3481  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 15, 2015, 05:36:27 PM
Can I please ask for some help here?

Quote
Anyone having an issue where the webUI doesn't show any miners but it's mining? Also, once I SSH to the rig, how do I take a look at the cgminer console? How about cgminer-monitor restarting every 5 minutes? (I commented out the cgminer-monitor in crontab) Man, without being able to see any of the ASIC info or the console trying to troubleshoot this is a real problem. Anyone had any luck running these rigs using Minera?

Mon Dec 14 22:15:01 2015 cron.info crond[404]: crond: USER root pid 970 cmd /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor
Mon Dec 14 22:20:01 2015 cron.info crond[404]: crond: USER root pid 1121 cmd /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor
Mon Dec 14 22:25:01 2015 cron.info crond[404]: crond: USER root pid 1226 cmd /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor

Thanks!

PS. I just re-imaged clean using the image in the OP, so I'm pretty sure that isn't the problem...

Same issue here rootdude. I have two of mine doing this about once a week. A hard reboot of pi and PSU usually works. But, twice now I have had to re-image and re-configure to get them showing the connected miner and mining info. Weird one. Have not figured out completely yet.

Interesting it should detect them.  I would try what Phil suggested first.  If that does not work try this (just a guess) but see what happens if you turn power on to miners with RPI off.  Then turn RPI on with them on.

It should detect it without doing that but I wonder if it makes a difference for you.  Mine had a hard day the power was off so electric company could cut tree's.   It was fine after I was not there to do anything.  So that was good.  But they did survive a power outage and turning on.
3482  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Can you solo mine with block eruptor or not? on: December 15, 2015, 05:30:43 PM
Anything's possible... likely? No, it will take you millions of years to find a block on average. As for why they sell them to you, it's because it's easy to sell hardware to people who don't know what it is they're buying if the sales pitch is all bullshit.

I bought on Amazon UK, And sales pitch was that I could earn at least 25 bitcoin per month. If that's really not true I will raise an issue with Amazon

I seriously doubt that, bet that it actually said "up to 25 bitcoins per month", which is in theory true.

Can you post the amazon listing? I find it hard to believe this happening to.  I can't imagine anyone listing that way.

If so if you contact amazon I bet you could get money back.  (Depending on time and if you believed it.. which is hard to believe anyone would believe).   But amazon is very good on taking care of customers if listed wrong.
3483  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I decide to buy miners from this website on: December 15, 2015, 05:26:42 PM
Hmm, for starters big up for you. Trusting a anonymous website with your btc.
Their site has address information which is good.
The design on the other hand is outdated, seems they did not bother to use a premium template which cost only 16 USD or so

The prices are way too low:
http://septriya.com/bitmain/antminer-s7.html

Bitmains sells them for 1600+, so they buy them for 1600 and sell them to you with loss? which seems very unlikely.
Honestly I think you did make a big mistake. Look at their WHOIS:
Registry Registrant ID:
Registrant Name: WHOISGUARD PROTECTED
Registrant Organization: WHOISGUARD, INC.
Registrant Street: P.O. BOX 0823-03411
Registrant City: PANAMA
Registrant State/Province: PANAMA
Registrant Postal Code: 00000
Registrant Country: PA
Registrant Phone: +507.8365503
Registrant Phone Ext:
Registrant Fax: +51.17057182

I think you should have done better/proper research mate.

I  think it was someone trolling.  In this case it did not any research when price is so low.

No one sells a U3 for 5 dollars.  And other prices were obviously to low.  It's setup for people who think wow great deal... i must order soon.
3484  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Setting up new diff thread Dec 6 to Dec 20 picks closed. on: December 15, 2015, 05:23:17 PM
The day is only 2/3rd of the way done but so far we are at +34 %

my thoughts are this is bitfury putting the 175ph to 225 ph farm online  it is a 50 Mega-Watt farm and it is real.  SO unless it burns to the ground due to bad wiring  we will get a 20% or more jump.

