3401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why new projects/ coins do not have ANN on bitcointalk ? on: March 14, 2021, 08:31:06 PM
This is perhaps due to strict rules here and banning of accounts, even there are no quality bounty campaigns with good budget list here anymore, with wrong policies and censored and controlled environment the largest crypto forum is perhaps losing as its policies are at a 360 angle when it comes to decentralized and free concept of crypto, bitter truth.

Yes, bitcointalk has become a very toxic place for scammers and other rule-breakers.  Wink
Since you are making claims on here, maybe it would be a good idea to give some context on where this is coming from?

It's an open secret that the majority of people who support the decentralized internet will fall victim to phishing scams (except for those who are smart enough not to use that social networking crap). Bitter truth.
3402  Economy / Reputation / Re: Incorrect use of the Trust system - dkbit98 on: March 14, 2021, 06:41:29 PM
While I disagree with dkbit98's trust rating for the spammer, I gotta laugh at the OPs conversion from a trust abuser to a lecturer on the correct use of the trust system. It sounds fake and contrived, based entirely on their personal dislike of each other more than anything else.

Good catch! But he changed it to neutral and I don't think anyone would have problems if dkbit98 just changes it to neutral too. He just doesn't understand the point, does dkbit98.

As far as I can see, dkbit98 has already changed it to neutral. In addition, I inferred from his reference that the negative tag was more of a warning than a permanent trust rating.

...
And you are doing this all the time, so I am temp-tagging you as a spammer.

I can't say if this is the proper use of the trust system or not, but since we don't have a de-merit system available, we would certainly benefit from the new anti-spam methods on the forum.  Wink
3403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why new projects/ coins do not have ANN on bitcointalk ? on: March 14, 2021, 05:55:07 PM
This forum's glory days are done. Crypto was a small community which has it roots here and it has grown to world wide phonomen, they just dont see any reason to make an ANN here. They get the social communication part done with twitter and facebook . they dont need this site.

Ok, I don't think so. The glory days of this forum are not over. It is by far the largest crypto community in the world.
True, crypto was a small community initially, and it has grown into a world wide phenomenon, but bitcointalk is still a vital part of it.

The forum is a great place to learn about crypto, chat about new projects and discuss what we are learning from other projects. It isn't just for projects that are trying to get funded. Its focus is on learning about Bitcoin and other coins/protocols and how they can be used in daily life.

Will bitcointalk survive?
Maybe not in this form. But I believe we have a good chance if we switch to the new epochtalk platform in time, which opens up many new possibilities.
3404  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: March 14, 2021, 04:18:34 PM
It's possible that this user is bluffing and just trying to extort money from the gambling platform. It could also be an attempt to scam gullible and greedy players.

Most likely the latter. If they really found, as they claim, an exploit in Roobet's betting system, nothing would stop them from abusing that exploit for their own benefit. I see no reason why would they look for "people to try it for them".

I don't think there's anything more to it than another pointless scam attempt. But it's good that you pointed that out. Maybe Roobet can organize a covert action to reveal the real motives and maybe even the perpetrators.  Wink
3405  Economy / Speculation / Re: Want to understand..... on: March 14, 2021, 04:00:09 PM
Thanks for explaining. I do get the fact that the trading by the big players affects the price.  But still don't get how Govt actions unrelated to BTC affect it.  The comment that people suddenly have money etc........nobody has been given it yet, and the likes of us mortals won't be given enough to fritter it away!

Some institutional investors are probably speculating that because of this stimulus, the dollar value will fall on the global currency market. You understand that the value of the dollar is also determined by the law of supply and demand. So, if the supply increases significantly, the value must go down.
Right now, we're getting some evidence of this dollar selling.
3406  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: March 14, 2021, 03:01:30 PM
Could this be some new Trezor hardware wallet redesign or is it just a concept from Prototypum Czech designers?
I don't know, but this has a nice unibody design, they say case is made from aluminum alloy and it does have similar Trezor shape but it looks much better.
Same team made this silicone cover for Trezor Model T in 2017/2018 so maybe they are working with Trezor developers on something.

https://prototypum.com/work/crypto-wallet-design-study/

Oh, this looks so good. Also the fit and finish of this Trezor look to be way better than on the current version and I really like the touch pad they have on top.
I really hope this is the final design for the new Trezor wallet and not just a prototype.
3407  Economy / Reputation / Re: The shameful Romanian translation of Bitcoin white paper from Bitcoin.org on: March 14, 2021, 01:19:50 PM
I don't think bitcoin whitepaper is a bible

Actually, it is. And not just "a bible", but "The Bible". Bitcoin's Bible!

