3481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambled against Biden - funniest instance on: November 09, 2020, 05:15:23 AM
Pretty chill for a President gambling. Wouldn't that ruin his image to his people? If this is all part of a campaign to make him likeable then I do not think that it is working or I might be ignorant. It is a default emotion for someone with a power to be a good sport when they lose something, being humble is a rare trait when you are an elite.
3482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: TOP 10 Lottery Winner Losers on: November 09, 2020, 04:34:16 AM
Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Thanks for sharing OP! this is one of these articles that are curious and funny but if I don't read them here I read them nowhere else.

It is sad but for many people winning the lottery leads to degrees of misery they wouldn't have known in their normal lives. Some kind of poisoned gift. There is a film in my country about this, but I think it is an adapted script so I'm sure you know that I am talking about.
Glad that you appreciate the post. Do not feel bad for other people's mistakes if they have the means to prevent it. I do not know the film that you are talking about and I will gladly check it out.
3483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did anyone try to "gamble" with ponzi scheme crypto scam services? on: November 09, 2020, 03:46:38 AM
Newbies for sure and I’m confident that gamblers here are not dealing with those Ponzi scheme, we have to stay away from that shit scheme and gamble only with the legit site and free yourself from a big stress of getting scammed. I will never try to gamble on a suspicious gambling site, I’m fine playing on the trusted site so its not worth the risk to try a new one.
I had my encounters with this kind of gambling schemes too, I did the right decision on not doing what OP said cause I find it as a waste of time, the profit is not worth it and Icould have gone through other legit endeavors. There are a lot of these flying around and hopefully they do not get victims and scambusters take them down. Just gamble the old way, shortcuts tend to be dead ends.
3484  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Rise of Crypto Bookkeepers and Accountant on: November 09, 2020, 03:14:49 AM
Its normal for new job opportunities to open now and then when technology gets adopted. It was like that when computers became mainstream and typewriters begun to go out of use.
I remember years ago, in 2015 or 16 there was a thread in "legal" where a lawyer specializing in cryptocurrencies and taxes was offering his services. It was only a matter of time before accountants started to do the same.
I think that it is fair, when I was in highschool, Bitcoin was labeled as a criminal implement by many clickbait videos but the sheer fact that it involves cryptography is something that fascinated me back then. I think that it is fair that there will be book keepers and accountant in bitcoin especially now that it is getting a traction in mainstream and with more businesses integrating blockchain technology, I think that it is a good thing.
3485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yet another article: Is Bitcoin an Asset a Commodity or a Currency? on: November 09, 2020, 02:29:37 AM
Is bitcoin a currency? No!
I get the point, I know bitcoin is not a currency, but it is regarded as digital currency. Normally, a currency has no intrinsic value, it is just a representation of what we spend physically, a good example of currency is the paper fiat we do spend. But, even if we do not regard bitcoin as currency, it can still be regraded as digital currency or cryptocurrency. I get your point, you are totally right.
For me, bitcoin is in a gray area, yes it is a currency but since there is no widespread adoption it does not qualify but it fits the definition. It is asset in a way when it is put in a cold wallet because there is an object involved. In my opinion, it is farthest from commodity though.
3486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tax Question on: November 09, 2020, 01:43:23 AM
Do they tax btc in wallet or the fund taken as reward in the bank?
I have the same question because here in my country, there do not seem to have a regulation regarding taxes in bitcoin. Take note that there are cash apps here that use bitcoin and other tokens, and they do not seem to tax when there is an exchange of bitcoin to fiat.
3487  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest threats to the price of Bitcoin. on: November 08, 2020, 04:00:20 AM
One major risk is weak hands. Selling on a crash. Don't do that. Buy more, instead.

Personally I'm ready for the price to go back to about 5000$, my buy orders are already set up. If we go there and stay for a time, I will buy more.
I have the same preparations right now, although the funds needed are still not enough. Whales could crash bitcoin if they all sold their shares. I do not think that there are no other threats to bitcoin than whales doing the unthinkable. A 5k drop will be unlikely in the foreseeable future but the chances of it happening is still uncertain which is why we should be prepared.
3488  Economy / Economics / Re: Here is a conspiracy theory on: November 08, 2020, 03:09:39 AM
This is funny to say the least. You are like creating a problem tree here. Your root cause is pharmaceuticals failing to come up with a COVID-19 vaccine. And the overall effect is that a global nuclear war would ensue. There seems to be a lot of of disconnect in the middle.

