For those of you who want to see me banned, I'm sorry but if you open your history books Nazi Germany wasn't a good thing.  Theymos, I fully understand where they're coming from..at least Theymos is open to the idea if he believes this person would be a positive contributor going forward.

Roll Eyes

Corruption/nepotism/favouritism by bending the rules for certain people who have a few friends here isn't a good thing either. I'm all for second chances but only if it's fair to everyone. The rules about copy and pasting are very strict here and shouldn't be bent or broken just for one or two people otherwise it leaves a gaping hole in the system that everyone will want to exploit or use as a reference/excuse as the previous time someone was let off has been here.

------

People who get caught copy and pasting should have their signature removed for a year or something. See if they stick around and contribute something worthwhile and if they do then they get it back. That way you can still contribute but you can't earn and having the signature removed for a year is better than indefinitely with a ban.

3383  Other / Meta / Re: Banned Account Question on: April 30, 2018, 07:54:15 PM
But copy and pasting is black and white: Copy and paste = ban.
You could have argued that before, but after 1 exception has been made you no longer can.

And this is the exact issue in unbanning even one person creates. Lone shark shouldn't have been unbanned without adding exceptions to the rules for everyone not just one case. We should look at that decision as a hasty error that wasn't thought through properly and we certainly shouldn't be using that one case as a reason to acquiesce to this one unless defined exceptions are made.

Making exceptions to the rule just screams of favouritism or nepotism and doing so is opening up a huge can of worms that we're going to have to deal with when everybody else starts making their case to be unbanned. What grounds do we give exceptions to plagiarism from now on? If they have a few friends here? They've done a few trades? They have sick relatives? They're a Senior Member and above? They've done a giveaway? They've made a helpful post? To me this is literally just bending or re-writing the rules to serve a friend of somebody and nobody has been asking for exceptions to the rule before this.
I don't think you could set up a "grading check mark kind of list" for something like that. When it comes to making exceptions, it should be a case-by-case basis but that would involve a lot of work (obviously).

But then this is just opening it up to abuse and complaints when mods start unbanning people they like or when friends of people kick up a fuss. We can't say copy and pastes = ban, unless a mod decides otherwise based on no defined criteria.

Please advice how do I remove secret question since I already set up one  Undecided[/b][/color]

Can you help me on this (answering) @hilariousandco please.

You're best asking theymos about this.

Where is it? Post it here so somebody can verify it.

hilariousandco doesn't handle account recovery. You must read the description in that given link.

After you've done with the signed message using the template, carefully do this (don't spam their inbox):

3385  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do not consider my account as spam{quite from all twitter, Facebook campaign} on: April 30, 2018, 07:36:55 PM
I am regularly posting good post from past 2 months with ICO campaign post, But I didn't get the merit because of joining the ICO campaign OF twitter, facebook. Some of the members consider my account as shit account/campaign account.

From today onwards, I quite from all twitter, facebook campaign for the ICO, So pls don't consider myself account as spam account or campaign account. Now I will do only useful and quality post.

You don't need to announce this nor do you need to stop claiming bounties as this isn't why you're not getting merit, but you're not going to get merit for bounty posts.

As @Tman says, I have an advice for you. Join the translation program to improve your English and you can also earn income from it

What translation program? Do you mean translation bounties? People shouldn't be offering translations unless they're fluent in both the languages they're translating to/from.
3386  Other / Meta / Re: Banned Account Question on: April 30, 2018, 07:32:23 PM
So we should unfairly punish users from certain countries and give older users a free pass to copy and paste? And he also only copied and pasted for the sig money. Why else would he have done it.
As I've argued elsewhere, when deciding on a punishment you can't, and should not look at a case as it were a black and white issue. Look at every law system in any somewhat sane country. Besides, the Loan Shark ban removal has set a precedence for other unbans of more notable people.

But copy and pasting is black and white: Copy and paste = ban.

You're drawing to a false equivalency. You can't equate a random shitposter that literally does nothing other than shitpost to get money with someone who is actively involved/engaged in the community. Additionally, I'd argue that less than 1% of the people that got banned for this behavior would fall in the 2nd category (which is obviously a number I just randomly threw out based on my memory of the past cases that I've seen). I might argue this more, but this is a bigger issue than this case (as you've mentioned) and would probably go somewhat off-topic.