But there is an interesting thing  before new gear back in sept we had 405ph all at .5 watts or worse.

It will go offline if price does not move over 500 usd.

An s-3   loses money at  500 gh 400 watts  at 10 cents a kwatt  at a diff of 101 with the current price of 457 so the s-3 will give up the ghost next jump.

there was about 60ph in s-3's

So when the gets over  100 diff which it will by years end older gear will drop off.

It is crazy.  If they can a dataccenter with that much power.  It is crazy.  I just am happy SP team has not got SP50 out yet.  Imagine it jumping in to this.

Good news is we are hitting over 460.. so good.  But the difficulty is crazy.
3485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining at VPS on: December 15, 2015, 08:10:49 AM
how much I can earn in a month from the VPS server with RAM 1024MB, CPU 2 x 3GHz,  disk 80 GB?

None VPS mining was very fun in the day.  But it did not last a long time.  Was a ton of fun though I rented a ton of CPU's and mined alts.

But today you will lose money if your paying for it.  And those specs wont bring you much at all in alt coins.   CPU/GPU mining is sadly dead.
3486  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I decide to buy miners from this website on: December 15, 2015, 08:08:09 AM
If it's a great deal, why ask here? Just go ahead and send your BTC or USD and hope it all turns to pure gold!!!

because it look like a scam, and probably it is, i would stick with what we known it's not a scam

any new company that might emerge now selling stuff like those, have a high % of being a scammer

I don't think you got the sarcasm out of his message Smiley.   Look above he and me told him not to use it OP still said it was legit.  OP was trolling chances are.

But re-read he did not mean seriously to buy there.
3487  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining still viable? Help me get started on: December 15, 2015, 08:06:37 AM
If your electricity is higher than $0.2/kWh, do not mine. You will lose money soon as the difficulty rises quickly. It is better to buy bitcoin directly and hold for long term.

a single s7 is doing $420 per month while consuming only $45 per month, with 0.05 in electricity, so even at 0.3(would be 6x45=$270 in consumption) you are still in, but the roi will take more time

this is thanks to the recent pump, so the diff does not really matter if you have a pump like this, that pump basically put us in a better position, than we were when the s7 was launched

It kinda depends on if they paid in BTC us USD.  If they paid at BTC value 230 we had forever they chances are sick when looking at today's price and btc value.

If they paid in USD then they were not effected by that, and have had extra time mining at lower difficulties.  Few fall in this category I do agree most fall in one you mentioned.

3488  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The best cloud mining site !!! on: December 15, 2015, 07:15:01 AM
Hey guys is it worth it to buy cloud hashing now or it is too late to make any profit?

Everyone will give you different anwsers.  Honestly there is no sure bet to say yes you make money or no you don't.   So no one can do that.

You can speculate I think mining will be profitable in right conditions.  I mostly deal with physical miners.  But it does depend on value of coin and difficulty.  The difficulty is what is making it ugly last few weeks.

But honestly do some ROI  math here: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator .  See if any of the legit cloud services fit what your looking for.   (You need to put in info to do it don't count on default info)
3489  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying Bitcoins with Personal Checks? on: December 15, 2015, 07:10:54 AM
I haven't used checks in my life and all but what will happen if someone steals your checkbook and writes himself some checks? Can you call the bank and have your money back?

Luckily I have not had to deal with that and see who covers it.  I've been lucky and never had problems with check's.

This will make me sound old but checks at a time were very common to use.   Paychecks, government checks a lot were shipped on a certain date to arrive at houses. Well bad guys figured out on day's that normally had checks come in... go to mailbox they are in secure envelope so easy to tell.... they then washed recipient's name and changed it to theirs.  They were able to cash checks and it was check fraud.

But now everyone has moved to direct deposit on almost all payment's.  Have not heard of a check washing scheme in a while.  I don't know for a fact but I'm guessing they cleared until owner of account saw on statement on some, but again could be wrong.
3490  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to mining and wanting to start with it. on: December 15, 2015, 06:57:13 AM

I like to pay off electricity with BTC.  Makes sure I'm not in too deep.  If you don't at least track it you won't know when it's time to sell and get new gen's.