Well, printing money, tax increase, companies filing for bankruptcy, inflation, harassment and bullying of other countries, and so on and so forth are happening all the time with or without a pandemic.
The hilarious thing here is it all leads to a nuclear war. This is what happens when you do not fact-check what you read and you always love fear mongering. OP's post is the proof that tabloid article should not be taken seriously even slightly. Can you provide proof for each of this problem that could support your theory.
3489  Other / Off-topic / Re: Space Debris: A Subtle Way to Doom Humanity on: November 08, 2020, 01:51:52 AM
Space junk cannot orbit Earth forever. It will either be pulled towards us or away from us into space. If it gets pulled towards it's going to burn in the atmosphere and if away we shouldn't really care. The only thing this junk can interfere with is orbital stations and satellites, but if that happens people will have to find a way to shield from the debris.
If we wait for them to go down, it will take a long time and we will accumulate more space debris the more we neglect it. It is funny that you posted that we should wait it out, did you know that space debris orbit the LEO like satellites which means they will stay there for a long period of time. Have you seen the damage of a speck of space debris because it is moving at orbital speed which means when it comes in contact with a satellite, it will be an obliteration.
3490  Other / Off-topic / Re: Space Debris: A Subtle Way to Doom Humanity on: November 08, 2020, 12:52:41 AM
Let's be honest, while countries/private corporations are not interested in space exploration so much that they will be hindered by space debris no one will do anything about it.
So catch a great business idea for now, the business of clearing the orbit from space debris. I am sure that the first person to do this will become one of the richest people on earth simply because the longer humanity lives the more garbage will appear in orbit.
That is what exactly this problem will make, new businesses. This time, it will be a race on who will be the first to come up with a practical and efficient solution to this profound problem. The pioneer cleaners will be swimming in money. There are solutions being developed and they are pretty sci-fi to be honest. If you watch Youtube video, they have there the proposed solutions.
3491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a world power? on: November 08, 2020, 12:18:16 AM
Bitcoin alone will not be enough, if there are enough people that will be opposing it, governments can be toppled to be replaced by something new. It will be a catalyst but it will not be the sole reason that someone will become world power, it is more on who has a bigger sphere of influence rather than who favors bitcoin. And also, nuclear capability.
3492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NotYourKeys.org on: November 07, 2020, 07:04:09 AM
And maybe you can add this as well: [Guide] Secure air-gapped crypto wallet storage method. Regarding Ledger though, since the data breach, there have been a lot of attacks as of late,

https://cointelegraph.com/news/ledger-owners-lose-1-1-million-xrp-to-scam-site
I do think that it is an advance level for the bieginners in cryptocurrency. It is not like everyone will be a target of this attacks. I say do not flood them with information that they will not use for the time being. Kudos to OP for making an informative website to help beginners get into the community without being intimidated.
3493  Other / Off-topic / Re: Space Debris: A Subtle Way to Doom Humanity on: November 07, 2020, 05:16:08 AM
A total destroyed space satellites could never happen, we do have space debris and I am not going to deny that they could cause other working ones to get destroyed time to time very rarely but you have to realize that space is vast and very big and even our orbit is huge as well. This means that if we could have enough time (decades) to figure out a system that could clear our debris in the distant future, we could have no problems with this at all, there is a long time until the debris is at a level where it is dangerous to even put a satellite, that is not starting to be a big problem right now, there is enough time.

Obviously it is a problem and obviously we need a solution but for a species that is getting harder to live in the same planet, I feel like saving the earth or leaving earth is a much bigger space goal we should have then clearing out some debris.
A destroyed satellite will contribute to the increase of space debris in our orbits(Kessler Syndrome). Did you not read the articles that I have presented there is even a video that I put there. The argument that our orbit is huge is a BS, if you look at the studies about space debris, you will be surprised by the scale. Did you know that those debris are moving at an orbital speed which means that when it comes in contact with a satellite that is also moving at an orbital speed, it will be destroyed. This may not look like a big problem but this will be when the time that LEO(Low Earth Orbit) becomes a prison created by trillions of space debris.
3494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: lets imagine world without fiat currency on: November 07, 2020, 03:50:18 AM
For essential supplies, Bitcoin can still be used to pay for the products and services. The good thing about Bitcoin is that you don't really need to buy or own 1 or more bitcoins in order to take advantage of the benefits it offers. People easily get carried away from they hear the price of bitcoin forgetting you can get started already with smaller quantities. Once that mindset is removed, we can start pegging the price of these commodities to denominations in BTC.  No matter how high Bitcoin's price get, it would still be possible to get small denominations.
It won't work on an individual scale because there isn't that much bitcoin to go around so that every household have one. It will be possible if there is a continuous circulation of cryptocurrency and what I mean by that is non-stop circulation to the point that it won't stay at an individual's hands for a minute or two. Not to mention that one power outage of a national scale could cripple everyone's finances. Plus it would not be practical to completely obsolete fiat.
3495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Top Reasons You Should Know More Before Buying Bitcoin (BTC) on: November 07, 2020, 03:14:25 AM
You also should not forget the unsavory reasons that is with bitcoin. There are a lot and I will only add one. That reason is its inherent market volatility, this could be troublesome if they do not know about crypto volatility. I advocate that we should learn the good and bad reasons when buying bitcoin not because I gatekeep other people from becoming part of the community but to let them know what they are going for, they might even find loopholes that others could have missed.
3496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why buying btc is hurting our environment like an atomic bomb on: November 07, 2020, 02:35:47 AM
There is nothing wrong with using energy. Do you live in a dark cave and eat raw vegetables?