But how do we now equate them? There have been numerous people who have been banned for one or just a few copy and pastes. It's not fair to all those users who made a silly mistake and never got the chance to establish themselves here. Maybe they would have been different had they received a warning first or had a second chance.

3387  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system should be removed ! on: April 30, 2018, 11:57:39 AM
A simple signature ban and all your spamming problems in this forum would disappear in seconds...
And this solution has been suggested many times since I've been a member here.  It's not going to happen, since the forum generates large amounts of money via traffic, and I'd say most of the traffic is in the form of individuals participating in campaigns and bounties.  Nixing sig campaigns is off the table as far as I know.

It's not. Theymos has previously stated that if the merit system doesn't work then they next step will likely be to remove signatures completely. Let's face it, this is the only way this will ever put a stop once and for all to the nonsense that is spouted here constantly all day every day. These people complaining about the merit system should just shut up and deal with it because if signatures are ever removed then 99.9 percent of them will leave the same day and never return so they should work with what opportunity they have right now until it's gone for good.
3388  Other / Meta / Re: Banned Account Question on: April 30, 2018, 11:43:47 AM
I do think this is a case of a mistake by a respected member who hadn't read the rules.

But when one of these "pajeet" posters as you like to call them does the same you're not defending them saying they just probably haven't read the rules.

Bitcointalk.org is a BIG part of my life.  It's an escape from reality, it's a place where I've made good friends, and it's something that quite frankly makes me happy.  At the time of those posts, I was on my cell phone at the hospital taking care of my mother.  At the time I did have posts to make for the sig campaign.  Quite frankly the only reason I made the posts while at the hospital fearing my mother was going to die was to get my mind off of it.  I mindlessly made a few posts and I regret it more than anything.  I've been going through so much lately with my family...one thing that really helps, that I love, is bitcoin and this website.

I messed up during a time in my life where I thought I'd no longer have either parent.  My brother is mentally ill and my mom awaits a new liver as she fights an uphill battle.  I go to bed and wake up every single day wondering if all I'll have left is a sister.

I would have had more respect for you if you just apologised without the sob story. This is the same old crap everyone else uses when they get banned. You're literally trying to say that you only copy and pasted because your mother was ill. I'm not sure why copy and pasting would take your mind off things as opposed to actually using your mind to come up with a post yourself. You got caught cheating on a signature campaign and likely only did this to hit your quote, and if it was any other shitposter trying these excuses they would be laughed off the forum.

To err is human....to forgive divine.

Please give him another chance.

I think that everyone, regardless of their stance on this particular issue, can agree with the above.

It seems they can when their "friend" gets caught doing something but they've never made these arguments before for the hundreds of other posters who get caught doing the same. This is a bigger issue than just ChiBitCTy. Do we forgive the thousands of others who have been caught doing the same? Or maybe only when they have a few friends here, haven't read the rules or have an unbelievably pitiful sob story? If we're going to unban people under certain circumstances we may as well stop banning people for copy and pastes and just let the community leave them appropriate feedback instead.
3389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: April 30, 2018, 11:19:46 AM
I got 110 points too. Stephen Curry is wrecking the competition at the top haha. I reckon the top 5 contestants cemented their places already with 3 more rounds left to go.

There are only 2 more rounds to go and a postponed game which plays tonight. In theory there are 840 points in play so nothing is cemented yet in my opinion although the top five have higher chances ending the competition in the places they already are.

There's essentially 2 and a half rounds left as there's 6 rescheduled games that need to be played midweek. I think any of the top five could win it now. It could come down to the last round which always makes things more exciting. It's always boring to me when someone has won the Premier League with x amount of games to go.

Does anyone see different scores than this:

I swear this morning I was 20 points behind Steph now I'm only ten, but the table says it hasn't been updated yet.
3390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: April 29, 2018, 11:05:51 AM
Well at least I got ten points on the Chelsea game.

Anyone get an error on their scores? Says at the top "Due to a technical fault, some players might notice errors in their scores when viewed in Predictor league tables. We are unable to correct these errors before the end of the season. We apologise for any inconvenience caused":

Says Steph got 110 points but only added 70 I believe (I think he was 20 points behind me last round).
3391  Other / Meta / Re: Banned Account Question on: April 29, 2018, 10:57:46 AM
You copy/pasted from an article without quoting it or posting the source. The penalty for this action is a direct account ban.

