That would be Pacific time US  think about 1-2am GMT about 5 hours to go. give or take

bad coin to jump on with but it works out better in the end.

As for settings

ask this guy
122HABiUBoF5CxDSz1HLTDpeLRDTcWxFBH   2.8428   2.1065   0.07470183   0.03110264   0.02524176   1.39361678

NOT THOSE SETTINGS

tricky because I think good settings for a fast coin maybe not so good for a slower one, I'm still tinkering.
lowering -E may help

It looked like 10 second blocks a few mins ago as I walked past my miner screen. I have a 250ms ping today so yeah .. essch

mueslo
yes very guilty of oversimplification but the analogy is not so flawed as to miss the point for some of the misconceptions I am trying to clear up.
I hope my description simplifies the issues without preaching anything baseless. I'm not explaining how crypto mining works just the fairness aspect of pool difficulty.

I didn't think presenting the information in the form you have above was going to help the discussion at this point.

If you want to take the discussion further in to the a detailed description and minutia of mathematics please be my guest.
I was getting sick of the huge misunderstanding some people were labouring under.

your addy is showing and hash rate for last hour is on its way up so looks OK for starters.

love the way you point out the mouse first Smiley

neat and tidy, nice rig. I had to put the 1x120 rad on the outside rear of my Antec.

I hate to ask but did you get you BFL?

Quick crib from Wikipedia cos that's always right.

imagine that with the dominoes H2 of middlecoin fame decides he wants to minimise his incoming traffic to keep his pool slick and reactive
but he need to do this fairly.

He tells all miners that he is not interested in dominoes that add up to 7 (they are the most common to be found)

UNLESS A 7 HASH SOLVES THE BLOCK they wont get sent.

Everyone has to abide by the same rules and have exactly the same chance of finding the outlier dominoes and be paid for the proof they are doing work.
by removing the central column of probability there is less network traffic generated but the odds remain the same for all.

looks nice and neat.
But I'm not convinced I wouldn't want 2 sets of 2 cards on separate loops / rads.

I'm pretty sure the last three statement have nailed this discussion.
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does a high pool difficulty lower anyone's profits? on: August 22, 2013, 08:51:15 PM
I really don't want to get drawn into this argument because I understand the mechanics but realise I won't be able to explain it clearly enough.

From a confidence perspective it would be nice for smaller hashers to be able to prove work for every block (lower diff)
But
The ratio between the high and low rates of share submission will not change (ergo payouts) because the big hashers will just inundate the pool with PoW shares.
There is one provision with that statement, it takes a relatively long time to average out the larger variance the small miners suffer.

So anyway .. I got one of my cards back from RMA replacement today and middlecoin seems to be going pretty well Cheesy

353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does a high pool difficulty lower anyone's profits? on: August 22, 2013, 08:33:47 PM
it creates very low profits for low hashers who cant submit a share before the round ends on fast coins

A - Low hashers cannot expect to submit a share for every block on a fast coin, what makes anyone think that they should be submitting for every block?

B It makes no difference because they will still submit on blocks in relation to their hashrate and earn accordingly.

and what happens when a block is solved in 1 share and it happens to come from a low hasher?
should all the big hasher cry foul ?

Probably a happy medium in there somewhere.

Fees on all transactions prevent spam, % is fairest method, a fee cap for sizeable transactions ?
355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: August 18, 2013, 02:04:45 PM
Thinking off the top of my head, there is an opportunity here to experiment a little

Coins seem to get ravaged when they hit an exchange only to end up in obscurity and often never gather any real interest beyond the PumpnDump.

The mining cycle of this coin is short to say the least and EXC will have to overcome the challenge of faltering miner interest sooner than most.

So

How will it pan out if it's kept off any major exchange until the mining phase is over?
When PoS work, assuming that's the direction you go in, is the sole generator of new coin?

This will allow supporting miners to claim their stakes now and be assured of a continuous income come exchange time.

The couple of months in hand can then be used to get this coin useful.

Is the 4mill a hard cap?
transaction fees high enough to keep this coin safe and stable are going to kill it as far as I can see.

WTB 500,000 EXC for 1 BTC.
lol .. nice try

in the pool
anonymous   39,748Kh     makes   15,704.979EXC /day (likely less as the  predictions are always high)

noone is going to mine 40 mh for
0.032Btc a day
0.00082btc/mh/day

4mil coins ever? you have valued the total coin count at 8 BTC

Won't be too long before the poll question IS the first page here.

extreme coin came out today along with a few others I'm sure.

I don't seem to be losing out too much from UK ping of 175 though.

always room for improvement but still winning overall

I take it back .. this coin is killing all of us

ouch

must have been a bad moment to refesh .. 3% again

Later on as we get closer to the 2 month zero block reward, I may do a client update to include a fixed transaction fee, to give miners at least some incentive to mine EXC, that could be an option.

I will sort out the bounties that are due tomorrow, have some mates over now, few beers, maybe some FiFA 13, if the other halves don't get too bored. Xbox Gamertag captchadd if you fancy adding and a game?

Then I will look how things are going with the network and start planning Extremecoin Client V1.1, there is always something that can be improved and I always value the communities input.

And in response to a few other posts, from my Crimecoin "test" release, it is known that I hate Pre-Mining just for the sake of it, that is just greed.

That is why you will see me mining on the EXC pool, just like everyone else, as once the bounties have been paid, I will be no better off than anyone else.

I do this as a hobby as I enjoy it. I make my money doing BTC to USD trades and dabble with a few other Crypto-coins. I don't seek to profit from coin releases.

Thanks for the advice and support so far everyone, it means a lot and strives me back to the drawing board of inspirational out of the box thinking, with Crypto's.

I am going to add a thank you section I think to the Extremecoin website, as there are a few people that have really helped me the last 6 months and I have learnt more in that time than the whole 3 years I have been involved in the Crypto world.

Cheers.
Community .. more of this ^

my cynical side just got friendly
