Ok I think it is time to congratulate vd309 for this solid win this round. We have Tuesday just a couple of hours after the submission deadline and the BSFL week is over for us! Cheesy

I have no idea what is going on, but knowing that Luton is beating Brighton 4-0 let's me sleep better because there is no point in complaining and asking myself how Newcastle can lead 3-0 in this game against one of the strongest home teams in the Premier League and after Newcastle had lost four subsequent games. Brutal!

It is no surprise that the 2. Bundesliga table is so compressed in the promotion zone as well as in the relegation zone, but this time the relegation zone is worth looking at. As I said before, I think Schalke is on the fence of getting relegated this season. This game against Kaiserslautern speaks volumes and while Schalke lost, Braunschweig and Rostock won their games. The funny thing is that Schalke will be playing against Braunschweig on the next matchday. That's going to be a thriller.

Hamburg is doing business as usual! Cheesy Giving the impression that they are very serious about their ambitions for a few months and then mess it all up within a few weeks. Fürth and Pauli both didn't lose a game for quite a long time and my guess is that Hamburg, in a best case scenario, will play for 3rd position.

Nobody really can not understand Hamburg any more. They played confidently and calmly against Schalke. And in their first home game they play desolately. Seems to be going in the same direction as the last few years.

And it will also be exciting in the danger zone. Braunschweig have now won their fourth game in a row. The change of the coach was a good decision and his philosophy was implemented quickly  from the team.
For Osnabrück, on the other hand, the situation is getting worse and worse.

The worst thing is that everybody gets used to Hamburg being a 2. Bundesliga club, but they should definitely be in the 1. Bundesliga with all the infrastructure and resources they have. Hamburg games have well been worth a visit in the past when they were still a relevant team in the 1. Bundesliga, but this idea of Hamburg being one of the nicest addresses in Europe has by now been fallen apart. You are either a big Hamburg fan and go anyway, or you would probably not buy a ticket to ever watch a Hamburg game because it is sooo interesting.

@vd309 this will be a very short round for us! Cheesy First time ever for me in BSFL that I had only one response being different and the game for that response is being played on the first day of the BSFL week.

We can either tie this round or find a winner. But after the Aston Villa - Newcastle game, the round is over for us Cheesy

Good luck man!

A great tie, great rivalry but Chelsea are very far off it so there isn’t much rivalry any longer. I think Jürgen clopp boys will get the win in this tie over Chelsea

A cruicial 3 points in their title charge; I do not think Chelsea stands a chance
3 points is necessary for big clubs. Mauricio Pochettino have another test to clear the doubt of his supporters, he won't relent but focused on winning the top games at hand. On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp is in his last season for the club, he won't stay back and watch his team lose to Chelsea, not when he got eyes on the EPL title. Liverpool vs Chelsea at Anfield this weekend. This is an important game, I'll not forgive myself if I missed out on this game because my favorite team is playing against their rival who's topping the English Premier League table.
Comparing the performance and determination of Liverpool and Chelsea this season, I can confidently say that Liverpool will win Chelsea at any time and the best results Chelsea can get out of the match is draw. But most times football is not just read literally, there are some spices of wonders and unexpectations that makes football to be the most exciting sports.

When you sincerely look at Chelsea performance in the last five matches you would see that that woefully performance that they started with has been eradicated. Chelsea is currently on the length of success and the team is improving speedily. This should be a very strong warning to a devastated Liverpool side who has not resurrected from the news of possible Klopp exit at the end of the season. The match will be exciting to watch.

I have just submitted a post in the Europa League thread and I recommend you have a look at it to see how all the games in the last few years when Chelsea was already weak then ended.

To my surprise, the last seven games Liverpool - Chelsea ended in a draw. No club in the Premier League has reserved the guarantee to win any of their games and we have seen it multiple times this season that the top teams in the EPL had big issues winning against the underdog teams. For me personally that is what makes the league so attractive and superior to other leagues. But let me say that a fact check helped me out to understand that it seems to be harder than I thought that Liverpool should be able to beat Chelsea at home. They were not able to do it in quite a long time now.

