OMG, this hat obsession is affecting the meta too. What is all about those hats?
How the hell this even started? I gave up lurking in the Wall Observer it's almost impossible to find something there, it's like facebook, you just enter there and suddenly, half an hour gone.
Read this:
~

There you go, another half hour gone. Thanks for the input, It was almost 400 pages back.. I don't think I could ever find it myself.

~
You don't want to fuck with the WO people, they'll dump so much of those TA's on your head, you might start to think the Earth is actually flat. And you'll prefer wearing those hats instead of taking crack on the weekends whilst sobbing about bitcoin's price. :/

And also, you'll eventually end up joining in with LoyceV , by falling into the trap(aka the hypnotism caused by Micgoosens).

No way for me to go for a hat like these. NO.
If I make an exception, then it will be for something like this..

3362  Other / Meta / Re: [TUTORIAL] Less than one minute to make your hat (or other avatar) look better!! on: November 23, 2018, 08:57:31 AM
Photoshop will make the process more simple, you no need to erase the background using any tools in the latest version of Photoshop application, just double click the background and can fill with none to erase background by single tap.

Not everyone can afford buying Photoshop if you not gonna use it professionally (you are not suggesting to use illegal copy aren't you?).It's quite costly but GIMP is free and does the same job as Photoshop so it's the best solution.

BTW, good tutorial, it can apply for many different avatars, not only those crazy hats.
3364  Other / Meta / Re: Attention! How To Fight Back Scams? on: November 23, 2018, 08:23:48 AM
Just a to clarify, OP. You have received an email  not a PM in the forum, right?
So what this have to do with the forum? We cannot fight here the spam and scams received by email, we cannot ban/tag them.
If it was a PM from a forum user, then can be a bit easier, but fighting anonymous source it's quite difficult task.
As the previous guys said you can only make a thread here , to inform other users, that's all.
3365  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: November 23, 2018, 08:15:03 AM
Some users are missing for the user database.
For example : Nait500vail
I tried to search for his name nothing then for his ID : 2389994
Again, no results.

The account is a Jr.Member registered in September 2018.

The merit is still messed up.

Just a note:
The parser was down yesterday evening.
3366  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: November 23, 2018, 08:01:06 AM
Every time I run out of sMerit I'm happy that I have no more responsibilities to search for good posts and i can just browse around. Then someone filled my bags again like TMAN the last time and here I am again, looking for posts Wink I guess it's the same with merit sources, but without the small breaks.
I've never been out of sMerit since it was introduced. But I'm sending more lately, so that's something.

Even before the merit source time? I had 1 sMerit airdropped but I gave it away to theymos for the merit announcement , then I got my first merit the next day and since then I always had at least 1. Just a few months ago I run out of sMerit for the fist time, but it was just for a short time. Now I gave away all my sMerit and I feel good. I feel like obligation to browse the forum if there are some sMerit left to give, yeah sounds crazy I know...

@LoyceV Just post them I'm sure there are people interested to report. I would love to join the fun but I have some deadlines at work and it's this time of the year is worst.
3368  Other / Meta / Re: Save Bitcoin Discussion subforum on: November 22, 2018, 10:22:54 PM
Volunteers can make changes. I think the Club we made put a stick into the wheel to many spamers, bumping bots and fake projects.

We stopped the hompgraph attacks, we closed down many fake ANN threads who were using paid bots to gain popularity. Many plagiarists got busted too. You may say too strong words, but it's true and i'm proud of being part of it.

The good thing is that we are growing in number and popularizing the use of report to the mods button.

I'm not active as before but till the end of January all my renovation projects should be over (hopefully but I still doubt that) and I'll share more of my time here again.

3369  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: November 22, 2018, 07:42:36 PM
However, I am very active in activities
Yeah, you are very active with activities. You have till now made 456 reports posts but didn't get 1 merit.
Even worse: he's advertising a website (in his profile) that asks people for their private keys, and thus goes against the the first rule of crypto.

Seems like it's a miracle to find a merit worthy posts nowadays.
I have the same "FWP". Exactly a month ago I merited many different posts, and since I wasn't that active in the past days, my sMerit is piling up again.

Every time I run out of sMerit I'm happy that I have no more responsibilities to search for good posts and i can just browse around. Then someone filled my bags again like TMAN the last time and here I am again, looking for posts Wink I guess it's the same with merit sources, but without the small breaks.
3370  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: November 22, 2018, 05:17:35 PM
Then, nowadays, getting merit without any corruption means MIRACLE. ?
Suppose getting merit from better post could be a natural bitcointalk phenomena and not miracle.