But I admit if I thought was to cheap I paid some out of pocket.   I don't sell BTC when I think it's to low... but everyone is different.

So you have an electric company that has a fixed BTC price for your Kilowatt hours? What is the going rate for a KWh where you live (in BTC)?

Boy I would sure like to know where that is and see how it compares to my electric company here in Minnesota!!

In cash in coin to pay I'm not lucky enough for them to accept coins, sorry if it came out that way.   I sell at exchange then use that to pay electricity.  I don't sell my btc at exchange to pay electricity if I think it's to low (only a few times have done this)

If i pay with cash from my bank account and bitcoin goes to 0 i would he out a lot for all the electricity.   But this way I'm not out electricity as I take it out of my holdings.

And nothing great just a tad under 10 cents. Not horrible but wish it was better always want more ROI.
3491  Economy / Digital goods / Re: TUTORIAL - How to Turn 0.01 BTC into 10 BTC in 2 Days (eBOOK) on: December 15, 2015, 05:16:27 AM

so you admit that your title and promise is misleading?

It's not misleading at all, it's there to grab attention of people.

My guide is very profitable, so the % /day doesn't matter, you will make profits with it, no doubt.

I could understand you use tactics for the sales. It only attracts the newbies. But for high level members, they may consider your title as ponzi or traps, and wouldn't bother to click your thread. It is actually misleading.

What do you mean by ponzi? It's a book lol.

You had to have gotten a good idea after just reading it.  Is it something like buy low sell high.. and have good luck?  More detailed?

Or is it 100 percent scam.  I wish OP would change title to something else either way though.
3492  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 + 3D printed mods on: December 15, 2015, 05:05:26 AM
Is there a place to purchase the 3D printed duct/spacers I see in some of these pictures?  I've searched ebay, with no luck.

I would go to services and look for someone to print them.   I have seen a few sites that do it but all were pretty high it could have changed since I looked it was a while back.

But with hiring someone in services I think will be lowest price.   Unless you have a local maker club, a lot of big cities have maker groups that you could actually go to the person or club and one would print even cheaper.
3493  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I decide to buy miners from this website on: December 15, 2015, 05:01:45 AM
I find in this website miners very cheap price

Anyone tried them or have information about them

Decided to buy from them .....any risk ?

http://septriya.com/

Look at the prices... there is no way.  A 5 dollar U3?  Yes please... I want new U3 for that.  And I will sell for 10.

I mean it is a obvious scam.  If something seems to good to be true.... it is.

Hello ..... I bought here in china for 20 usd.... but only one pcs .... if wholesales sure will become very cheap u3

Notice you just said you bought for 20.... they are offering 5 dollar U3's.   Do you not see selling at least 1/4 of normal price could be scam?

Honestly if you try to say it's legit most including I will think your either troll or involved with scam.
3494  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 15, 2015, 04:51:32 AM
How can I check how much watt my second PSU has ?

And yep I know the ''sad'' story about the S4. Thats why I'm hesitating to push it more or whatsoever.

It's specifications are 1400w gold, which means pulling ~1555w measured at the wall when maxed out. I don't suggest pullsing more than 1300w DC from them if you want any sort of reliability. That would be approximately 1444w at the wall.

And if your wondering on watt's.... be careful on using a kill-a-watt on these.  One early mistake I did  when getting mine was using a kill-a-watt... it was not pretty it now instead of white has a brown mark between prongs.   It's not made for this kinda watt's.

But guess I was lucky to catch it and no real damage done.  Just was a little scare.

That's weird, I've used my kill a Watt on 2000+ Watt loads on 240v,and maxed out on 120v plenty of times. Never any issues. They're rated for 15A 125V. (yes it works on 240v)

Interesting maybe mine was a dud then.   I did leave it on for around a 2 week period.   I was testing all kinds of freq's and watched it slowly over the 2 weeks or so.