Indeed Liverpool have quite many opportunities in hand to have good achievements this season.  Smiley  About the EFL Cup finale against Chelsea I would favour Liverpool to become the champions. But Pochettino would really make use of a title out of nowhere while having a problematic season at Chelsea. But I can't say they are good enough against Liverpool in finales.  Sad

While Manchester City are still a huge threat it is really difficult to be confident about Liverpool to win the Premier League title. I will give you that. But hopefully Liverpool don't finish the season without a single title.
It's understandable to favor Liverpool to win the EFL Cup final against Chelsea, considering the team's capabilities and the desire for silverware. But I think it won't be easy, because Liverpool have never beat Chelsea for years, even in chelsea's bad phase. The threat posed by Manchester City in the Premier League title race shows a realistic understanding of the competition. The Premier League is notoriously competitive, and they has consistently been a formidable opponent.

Football is often unpredictable, and with Liverpool's strong squad and track record, there's always a chance for success. The spirit to give memorable moments for Klopp could become an extra energy to fight for the available trophies. The league cup final against Chelsea and the ongoing Premier League campaign will undoubtedly brings keep fans the extra excitement, and the outcome remains to be seen. I hope Klopp win something in final season in Liverpool.

I don't fully understand why you are bringing up the League Cup final in this Europa League thread, but ok. I did a quick search and despite being off-topic, it is interesting what you just brought up as I didn't suspect this to be true, but you were right:

That caught me by surprise. This is eight games without a win for Liverpool, but what's more crazy about this is that the last seven games ended in a draw! Cheesy

As for the Europa League, I am totally convinced that Liverpool will be on fire and that every game at Anfield Road will be a horror for their opponents in the knockout rounds of the Europa League. No team will be happy to go there in regards to playing against the 12th man, the fans. However, this must be an exciting adventure to play in front of that audience knowing that they give their everything in these last few months of Klopp being the Liverpool coach.

Draw against a team like Monchengladbach was an unlucky incident for the team. Leverkusen were dominant in every expects and created multiple attempts to the post but missed the by a little margin or prevented by the keeper or the defender. Still Leverkusen is the only team undefeated in this league.
The deteriorated form of Bayren Munich is an advantage for Leverkusen. With 15 more games left for both of the team, it's still early to call out a winner and the ultimate decision could be met when these team meet again, It was a draw the last time they met at Allianz Arena and now they are meeting again on February 10, this time at BayArena.
Bayern with its star players and Leverkusen with their great coach. btw, there is still more than a week left for the match between Leverkusen vs Bayern to take place and we will see how Bayern will try hard to stop Leverkusen's journey which is currently still unbeaten in all competitions.

The game between Bayern Leverkusen, the league leaders and FC Bayern Munich, a major league contender, will be a tough match to watch, This is a game that I wouldn't want to miss watching, and it will be a decisive game in that side of league, that is between who will likely lift the trophy at the end of the season because whoever that wins in that game will actually top the league, I don't think if Bayern find it easy in that despite being the superior team here.

This is certainly not going to be the end of the season no matter who wins the game. As you can see Bayer Leverkusen can tie a game 0-0 despite being the overwhelming force for the whole game. Yet it ended with only one point for them and although I understand that it looks as if Bayer Leverkusen would be able to win all of their remaining games afterwards, it's 90% certain that it is not going to happen. They are still facing several top teams and mental pressure would go up significantly once they understand that it is all up to them.

Same thing for Bayern as their last three games were 0-1 against Bremen, 1-0 against Union Berlin and 2-3 against Augsburg. It could have ended even worse than that for them. In other leagues games like these could be the decision. In the Eredivisie for example. But not in the Bundesliga.

I was not surprised to see the game end in a draw, because I know what B. Monchengladbach is capable of doing, especially when they play against a strong team. So I knew it was not going to be an easy match for Leverkusen to win the game against Monchengladbach, but many people were saying that Bayer Leverkusen would find the game so easy to win because of their current form. In many past seasons, Bayern Munich has always found it hard to defeat B. Monchengladbach anyhow. Now that Bayern Munich has won today and Bayer Leverkusen has drawn today, the points gap between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen is getting closer. Bayern Munich is now catching up, as they won the game today and Leverkusen drew. Let's see what happens in their next games, but any of them will draw or lose.

Did you watch the game or did you have a look at how both teams played?

Because now that it didn't surprise you that the game ended in a draw because you know how strong Gladbach is, what statistic did impress you the most here concerning Gladbach? The game was indeed easy and one-sided, but Leverkusen could not score this time. But saying that Gladbach is especially strong against strong teams and away from home is nonsense if you look at these statistics. 99% of the time this game ends with a win for Leverkusen.

