3381  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: selling 60-80 GH/s ButterflyLabs (BFL) Single on: March 30, 2014, 08:13:14 PM
Tried to post this on eBay (my first eBay sell), after some time trying, got sick of their additional rules, premium charges, and stuff like that. They do not allow me to sell it worldwide as my account is new. Fine. So I'm auctioning / selling it here.

Auctioning / selling a BFL Single.

This machine has been mining non-stop flawlessly since it arrived 5 months ago. Selling it because with price of electricity in Spain rising, and difficulty too, it is not long till it will make small profit. Selling it to whoever has cheaper electricity costs.

Mint condition. I opened it for better refrigeration, and also upgraded stock fans with better ones. Will sell it open or closed in original case as customer requests, adding stock fans. Works flawlessly registering around 69ºC on chips die, with bfgminer.

Working 24/7, very stable. The hash rate varies, but never goes below 60 GH/s. At some point has reached and sustained 80 GH/s. It has never been overclocked (not sure if it is possible, or how to).

Auction : 12 days from now. Reserve price.
Instant selling : 1250 US$ or 950 €uro

Payment:
- BTC
- Paypal accepted, but really not like it much. Prefer BTC

Shipping:
- within Europe (EU), no customs will apply. Will send it by regular parcel mail, expedited, or UPS, as customer requires. Customer pays shipping fees.
- out of Europe: customer pays shipping fees and also any customs that might proceed.

Returns:
- only return available if machine is not working or doing consistently less than 50 GH/s, within the first two days.
- do not accept any other return, because shipping it back, maybe paying customs (if comes back from out of Europe), etc., is a pain in the ass, a lot of days not mining, and a big loss. Plus the machine works perfectly, has been working perfectly for 5 months. It's much more stable than the other miner we have.

 i just like to HODL

such baghold meme...  much explain

 i'm running KnC hardware

i was talking about the mining companies not their customers..  they will sell BTC into the dirt

Some things you can control and some you can't. There is/was absolutely no way to stop hardware making companies to set up their own farm (if you know one do tell) so i don't worry about that. I had a small shock last summer, but i adapted and i do my ROI calculations usually with higher difficulty instead of just the next one.
3383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 30, 2014, 05:50:43 PM
has someone figures about max. chip temperature of Jupiter October and November batch. did Jupiters died because of to high chip temperature?
85C is top recommended max operating temp.  I had some hit 95 and survive just fine(not recommended)
Every board I had liked 75-80 for optimum performance.
Some say chilling works, but most of them have never seen 80C on their ASIC temps. If it were a GPU...
I'd say "cool it", but a Jupiter likes it toasty on the asic.
CLEAN power was most important.....  meaning no spikes and fluctuations in the electrical feed.

also... tuning suite.... LOWER the voltages instead of raise to wake dead dies.

Wait aren't the sensors placed on VRMs or on boards? 85C for a chip isn't a bit low? I've read that some chips can go up to 120-130C.

Hi everyone.
Please let me preface this with the following.
Thanks in advance to those that may respond to my stupid questions with any sort of positive answers.
...and thanks to those that refrain from replying with some belittling & unhelpful remark to us/me, BTC rookies.

I'm a bit late to the show & I was pondering why would one pay $4995 per SP10 (1.4TH/s miner) x2, (shipping not included, add another $800USD for that), for a total of approx. $10K-USD when KNCminer is delivering their 3TH/s Neptune for $10K-USD ($300USD for shipping) in a couple of weeks, if they keep to their shipping sched.

I would compare power usage between the two compan't miners in KW p/hr being used but I can't seem to find the Neptune's power usage on their website.

Can someone share some light on this?  Thanks again.

Hello rookie. Let me teach you how to help yourself in the future. If you want to make an investment please don't take anyone's word for granted. Always pass the information through your filter and make the decision by knowing that you are 100% satisfied with it and not because someone told you so.

