Anything is possible with unlimited time and finance. These plans sound very
ambitious and will take many years to impliment.

Creating fertiliser for your own garden is not too much hassle, creating fertile
soil for 18sq miles is another.

Who is going to work on all these projects for the infrastructure, they would
have to be qualified people who know what they are doing.

I could see this working in any existing country, it would essentially be a "commune"
it would be far easier to be off grid, self-sufficient and have a sustainable living setup.

3462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 29, 2021, 08:08:30 AM
Lopez and granollers are playing against Rublev and Karatsev and the result right indicates that they are going to play a third set, I think Spain will win this match because they have better experience in doubles and the odds are pretty good for them to win @1.94, I have to take advantage of this, what do you guys think ?
Unfortunately they lost and this defeat made Spain unable to defend their title, Good move for Russia.
Here are the countries that made it to the quarter-finals
Russia vs Sweden
Great Britain vs Germany
Italy vs Croatia
Serbia vs Kazakhstan
Source
My prediction is that Russia, Great Britain, Italy and Serbia are very likely to make it to the semifinals.

I watched the Spain Russia doubles match, in the first set Spain, particularly Lopez
couldnt do anything wrong and Rublev was the weak link on the Russian side, that all
changed from the second set as Rublev was finding his first serve again.

So Serbia are still in as lucky losers with Sweden. I suppose a lot of people will
expect Serbia to come through against Kazakhstan.

Great Britan v Germany should be a close one as they seem evenly matched.
3463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you guys think 0.1BTC is enough to "make it"? on: November 28, 2021, 10:44:11 PM
... what does 'make it' mean ...

Exactly, make it when? where?

Buying a cheap property and living self sufficiently and sustainably without having
to pay a mortgage with a day job could be deemed making it

Owning a super car and a 10 bedroom luxury mansion to some would be the only
criteria needed to make it

Only one scenario will be possible with 0.1BTC, think about it when Bitcoin goes
to $1,000,000 per coin you will have $100,000, factor in inflation and see what it
gets you. The cheap property offer sooner looks to me like a good proposition than
the luxury material posession life. But everyone has different goals and expectations.

So yea making it is very subjective.

@Trofo & @btc_angela correct well said and I agree totally.

He is currently playing against Galan of Colombia, he has last the first set to the
Colombian, as did Tiafoe against Mejia of Colombia. Tiafoe won in the 3rd set
tie break. It was a nip and tuck affair for the whole match with some fantastic shots
by both, The commentators were mightily impressed by the Colombian youngster
who is ranked 276.
3465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHEN DO YOU BUY BITCOIN? on: November 28, 2021, 04:40:28 PM
Haha. I think this is the most frequently asked question for us. I am in crypto since 2013. But most of the time I didn't HOLD my coins. I regret this.
Rare are those that managed to HODL since 2013 without selling anything so you shouldn't beat yourself about it. I enetered crypto at similar time (late 2013) and also had to sell some of my crypto from time to time, sometimes even when price was really low but that's just how it goes. Luckily, I only sold the bare minimum I had to due some unforeseen expenses so I managed to hodl majority

Yea I dont think there are many who have full access to their wallets who have
not spent a portion of their Bitcoin either willingly or reluctantly but there are
always opportunities to buy back and in a couple of years we will be happy we took
all the opportunities to buy and HODL
3466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHEN DO YOU BUY BITCOIN? on: November 28, 2021, 12:39:51 PM
Lots of ways and theories to buy Bitcoin, DCA and BTD are popular and very worthwhile
options. Buying low and then Selling at the highs are great if you are experienced in
trading and can do your own market analysis, otherwise its a guessing game and
you can lose Bitcoin.

What I have done to date is:

Cut out buying stuff you dont need and use those funds to buy BTC

Sell stuff you dont use and buy BTC

Borrow FIAT to buy BTC (this is only viable IMO at strategic times, like just after a halving)

BTD and DCA

Itally won against USA in Davis cup which was sort of expected but Sinner destroyed Isner 6:2 6:0. I don't think Isner lost the match with just 2 games by his name ever. Even against players like Djokovic he almost always managed to get 3 or 4 games per set on board. I guess he is out of form but still Sinner must have played some incredible returns yesterday since Isner serve is a force to respect.