I have some sMerit I want to give away and just went through your post history but I couldn't find any worthy post. Most of your posts are in a spamy megathreads. Seems like it's a miracle to find a merit worthy posts nowadays.
3371  Other / Meta / Re: [Suggestion]To draw more attention to the rules! on: November 22, 2018, 12:40:04 AM
1. Create a Forum Rules Button on the Top Buttons Bar and when you click on it you get to the Forum Rules.
|. Even iasenko thought that the "more" section was new in the menu bar.
I'm not so active at the moment, too many projects IRL, so just coming to check something and give some merit, if I find someone deserving.
At first I thought, OK this is a new menu, I haven't seen it /open it before, it should be new and I post the thread. Then I checked all the open browser tabs on the phone ( I had some old ones) and again, this menu was there. Then I realize that this change was made not so long ago but it's nothing new. Then I read all the comments, and everything was clear.

If you just add a menu it won't draw so much attention, I already experienced it. I still thinking that the "news feed" is the best option, and if you have a running text, it will draw much more attention.
3372  Other / Meta / Re: Did someone noticed the new "MORE" menu in the main forum menu? on: November 21, 2018, 08:30:37 PM
OK, it was new to me. Thanks for the info. I'm locking this one then.
3373  Other / Meta / Did someone noticed the new "MORE" menu in the main forum menu? on: November 21, 2018, 07:53:16 PM
This is something new.. isn't it?? Or I just see it now.. c'mon... / I'm pretty sure it wasn't there the past days/

@theymos, I know you like surprises but shall we have more than what it is the menu now?
3374  Other / Meta / Re: Eventually became Sr. Member. Thanks to forum. on: November 21, 2018, 10:51:34 AM
When you put an effort it's rewarded at the end, so all the quick buckers here will envy you how you manage to get all those merit, and probably accuse you for blackmarketing. Don't listen to them, you have invested your time correctly in learning and helping so, just be yourself as you've been til now.

As long as I understand what you are saying you English is perfect. Put a side this inhibition.
Congratulations and good luck!

Most of the fiat currencies are backed up with gold/silver. What we do with bitcoin then?

Fiat currencies, by definition, are not backed up by anything, just like Bitcoin.

https://www.fool.com/investing/general/2015/12/06/fiat-currency-what-it-is-and-why-its-better-than-a.aspx
Quote
Fiat currency is legal tender whose value is backed by the government that issued it. The U.S. dollar is fiat money, as are the euro and many other major world currencies.

This approach differs from money whose value is underpinned by some physical good such as gold or silver, called commodity money. The United States, for example, used a gold standard for most of the late 19th and early 20th century. A person could exchange U.S. currency -- as well as many public and even some private debts --  for gold as late as 1971.

A fiat currency's value is underpinned by the strength of the government that issues it, not its worth in gold or silver.

Fiat currencies are backed up by government that issues it.

There is no good / silver backing it up anywhere in the world. By definition.if it is backed, it is not Fiat.

I don't think that is a problem for Bitcoin or any other Fiat. There are some cryptocurrencies backed up by gold... But isn't it better to just buy gold or gold etf?

Yeah, my poor English is playing a big role here. Thanks for the clarification. I knew that the Ruble is gold-backed currency but also government-backed too the same time but I had to read a bit more about fiat.

This is quite intriguing.

3377  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Improvements in Bounty Campaigns on: November 20, 2018, 10:45:31 AM
Since this thread is bumped again, I'll just add the thread I started some time ago for to report
Campaign Managers accepting shitposters
Is not very popular at the moment but I think with the time this will change. If we get control over the management of the bounties and add a bit of control the spam problem will be greatly reduced.
3378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Discussion]How to decentralize the price of the bitcoin? Self-moderated. on: November 20, 2018, 10:34:43 AM
Again the bitcoin price drop is a hot topic, I still think that relaying only on supply and demand factor is not enough to have it stable.
This is a revolutionary
To make a stable currency, we need to back it up with something valuable. Most of the fiat currencies are backed up with gold/silver. What we do with bitcoin then?
3379  Other / Meta / Re: How to reveal spammers who pretending to be translators of native speakers on: November 20, 2018, 09:47:24 AM
It is a multi-million spam(scam) system here if you haven't found out yet.
99% of the altcoin "projects" appear only to get attention and to fool some investors for $.

Fake projects make fake announcements to distribute fake tokens to the fake user( crowd of spammers) here controlled by fake Bounty managers in a wish to get REAL money at the end. Often your money.

Those fake translations are just a small piece in the whole fake spam system here, I don't think you can break it.
