I sometimes wonder how are these people incentivized on writing this giant nonsensical bullshit. Do they really expect receiving private messages from people who are convinced (or just wondering) if they're indeed Satoshi? I want to believe that there isn't even one from this community. Correct mining is very energy dependent. Excuse me from asking, but from the above screed, the only thing you kept was mining and how energy dependent it is? This guy talked about electric cars, that the block chain has provided security (?), things that happened in 2008 (?), bitcoin's affection to society and closed by stating they're Satoshi Nakamoto and you only kept mining? Correct, my post was about the cost of those electric cars and the extraction of resources to make them, including the batteries. Affection to society - not in all cases. as posted Bitcoin will be continue to be highlighted for its energy footprint so what is happening in some instances is the opposite to what the OP is stating. We know the benefits of Bitcoin and Blockchain but many are still slow to adapt. Satoshi Nakamoto - no comment needed.

Medvedev vs Sinner: Tricky game to choose from. Medvedev is in decent form but the match being held at Sinner's home country while he was very good against Hurkacz. I still would go for Medvedev to win.. but for the odds provided. Doesn't seem worth it for me.
Hurkacz kind of let the pressure from the audience get to him, if there is anyone who can deal with a negative audience its Medvedev but this will be interesting because everyone will be 101% for Sinner, I believe he is more popular with Italian supporters than Berrettini, so my wife tells me anyway.

Correct mining is very energy dependent.
Think of the amount of energy it takes to produce the machinery to do the job, the energy to transport that machinery to the mining location and the energy to maintain those machines.
Now think of the energy cost of ripping the earth apart in search of those precious metals and resources we are after, then the energy used in processing those resources and transporting them all over the globe.
Electricity is being used by every industry, we are still producing electricity by burning fossil fuels, Bitcoin is using some of that electricity but so are all the GREEN EV's.
The Bitcoin and Energy Consumption debate/Whipping fest will continue to rumble on because there will always be people against it and people who will use it as a distraction from bigger issues (as above)

^ oh yes, definitely a close one coming up between Medvedev and Sinner purely based on Sinner's performance against Hurkacz last time out. I cannot call the winner of this one and I dont know which of my 2 favourite players I want to win.
Last nights game between Norrie and Ruud was a 3 setter, Norrie comprehensively winning the first set (which I saw) but Ruud recvovered to win the following 2.
In the womens WTA Final (which I havent been following) Muguruza beat Kontaveit in 2 sets. This is massive for her, she has had very mixed results in the last number of years, are we seeing some sort of comeback?

South Africa beat Scotland 30 - 15
Ireland against the odds beat New Zealand 29 - 20
England did the job against Australia 32 - 15.
I'm sorry I missed these games. Of all the above, I think Ireland Vs ?? games are the ones I've seen the least of out of all these teams. No surprises England beat Australia, they're getting like their League counterparts focusing on one match against one other side (Kiwis) and don't prepare for other teams. . . . And we think everyone wants to watch our games . . . We were ranked #1 not too long ago, I think going into the last world cup Ireland had the #1 world ranking but unfortunately when it comes to RWC time we are the great under-acheivers. This coming Saturday we will be treated to essentially a 2019 RWC Final REPLAY - England v South Africa. As a reminder the final back in 2019 resulted in SA winning 32 to 12. I realy dont know how this os going to pan out, SA won the Lions tour series but didnt go too well in the Rugby Championship and England have a few new players playing in these test games. Some other games to watch out for are: Wales v Australia France v New Zealand
E D I T
Results from the final week of the Autumn Internationals: Italy 17 - 10 Uruguay Scotland 29 - 20 Japan England 27 - 26 South Africa Wales 29 - 28 Australia France 40 - 25 New Zealand Ireland 53 - 7 Argentina Overall it was a good series for the home teams Italy winning 1 of 3 Scotland winning 3 out of 4 Wales winning 3 out of 4 England winning all 3 Ireland winning all 3 There is one last game to be played next weekend, The Barbarians against Samoa. France winning all 3

Norrie vs Ruud. It should be an easy win for Ruud. There's nothing special that Norrie does with his game. Just puts the ball in play and serve well. Ruud does that and is a better all round player with higher caliber. Ruud has already beaten Norrie this month with the scoreline of 6-0, 6-2 in San Diego. I don't expect a repeat of that scoreline but I do expect Ruud to wrap up the match in straight sets. Great odds provided at the moment. Pounce on it while you can. Good Luck all.
I think you are right in regards to Ruud winning this match but Norrie is in the top 20 on merit, he is a decent player and has had good results this year, I wouldnt be that negative to him. Djoko decided to completely crash you ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) he was motivated from the beginning, maybe because he saw that Rublev played great in first match, so did not want to give him head start was not watching the match, due to work, but looking at comments and statistics, Rublev was bad, to many errors, and Djokovic proved that he is best on return service This was their first meeting and Rublev did not believe. I expected that it will be tougher for Djokovic to adapt to Rublev game but I did not hear about Rublev interview before the match. He said that he will be lucky if gets few games in the match against the best player ever. You can't get out on the pitch with that attitude against Djokovic. What is worse Djokovic played well bellow his maximum, he did not need anything more against Rublev who was making unforced errors all the time. Of course, we all know that Tennis is as much psychology as it is fitness and skill, anyone going out against Djokovic needs to be pumped up 200%.