Before answering your post you need to know that the data in it is very wrong. First of all if you want to buy 2 SP10 products you don't need to pay 4995$ x2 because there is a promo product of 2 x SP10 for 7995$ with shipping in May(plus shipping maybe). Secondly, depending on your country, you may need to pay VAT for that Neptune so you need to add that to the cost (you may need to pay VAT for SP10 too, but you will pay it much less than Neptune). Thirdly the shipping of Neptune you say is in a couple of weeks. A couple could mean anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks (their deadline is Q2 2014 meaning 30 June 2014). They never announced another shipping date time.

Now we get to the getting-the-ROI part! The thing that you need to consider when comparing the 2 is that you can get the 2x SP10 in May and you can start hashing and earning BTCs then. The Neptune may ship in May, but it can also ship at the end of June. We don't know yet since there is no info on that. I can't predict the the difficulty in May and the following months and i can't predict the exchange rate, but considering that the hashrates are close to equal and that difficulty is going to the moon then you will hash with a couple of week faster with the SP10s than with the Neptune. The choice is yours.

The objective is to get the machine up and running ASAP, what could it be 1 or 2 or 3 days to generate coin to cover the cost of freight?

Just checked most shipping options quickly

1. FedEx 2 day service is indeed 800 dollars, no slower service offered than that

2. UPS does have slower service, cheapest is 7 day delivery for 600 dollars

3. Israel Post Office Air Mail cheaper at 300 dollars but no indication how long, (guess 2 weeks?)

Do the math, get it immediately and start mining, or save a few scrap dollars up front and lose 2 weeks worth of mining.

https://wwwapps.ups.com/ctc/request?loc=en_IL
http://www.israelpost.co.il/npostcalc.nsf/Calculator2?OpenForm&L=EN&menu=10&hidec=5

On average, without power costs, 1.4 TH/s should make ~64$ per day.

And dropping Sad

are any of you customers cost basis lower than KNC or bitfury?  goodluck watching the price of bitcoin get hammered while you wonder who on earth could be selling coins so cheaply

 Roll Eyes

I don't quite understand your question but yes i'm running KnC hardware and i just like to HODL so don't care about the price.

I wonder if Luke will get paid to claim he had one shipped to him.

There is no active bet on the BFL shipping so i don't think so.

Well then, would you care to take a stab at why so many of these startup bitcoin ASIC companies cant get product out the door?    Any why they want to sell chips?

Who goes out and spends millions on NRE for a 28nm ASIC with the intention to screw people over by not shipping product?

Make no mistake, I am in no way condoning the ignorance and incompetence that many of these companies exhibit.  I have been screwed over by almost all on the list that I listed... which is how I have first hand knowledge of why each of them has had issues.!

Except BFL i think the other companies had good intentions, but bad knowledge or they just made the wrong decisions at the wrong time (AMT rushed to make 400 cases which later weren't useful, HashFail booked CIARA assembly time, if they really did it and not lied about it, without testing board design first, and so on). Remember that BFL's CEO is a convicted felon for mail scamming so i have no doubt that their intentions were bad from the start. On the other hand Avalon never had any problem getting products out of the door, they sold customers stuff to 3rd party buyers because they got greedy and also instead of shipping B2 Avalons they mined with them first for a period of time and then they shipped them.

The problem with the startup bitcoin ASIC companies is that they know that they can a lot of money from pre-orders and they don't think about the rest. They just want to grab a lot of money in very little time. The plan goes second i guess (see HF promising full BTC refunds only to get sales or the MPP).

Please tell me how were you screwed by KnC.
3390  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: March 29, 2014, 03:40:13 PM
Josh honestly believes that it was I who put a major dent into his enterprise, and that he had a handle of everything till I came along and fucked it all up. And that I am the one that has caused a decrease in sales and that I destroyed his brand.

Unfortunately, I've met people like Josh before, and it doesn't work out too good for them in the long run. They want to have complete control of any given situation. Case in point, Josh even had a cease and desist letter at his ready, but didn't have to play that card, because unbeknown to him I had control of the playing-mister-nice-guy deck.

Even up the last minute, Josh still wasn't sure if what he was doing was the right thing, but I just continued to talk sweet him, patting him on his back, assuring him that together we'll turn this company around. When I finally got back in my car and Josh was returning to the office, I said out loud what a fuckin' idiot, and smiled (inside car outta earshot).

