3441  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 20, 2013, 08:08:32 PM
Has Avalon sent a really nice fruit basket to Butterfly Labs to thank them for allowing them to be able to extract these rents from the market?   Do not get me wrong, I completely agree with what Avalon is doing as it makes perfect sense (and actually may make this a more orderly business as people will have to think for a minute before pulling the trigger).

Buy Bitcoins because they are going nowhere but UP as people will need to buy more than they expected.
I wonder if it is an April Fools joke?
3442  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 20, 2013, 07:57:01 PM
/damn i though it will be 2000$ or something around it i think i will pass it  Cry Cry.
The funny thing is, alot of people will still buy.

I would not be surprised if a ton of Batch #1 customers start selling theirs. I know I am considering selling mine. One Ebay user is getting his sold for 15k....and he/she still doesn't have it in their hands.

I am going to guess the jump in price is a tremendous investment in the next process node they are aiming for. From the looks of it, they may well skip 90nm. (Pure speculation though)

---------------------

What is more interesting than anything else is what they intend to put out with respect to Gen 2 modules. Perhaps the same configuration but higher density chips I am hoping.

Are they still using the "Greater than 66Gh/s" language on their order page?
3443  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalons are like Justin Bieber tickets on: March 20, 2013, 05:00:57 AM
IMO, the potential rewards are so great that they are worth all of the risk, all of the mouse-jockeying, and all of the other BS that one needs to go through in order to obtain one.
Mind if I ask how many BTC you have earned since your delivery? (Round number is fine)
3444  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: store.avalon-asics.com - "prepping for batch #3" on: March 19, 2013, 10:41:13 PM
as stated before its first come first serve when the open the flood gates.... does anyone have inside or other info on when batch 3 will open? Ive been sleeping with my phone in the case i do get the email in the middle of the night (daytime in china).
You don't have to be so radical, you will have a few days of notice. Just keep your btc ready.
Please keep doing what you are doing. Radical gets you a spot in line.
3445  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalons are like Justin Bieber tickets on: March 19, 2013, 10:30:18 PM
I sometimes feel that the course of events in the near future will be very erratic. As soon as Avalon announces the imminent opening of Batch 3, it feels as if hundreds would rush to move assets into XBT. And once Batch 3 opens, I bet it won't be half an hour before it sells out.

The question is, why? Participating in an ASIC lottery is little better than participating in a regular lottery. Why is there such a rush to queue? Is it for the thrill, is it the gambler's fallacy, is it something else entirely? It almost feels as if Avalon will be the next SatoshiDICE—when measured by how much money people lose, and lose gladly.
Half hour?

Half minute is more like it.

Money will flow fast enough to probably trip an NSIS or TFi trigger. (I am joking!)

3446  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Top 10 reasons why BFL will postpone their April 2013 shipping date on: March 19, 2013, 07:23:01 PM
so... Why so much hate towards BFL from those who bought Avalon? I mean seriously. You should be happy and grateful for BFL not delivering in time. The longer they don't deliver, the more money for you. Instead of mocking BFL you should praise it. Just think if they didn't delay so much, you'd be getting waaaaay less today. Only people who should be depressed about BFL are those who bought their rigs. But they seem don't mind it, or they won't show it. No one wants to demonstrated they made a bad judgement. It is like horse race, you make your bet which horse will deliver first asic... Those who couldn't deside and bought both Avalon and BFL should also be happy. So come on, guys/gals, no need to rub it in to poor (and in some cases I mean it literally) BFL customers. Grin
Praise Josh for his incompetence....wait...Josh didn't make the ASICs. Nasser did....or was it Chronicle Techs incompetence....Perhaps it was the Fab at fault...no...perhaps it was the bumpers....no wait....the packagers....or was it the broken tester?

I am confused...who should I praise for this <cough>miracle<cough>?

i guess he doesn't need to make anymore sale? lol

#9 - Luke Jr. ends up setting BFL headquarters on fire by accidentally overclocking the clock buffers buffing the buffed clocks.  Cheesy
I thought he would have set it on fire after finding out it was a den of lies?
3448  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Luke Jr. @ BFL on: March 19, 2013, 02:05:10 PM
I told him not to fly through the Bermuda Triangle!
3449  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Luke Jr. @ BFL on: March 18, 2013, 04:50:56 PM
The following is a post full of pure speculation:

I'm noticing a distinct lack of Luke posting anything but pictures of neon signs.
Anything else and...it would tip the masses that there is something wrong.  Grin

I just laughed at my own joke....cause it is true. We all probably know it is a clusterfuck behind the scenes. We just don't see anything directly to confirm it.