You can read the full list of forum rules here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.msg7955645#msg7955645

This is the rule you broke:
33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed.[e]

That was a while ago, why the ban now? It isn't as if he is some Pajeet poster only here for the sig moniez..

So we should unfairly punish users from certain countries and give older users a free pass to copy and paste? And he also only copied and pasted for the sig money. Why else would he have done it.

I think Chi might be worth making an exception for? He seems to actually contribute, more than Loan Shark (imo) did anyway, and Lone Shark was unbanned from his copy/pasting ban. While I don't trust him too much due to his actions, he does seem like a genuinely good person.

Lone Shark shouldn't have been unbanned. This is the issue with unbanning one user makes. Everyone else then wants the exception so that's why the rules should be clear. Copy and paste = perma ban. Not copy and paste = perma ban, unless you're a Senior user and run charity auctions. More veteran users should be more aware of the rules and punishments.
3392  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: April 28, 2018, 04:22:55 PM
Worst week of premiership for me with only 10 points, Liverpool equalising, Burnley not winning yet and I doubt it will win, Newcastle losing, are just a few of the games gone wrong. This is a great opportunity for the ones behind me to overtake me in the standings as I see no chance of recovering for this week. Only two weeks to go after this.

Well you did better than me. I got zero. Closest I came was my 1-0 prediction to Burnley but they failed to score. I wonder how well the rest did? I could easily fall down to fourth place now  Angry. I doubt there was many correct scores though this round but those correct outcomes all add up and steph only needs twenty points to level me.
3393  Other / Meta / Re: Remove Merit.. Its beyond the control? on: April 27, 2018, 08:53:13 AM
What is the purpose of this thread? Do you think yet another one complaining about merit is going to change theymos' mind and he'll revert back to the old system? All these threads do time after time is expose the poor posters that the system was put in to reduce.

Here is the actual truth of Merit System (What you think?):

The title of the article below is :

Merit - A definition of, Rich people become Richer, POOR people maintain POOR.  Grin Grin

https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinTalk/comments/7t5aoc/bitcointalk_dev_trolling_with_merit_system/
(Read article and comments as well)

No. That's just another lazy shitposter complaining that his easy cash cow has been culled and you are another one. What we actually had before the merit system was poor people earning from poor posts over as many accounts as they wanted and now they're annoyed they simply cannot make 480 crappy one-liners over time and magically become a Hero Member. Pure greed and pure laziness because all you're annoyed at is you can't maximise your money as quickly as you would have liked and now to get anywhere actual effort is required. Just look at your posts history. All crappy one liners right up until merit is introduced. I mean, why bother writing anything more than a line when you don't need to? God knows how many accounts you signed up here with and were doing this on. I imagine it's not just this one hence why you and others are so annoyed.

I am looking for blog bounty...  if any?

Hi would like to join blog bounty

Wgich is tge better option, Cloud mining or self?

If the merit system hadn't of been introduced you would of happily continued making these sorts of posts continually and that's why the system is there and is working. The only people who are complaining about this are those lazy posters who thought they had an easy ride to earning money for doing relatively nothing. Now that has changed. Those who are able to contribute something constructive here are not complaining about this. It's just those who are purely here to earn in the laziest way possible and I don't see anything bad about that.

But the amount of merit it takes to rank up is laughably ridiculous.

The amount of people that sign up to this forum just to earn by posting utter nonsense on their two hundred alt accounts is laughably ridiculous. Things had to change. Would you prefer signatures are disabled completely? Because that's the next step.

There are a lot of people who believe it was created to keep those at lower rank without the possibility of ranking up.

There's a lot of idiots here. That's just a moronic conspiracy theory dreamed up by butthurt kids. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Why would theymos care about this or create a system where it is exactly possible for people to achieve higher ranks? Only the catch is you have to contribute something valid now. OMG CONSPIRICI FERY. If people write excellent posts then they will very likely achieve the merit in the time it would have taken them to naturally achieve the rank.

