The press conference from today, the opening day is up on youtube now, link >
https://youtu.be/gkO3Ms9djf4

It seems to me that the mind games have started already before the first game
in 2 days time, both players are asked about comments they previously made
about their opponent, they are not positive comments it seems like boxers
facing off each other pre-match but with words.
3482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: luck or hack? on: November 24, 2021, 01:14:20 PM
If the coins were moved it would either be the owner found the private keys
or be a "lucky" hack. Hacking a wallet is next to impossible, which is why
those 8999 Bitcoin are still in the wallet 11 years later.

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/167ZWTT8n6s4ya8cGjqNNQjDwDGY31vmHg

If these were to move I'm sure there would be panic by some, FUD by others but
the majority of us here who are levelled headed would take the opportunity to
buy the dip which would follow the panic.

Long term it would be confined to history and remembered as the time
a "whale" moved coins.

Interestingly the winners prize payout is only $110,000, i thought it would be more than that.

Where did you see this information? In fact, the prize money is much higher:

Quote
The prize fund is US$ 2 million split 60% vs 40% between winner and loser. If the match is tied after 14 classical games, the prize fund will be split 55% vs 45% in favor of the tiebreak winner.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Chess_Championship_2021

So, about 24 hours before the start of the first game. I studied many bookmakers (including fiat ones) and was surprised that none of them (even the largest ones) offer bets on the outcome of the first game. It is possible to place bets only on secondary indicators such as the number of moves, whether a check will be announced, etc. Does the outcome of separate games look so unpredictable to the bookmakers that they don't offer any odds?

You are correct, I checked it on > https://www.chess.com/article/view/world-chess-championship-2021

Quote
Prize Fund

The prize fund will be $2 million euros. The winner will earn 60 percent of the prize fund,
and 40 percent will go to the runner-up. If the match ends in a tie after 14 games and a tiebreak
will decide matters, the winner receives 55 percent and the runner-up 45 percent.

Before the start of the match, each player receives two hundred thousand euros as an
upfront payment of his eventual prize money. If the match is played in the country of one
of the players, then the foreign player receives one hundred thousand euros of the
prize fund and the remaining prize money is shared as stated above.

That would make more sense the current prize fund, I think I was looking at Wikipedia 2019.

It sounds like the bookies possibly cannot cover all the possible bets. Would it be
bizzare for someone to walk in to a betting shop and place a bet on the World Chess Championship?

It just goes to show how close it is in the World Rugby Union rankings, New Zealand
lost 2 of their games in the Autumn Internationals and are bumped to 2nd place by South
Africa who won 2 of 3 but had a poor Championship outing.

There are only 5 points seperating the top 5 teams ATM

Zverev ended the season well, I predict the final will be the same as the first round they met so confidently placed a bet at over 22.5 but Zverev was able to finish it in 2 straight sets, and broke 5 consecutive losses to Medvedev.
Djokovic's dominance slowly began to be replaced, AO 2022 is not an easy thing for him to be able to defend his title or his target to take all GS tittle in 2022, might be he still able to add more GS tiitle between 1-2 in 2022.

Both Zverev and Medvedev beat Djokovic this year so it proves that these younger
players are getting closer to claiming the #1 spot and challenging each other for
it on a regular basis, I think the dominance of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic is over,
yes Djokovic still has some GS that he can win but the challenge is bigger already for 2022.
The great results they have achieved this year, and next year it will be very possible to see all three face each other in major tournaments, some names who are also very likely to compete, Tsitsipas at RG because this is his favorite surface and Berrettini at wimbledon.

Absolutely, we have to consider the current top 10 as challengers to climb higher
or defend their positions. We can also factor in Dominic Thiem to make a comeback
and also we will be watching Carlos Alcaraz in 2022, great things are expected from him.

What El Salvador government is doing is very fascinating. A free trade zone for Bitcoin would push crypto adoption for all participants in the city to the next level since all entities and parties won't hod themselves back whether they're offering a business or a service. What would be really more interesting is for other countries to follow suit. I guess they won't until they see the success of El Salvador's.

It is fascinating, they really have to try an alternative to the existing currency they
are using, the US Dollar which they have no control over. They are at the mercy of
another country devaluing their currency.