In the absence of a confirmation there is only "speculation".

=============

When their tester had a bad socket, they went to Plan B.

Plan B: Blindly slap each chip unto the PCB's and pray.

Plan B1: If slapping the chips on the sockets actually works....then program the chips with firmware and hope you can hide bad chips stats from the users who will be receiving them. Overclock as necessary.

Plan C: If too many chips come out defective or under spec. We will send each customer an extra unit to compensate.

For anyone who doesn't believe me about "Plan C", go read the Shout archive for BFL_Josh. In or around 3/10 at 11pm. (If I recall the date correctly)
3450  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL 3-15-13 update...Testing to Shipping...in "days". on: March 18, 2013, 05:48:17 AM
Sir, At least Duke Nukem Forever shipped...ten years later.

Who knows if BFL ever will.

I feel you have soiled the Good name of the Duke. The resemblance is only in passing.

You're slipping! You missed an opportunity to coin a new word. Care to play again?

Do I really have to state the obvious? Butt Full of Lies?

You're Joshin' me, right?
Holy...shit.....

That is genius! It can mean anything:

From your getting hassled to potentially hustled...all the way up to "your lying to me" all the time...all wrapped up in one word.

You ought to sell that on a T-Shit to BFL customers. As well as submit it to the slang dictionary.

3452  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 16 Avalon photos on: March 17, 2013, 09:32:51 PM
Same with PSU, it is located near the end of the heatsink where hotest air is sucked into PSU
another cutout, rotate PSU by 180 degree

there are NO heatsinks near the PSU.

the PSU fan is not power enough to maintain a low temperature. the front fan will help the PSU to cool it self.

this is the last time i post about heat dissipation design, do what ever you want to do to your own machine and void your warranty please.
Second time I ask,

What are the warranty terms? Is there a warranty?

2 points:

1, keep the case closed.
2, the 40pin ribbon cable our using is not IDE cable. IDE cables have some internal connect.
What is the warranty on the Avalon devices?
3455  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 16 Avalon photos on: March 15, 2013, 11:51:32 PM
So each larger module is composed of 8 smaller modules?

I really do wonder what Gen 2 will bring. I had thought that the large modules were one solid piece....apparently they break down into even smaller ones....
3456  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Has anyone actually filed an FTC complaint? on: March 15, 2013, 03:06:41 AM
By the way, on BFL forums, there are a few users complaining they can't pay with Paypal. Some think it is a site error and BFL staff says they don't know, just try again.

I wonder if Paypal found out that BFL is doing Bitcoin Related transactions. I recall on the forum people said Paypal will cancel orders if they know it is Bitcoin related. Any truth to this?
3457  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL says ALL SALES FINAL on: March 15, 2013, 02:56:02 AM
Watch the refunds in action. A true test if their sales are actually "final or not'.

https://forums.butterflylabs.com/pre-sales-questions/1332-how-do-i-cancel-my-order.html
3458  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Has anyone actually filed an FTC complaint? on: March 15, 2013, 02:23:02 AM

You forgot greed.  People aren't cancelling their orders because they want to be among the first to mine with ASICs.  If someone else was offering large quantities of ASICs available for delivery right now, I suspect BFL would see a lot of cancelled orders.  Batch 1 and 2 customers might still hang in there, but I suspect that many people who can't expect to see a BFL ASIC until mid-year even if there are no further schedule slips would jump ship.
This is the eventual clusterfuck I was imagining would happen.

People see others get theirs, and then pound the doors demanding on where their device is.

One lone BFL guy isn't going to be able to tell them it will ship in June or July. It'll end in a clusterfuck in one way or another. That is my 2 LTC (if I had any!)

3460  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bryan Micon's Butterfly Labs Scammer Investigation including Josh Zerlan on: March 14, 2013, 07:18:18 PM

Josh in his shout box!

Just for shits and giggles as I uploaded the image this popped up to verify I was a human.... Ironic to say the least.

Well that was friggin rude!

PL deserves to be on that list every bit as much as I do! Tongue
Thank you!

Someone in my fan club should petition it right away.

Here I am, helping Josh move some "boxes of fans" through his sales channels and I get no recognition. I might just revoke my membership to the Friz fan club!
