running very well 1 s-7 and 2 avalon 6's .   the room is 86 f due to crazy warm weather  72 f today new record.

33582  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Large review of Finksy/J4bbrwock server psus compared to ATX psu- photos up on: December 15, 2015, 12:20:12 AM
philipma, thanks for doing the review. I plan to buy a couple of boards once Finksy have them in stock. Does the board come with 4 pin fan connectors?

Three pin.

The Amazon scythe fans are three pin.  And they are by far the best to use.

Here is why the s-7 fan is louder then the scythe fans.

@ j4bberwock I do have the second plate and I have a friend with a cnc router.

I built the pc that runs it. I am have him cut some from aluminum or brass.
Alternatively I have a scroll saw and thin wood I may use that.

But to all looking at the thread just look at the photo with $800 worth of atx psu this gives the same watts and has thirty pcie jacks

You can run three s-7's with proper pcie jacks all thirty of them. That is huge.

@ rockyforever it is under 2 blankets  first one is fire proof it lowers noise and directs air flow

This 4000 watt setup is amazing!   yeah you need a better quality fan mount plate as it is easy to crack.

but it is really quiet  with these fans

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KEST8PQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

but you can not go over 2200 watts if you use them.

So I have these on order

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001JKNMBE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I was able to run 2  avalon 6's at high volts 12.57 they did 3850gh each or 7700gh  the psu was warm but okay.

I have a lot of fans and I wanted to hook up the s-7 and run all three on the one psu.
here is final setup notice 20 pcie cables
I replaced 1 evga 1600 watt t2  400usd
I replaced 2 seasonic platinum 400usd
so 800usd worth of atx psu  were replaced by your 1 4000 watter

I am running 1 s-7 and 2 avalon 6's  hashing 12000gh using 3600 watts

3 cooling fans for the psu set at middle 12.17 volts

under the rug in a sound/wind tunnel two avalon 6's and 1 s-7 which needs more sound proofing. note wind flow is not stopped so gear is cool and sound is okay.

Yes bear with me

this is the 2880watt break out board  with sets of 3 ft 15 gauge custom pcie cables white and with 2 ft 15 gauge custom cables yellow.

I did all in white 15 gauge to be consistent for tests.

here is the 4000 watt break out board with 10   3 ft cables
it is set to mid speed.

well it has made these threads a lot more interesting.

I wonder how price will hold under all this action.
33586  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Large review of Finksy/J4bbrwock server psus compared to ATX psu- photos up on: December 14, 2015, 08:46:52 PM
Yes I did I just hooked up the 2 avalon 6's and I am using the middle power setting on the 4000 watt break out board.

middle power on the lcd is 12.17 volts

just about 3500 gh for each avalon 6
I will let it settle and do more photos

but if you look above the seasonic were much lower in gh 6700gh for two

to be fair my garage was at 91f  because outside temps were 72 f .    About 25 f above normal

hit switch and volts moved to 12.57 on meter

gui results are nice

I am close to 3900gh x 2 = 7800gh
33587  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Setting up new diff thread Dec 6 to Dec 20 picks closed. on: December 14, 2015, 06:56:27 PM
Jeez...
It looks like it really might be a 20% difficulty jump this time.

I thought i would never see those kind of difficulty changes, anymore.

even if we do 20%  do not forget the monster 1 day 212 blocks made  if it was bitfury doing a test .  It means they can do 180 to 250 more ph then what  we will  jump to in a few days.

Estimated Next Difficulty:   93,646,950,212 (+18.39%)  and about 700ph.

So say the above happens and one day 1 of the next jump bitfury adds 200 ph

we would then go to 110 diff  and 900ph the next jump.

The above case is not unrealistic.

d57heinz PPN method of prediction  may prove very good.

33590  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: F2Pool is directly threatening Bitcoin's future on: December 14, 2015, 02:50:33 AM
FYI, we have just updated the pool software to reduce the number of empty blocks. The effectiveness is yet to be evaluated, but I think it should help a lot.
Since this announcement, there have been 6 empty blocks added to the chain.  None of which came from f2pool.

BW.com - 2 of their 11 blocks were empty
AntPool - 4 of their 21 blocks were empty

f2pool - 0 of their 14 blocks were empty

So, at least on the surface in the past 16 and a half hours or so, whatever f2pool did appears to have greatly reduced their empty blocks.  It still doesn't excuse the SPV mining... but at least in this short timeframe it appears to be a step in the right direction.

