Many of the thread starters log in just to start the next spam megathread to have something to gain the post count for the sig. campaigns. Those accounts are offline most of the time. Those will never lock their threads. I could see this being beneficial if it was a rank specific thing. Much like posting restrictions.
Brand new gets 1, newbie can have 3, and jr.member could have 5. After that you could lift the restrictions.
This can be really helpful for some sections like Bitcoin Discussions. Other like Marketplace can have different restrictions.

From my overview the main newbie problem is the language barrier. This is a bit of a bummer if you what to learn the crypo in details. Nowadays everything is in English, people have to accept it that if you don't learnt it, big part of the "world" will be hidden for you. This should be the step 1. Sure you can find a lot info translated in the local sections but still, the main info stream is in English.

This should be not so surprising as if you dug a bit more into Meta you will find that part of the merit sources cannot find posts to give their merit to. Which makes the whole situation even more complicated. Theymos wrote some time ago that it's better for the sources to unload all the source merit instead of let it "burn" with the time. It's not really burning but if you don't use it , it doesn't replenish. So instead of wasting the generated smerit just pass it so it generates more, but sure it's not easy to find someone new to give meirt to.

I will pay more attention to this, thanks.
Please do, this is your task as a bounty manager. All we are trying to do is reduce the unnecessary spam. Many of the participants in the signature campaigns have no interest nor intentions to learn. They are here only for the money and polluting the forum. You as a bounty manager have to discourage such attitude so everyone can benefit, you get better posters and be more respected project, we as a forum users have less spam to read, and the mods will have less work.

I like the theyoungmillionaire but you don't need to be like anyone, no need to follow someones' steps, just be yourself and post only when you have something to say.
Before nullius was given as example but almost no newbie can be like him, so much knowledge and humor, and of course high end English grammar.
Trying to be like someone else you loose your uniqueness.

I think the "airdrop" should be forbidden in the ANN threads/section. Those are just a clear case of legal multi-bumpings. Maybe a new airdrop section can reduce this shit that is going on.

~ And the idea that newbies or Jr members are solely responsible for spam on the forum is wrong. A walk through some spam mega threads would burst that myth.
There are different levels of spammers. Of course the big part were newbies and Jr. You can see the real impact of the new rule here : ~ - In the first week after the announcement, 286408 posts were made (-19.05%).
- In the second week after the announcement, 280503 posts were made (-20.72%).
- In the third week after the announcement, 259694 posts were made (-26.60%).
- In the fourth week after the announcement, 263685 posts were made (-25.47%).
- In the fifth week after the announcement, 240339 posts were made (-32.07%).
- In the sixth week after the announcement, 240045 posts were made (-32.15%).
- In the seventh week after the announcement, 219689 posts were made (-37.91%).
That was mostly the low quality of spam, now we have to focus on the higher levels.

Slowly going towards the 50% drop. Soon we have to celebrate. The homographs are gone (almost 100% based on the forum search engine). Some sections look way better than before, including the Off-topic.

And now that Jollygood using my personal photo for his scam posts. I think that is illegal. Admins, please do something.
This is not the place to make such request, go to the reputation board and open a new thread.

Christmas season is coming is there a chance of merit system deactivation? Is there a chance that theymos may give us Christmas bonus? Marry merit in Christmas or maybe in new years eve. I think merit is the best gift ever to crypto communities if possible. You may had a change to get 1 /or more/ merit but now after this post man...

Can you give examples of transactions in the block? one is for exchanges and the other is for peer to peer. Can you cite more? I am just interested to know.
Here is example of block with transactions: https://www.blockchain.com/en/btc/block/0000000000000000000397c08197ec14faf64be08714640fbedc83a7c697b78eNow the question is how to know which belong to exchanges and which not, just seems impossible to tell. So it seems that there is no way to get a reasonable numbers here. Anyway it was just interesting for me to see how many transactions are from exchanges in one block.
Do you mean individual outgoing and incoming transactions from exchanges? I believe there aren't any repositories for such, though from time to time some exchanges place some form of tags on some of their transactions just so people tracking the said transactions would know that it came from them. Though it's somewhat hard to compile these tx from scratch, it can be done by creating a tracker that monitors certain known tags from exchanges and recording how many of them are included in a block. Yeah, I've seen those tags you are talking about and I thought that the exchanges should use such tags but as I dug a little bit more seems like they are just a rare cases. I stated a thread some time ago about the bitcoin price formulation so I wanted to make a bit of research.

Theymos sent mail to do so back in the day. So, nothing much will happen if a PM sends because most of the users are not active.
I thought that something like this might have happen back in 2015 but I did't find any info, now as you mentioned it seems like those who were warned and did't change the passwords/mails have to bear the consequences. Thanks for the wishes. One year went so fast as it was yesterday when I registered my account. I'm locking this one.

I don't see a DT tag so far. If I remember correctly, the account was wearing a paid signature. Now it's gone. Hope you get back the account soon.

The main part of the hacked accounts posting here for recovery are of users registered before the 2015 hack. Why don't we inform those users to change their emails and passwords so reduce this madness. I guess many of those users were not aware of the database leakage and they did't take precautions. Just a simple PM to them from the forum system with a reminder to change their credentials should be enough.

Looking for some statistics, but I could't find any info. Just wondering the percentage of transactions or the volume of BTCs that are not affecting the bitcoin price.

Sometimes when I don't know what some terms and acronyms means I use Google to find answer.
Are you saying there's a website that can answer all your queries? What is this magical all-knowing website and how does it know all these things? Can it read my thoughts as well because I'm often too lazy to type? As a owner of a computer repair shop for almost 10 years now I can tell you that many users buy their PCs from a store with only Windows installed and guess what .... only IE!! /things have changed now with Win10 and the Edge / and they never install anything else, so they have the worst search engine set by default + some more advanced mostly install some shitty software and get a bonus - Ask Search together with some malware Surprisingly, not everyone are using Google. EDIT> @OP, Lock the thread if you got your answer. This will stop the spammers from farming activity.

It may happen one day, but we are still waiting for the welcome message. It should guide you trough how to start with this messy forum, of course if you spare some time to read it.
