3421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.4 Released MANDATORY UPDATE on: January 09, 2014, 10:27:34 PM
I'm not doing anything with my overclocked i5 at the moment, so I thought I'd see what hashrate I'd get from mining Dogecoin;

Probably more profitable right now than mining Particle, anyway..

You probably better of "mining" Ripple and do some good for the community by donating processing power for cancer research or other projects you can choose at the World Community Grid

I used to use Boinc and folding@home for spare processing power. I'd probably prefer something like that set up on my Rasberry Pi when I have it up and running, though. I have no idea how Ripple works. It sounds a bit shady.

Ripple I suppose you could debate all day long i would't go out and buy any, but i am getting them for free so to speak. I use a stock standard of the shelf computer running 24h and help the guys research cancer I get some ripples for it. The electric used helps with heating so its a win win win. Ripple seam to do alright they are right behind Bitcoin at marketcap and hopefully prices rice too, so my effort was not just for a good cause.

I'll have to look into it. If it's for a good cause too I suppose it's doubly valuable.

CPU. I'd mine this for the lol.

Just make the total number of coins a bit lower than a billion, hey?
3423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRT] Particle | CPU/GPU, Fast, Easy Mine, * NO PREMINE * | Official Thread on: January 09, 2014, 10:16:32 PM
This CoinedUp PRT donation:

PRT:

Pm1vge83oqd5ezbp9mT6vKPYibqwE2XFsa

So to say thank to them for nice add.

Do you know why they didnt add BTC/PRT? I guess only using LTC is taking the coin down in price alot.

+1 Lol damn straight Undecided

I think it's a little unfair, but I think they're expecting it to do poorly just because of the high coin volume, not really taking into account the difficulty of CPU coins.

3426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRA] Grain - New PoW/PoS coin | Fast, secure | Version 1.3 Released! on: January 09, 2014, 09:23:07 PM
Does your wallet have to be open the entire time, or just when the PoS block is generated?

The wallet should be running in order to generate PoS blocks.

Technically the PoS minting in a sense is not different form the PoW mining. Just the other, much less intensive algorithm but it also tries different nonces against the same set of data until that set of data is changed (block header and/or the set of eligible inputs)

The problem I have is that this computer isn't on 24/7. I do have a server machine that is, though. I guess I could just store all my coins there. I can't mine on it though. Guess I'll get that set up tomorrow.
3427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRA] Grain - New PoW/PoS coin | Fast, secure | Version 1.3 Released! on: January 09, 2014, 09:16:00 PM
Can someone explain to me exactly how PoS works. Thanks

Sure I can,

PoS - Proof of Stake, works based on the coinage of the coins in your wallet.
How to generate PoS blocks,
1. Leave your wallet open and unencrypted
2. don't spend your coins, keep them in your wallet.
3. when the coins are old enough (round 15days) they will go to the stake section of your wallet.
4. the coins from the stake section will be counted for PoS, blocks are generated
5. all coins go back to your balance, plus you get the interest on top.

thats it

more technical to be found here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proof-of-stake

Does your wallet have to be open the entire time, or just when the PoS block is generated?

do you need to do something special to start recieving PoS blocks?

Don't think so. Just have grain in your wallet.

How many reboots did this coin have? i started mining after reboot and got like 1.6m coins. Before reboot i got over 4m. Looks like it got another reset bcs now i have 0 coins? Oh well, wtf? Wasted hashpower on 2 resets? riiiight.....

enough is enough.

Maybe that's what it means by Anti Scarcity.  Grin
3431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 09, 2014, 08:07:25 PM
YOu must download the new version then install.

Unrelated:

The network hash prediction is quite big right now, for some reason, Coinium is finding blocks WAY quicker than they should. like every 2 minutes, so I believe that's artificially inflating the estimated hash rate, we can only hope that trend stops or the next diff is really going to suck......

What's with all those blocks found by anonymous?  Undecided
3432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Instead of releasing a new altcoin.. on: January 09, 2014, 08:02:46 PM
Why don't people actually just buy a large stake in a cheap altcoin and invest some time into promoting it and developing it? Only because a coin has been abandoned by its developer or isn't talked about anymore doesn't mean someone else can't just come along and take over, does it? I mean, a lot of coins are on github. Ripe for the developing.

Clearly the strategy of putting out crapcoins has had its day.

This is what I don't understand about Cryptocurrency. If people own a large enough stake in it, then why wouldn't they invest their time in trying to increase its market value? It's not the coins that are the problem, it's this attitude that you can somehow lay back, let everyone else do the work, and get rich.

Looks like those days have gone.
3433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 09, 2014, 07:44:27 PM
This coin baffles me. I can't tell whether it's going to crash or explode.  Cheesy

"difficulty" : 1441.51986322"

Says it all, really.
3435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Particle (PRT) Addeded to COINED UP.co on: January 09, 2014, 07:28:25 PM
Wow. Been up for a few hours and PRT is already utterly worthless.

Fantastic.
3436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SHS] Shares [Second Generation Crypto Currency] [Project Announcement] on: January 09, 2014, 03:03:59 PM
What the hell is this crap?

You've already come out and told everyone all their BTC has gotten stolen, and you're still advertising this scam?

How much more guilty can you look?
3437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRA] Grain - New PoW/PoS coin | Fast, secure | Version 1.3 Released! on: January 09, 2014, 03:02:10 PM
Of course as soon as I said that, I found a block Smiley

Lady luck is easy like that.  Wink
3438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 09, 2014, 03:00:59 PM
Oh god dammit, the price did end up dropping. I could have sold at a higher price but I didn't want to risk stuffing around with that 18k fake sell wall.

Argh.

Always the risk you take. I could have waited and bought in a lot cheaper as well. I've forced myself into a sell limit I may not even reach now.
3439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRA] Grain - New PoW/PoS coin | Fast, secure | Version 1.3 Released! on: January 09, 2014, 02:26:28 PM
Heck, with me hashing at 180k I'll never find a superblock, but that's cool. Free is free Smiley

Just believe:

Did I just hit a superblock?

If I did it was a small one, but still; sweet.  Grin

thats a 5%er nice going.

It's nice to know even with my modest 275khash/sec I can still get decent payouts from this coin.

Wink

I actually found it in less than an hour. I hadn't been mining all day because I wanted to give my PC a bit of a rest from CPU/GPU mining for several days straight. It's just a matter of luck.  Smiley
3440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Project - Coingen.io Clone bot - Let's stop the madness and unleash Armageddon on: January 09, 2014, 01:51:53 PM
Cīmon Luke. You can Smiley
I don't have time for what I'm already working on, let alone taking on something mostly pointless like this.

Right now the coins can only be produced by those who can afford the btc. By making it available to everyone, scrypt clones become worthless. Which is what we want. They'll get ignored and we can focus on genuinely innovative altcoins and end this attack on the altcoin community.