We have two empty blocks in the past few hours. Investigation has revealed that:

For block 388239, which was found at 23:23:45Z, was due to the previous block by AntPool failed to send out their block in time. Our nodes did not receive the complete block data of 388238 until 17 seconds later, or 23:24:02Z;

For block 388252, which was found at 00:33:02Z, was due to our extreme luck. We found this block only 1 second after the previous block by bitclubpool.

http://poolbench.antminer.link/ has more timing data. You can see there are only four records for AntPool’s block 388238 (poor block propagation). And the time difference between 388251 and 388252 is very small.

You have improved and I for one do appreciate this.  If we can get antpool to follow suit  we could really cut this empties down a lot.

As everyone knows Bitfury may be ready to put 200ph on line over the next 10 days. I need go back to see but I believe they have quite a few empties as it stands now.

With F2pool  and hopefully Antpool reducing empties any Bitfury problems will be lessened.

We really will all need to pull together as the ½ ing is coming price of coins will need to be over 600usd for many miners to stay in the game. So a ton of infighting between all the pools miners and developers will not help price.

17 blocks for pick to end
we have about 1 -2 hours for picks to end.

Guys remember the 212 block day  it came and it went well it must have been bitfury testing see below

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/bitfury-opening-third-carbon-neutral-bitcoin-mining-operation-georgia-1532998

No one know how good they are , but

 50 mw x 3 =  150 ph
 50 mw x 4  = 200 ph
 50 mw x 5 =  250 ph

we did 212 vs a norm of 144  but all the other days we are doing close to 160

so we did 212 vs 160   which is 52/160 = 32.5%  so .325 x 566ph = 183ph

So if it works and does not explode (we can hope for that)  and based on the monster 1 day spike    they are going to add 150 to 200 ph.

This is good new not bad news.  we are doing about 650ph this period add 200 = 850 ph lastly next month some more will  be added.

So by my birthday (Jan 27)  we will be touching 999ph   or 1eh   I think  eh   comes after ph.

Now go back to sept we were 404 so 404 to 999 = a factor of 2.5 price was   230 now 430 a factor of  1.87

so if you did not upgrade your gear   2.5 is higher then 1.87

but if you switched out to s-7's  you power is 2x better.

so 2.5 diff jump  would not be so bad since  with 1.87 price jump and 2x power improvement  the good factor is 3.74

What is better is if you have long held s-5's from last jan's price war  you can still mine them and finally order your new s-7's today.

We will then go flat like last year

Times is up picks are now closed we have 816 blocks left.  so good luck to all that have picked.!!!
33593  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Gigantic difficulty jump of the last few days (speculation) on: December 13, 2015, 11:12:42 PM
the monster spike was a bitfury test:

No one know how good they are powerwise , but

 50 mw x 3 =  150 ph  is .33 watt a gh
 50 mw x 4  = 200 ph  is .25 watt a gh
 50 mw x 5 =  250 ph  is .20 watt a gh

It is likely new Bitfury chips run well below .1 watt a gh (or Joules/Gigahash).

Their press release and site claims "16nm chip that is expected to achieve 0.06 J/GH this year.".  See http://www.coindesk.com/bitfury-completion-16nm-bitcoin-mining-asic/

KNC claim 0.07 J/GH. See http://www.coindesk.com/kncminer-deploys-next-generation-16nm-bitcoin-asic/

So it is safe to assume the latest miners run below 0.1 J/GH.   Or 2 or 3 times more energy efficiently that an S7.
The mystery spike was about 200 ph if your numbers are try they did not use all they can do.

So we will soon know if we do 200 or 300 ph

That's interesting.  I still don't understand why so many people like that pool other than constant finds.

A constant reliable daily payout is a big thing if you are running a lot of hash.

The power bill is constant say 1040 usd a month if you are running  12 s-7's

To be able to know you are going to be paid every day makes it easy to pay your maintenance costs.

Or I can't call my power company and Ask could you wait until I hit the next block to pay you?

I run 3 s-7's and 2 avalon 6's

  I use  5600watts  or 5.6 kwatts x 24 x 30 x .10 = 403.20 usd a month for power.   A steady payout of 0.13 btc a day makes for easy planing.

No variance and variance happens more often then you may like.

Guys f2pool has said he will effort less empty blocks.

lets see if antpool does the same.

if both pools do it  it is a big deal.

It will take a week to clock blocks to be pretty sure if the effort is legit.

I respect f2pool for saying he is making the effort.

Lets remember we are sharing a golden goose here.  lets not tear it apart.

If both antpool and f2pool reduce the empty blocks by 50% over the next week it is a start in a good direction.

Even if they are doing it by flipping a switch SPV on odd days no SPV on even days.

It is a push to help rather then a fuck you attitude.

While not prefect it would greatly reduce the problem If they just did that simple move.
