I'm still lucky enough to get one block per 2-4 hours. Tongue

What are you using to mine?

Bought a new 6 core Phenom II today like that One ArtForz was using. Had to flash my bios and setup a nice big thermaltake frio cpu cooler. Haven't found a block on it yet though nor have I on my main machine with a 4 core athlon II since 14:56 this arvo.

346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FUN FACT] Geist Geld exchange coming on: September 28, 2011, 05:44:13 PM
I think the exchange is to trade new geists for older ones am I right?

I think you should try, it will be an interesting project irrespective of eventual performance outcome.

Well I don't own a PS3 but I think Art Fortz would have some ideas.

I found this thread as well by Hebination:

Would it be possible to get this running on the cell broadband engine?

Maybe we could start by modding:

Thanks lolcust. I will probably have some time to start on the website tonight at work as my job is a call center with quiet periods late at night.

Do you know the current Tenebrix difficulty?

350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: September 28, 2011, 04:50:42 AM
Don't fetuses get oxygen from the blood of their mother?

I think a little bit but the two times when anaerobic respiration occurs in humans is during high intensity heart pounding exercise and while in the womb. The high intensity exercise is shown to encourage the growth
and differentiation of brain cells as they feed on lactate rather than glucose. I think a similar thing could happen in this environment.

Probably better though if any more questions go on a new thread. That is I'm only just trying to get contributions towards bounties here. I apologise I had to post off-topic stuff to explain what I hope to award the bounties for.
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: September 28, 2011, 04:12:30 AM
I was going to PM lolcust about this but I might well ask publicly now that the issue of the pre-coins has come up.

I run a wiki about human rejuvenation at http://www.rejuvepedia.org and I am hoping to secure some donations.

One of the Rejuvepedia spin-off projects called "Project In-Utero" will soon have a website and forum (hosted at www.in-utero.org) that will hopefully sprawn a collaborative online community around
the idea that we can completely rejuvenate a human body over 9 months by using a tissue engineered and wetware controlled placenta and uterus. The person being rejuvenated will
effectively be spending 9 months back in the womb and when they come out will still be an adult but have younger looking skin than a teenager as their body will be completely rejuvenated.

The placenta will feed the person with stem cells and effectively the person will be in a state of anaerobic respiration. I have a theory that there is something very special about anaerobic respiration that makes cells
proliferate as they don't need to repair oxidative damage.

Of course this will be tested on mice (and other mammals) long before we start to proceed to work out how we could ethically proceed to do this with humans.

I want to put forward some bounties to develop the art-work or animations showing this happening to help inspire people and capture their imaginations. I am hoping to secure some coins towards these bounties but I will contribute to them myself as well.

Lolcust: could you possibly contribute some Tenebrix to this project?

I have to get ready for work now but my contract is ending in a few days time so I will have a lot more time to work on this then.

I'll be interested to see how many blocks my machine has done when I get home from work. My expectations though is that it probably lost the RPC connection as connections drop in and out.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [RECAP] Solidcoin's to-date History on: September 27, 2011, 01:55:54 PM
I think the solid coin story would make a good movie or at least it could bypass the cinema and dvd completely and go straight to bittorrent.
Would love to see Lorna start her acting career.

I've been trying to run it on EC2 with limited success. I am a EC2 newbie. I just used the Windows version (even though I am mining on Linux at home) as it would be easier to install the binaries and get up and running faster. It does mine but the hash rate is pretty slow and about half what I am getting at home. I picked a fairly low end configuration though and have only tried 2 threads so far.

The application does start and get connections and downloads blocks but the window seems to lock up and go all transparent.

If I actually knew what I was doing and my synapses made awesome connections much faster I may have tried to get this going last night (instead
of setting it up on my Linux box) and then used EC2 to cluster mine the crap out of this baby.

My assumption though is that if this works other people are already doing it and that may explain why my block rate decreased quite a lot since last night when I first started mining.

I have both running and it's working quite well. e.g. when minerd finds blocks I get a notification speech bubble from bitcoin-qt's system tray icon and if I go to all transactions it shows me how many blocks i've mined and when they will mature...it's pretty smooth.. and just as I write this I did two blocks in a row!
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: September 26, 2011, 03:21:03 PM

This is what I did but no difference.
If i start the ./bitcoin-qt at the same time, minerd will crash.
Running minerd alone, nothing happens

I think some people had luck with changing the port number.

I must be missing something here.
Is there a some type of help doc or what ever on how to run this miner in linux?

I managed to get it going but it must have been a flook. I'm running kubuntu.

Code:
$ ./minerd --debug --user 1 --pass 1

I wouldn't be worrying about GPU's or even FPGAs... the first person to get this running on Amazon EC2 will been a Tenebrix millionaire.

Yeah, after paying for EC2 expenses you will really be a millionaire, mining valueless cryptocurrency...

You better stop buying that acid at Silk Road, it's affecting your brain, dude. Wink

Well then isn't it better to explore all these possibilities before someone opens an exchange for tenebrix/BTC ?

Actually this makes me wonder if any bitcoin early adopters used Amazon EC2 prior to the release of GPU mining.
