3401  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Scammy crypto recovery service on: July 17, 2022, 07:18:27 AM
How is it even possible to recover lost Bitcoins from scammers when we all know that Bitcoin (and cryptocurrencies in general) transactions are irreversible
Their target audience are not those who know how bitcoin works. After all, its newbies who think if Bitcoin as some kind of magic money are exactly those who get scammed by ponzies, not an experienced users.

Those three people look like what far left-leaning Hollywood would cast in a movie that only had three actors.  Got a professorial-looking older white male, a black male who looks like he jumped out of an Abercromie & Fitch catalog, and a young white female who, quite frankly, looks horny.
Lol, nailed it!  Cheesy
3402  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Duelbits Casino does not want to confirm my KYC - withdrawal not paid on: July 17, 2022, 06:40:57 AM
I would like your help and advice, what to do in this case. Is there anyone here who can help me?
You should try asking about you case in their official thread ( Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | Earn up to 50% rakeback | VIP |)as it might bring some extra attention to your case. Their account hasn't been online for 2 weeks now so it might take some time to get any reaction from them.

By the way, there is another relatively similar case going on at the moment and it seems like their verification can last for quite some time https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5405780.0

3403  Economy / Reputation / Re: About Local Board Indonesia users on: July 16, 2022, 12:52:37 PM
@_BlackStar I am not sure what's the point of this topic. Is it to paint the whole Indonesian board as bunch of spammers and cheaters so we (or admins?) should do something about it? Fyi, Indonesian local board is one of the most active ones, so no surprise that they have a lot of account farmers and bounty abusers. And as @Jawhead999 pointed out, Indonesia is country with lower life standard meaning people will have more incentive to abuse rules and leech off the forum. It's not a valid excuse of course, but it is what it is. Still, ain't a reason to call out the whole board.

3404  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Rumor: Coinbase is ‘temporarily closing’ its US affiliat e-marketing program on: July 16, 2022, 07:22:51 AM
I don't see this as particularly bad news as many influencers won't have a reason to shill Coinbase to their followers anymore. And another good reason to remove your money from Coinbase as they might have liquidity issues.
3405  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Legal Tender in Central African Republic on: July 16, 2022, 06:54:35 AM
Regarding the idea of "pipe dream," I would not be so bold (or bitcoin naysaying) as to proclaim that the mere fact that a country is either poor or strife with civil conflict that it would not be able to work towards some kind of integrity-based adoption of bitcoin - even though it seems pretty damned clear that integrity-based would not be including shitcoins in the mix (at least not in the early stages)..
There are poor countries ( countries like El Salvador) and then there are countries like CAR which are several levels below that on absolutely every parameter. It's just that I don't see how country where only ~15% people have access to electricity can implement something as tehnically demanding, and bitcoin being legal tender definitely is. It's one thing to proclaim something and entirely different to actually implement it.

Beside them not having basic infrastructure, its also questionable how useful something as volatile as bitcoin would be in the country where people have issues buying food. Imagine being on such a tight budget that you can barely feed your family, and then bitcoin you got goes 10-20% down, meaning you won't be able to afford food.

CAR has much bigger issues to sort out before bitcoin can help them and that's why I think all this has been nothing but a stunt.

Mhh you are probably right.
If I Look at the GDP per person in CAR I get 511 USD.
Imagine the level of poverty there when El Salvador (which is seen as a 3rd world country) has GDP per capita 8x higher.
3406  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: July 15, 2022, 08:19:39 PM

U ostalim vijestima, Srednjoafricka Republika izdaje svoj coin. Total supply 21 milijarda, a sudeci po tokenomicsima planiraju raisati najmanje $400 milijuna. Toliko o njima i o uvodjenju bitcoina. Nadam se da ce se nakon ovakvih failova prestati gledati pozitivno kada slicne vukojebine uvode BTC kao platezno sredstvo jer ne rade nikakvu uslugu Bitcoinu nego upravo suprotno.

According to the recently published Sango Genesis white paper, Sango will function as a private bitcoin sidechain similar to that of Blockstream’s Liquid Network. Per the document, Sango will work best as a digital monetary system if it is deployed as a bitcoin sidechain rather than settling transactions directly on the bitcoin network.

The Sango Layer 2 will reportedly have a built-in bitcoin interoperability via a two-way peg mechanism. In this arrangement, a set of validators called the Institutional Quorum will have custody of CAR’s bitcoin treasury. Users who deposit BTC into the Sango sidechain will mint Sango bitcoin (s-BTC), a wrapped version of bitcoin. Users can trade s-BTC for SANGO, which is the currency used for transactions in the country’s crypto platform.

The Sango sidechain will have 21 node validators responsible for facilitating transactions on the network. These validators will be controlled by elected officials, including the presidency, federal ministers and members of the national assembly.

3407  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Legal Tender in Central African Republic on: July 15, 2022, 04:29:22 PM
And they plan to do all this with 21 billion tokens worth 10 cents each meaning 2 billion. Yeah right!
Nice, fully diluted mcap of 2 billion. I am just looking at their tokenomics and it seems like 20% of the total supply is up for public sale, meaning total raise is at least $400,000,000 and realistically much higher as price during public sale will go up to $0.45.  Ridiculous numbers, but then again what about Sango is not ridiculous? I already saw on that tweet someone complained that $500 minimum buy in is too high.