More fun facts:

Josh does not do drugs. But, he operates on very little sleep and mega cans of RedBull.
Supposedly, Josh and his partner, Jim Brown, have mortgage off their homes to keep AMT going.
According to Josh, there is no cash for me or for any refunds. They are just getting by.
At one point, while outside smoking a cigarette with Josh still inside, Jim Brown slipped up and referred to Josh as his brother with, "My brother knows more about what's going on with the company than I do."

So now we have 2 Josh tards on this forum. Great!

Again very well played. Such a good read and such a fail company. I'm waiting for your next target PG! What stakes you used to play poker?

I think HF may need to retract that 'most powerful ASIC' statement: isn't this using a more powerul chip: http://btcolympus.com ?
and one of their customers with a working unit: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7216.msg5966533#msg5966533
You learned nothing about scammers and scams, right?
Posted from Bitcointa.lk - #fgKQqhqlvuSxohan
so you are calling scam on that one too? OK. was just asking. once bitten.. and all that.

First they are claiming 550GH per chip. HashFail has reached 700-750? GH per chip. So HF still has the fastest chip.

Secondly: 2 posts user? picture of only one case and blurred cgminer way back in background? Also might want to read here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=362756.0 it's obviously a scam. I still don't understand why is it so hard for people to spot scams.

ALL of these companies Im sure have trays of chips sitting on shelves doing nothing.     Their issues are that they cant build boards fast enough, or they dont know how to properly design a power regulator, or they cant cool the chip they designed.

Thank you cedivad for pointing this. Somehow i didn't even read it the first time. All i can say is WOW. You are a tard troll from my point of view after reading this. So KnC announces that they will have a 10 MW datacenter ready in a few months and you are telling us that "ALL" companies have chips doing nothing and that they can't build boards fast enough? O'RLY??? How does this picture look to you? So sick of dumbfucks who can't even do a little research before talking out of their ass...

Transparency...

four weeks ago we hired a design team to help us design a customized cage for the modules. We could have always opted to go with the swiss case and produce but even they have been modifying that as well.

Transparency...

AMT logic: we can go with the swiss design, but we won't because they will(or "have been" not really sure when the case choice was made. before or after they modify their case?) modify it. WTF? I still don't understand why they didn't go with the swiss case. Can someone explain me?

When did AMT received the chips? Was it only four weeks ago?
3396  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: March 29, 2014, 12:14:10 PM
The chip itself has an overheat threshold which is around 130's C. If the chip shuts down, the chain breaks cause the whole the unit to basically shut down from a hashing perspective. If you're using putty, you'll see an error message similar to CMD_READ_REG ERROR. If you see this, unplug it, wait 30 minutes restart it via putty and do the following:

root
amt
killall cgminer
cgminer -DT

And check to see if the cores in each chip are ok.

Also there are two 4-5 fans in this case. There are two 140's under the cage blow air up through the fins. The 200mm exhaust on top and the 120mm x 1 or 2 in the front of the case blowing air in.

So...if you have 2-4 restarts like the highlighted one and you are looking at 1-2 hours of downtime daily plus that you need to monitor the thing the whole fucking day. AMT you must be very proud of your work.
3397  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: March 29, 2014, 12:08:21 PM
As someone who has been in hardware development for many years, EVERY bitcoin ASIC vendor has mainly had issues with the Board design, and Thermals/Mechanicals.

Once the chip design is done, its real easy to call the Chip FAB up and ask for chips...

KNC -  Ran out of VR modules because they bought an off the shelf part.  Then had Capacitors catch fire probably due to not spec for enough ripple current.

Proof? KnC never ran out of VR modules. They even put more than needed on the first boards just to be sure nothing goes wrong. Yes they had some capacitors catch fire but i don't think it was for more than 20 customers which is ~5.5% out of 3600 Jupiters. But the units are stable as fuck. The other vendors hardware, even if they didn't had problems with components catching fire, they weren't so stable or they just died. So i'm waiting for proof for the statement that KnC ran out of VR modules otherwise it means that you are just talking out of your ass.