The countries to follow El Salvadors bold move will likely be the ones also using the US
Dollar > https://www.worlddata.info/currencies/usd-us-dollar.php

We can be sure that the El Salvadorian government have a road map for their Bitcoin
adoption and development while there are many who think they are "flying by the seat
of their pants". Bitcoin City is another step in the development.

I have seen a few Chess tournaments, the level of skill these players are at is mind blowing.
I can play Chess but at a "hobby" level and certainly not regularly enough to improve my skills.
To be able to think many moves ahead is one thing but to be able to calculate potential moves
your opponent has and be ready to counter them is another. Serious skills needed.

Interestingly the winners prize payout is only $110,000, i thought it would be more than that.

My friend had bet big on Zverev. He watched every match of his and how consistently he was improving. There was no way I would have bet against Medvedev. Props to him for his amazing read.

If Zverev keeps this level up (which is a challenge in itself) he is unbeatable. Well done to your friend.
3490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 21, 2021, 08:34:14 PM
it was a long match which finished late, exactly what Medvedev hoped for.

I'm going for a Medvedev win.
I went for Zverev to take at least a set. I feel like this is by far the best surface for Zverev to beat Medvedev and he should be full of confidence after his match yesterday. It took some balls to serve those second serves over 220 km/h yesterday and I hope for more of the same aggression today. Medvedev lost sets against worse players than Zverev and against Zverev in the first match it came down to the few balls.

Should be a great match to end our season.

Thats exactly what he did, he carried his momentum from beating Djokovic into
todays match and played that top attacking tennis to eny Medvedev the win,
and did it comprehensively in 2 sets by breaking Medvedev in each set and
making sure his service game was on top, just like yesterday.

6-4, 6-4 in the end, Medvedev couldnt come up with the answers to beat Zverev.

3491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin City on: November 21, 2021, 04:49:19 PM
Unlike many other projects that have been speculated and talked about for years, I am pretty sure that this project will succeed only because its location is El Salvador. Because everything their president has announced and promised so far has come true, from Bitcoin becoming a legal tender, to building a mining farm that uses geothermal energy from volcanoes.

Some call him a dictator, a man who abuses his powers, and a lunatic who will ruin the country - but I think it's the most exciting country when it comes to Bitcoin, something most of us can only dream of. Although at first, I was a bit skeptical about all this, now I see that these are not just empty words and promises - I hope to visit Bitcoin City one day Smiley

Very good Lucius, I have seen before that you were not entirely positive towards ES
and Bukele. Your turnaround could be a sign that many more will change their minds.

We have to remember that El Salvador are breaking new ground with their Bitcoin
adoption, they are also doing it alone, no other country is helping (as far as we know anyway).

I hope as their plans progress that the country as a whole can benefit not just the elite.

Just watched the Medvedev v Ruud semi-final, it is over in 2 sets, 6-4 and 6-2 to Medvedev.

He said in the post match interview that it was a tricky match but he really didnt look under
pressure, based on this performance I would say he would beat either Djokovic or Zverev judging
on the shots he played today.

Yes, as I have said previously, this could go to under and Medvedev winning in straight sets. No more big comeback from Ruud.

He has the advantage of only playing 2 sets on just over an hour early today.
The Djokovic v Zverev match has the potential to go the distance

You are right, it was pushed to 3 set, but guess what? There was a big upset as Zverev down Djokovic.

Good moral win by Zverev and now that he and Medvedev are going into the finals, it will be another one to predict. But for me it will be a safe Over again as these two are going to have a battle.

As one of the commentators before the match said "Zverev will need to bring
his A game" and that he did. Based on that super performance in the 1st set
I was going to back him but I had in my mind that Djokovic would come back and win,
which he did ...and didnt do. Super performance by Zverev but at a fairly high cost,
it was a long match which finished late, exactly what Medvedev hoped for.

I'm going for a Medvedev win.
3493  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC $143k USD in DEZ a JAN on: November 21, 2021, 09:01:43 AM
I have heard from several publicly available sources that once btc price gets past certain resistance levels that $10k+ daily candles will be a more common occurrence. If true, then yes, petty much any number seems possible. Still, since the only $10k day I can remember was Tesla announcing they bought (actually more like $8500), I guess I have to see these gargantuan candles first to believe it.