Just remember we are not talking about a developed county, but a third world country where the average income is 250 dollars.
Hm, CAR has $250 average salary? This somehow seems way too high for one of the poorest countries in the world as I thought their average must be under $100.
3408  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The google search results for "1XBit Review" are quite shocking... on: July 15, 2022, 02:59:06 PM
And Google should be careful about doing what they're doing not only with 1XBit but with other results as well - this could open the door to the fall of that giant company - you simply don't do such things as this will open the door for many lawsuits against Google for misleading information etc.
No worries about that, Google covered their ass in TOS so they are not responsible for any losses, either via Google ads or even fake apps on Google Play. After all, Google is just a search engine.

What I do when researching on a any project is to add ...scam at the end. So rather than searching for '1xbit review', I'll search for '1xbit scam'. I do this cause I'm specifically looking for scam accusations against them and study those, rather than positive reviews which could be motivated financially.
That's standard approach of anyone that is a little bit longer in crypto/generally using online services, but unfortunately that's not how majority of people operate. They tend to trust everyone and only after they get scammed by 1xbit they put into google "1xbit scam" which brings them here.

I wonder what they deem as a fake review. knowing 1xbit and their attempt here in the forum to get good reviews from members by paying them money by running a review campaign, I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same thing with trust pilot.
They are definitely paying majority of positive reviews, but some of them are legit as you simply can't scam your users 100% of the time and run for longer period. 1xbit is probably playing the long game and scamming selectively in order to keep getting constant influx of new people.

3409  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia's economy is 'imploding' on export decline, economists claim on: July 15, 2022, 02:45:25 PM
As for the sanctions themselves, Europe has already understood that if you make concessions to the aggressor, then after a certain time their countries will also be subjected to Russian military strikes. And therefore, it is better to go to temporary difficulties and destroy Russia economically than to constantly be blackmailed by her.
Its naive to think that these sanctions will work and that Russia will stop the invasion. You don't think that they didn't run this scenario and didn't think that this will happen if they attack Ukraine? Of course they knew and yet they just didn't care, knowing that they don't have to fear the people.

Keep in mind that they have dictator in charge who can't be removed via elections, so no matter how poor and unhappy Russians get, they won't be able to do much about it. On top of that, Russians (as eastern Europe people in general) are used to hardships and will endure this easier than EU citizens.
3410  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Legal Tender in Central African Republic on: July 15, 2022, 02:31:14 PM
I would like to know if really the adoption of Bitcoin is just a political prank or indeed for economic purposes.
When you take into consideration that CAR is one of the poorest countries in the world where majority of people don't even have electricity, its obvious what was behind this decision to make Bitcoin legal tender.

The website of the Sango platform has been launched, registration and KYC passage are also now available, but the purchase of Sango tokens is not yet available, they promise to inform you about the start of sales of Sango tokens soon. https://sango.org/
State sponsored ICO..what could go wrong.  Cheesy

I hope that now even most optimistic people will realize that Bitcoin adoption in countries like CAR is nothing but a pipe dream.
3411  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: July 15, 2022, 02:19:46 PM
This is really bad, really bad PR. Imagine bragging how crypto is better than gold, how you try to invest your crypto holding only to find out the company you blended money with was buying gold with it, this will definitely piss a lot of users, and I can understand why.
Judging by the people I know that have money in Celsius, I don't think that significant amount of users will be upset over that. People I know that have money there are only in crypto to make more fiat, they don't really care about anything else. They would gladly put their money into whatever they think will bring them more money at the end of the day, so who cares whether its gold, stocks or something else. Well, at least that's the profile of people I know that have money there.

They just need to stop increasing debt, that is, they should stop paying weekly dividends to investors.
Wait, they are still paying weekly dividends with the same rates? Crazy...
3412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto question! on: July 15, 2022, 06:42:30 AM
Buy Bitcoin and ignore everything else, as simple as that. And after you buy Bitcoin, don't keep it on Coinbase but instead send it to your own non-custodial wallet like Electrum or if you can afford it, get hardware wallet which is even safer way to store your crypto.
Regarding Discord and Telegram groups, be very careful when joining those as they are plagued with scammers and shillers.
3413  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Scammy crypto recovery service on: July 14, 2022, 05:33:56 PM
Claiming to have 23092 Happy Customers, with 6287378 recovered funds and 13432 coins, is just random number on screen and nothing else.
Yep, everywhere you look you stumble upon a red flag, I just mentioned few as it was enough to show what's really going on there.

For a while, those recovery scammers seemed to be going extinct but I guess the wave of bankruptcy has given them a new push to try it again.
I wouldn't be surprised if they start using Celsius angle, promising people that they can somehow get the money back.

Even though this scam attempt look pathetic, I am pretty sure that some will fall for this as people do stupid things when they are desperate, and that's exactly their target audience. After all, more often than not scammer than person he manages to scam, its just that they have will to do it.