I'm just watching a doubles match waiting for Sinner v Hurkacz. Pity for Matteo to pull out but it was kind of expected, pressure on now on Sinner.
Doubles passed as expected with win for Dodig/Polasek, they were better troughout the whole match. Now I am gonna reinvest my tennis part of my tennis winnings on Hurkacz. Hopefully he will get first set for free while Sinner gets used to conditions. Sportsbet has him @2.10 and one set @1.45. I hope Sinner is not prepared for this but somehow I doubt it. It is his home tournament and it was expected that Berettini will not be able to compete. To bad Pavic/Mektic did not play better, would be even more money in the bank https://i.imgur.com/Kldyojq.pngEdit: what a loss of money. I am usually not bitching when I loose the bet but this performance from Hurkazcs was simply terrible. Without any fire and ideas. He played just to keep the ball in play and still made a ton of errors. What a super win by Sinner and a terrible performance by Hurkacz, he really play within himself while Sinner was really up for it with the audience with him. I didnt bet on that game, I thought it was going to be Hurkacz to win but wasnt sure.
Djokovic v Rublev, I think I will put a small bet on Rublev to win and one to win one set at least. He really does need to bring the A+ game today.

I like to call it a "Movement", the Buy the Dip Movement. So many of us here on the forum take the opportunities to buy the dips but I'm not sure all of us would wait to buy at this time at $59k.
The ATH last week was $69k and we had a pull back to the mid 60's, that would be an opportune time to BTD, I'm not sure there were many who held out for below $60k but well done.

Djokovic is a favorite after all, Medvedev is good at the moment, but needs continuity to be treated as equal to Djokovic, at least few years why did you counted-out Zverev, for me it is a clear run from second group to see Medvedev and Zverev in semi-final, so Djokovic will have to win over both probably, or Rublev can kick-out one of them in semi-final?
others do not have a chance, and it is really low-quality group stage, with everything almost known before the matches
That was some great tennis between Medvedev and Zverev today, whole match was in the balance all the time. With this win and Berettini deciding to not play any more due to the injury, Medvedev has already won the group. Djokovic is a mental beast but don't underestimate the surface effect, this surface is much better for Zverev and Rublev than for the "favorites" Djokovic and Medvedev. I will be playing against favorites in all those matches, handicaps on underdogs or for underdog to take at least one set. I don't give any chance to Ruud and Tsitisipas since the surface is totally not to their liking. Hurkacz could be good also, he played great against Medvedev and I am placing big bet on him today against Sinner if I get good odds and I find the bookie offering the market. They are slow to update and I still did not find where to play it. Didnt see it but I believe it was epic, a clise one between Medvedev and Zverev. I believe the head to head between Djokovic and Medvedev is 6-4. Regarding the surface effect, Medvedev already kind of suggested he preferred the slower courts but he did win the U.S open on a fast court. I'm just watching a doubles match waiting for Sinner v Hurkacz. Pity for Matteo to pull out but it was kind of expected, pressure on now on Sinner.

Apart from the private keys being stolen what are the 2 biggest threats to anything holding the keys?
Fire and Water
What is fire proof and corrosion proof?
Stainless Steel
So stamp your keys onto the SS and store that out of sight.
Giving your private keys to some other person or group to store it safely goes against everything Bitcoin was designed for.
If you need your keys at 11pm at night on a Saturday but your bank is closed, you have to wait until Monday morning at a time of their choosing.
Be your own bank

The one single thing that has kickstarted inflation is the response by governments around the world to the financial effects of COVID by printing money and continuing to do so.
The average Joe and Jane dont understand this or the finer points of inflation so governments can blame what they like but the vast majority are financially illiterate.
Because of COVID and the reopening of society there are now shortages in transportation, goods, containers and staffing, these are also feeding the affects of inflation.
Here in Europe we also have an added issue in the form of BREXIT, this is also having its own issues in the form of the above transportation and goods shortages, for some EU countries more than others.

That was fairly impressive serving by Rublev but his second serve is not great. He likes the fast court, it suits his aggressive power shots. Tsitsipas really couldnt deal with that service game.
The two strongest players are still Djokovic and Medvedev, it would be interesting to see another head to head with these two on this fast court and who can adapt the quickest.

...all in the bid to help its growth and also profit the masses as well as miners?
Just remember there are only going to be 21,000,000 mined Bitcoin and less available. It will become an elite coin, currency, asset, it wont be for the masses unfortunately, so few people realise this. The protocol will constantly improve. People will always attempt to create their own iteration of what cryptocurrency is. Especially when they can make a whole lot of money doing so. Many of these projects, if not all of them, will not make it past the next decade. Regardless of how "cutting-edge" the technology is.
Bitcoin will always be improving, this is why many of these alternate currencies will become obsolete.
This is not something that happens overnight, however. We just had the Taproot upgrade which was very significant, but we have a long way to go.
The protocol will indeed improve and it will take time. There are seriously talented developers working on Bitcoin. There will be new pretenders but as time passes Bitcoin will continue its development and outgrow everything else.