I didn't see it, but the reports do say that Sinner played extremely well. I don't know with Isner, I suppose so much of his game is based on the strong serve and winning all his own service games, if that serve starts to misfire, or he faces someone who is great at returning, then he can struggle. Isner actually ranks top on percentage of service games won this year, a ludicrous 92%... so maybe he did just start to misfire a bit.

Its not a great system to rely on one single shot or a serve or not have a crucial shot.

I never warmed to Isner, its all about the serve with him and it is brilliant but I think
he relies on it too much as in his other game play is not as impressive.

Being an all-rounder like say the top 10 players is essential.
3468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: #buythedip is trending all around on: November 27, 2021, 07:55:50 PM
I along with many on this forum have been buying the dips for years, it has been trending
on this forum longer than the El Salvador thing.

Now the new investors will be on panic and the same will make them go for selling, while the experienced will make use of the opportunity.

Regarding the new COVID-19 strain, it looks like the dip happened in line with the stock
market pull back, its not just weak hands selling it can also investors selling Bitcoin to
cover their other investments.

The new "South African" strain of COVID-19 has been detected and is already on the move with a case diagnosed already in Belgium.

Yes, I've been watching the SBS news just now discussing omacron (I'm learning the Latan alphabet one variant at a time)

We will probably see limited international games in the coming year and similar the the NRL where there were concentrated hubs if players isolated from the rest of the community.

Hopefully this new Omicron variant turns out to be nothing to worry about, but I'm still praying for the world. I'm grateful South Africa detected the new variant so quickly and reported it. Probably saved countless lives, if this thing turns out to be a deadlier new strain.
I hope other countries that see new variants popping up in or coming through their countries catch them and report them quickly and honestly too.

I'm not sure it was quick enough though, there have been two confirmed cases in the U.K
and it seems to be more transmissable than the Delta variant. Rugby matches will be
affected as will other sports in December and into the new year.

Update on the URC:

Connacht last night came back to winning ways at home by beating The Ospreys 46-18.
I was offered 2 free tickets to go to the match but I would only have made it in for the second
half.

E D I T - 02/12/21

Update from last weeks URC

While all the South African games were postponed due to Omicron, all the other
scheduled games were played with a few upsets IMO.

Benetton held out to beat the Glasgow Warriors by 1 point - 19 - 18. Looking over the
stats for this game they really read in favour of The Warriors but the Benetton defence
looked to have been able to deal with the attacks from The Warriors. A good result from
Benetton, they are mid table having lost 3 and won 3.

The Dragons were beaten by Edinburgh 14 - 30

And Ulster beat the home team Leinster 10 - 20. Even though it was a low
scoring game Ulster were far superior against the #1 positioned team on the table.
3470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Is the bubble about to burst?" on: November 27, 2021, 10:34:30 AM
While I get that most of Bitcoin is being held by a small percentage of addresses, I'm trying to understand what exactly the point is. Is the article indirectly implying that BTC and crypto in general also being manipulated to a great degree, creating a hype bubble which will eventually burst? You, as someone who looks like he's experienced with such incidents, what do you believe? Are we in a manipulated bubble about to burst? Or did I get it all wrong?

So what? Its always like that and you will never change it. Some people work 10h daily, are smart, brave, others live from social benefits. Some are focused on their hobbies, other or addictions (drugs, alcohol, pornography), others on earning and multiplying capital. One person buy new iPhone as soon as he manage to save 1000$ other use this money to start business or invest in others business. People are different so their wealth must be different.

Its not about who have how many bitcoins. Bitcoin was not created in a way that everyone have 0.01 BTC and force people not to have more or less. Its impossible and in fact it blocks its main purpose (transfer of value).
Once again. Bitcoin was not made to make everyone wealth equal. It was made (one of its purpose) to make everyone chances equal. To transfer value without restrictions, to obtain asset that is not printed out of thin air by single centralized identity. Asset that its purchasing power did not decrease 95% in last 100 years (only because of printing and no max supply). Asset that cannot be seized by anyone.