3414  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: SCAM upozorenja Zbirni topic on: July 14, 2022, 05:03:35 PM

3415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa Launches An Exclusive “No Limit” Bitcoin Card on: July 14, 2022, 04:44:20 PM
Of course this card provides no technical benefits to other Visa-based cards, but to me that's never been the benefit of having these cards.
The main benefit is that you can spend your crypto in an easy way. Another big advantage is that majority of them have cashback program so if you use your card regularly, it adds up.

In many European countries BTC purchases via these cards leads to 0% tax (as it's for a purchase), as opposed to simply selling to fiat and buying what you want. So clearly there is an enormous tax-based benefit in being able to purchase something with 0% tax as opposed to up to 40%.
That is maybe for now, but all this will eventually change (my guess is very soon, within year or two) and Binance will start sending reports to tax offices across Europe countries and then we will have to pay the taxes. Theoretically, we should already report all our crypto debit card spending, but I don't know anyone that is doing that.

3416  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: July 14, 2022, 04:34:45 PM
As much as I want those CEX and those wannabes new bank order guys to be reached a reality lesson,  the pain inflicted on the users that trusted them with money is making me cheer for them not to crash, or if some do at least make it a crash every three months, not ten in one.
Same here. I do wish people stop using those platforms and that they somehow disappear, but I have couple of close friends that have (had?) serious amount of money in Celsius so I really hope that it survive in some shape or form.

Biggest issue is that people didn't see this as a high risk at all (big reason for that is that Celsius never disclosed what they are actually doing with people's money in order to get those percentages) and instead  they treated it like its the real bank (despite everything, immensely more secure than an average "DeFi" platform) and were putting their life savings into it.
3417  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: July 14, 2022, 11:02:07 AM
I would also watch out for any services that use shitcoin tokens like CEL for Celsius, CRO for Crypto.com, or any lending platforms and centralized exchanges.
Speaking of  crypto.com, this is the message I saw yesterday in one private Telegram group that is usually not bullshiting: "Fair warning rumors have it crypto.com is going bankrupt  do with this information what you will but if have funds on it I seriously consider moving them....". I have no idea whether its just some fud like with Kucoin recently, but one can't be too careful after everything that has happened in the last month or so.
3418  Economy / Economics / Re: The Growth of Bitcoin ATMs by Country on: July 14, 2022, 06:44:40 AM
They are really profitable. Once the initial investment has been made, they only need electricity to operate and a technician to check them from time to time, and if they are located in shopping malls or similar places, the owner doesn't even pay for the electricity.
What about monthly rent (better the location higher the rent) and all the taxes that they have to pay which are definitely not low for crypto businesses. I don't think that owners make crazy amount of money because if they did, we would see those things all over the place.

The varying fees is issue and some companies are changing high fees above 10% also and including extra charges for the transaction you are making so this is problem for small transactions as they could consume a major portion of it.And yes KYC is big issue for all who wants to remain anonymous and now they are enforcing you to go through it serving government policies so didn't find any fun in them now.
While high fees are certainly a problem (ATM I used had around 6.5% fee last time I used it 2 years ago), bitcoin transaction fee wasn't a problem as I used the simple trick in those rare occasions when network was congested: I usually used the smallest fee possible and simply come the next day to pick up the money. This of course changes if you need the money ASAP, but that rarely happened to me.

The fact that Portugal has only 6 such devices surprised me, considering that country is often mentioned as one of the most desirable when it comes to cryptocurrencies - but it seems that this is not a decisive factor affecting the interest in this type of service.

Maybe they have plenty of other (cheaper) ways to buy/sell crypto so BTC ATMs are not so popular anymore. I know quite a few of people in our country who in the past used BATM on the regular basis and now all of them found some other ways, either through physical bitcoin exchanges or meeting in RL and doing the transactions that way.
3419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa Launches An Exclusive “No Limit” Bitcoin Card on: July 14, 2022, 06:32:47 AM

And if this is invitation only, how can they know? I can understand if it's an application started from the person itself, but invitation? How can they know?
From what I can see on their website (https://www.bitcoinblackcreditcard.com/) people can request the access to bitcoinblack card so its not like they will randomly send invites around. The big difference compared to some other cards like Binance Visa is that not everyone will get accepted, meaning you will have to prove that you are wealthy enough + some other factors (they didn't disclose that).

3420  Economy / Scam Accusations / [Warning] Scammy crypto recovery service on: July 12, 2022, 03:32:08 PM
What happened; user @Hallantroe created the thread in which he gives advice how to avoid being scamemd, while the real purpose of that thread is to promote crypto recovery service. At first, nothing weird there (beside the fact that all those recover services are fake), but when you check their website you will see plenty of red flags; from claim of having 100% recovery rate, to fake team member photos and phonmy testimonials. Since this is obviously fake service, I am creating this thread in order to flag the before mentioned user.

Their whole team is fake, but as proof I am just going to share one of them, which should be enough to show that this is nothing but a scam, trying to profit from desperate people who already lost money.