I wonder how many here agree with you that they were not surprised to see the game end in a draw. I can tell you from the German Bundesliga pool I play, 100% of the people picked Leverkusen as the winner. Maybe I should reach out to you next time and ask for advice lol...

cryptofrka you lucky prick! De Bruyne missing a sitter in 82nd minute, and had his potential assist ruined by Dias and Vicario only to have Nathan Ake pounce on it  Sad, I really did miss this question as I could have sworn that I didn't read it while answering the question. But then, it's not over just yet  Roll Eyes

Oh man... I was really struggling on how to answer the De Bruyne question. I'm not sure why, but I had a feeling it might go without his contribution but eventually I decided to go with "yes". I even checked City to score without his contribution but changed it before submission when I re-checked all the answers.

Frankly, this ball from De Bruyne could have easily been an assist. I get that it wasn't an assist in this situation because there were other players touching it before Ake scored the goal. But the whole situation was so close and confusing that in the end this was close to a coin flip whether De Bruyne would have gotten his assist or not. If the ball moved slightly differently and turned into an assist, everyone deciding against going with an assist would have been mad, too.

Xavi is gone, I saw some of that Barcelona game. Or to be more exact, I saw like the last 25 minutes or so. That was wild and Barcelona had the chance to increase their lead before they conceded three more goals then.
352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 27, 2024, 10:53:57 PM
Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool at a time when Liverpool was at the top of the standings and I saw that it was a very unexpected decision, I didn't expect him not to wait until this season was over, reportedly Moh Salah will follow in his footsteps leaving Liverpool, this is really a hard blow for Liverpool.
I think you misread the news because Jurgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool at the end of this season and not right now he will leave Liverpool. So Jurgen Klopp still has full responsibility for Liverpool at the top of the standings and at the same time bringing Liverpool to win the EPL. It won't be easy but Jurgen Klopp will try well considering he doesn't have much time left at Liverpool. Maybe Salah has the possibility of leaving and looking at the rumours he is a strong candidate for the first player to leave after Jurgen Klopp left.
The coach is very much available and responsible for Liverpool's current performance which has been positive enough to for this season and going forward alot is still expected to happen with the club and its performance,  this shows how positive and active Klopp is for the club up till this moment,  but whether or not there a possibility for him coach the club beyond this season that is what we can't ascertain at this moment since the coach already hinted his intention to leave the club after this season.
So if Liverpool does well this season, it can become a departure gift for the coach at the end of it all so let's see how things go.

Whether there is a possibility for him to coach the club beyond this season is the only thing we can tell at this point as he gave the answer already. I don't know what interview you listened to or whether you read what he said at all, but if you did and you paid the tiniest bit of attention what's going on, then you would know that he will not coach Liverpool beyond this season. His contract will be terminated in the upcoming summer after the last game has been played. This is one of the few facts that is provenly true and you get it wrong.
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 27, 2024, 09:38:53 PM
I have a fundamentally different opinion on that. It is actually quite the opposite. Liverpool can win several titles this season, yes. But they will for sure play in the Champions League next season. They can get a lot of money for Salah and I thought that there is still a slight possibility that they can sign a top striker and there was a rumor about some talks between Liverpool and Mbappe, which I think is not impossible and Liverpool would perhaps enough money if they sell Salah.

I think there must be some deeper reason behind this that so far nobody knows except for the people who are closest to all of this.
I have to be agreed about this all even all are going with their opinion, but things are surely going to be ideal for the big change as well because now they are having good chance of winning few titles and then next year surely they are going to play Champions League and exit of Mohammad Salah is also already settled mean they will have huge funds and few other deals are also coming so we can expect Mbappé will be here, and we will have one of the best coach as well which will keep this momentum and Liverpool will be stayed at this level, or they could be better from this level as well.

Currently, any prediction is not possible with how things will be at the end of this season it's also not sure but as we are having things right now most chances we will have better future of this club is surely having, and they can go much stronger and financially strong in coming days as well.

This is why Klopp said that his most important goal was to bring Liverpool back on track before he leaves the club and before he makes the decision to announce that he will leave Liverpool by the end of the season.

But he also added that he wanted to be the person to speak to the fans and let them know his decision and the reasons for it. I think he was implying that it would have been leaked anytime soon now by someone else as there are too many people involved in these processes. The whole planning for next season was already going on and then he had to let the bosses know about his plans. That's when too many people become aware of it and then they can easily leak it to a newspaper or through social media. There were several good reasons why he made the right choice to make it public now and not wait until someone else drops the bomb. That would have left the club in chaos for a while.