Focus on your wealth and how you can multiply it instead of looking at others wallets.
I certainly agree, I never implied that Bitcoin was created in order to evenly distribute wealth. However, I'm pointing out that these few people, who are holding most of Bitcoin, can definitely play a vital role in the market. We all had our fair chances of obtaining Bitcoin, and most of us didn't, there's no one to blame for that. Bitcoin (and cryptocurrencies in general) provide us with capabilities that fiat currency cannot.

Absolutely! what is the alternative?
FIAT, that thing which we are trying to escape
Gold, not practical

I have read the article and there are some interesting points, is it designed to spread FUD?

I would need to read it again to fully get my head around it but one thing stood out purely because
its something I have been thinking about for a while and that is in this line from the article

Quote
..... In fact, a new power has risen alongside the existing financial aristocracy: the crypto elite, who’s secretly formed a monopoly behind the scenes.

There is an elite and there is definitely market manipulation designed to relieve
us of your Bitcoin. The manipulation can burst a bubble, whatever bubble that is but it still
remains that in these current times Bitcoin is the only escape from the current financial
system and there are still only going to be < 21,000,000

3471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: November 27, 2021, 09:12:38 AM
Ah its definitely a niche sport but I would say it would be the pinnacle of the Gaming world,
would I be correct in that theory even though it might not be the most popular?

The first game ended in a draw >
 https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/nov/26/magnus-carlsen-ian-nepomniachtchi-world-chess-championship-game-one-news-report

As with most sports the difference between #1 to say #5 is not massive, this championship
could be a close fought affair.

Even if he announces that he got the vaccination for real or not he will
come under a lot of criticism from his anti-vaccination supporters, it
will be a big thing for him to defend his decision to go against everything
he talked about before. It will be very interesting to see what he does.

Will he forgo his opinions in pursuit of an almost guaranteed 21st GS
win at his favourite event?

How will he react if he gets vaccinated and loses at the AO?

Great, thanks for the heads up HH

I am in the E.U and can confirm 4 copies please.

I can also organise re-shipping to any other E.U country or if someone else with
bigger trust wants to do it I'm ok with that too.

Note: Regardless of the quantity I might (most likely) have to pay import duty for
items bought outside the E.U.

UNITED RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP

The competition is back up and running for this weekend with round 6, Connacht are
at home to The Ospreys. Strangely enough Connacht can perform better at away games
than they do at home.

Saturday sees all the South African teams playing at home.

Stormers v Zebre
Benetton v Glasgow Warriors
Sharks v Scarlets
Dragons v Edinburgh
Bulls v Munster
Leinster v Ulster

I tried to put some bets on the URC games this weekend but Sportsbet dont have any games
listed which is dissapointing, Connaught are leading The Ospreys ATM.

3476  Economy / Economics / Re: Prospective retailer on: November 26, 2021, 07:07:04 AM
I suspect the OP thinks they can set up an exchange and walk away to let it
function itself, all they have to do is collect the fees generated from it.

They are correct in thinking it would be profitable though but with a lot of hard work.

Who is going to create the platform?
As @mk4 points out the marketing alone will be massive in order to compete in a
very competitive space.
Who will maintain the platform as regards security and queries from customers
in relation to issues they might have.

So no definitely not passive income but if you set it up and then leased it to someone
else to run, that would generate a passive income for you while you are not actively involved.
3477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Governments planning a Crypto Crackdown? on: November 25, 2021, 08:05:51 PM
The general consensus of the experienced members on the forum is that this
is nothing new and generally it will continue.

I'm not reading the articles but in terms of the headlines:

Are surveillance and taxation coming soon to a blockchain near you?

Yes is the answer, while the Bitcoin blockchain, protocol and code etc. are safe, decentralised
and independent of any single controling entity, governments can control the entry and exit points (to a degree)

Sweden is Calling for EU to Ban Cryptocurrency Mining to Meet Climate Goals

There are way more harmful industries which could be banned before Bitcoin but too
many governments overlook them to protect their business interests.

In Ireland a player say from South Africa playing for one of the provinces can become
eligible to play for Ireland after 3 years, if they decide or are forced back to their
native country for any number of reasons they could play international rugby for their
native country with this new rule.

Hmmm thinking about it more I dont think it is or will be utilised much.

I can imagine there are a lot of south pacific players who try for New Zealand but
have to switch back to their own country to get games as you guys point out.