PlanB tweeted this about 2 weeks ago >

Quote
Are you ready for +$10K daily  candles?
https://t.co/SSOCRNalJ5
I believe this is possible because of the low volume of Bitcoin on exchanges it
is easier to move the markets.

The most notable thing about stock to flow might be in any fixed target if people take it seriously it starts to effect the result itself.

...

We are really unlikely to get 98k this month, I think most of us know that but Im interested if say a million people believed and bought or held BTC especially for that reason.

Like a self fulling prophesy.

I agree that $98k is becoming less realistic for November, especially as we are currently
below $60k with 9 days to go, we need a few of those $10k daily candles.

3494  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Satoshi's 1 Million Bitcoins Legal Court Case Kleiman vs Craig Wright questions on: November 21, 2021, 08:30:38 AM

So in conclusion the only way we find out if Craig Wright is the real Satoshi Nakamoto is if he loses the court case and the judge orders him to give Kleiman's family over 500,000 bitcoins and we can see the 1.1 Million bitcoins in Satoshi Wallet has decreased a lot in amount of bitcoins in there after the case is finished? If so BTC will crash in value & BSV Bitcoin Satoshi Vision coin will take over?

This is the important question in the OP

The only way to prove ownership of the Satoshi Bitcoin is to either move some of them
from one of the wallets or sign a message from one of the addresses.

So in this weird court case if the Judge finds Wright guilty he would have to share the
Satoshi Bitcoin. Apart from Wrights supporters everyone knows he is not Satoshi.

Its such a nonsense case because if he is found guilty he wont be able to share what
he does not have access to, so the perfect scenario would be for the judge to order
Wright to pay the Kleiman family the same value as the Bitcoin "they are entitled to"
from the court ruling, that
would shut him up.

Bitcoin going to zero, i cant understand how or why this would happen...

Hmm interesting question,

Quote
But what if the PM includes offering of illegal trade regarding forum

I'm taking the question as selling accounts or merit swapping as the OP posted,
these two actions are hardly life threatening, I would agree with Lucius, just ignore the proposition.

If the requests become persistent then its definitely a case of reporting it.
3498  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Scam Coin Collectibles on: November 20, 2021, 08:12:07 AM
This is a bit thought provoking, my main concern would be the potential market for resale,
I would imagine it would be quite small for collectables other than the well known coins
like Bitcoin (obviously), Litecoin, Monero for example and for total $hitcoins like Doge purely
because of its history.

I like the idea of a credit card collection though, very different.
3499  Economy / Economics / Re: Are we in a bear trap? on: November 20, 2021, 12:18:45 AM
Well the sooner this event happens the better, let the sellers sell and if its
a mass sell off the effects will only be temporary  and they will realise their
mistake soon after.

I really cannot see a mass sell off, the community has matured and have a
long term outlook.

$55k was the bottom IMO, we are already back up to $58k+

Rublev vs Ruud, this might end up in two sets for Rublev.
It's very possible but maybe this time Ruud will give a tougher fight because of the motivation to get a place in the semifinals because he still has that chance, two sets with a tie break so I will still choose over, and under in the Djokovic vs Norrie match.

Another good win for me with the game extend to 3 sets on Medvedev vs Sinner.

Wasn't able to watch the game, but 6-0 in the first set and then suddenly Sinner was able to have a chance to snatch this one game from Medvedev.

Ok with the Rublev vs Ruud, I will stay and go over as well, I think Ruud will be playing hard on this game.

I went for Under 22.5 games in the match between Rublev and Ruud, plus i have Rublev to win the match i hope he wins it 2-0 in straight sets. Currently Rublev is dominating and already 2 breaks up in the first set, while Ruud keeps making unforced errors and cant hit anything

Yea I had Medvedev to win but I was sweating a bit in the 3rd set. It was
a strange match altogether, Sinner gets bagled in the first, goes for a
comfort break and comes out a different player to almost beat Medvedev.

Medvedev looked and acted like he had enough and wanted to have the match
over and done with because it was going on far too long, he took a lot of
chances in the 3rd playing 1st serve shots on his second serve, playing
to the audience. He is a strange character but he does bring something different
to te scene.