I think Bitcoin whitepaper is a bible for cryptocurrencies and is the most influential document about the blockchain technology ever written. It is the start of the Bitcoin community. Anyone who is seriously looking to understand Bitcoin history and how it is evolving should download and read it.
That is why I agree that it is extremely important that every translation is accurate, relevant and as faithful as possible to the original.
3408  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: March 14, 2021, 01:02:58 PM

Moguce LN placanje. Wink
3410  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: March 13, 2021, 10:39:02 PM

EDIT: Da se vratim on topic.

A pogledajte gde smo sada... Nemoguce je predvideti gde je vrh, a gde dno. Barem meni, jer sam u svemu tome jos uvek neiskusan.

Barem za sada, HODL je najbolja taktika.
3411  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: March 13, 2021, 10:31:00 PM
Uh, kineski wallet.

3412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why new projects/ coins do not have ANN on bitcointalk ? on: March 13, 2021, 08:54:52 PM
Bitcointalk is a great marketing tool but if the news is badly handled, it can impact the reputation of their project in the industry. All the projects which are listed on Bitcointalk should publish a solid core team and a plan for the future. Team members need to keep their channels open in order to respond to each comment or inquiry. One important thing which all the projects need to know is how to communicate with the community.
3413  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Anyone heard of Winxtrade.com? Is it a scam? on: March 12, 2021, 08:54:59 PM
It's a scam, of course. This is just another clone of some exchange created to steal your money. This isn't just one website, but as logfiles has already said, a lot of them have been circulating on Discord and Telegram groups and scammers are using them to deceive people.

So it's best to stay away from these too:

3414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Elon Musk Again & Again Tweet for Doge? on: March 12, 2021, 08:16:36 PM
It's probably all fun for him, because Elon is known to love memes and crypto. I seriously doubt that he has any interest in the Doge, since he is currently the richest man in the world, there is no point in making money by manipulating the Doge's market.
I don't think there's a risk to his reputation. Doge started as a joke coin, so it should be regarded as a joke.
3415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The World Without Bitcoin on: March 12, 2021, 07:10:03 PM
For the most part, people have taken it for granted that we are living in a digital currency environment, which is why I get so irritated with Bitcoin critics who mock it for what it is: a great conceptual and philosophical advancement that should be embraced for what it is rather than for what people imagine it to be.

That said, the demand for Blockchain is moving the idea forward, as evidenced by its recent price rise and proliferation of technology companies that are creating their own versions of this digital currency, with varying degrees of adoption. It is still in a very early stage, but as Bitcoin continues to evolve, we will witness more and more companies taking a closer look at the possibilities of Blockchain. The developing applications for this technology are both currently in the concept stage and likely to play a key role in industries around the globe in the near future.

And if Bitcoin ceases to exist in its present version in the future, it will likely create a lasting legacy. People have written entire books, novels, song lyrics, etc., on Blockchain and it seems all the buzz in tech circles these days is about building "blockchain versions".
3416  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] BtcCryptoLottery.com has fake winners on: March 12, 2021, 12:37:21 PM
What happened:
I was roaming around the "Beginners & Help" board until I stumbled upon the following "thread", so I decided to look a little bit deeper and by the look of things, they pretend to have a "quarterly lottery winner" even though their website age is for less than that amount [67 days to be exact].
<cut>

This has scam written all over it.

Maybe it's just me, but it looks like Talia H has somehow lost her looks in less than a month. We've all heard the expression that money spoils, but this is rather scary! Grin

3417  Other / Meta / Re: Your role in the industry - poll for BCT members on: March 12, 2021, 11:41:53 AM
You have a point but my view is more in line with Google's definition of Bitcoiners:

Quote
bit·coin·er
/ˈbitˌkoinər/
Learn to pronounce
noun
a person who uses or mines the cryptocurrency bitcoin.

Somewhere on twitter I recently read this definition: "They say bitcoiners live in their moms' basements... What they don't say is who bought her the house."

I kind of liked this version. Cheesy
3418  Other / Meta / Re: Your role in the industry - poll for BCT members on: March 11, 2021, 10:22:59 PM
I answered "Enthusiast" but I could go for "Regular" or "Bitcoiner" as well.

There are so many differences in opinion when it comes to what defines a Bitcoiner. And what about Bitcoin miners? Are they professionals?

3419  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: March 11, 2021, 07:01:47 PM

I also have a Blue Wallet. I have transferred some satoshies to it solely for the purposes of LN payment. I've been playing around with it for a while and I've done a few transactions. Everything went very smoothly, however, as Rikafip said, I can't say I have any particular needs for it.
Too bad the Lightning Network has not yet been widely adopted.