Users of electricity are not polluting. The polluters are the generators of electricity. If electricity generators switched to solar or wind, you would have nothing to complain about.
OP's got a point though, the power usage is freakishly high but OP did not account for energy alternatives. I do not necessarily agree with some of his points but we need to address that energy consumption matter at hand. The usage of renewable sources is still low around the globe and I think the community can do something to help in the progression even if it is small contribution.
3497  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Russian authorities make rare arrest of malware author on: November 07, 2020, 01:41:32 AM
In russia, maniacs, murderers, rapists, terrorists, and those who are fighting against the current government receive a large prison sentence.
And economic crimes are not considered a serious offense. You can see that officials receive a 7-year prison term for a bribe, and after 3.5-4 years they are released from prison for good behavior. Smiley
It is in America that you can get 25-50 years in prison for tax crimes. There are no such punishments in Russia.

Therefore, no one cares about what someone stole from whom. If it was stolen from you, you yourself are to blame. If the perpetrator is found, there will be a criminal case. If they do not find it, there will be no criminal case. In most cases, no one is found.

And if someone steals in another country, then no one cares much more.
There are exceptions, but they are few.
I do not think that tax crimes sentences are not fair for the victim side. Do not get me wrong, American sentencing is a shitty one too and their prison system is for another topic. They should atleast have a compensation for the victims of tax crimes right? Something like liquidating the asset of the convicted and giving it to the victims or the state. Regarding stealing from another country, there is a need for the cooperation of both countries involved and if the other does not want to then nothing is going to happen.
3498  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Russian authorities make rare arrest of malware author on: November 06, 2020, 10:47:20 AM
It's time to clarify what Russian hacker forums represent. You will see that they sell fake documents and ways to earn $ 2,000 a month by paying only $ 50 Smiley
This is a bunch of idiots looking for free money.
There are no hackers, all hackers communicate on popular foreign forums.

Here are the statistics for Russia for 2019

https://xakep.ru/2020/06/23/criminal-cases-2019/

source  https://xakep.ru/

11 out of 27 criminal cases - charges dropped
13 out of 27 criminal cases - alternative punishment (without imprisonment - it can be a fine, correctional labor, etc.)
3 out of 27 criminal cases - the perpetrators were sent to prison.

Russia has very mild punishment for hackers.
Based on this data, this means that they tolerate their offenders because they attack foreign nations right? My conclusion might be wrong though.

We also should consider that most tech savvy people in Russia will go down this route because it pays big money, I do not know the living conditions in Russia but my countries currency is worth more ruble than vice versa. I think that this arrest is just a showoff to make it look like the Russian authorities are not tolerating attackers.
3499  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Money laundering via BTC on: November 06, 2020, 09:30:01 AM
That depends, I thought blood diamonds were still a thing also for storing wealth this way along with a bunch of other systems.

Bitcoin is worth very little compared to the diamond and gold industry and you can already get quite large amounts of cash across the border fairly easily afaik.
Precious metals and stones are too risky to be used for smuggling for money laundering, diamonds that are cut to smaller pieces loses their value. Gold on the other hands attracts scums that could get you into trouble when you should be avoiding one. Bitcoin is a good medium for money laundering although, it needs to be as discreet as possible so as not to attract suspicion online, we all know that someone watches the blockchain transaction. Bitcoin is not the best though, Monero will be the perfect candidate.
3500  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Cayman Island trying to become the next crypto friendly nation on: November 06, 2020, 08:46:49 AM
Cayman Islands is known to be one of the best financial hubs or wealth management hubs out there which is similar to Switzerland which I think we all know that they are also stepping up for the crypto industry so there is no surprise if they would attract people in availing their services in relation to cryptocurrencies because the market is already in there where the rich people can be interested in diversifying their savings in other kinds of investments/assets. When it comes to it being a crypto hub where companies will set up shop there I think it will always depend on things related to taxes, KYC regulations, and other laws which will attract crypto businesses for which we don't know yet on where they stand.
Soon many financial hubs will follow Cayman Islands footsteps, a little push in the scales and other financial/tax havens will do the same thing which will lead to another battle with money laundering that has been fueling this countries for a long time. I do like the idea of adoption but the chances of this tax havens using this cryptocurrency trend as another way for rich people to evade taxes makes the prospect seem not worth it.
