because it asks me to verify my identity, not sure if I should do it because I will disclose my ID to the fake website

Whether you can get your $ 5,000 back depends on your bank. I recommend that you contact them for help.
In the case of a cryptocurrency payment, there is no way for you to get your money back unless the scammers decide to return voluntarily, which is unlikely. An important lesson learned, albeit expensive.
The most important thing is to ensure you do not send any more money to scammers, or any details about yourself, no matter what they ask for. As part of their strategy, they try to extract as much money as possible from each victim, including personal data that they will almost certainly sell on the black market.

Hi examplens,

Thank you so much for the  reply, still finding my way around this forum, I do design work and video editing as a hobby and part time income. I will do some more research on projects where my skills can be used, and where payment might be in ETH.

Any services or goods you can do and deliver online can be charged in crypto. This is exactly the initial concept behind Bitcoin, simply sending money between parties without involving an intermediary. All you need to do is determine the skills you possess and want to offer in the market, then find an effective way to market them. There are plenty of market places where you can display your talents. For example, you can showcase your services on your own personal website or you can open your own shop with an online portfolio. The more you choose the focus area of your business, the better the way you can sell and market your services. This will help you manage your time properly.

"Gooooal! Incredible, Poland level in stoppage time!"

The match was already in the ninetieth minute, and it looked as if England would win, but Szymaski equalized in the closing minutes for Poland.
3349  Other / Meta / Re: Could the merit system demotivate lurkers? on: September 06, 2021, 09:16:44 PM
Perhaps I should have named the title of this post "Why awareness and understanding is vital for Bitcoin" instead. My point is that posting to try and satisfy the merit system will not always lead to better quality content but will instead lead to people trying to satisfy the human limbic system instead. It is the geek version of girls posting quite revealing content to instagram or tiktok for likes.

But that is just my opinion and I do agree that spammers and shitposters have to be kept out.

I understand your point. Some members might be tempted to analyze other posts that have received community recognition and try recreating that content in their own posts in order to gain more merits.
While such attempts have been noticed, it doesn't always work; and more experienced members pick up on them quickly. The merit system is our best option at the moment, so we have to make the most of it.
3350  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think of Windows 11? on: September 06, 2021, 08:55:19 PM
btw, I haven't tried Windows 11 yet, I saw some window 11 reviews on youtube and it looks very normal but I will definitely update my windows 10 to 11 because I believe updating my windows will improve my laptop security.

Yes, there have been some new vulnerabilities reported recently. But even if you don't do the upgrade, Windows 10 provides a lot of security updates. You don't want to skip a month without updating because some of those patches may save your system.
3351  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Signature Campaigns / bounty for Newbies on: September 06, 2021, 06:59:50 PM
Newbies have no chance to participate in the signature campaign. There are two options for you. You can participate in social media bounty or grow up your account first. If you rank up your account then you can participate in the signature campaign.

Was that really necessary? You repeated exactly what JohnBitCo said in his initial reply to this topic.
If you can't add anything new to the discussion, at least be original and don't repeat what's already been said.

Newbies cannot wear the signature, hence you cannot join any signature campaign. You can work in social media bounty which includes twitter, telegram, facebook, article writing and youtube video creation.
In order to join signature campaigns, you need to be a Jr Member.
3352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 06, 2021, 06:44:02 PM
Switzerland was not a weak opponent. Maybe Italy is a strong team, but Switzerland is a good enough team. They are a stable team. And their defense is very good. At the Euro cup, they also performed very well against strong opponents such as France and Spain. Although I also hoped we would see a number of goals in today's match. Because both teams can attack well. However, neither team was able to score a goal.

I wouldn't use the 3-0 win against Switzerland at EURO 2020 as a comparison to yesterday's match since the Italy we saw at that time was completely different from the one we saw yesterday. By the way, the match between Switzerland and Italy took place yesterday, not today.

From what I can tell, there is a lot of gray area here. Some plagiarists get a pass (well, he forgot to add the source, it was his first offense, he contributed so much to the community...), while others get an instant perma-ban and that's it. Where is the line? There must be a line somewhere. There must be defined rules that everyone must follow. I'm not referring to a super-censored version of this community, I just think the same rules should be applied, regardless of who is posting.
3356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 05, 2021, 04:42:03 PM
The match between Argentina and Brazil will be held in just 3 hours. The bad news for Brazil is that players like Allsion, Richarlison, Firmino and Thiagi SIlva will not be in the squad. Performing without them is definitely challenging for Brazil. On the other hand, looking at Neymar, it seems that his fitness is not in a good position now. I am quite skeptical about Brazil's good performance in today's match. I think they will lose to Argentina again.

You might have forgotten that this thread is about UEFA Qualifiers, so you're somewhat off-topic here. Wink
I'm not sure if there is a thread for CONMEBOL Qualifiers but you can post in this thread here.
3357  Other / Meta / Re: Do you think some plagiarism can happen "by mistake"? on: September 05, 2021, 07:27:35 AM
Forgetting to cite a source is something anyone could do, and in Mpamaegbu's case I think it might be the truth.  I just posted my opinion about it in the Report Plagiarism thread where it was uncovered.  If that turns out to be the only instance of Mpamaegbu not citing a source, then I'd probably give him the benefit of the doubt if I were the manager of the BestChange campaign.  As I said in my post, I'm fairly certain Mpamaegbu knows the consequences of plagiarizing and that a good number of members are hard at work sniffing out examples of it.

Well, Mpamaegbu got banned but I think he should appeal the ban. I know I just recently complained that plagiarists don't get banned after multiple reports but can't we just find a nice cozy middle ground. There is enough reason to believe that he didn't intend to claim the text as his own.

I bet he now regrets joining BestChange at all, as he could have continued to live happily in the Roobet campaign and no one would have been any wiser.  Wink

Anyhow, back to the topic. How about introducing three strikes rule? First strike - a warning, second strike - a temporary ban, third strike - a permanent ban.
In essence, this would eliminate serial plagiarists and give those who inadvertently plagiarized a second chance.
3358  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: September 04, 2021, 08:16:36 PM
The only thing that still unclear is where is the original source? If the post from steemit platform is the source we are talking about then three people did copy it to bitcointalk without providing a link.
<>

I have found another source.
A Telegram channel called @ShahTrading has a post on the same date as the steemit article, but I cannot figure out the timestamps. It looks like the steemit article is a copy, but I cannot say for sure.

https://t.me/ShahTrading/679
(I am not sure if everyone can see the post on the web, if not, I will post a screenshot.)

dkbit98, thank you for putting this list together. I understand now why open source is imperative for hardware wallets.
In the meantime, I'd like to read more reviews of some of the most popular models from this list, not just the simple listings of technical specs. You might have some resources on the subject in your bookmarks archive. Feel free to share any.
3360  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I get banned for selling Black Hat Software for "Learning purposes"? on: September 04, 2021, 03:38:48 PM
A bit off-topic, but what does blue hat and red hat mean in this context (security/hacking software)? I've no idea about blue hat and i only know red hat refer to the company.

A green hat hacker - a wannabe hacker
A blue hat hacker - in Microsoft's world, employed by the company to find vulnerabilities in unreleased products (similar to white hats). In some circles, a hacker seeking revenge.
A red hat hacker - a vigilante hacker (like white hats, but with significantly different methodology and goals)

And you probably already know about black hats, white hats and gray hats.