3395  Other / Meta / Re: More than 1000 merit abusers found here (clearly motivated) - red trust time on: April 26, 2018, 03:28:03 PM
How have you worked that out? I've given out hundreds of merits, and I've received hundreds. I'm sure that I have given merits to members who have also given merits to me. I haven't checked, and don't remember as the awards ween't linked.

But what are the chances that those users have given you merit back within one hour? The chances of two random users giving each other merit is already a big coincidence, but then doing it within the hour is very unlikely and very suspicious. I haven't looked through the results in the OP but if it works as stated it would be helpful to go through and manfully look for potential abuses for those that can be bothered or have the time. People will get wise to this though and just wait a day or two to return merit.
3396  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system should be removed ! on: April 26, 2018, 03:22:22 PM
personally me think merit system should not be there and ranks should be done via there post counts and quality of its posts

As vod already said, ranks are already based on activity and quality of posts.

as of its too hard for new comers too to gather merits from old members who always do trades and exchange merit only for them but the person who is new and if he dont has btc to exchange then its less chance for him even after posting quality post on bitcointalk forum

It shouldn't be terribly easy for people to get merits, but it doesn't seem that difficult for people who actually bother to write helpful and informative posts. I've had a quick scan of yours and there's nothing exceptional about them. The only ones you've seemingly put a bit of effort into are a couple of ones recently but I suspect you only created them to try get some merit.

proof of merit abuse done on this forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3402060.0

People farmed accounts before this system just by logging on once a fortnight to make a few spam posts. Would you call for the removal of the ranking system then because it is being abused? I doubt it. The fact that it is now impossible for people to rank up just by spamming without contributing something worthwhile is as good thing.
3397  Other / Meta / Re: Merit became a business. What to do? on: April 26, 2018, 03:11:45 PM
Its all about you, come to think twice, if there will be no signatures there will be no spams, its purely discussions.

It's all about you more like. Why do you care about merit and ranks unless you're only here to earn as much as possible from signature campaigns? People can post here freely regardless of their rank and merit but those who actually want to contribute something worthwhile will get the merit pretty quickly. Most people just don't seem willing to contribute anything of value other than the standard generic one liners they can churn out as fast as possible in spam megathreads and those are exactly the sort of people the merit system is meant to restrict.
3398  Other / Meta / Re: Banned for what? User: Sellingaccs on: April 26, 2018, 11:15:46 AM
If my ban gets revoked, i assume that i will get a refund of the 0.12mBTC which i paid to post this appeal Roll Eyes

Now I think you are being a bit of a cunt Cheesy. I can't speak on theymos' behalf on whether he will give you a refund or not, but if you hadn't of broken the rules in the first place by posting a ref link this wouldn't have happened. You could have just used a proxy or different connection to sign up to avoid paying the fee.
3399  Other / Meta / Re: Banned for what? User: Sellingaccs on: April 26, 2018, 10:33:13 AM
People don't normally get permabanned for one instance of ref spam - usually it's just deleted or you'll get a short temp ban if you keep doing it but perma bans are usually issued for people spreading malicious links which is obviously what they thought this one is and I can see why because it certainly does look fishy. I would say it's better to be safe than sorry in circumstances like this because any cases of mistaken bans can always be revoked which I'm sure this one will be if everything checks out.

It seems that you were banned due to this post, where the link is either a phishing link or was considered referral spam.

You sure its not because OP is a bit of a cunt?

lol.

no one gets banned for being a "cunt".

Depends how cunty they are or how you define cunt-like behaviour  Cheesy.
3400  Other / Meta / Re: Why are innocent people getting blocked and scammers tolerated? on: April 26, 2018, 10:29:09 AM
There are so many reports of people who get blocked by mods who have seemingly nothing done or harm anyone, on the other side there are so many who already scammed and betrayed dozens of members and received negative trust feedback reflecting that. Yet it seems very few of the later ever get removed from this forum!

Why is that?

Because it's forum policy not to get involved with scams and that's up to the community to police. You would complain if staff made a mistake and banned an innocent account for scamming, right? So that's why the community policies itself on these matters. If someone has negative feedback then you can make a decision not to trade with them (or you can trade with them if you think their feedback is unjust).

Nonsense. Moderators can make mistakes but what you call:

He's probably just on about people that have their accounts locked for security reasons... or those who claim they did nothing wrong but did in fact break the rules (whether they're aware of it or not).