I never smelt any burning, or problem.  But when unplug it say the brown between prong's and was last time I used it on that much.  If rated for 240 mine must be a dud as was just 1 S4.
3495  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Free Uber for Life | 6$ | Autobuy on: December 15, 2015, 04:43:54 AM
Change the name on the account, only use each account once.  I've done it for a month now, no issues.

But it is correct in assuming it's cracked or stolen accounts?
3496  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Free Uber for Life | 6$ | Autobuy on: December 15, 2015, 04:34:32 AM
I just got a free (cracked I think) uber account. The last ubers have been in florida and I'm on the other side of the US so this would look extremely sketchy and odd for me to use. I don't think I would use this much if not ever, but if you're looking for cracked uber accounts feel free to go to this dude.

Does uber not do something?  It seems like either camera, or destinations would make this pretty easy to catch you if using cracked accounts.

If using cracked/illegal methods you really should post that in title as I think of many dangers of using.  Is it using stolen or cracked accounts in this method?
3497  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Butterfly Labs Cloud Mining on: December 15, 2015, 04:28:30 AM
Anyone else still using butterflylabs cloud mining?

And if so can u log into butterflylabs & is ur cloud miner still working??

Mine has dropped offline & i cant log into butterflylabs.

Are you being serious?  I cant imagine they kept cloud going this often... I will be very surprised if true.

I would have guessed it stopped when the lawsuits and state got serious with them.
3498  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Forum DDoS Attacks, why are they done? on: December 15, 2015, 04:24:15 AM
My question: why would someone o it on the forum?

Same reason as for exchanges, pools etc - extortion. Lose short term income while the site is down (no ads) and long term patronage.... or pay me.

Going a little off the deep into tin foil land aren't we?

DDoS is way over diagnosed for server issues, ISP problems and IT Staff incompetence.

~BCX~

It may be way over diagnosed.  But most of the time it's done is for a reason.  Normally trolls wanting to hurt someone or like dogie said money.

Either one is bad.  Just different kinds of scum out there some are in it for money other's are the "Lolz".

With this site being one of the most visited BTC sites it would not surprise me if they get lot's of attacks and chances are we don't even notice most of them. This site does put up money to to find people if bad enough.  I forget amount but during that last big hack they offered money for info leading to who did it.  Cant remember how much but it was sizable.
3499  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: December 15, 2015, 04:16:27 AM
Hi please help. WHat could be the problem on this machine?

Thanks!

First thing is take a look at these two bitmain help items:

PCBs: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204875015-How-to-diagnose-S5-hashing-PCB
Hashing at 600: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203559969-My-S5-hashes-at-about-600GH-S

Hopefully between the two that will help.  If not tell us more about power and PSU.
3500  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 15, 2015, 04:12:43 AM
Phillip is doing an excellent review on the 2K IBM PSU with higher voltage for both Avalon and S7 so really excited to see the results on whether he's able to keep these Avalon at the 3.7-4K TH stable with the 12.7 Voltage.

I got bored with the middle volt setting of  12.23volts   and I am now testing 12.56 volts  my garage is 88f and outside temp is 63 f normal temps outside at night in NJ for dec are 42f.

so 8 minutes at 12.56 volts  and i am doing 3950 for each avalon 6.

Pretty impressive overclock.  Thanks for sharing.

Do you happen to have the wattage used during that test?  And it's getting cold here to. It's going to get down to 40F here tonight.  I'm starting to need less big fan's running which is a good thing.   A little less overhead.

17 amps at 240 Volts = 4080 watts   it is running one s-7 and two Avalon sixes total hash is 12800 gh

so 4080/12800 = 0.31875 watts pr gh

the pair of sixes

Thanks for sharing!   Intersting that is a pretty nice OC with not losing a ton of efficiency.

Nice to know with right PSU you can really crank them up when you want, during periods like this where it looks like next difficulty change will be  nasty.