✂️

Cheesy

This game will end in a draw, and I'm not surprised that almost all the matches in the FA cup are ending in a draw.I really missed my chances of winning today, because it was in my mind to give all the teams playing today a draw because almost all of the teams are strong teams.
No buddy, Manchester proved us wrong. Actually the truth is most of us had the same opinion that ended up this match gonna be draw. Anyway N. Ake make the chances and able to score first goal from Manchester City. Any it was a crazy match the competition between the two teams has been great. Although Manchester City was likely to have a few more goals, but but the Tottenham Hotspur's goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario's great saving save that four shots.
It is simply difficult to see that coming, of all the four games played today, only one resulted in a victory (Manchester City over Tottenham).
Before the game even started, I had already predicted that Chelsea and Manchester City would defeat their opponents; the other two matches would either end in a draw or something else entirely since I am less interested in those matches

Tottenham should now focus on the Premier League in order to ensure that, at the very least, they fight their way back to the top spot and stay there until the end of the season, after being eliminated from the FA Cup today. Being unable to hold the top spot is not a good idea because they started well at the start of the season.

But what were the odds that both teams Chelsea and Manchester City will beat their opponents? Both opponents aren't some inferior teams from the Championship. Aston Villa and Tottenham are tough opponents and Tottenham was even playing at home when Manchester City knew that they probably couldn't start the game with De Bruyne and Haaland wasn't on board either. I think it wasn't that likely for both teams to win their game and if Manchester City didn't score shortly before the game ended, it would have been the second draw in the second top game.
356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: January 26, 2024, 11:17:30 PM
I don't know why Klopp announces it now. I mean they are still in the competition, he should focus on the team now. Announcing his departure may influence the mentality of the players, it may bring bad impact the performance of Liverpool players. If Klopp wants to win trophies for his farewell, he must focus on the competition.

I think this was the smartest move he could have made. He was in talks with the club and I think announcing the final phase of his liaison with Liverpool, which he really turned into a big success story, it can set free a lot of extra power and positive mood and momentum for them. A departure doesn't always have to be depressing only. It could initiate quite the opposite and the fans will celebrate him and the team like never before in every game they will play. In my opinion this move was smart and it kills all the speculation about him leaving the sinking ship in case Liverpool doesn't do that well for the rest of the season. Now the news is out and it is all up to him and the team. They can win all competitions.

Kaiserslautern : Schalke 04  4:1

what is going on with schalke 04 ? schalke lost again with 1:4 in kaiserslautern. 0 points this year. even the new coach does not bring any points .
it is really a catastrophic season for schalke 04 . 15th place and 20 points. so it will be nothing more with a relegation place .
in today's other match hannover 96 won 3:0 against nürnberg. hannover is now in sixth place with 28 points

They had a phase when they played acceptable football, but now they are going back to old but gold in a negative sense. It's how they started this season into the 2. Bundesliga and even though still 99% of the people would bet against Schalke being relegated eventually, I think this is more serious now than ever. It mostly doesn't really matter whether you lose 1-0 or 4-1, but in this case it was against one of their contenders in the fight against the relegation zone. Big win for Kaiserslautern and an even bigger loss for Schalke. But I like the trouble, it's sometimes fun to see clubs with so much potential being on the brink of getting punished for doing so many things wrong for so long.

-snip

It would be undermining his credibility if he uses these words for an emotional valediction and then sits on the Bayern bench a few months later. I don't think he would do that as he values his own reputation.

If I were to break down on reasons that he leave, could be because this season could be the last season for Liverpool to achieve a good chance to win the league. Pretty darn sure Salah and Van Djik could be leaving next season due to their age so obviously Saudi league could be offering them alot to move, not to mention some other players as well. So instead of wasting his time rebuilding the entire team again, this is a good season for him to step down from Liverpool

As for moving to another team, there is a slim chance he could do that if he got a great offer

I have a fundamentally different opinion on that. It is actually quite the opposite. Liverpool can win several titles this season, yes. But they will for sure play in the Champions League next season. Now that I'm thinking about it you may be right.

He will probably ends in Germany to Bayern Munchen

I don't think Klopp end up coaching Bayern anytime soon. The words he chose for his explanation lead me to think that he is really tired, there is more to this and he may have plans, but first of all those plans are to have a break of at least one year.

If I had speculate, I think there is still an open door at the German national team for the World Cup 2026 for him or even for the time after that. He now had a great time at Mainz, then at Dortmund and now he also checked the box for being an internationally recognized coach at a top team winning all titles possible.

It would be undermining his credibility if he uses these words for an emotional valediction and then sits on the Bayern bench a few months later. I don't think he would do that as he values his own reputation.