Tsitsipas vs rublev is the game i am waiting for today both players did not do good this season especialy tsitsipas he was absent from finals recently but he is still in the 4 top in ranking, he recently played badly in vienna and paris atp i think the reason is that he was preparing for the finals and he did not go all out to avoid injuries.
This would have been cracking match if they were in good form, as it is I will be watching to judge who will pass from this group together with Djokovic. Ruud is not a fast court player and I believe even out of form Tsitispas can win against him. Rublev is an unknown here, if he comes out all guns blazing this court is perfect for him, but if he is out of form he will make so many unforced errors that it will be difficult to watch. This is exactly what I was thinking, Rublev will love this fast court, he is a big hitter but I think a lot of people expected more of him this year. I might put a small bet on him. Tsitsipas has definitely been an under-achiever this year, he has missed so many chances. From winning in Monte Carlo back in April he has had mixed results and I have lost a lot of Satoshi's backing him. Loosing to Nadal in the final of Barcelona at the end of April Loosing to Ruud in R16 of Madrid on May Loosing to Djokovic in the Q-final of the Italian open in May Won Lyon open in May against Norrie Loosing to Djokovic in the French open with 2 sets up Loosing to Tiafoe in the first round of Wimbledon Loosing the Q-final of German open in July to Krajinović Loosing S-final to Opelka in the Canadian open Loosing the S-final to Zverev in Cincinnati Loosing the 3rd round match against Alcaraz in the U.S open Loosing Q-final of Indian Wells to Basilashvilli Loosing R16 to Tiafoe in Vienna Loosing R32 in Paris to Popyrin But still he manages to reach the finals.

-Development of Risk taking ability; to win big in life, you must be willing to try, and gamblers have so developed their risk taking ability.
-Development of the ability to quickly let go of things and move on; Dwelling on the past and the possibility of "what could have been" is really not healthy and it can weigh you down and distract you from "what can be". Though not so easy, gamblers have developed this ability to easily look ahead from the "near win" of yesterday, to try again today.
I particularly like the first points and on reflection I think I have developed these traits and only since I came to the gambling board. While I wouldnt be a big gambler and only playing with an initial pot of 1mbtc I am able to keep my gambling in check, assess the risk and if a bet doesnt work out, move on constructively while staying positive and assessing the next risk. Two more I could add: Moderation - like almost everything in life we should moderate our activity and balance that with other tasks and hobbies. Patience - everyone in the crypto (Bitcoin) space should be well versed in practising patience and realising it all doesnt have to happen today. If we can create a balance between all these positive traits and habits it should only lead to positive results.

Next up tonight is Zverev v Berrettini, massive home support for Matteo but he has not been on top form recently. Anyway I'm going with Matteo.
Watched the match and Berettini was good in first set. Missed a couple of set balls even. Then I missed what happened in the beginning of second set but Berenttini got some injury to abdomen and had to forfeit. As far as I saw nothing happened on the pitch. He just hit a strong forehand and something broke inside. I guess he had some prior injury since he has not played in Paris last week. Ah unfortunately he has this abdominal issue again which he has had before. Just watched that first set which was great but as the commentators on Amazon Prime (Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski) said Matteo plays with such powerful force, this is the cause of the injury. It looks like Sinner might get to replace Berrettini if he permanently retires

In the Next Gen final Alcaraz beat Korda in 3 sets, really too strong and a serious #1 contender.
Pretty much as expected all the way trough the tournament, too bad bookies realized that as well and odds on his victories were quite small. Big guys masters started today with the doubles match, another win for Mektic/Pavic. They looked really sharp from the first point and I expect them to pass the group easy. Singles start later on with Medvedev opening match. I am expecting another Mevedev - Djokovic final here. Maybe only Zverev could find way to fight for the title. The rest od the pack either does not prefer fast surfaces or have a bit weaker form coming into the tournament. Yes I just heard a repeat of Medvedev's interview after beating Hurkacz, he was saying the court is really fast and the point can be won after 2 good shots, now thats going to be very different for players to adjust to after a series of slow hard courts. Next up tonight is Zverev v Berrettini, massive home support for Matteo but he has not been on top form recently. Anyway I'm going with Matteo.

The logic for investment is buying low and selling high
This is mainly the logic behind trading not investing. When you trade, specifically in short term, you are looking for dips to buy in and to sell in a very short time afterwards. However, when you make an investment you look at the long term potential of the asset and whether it has reached that potential yet or not. And unfortunately too many newbies do the opposite, buy high and sell low. I had a funny thought when I saw the thread title, Is it safe to buy now? not if you are planning to buy off someone down a dark alley some night! With a long term outlook, the right time to buy is NOW If newbies have a trading view they will almost certainly fail.

Kenneth Griffin, billionaire CEO of American hedge fund Citadel, thinks a currency on the Ethereum network will replace Bitcoin (BTC) as crypto’s top dog. Citadel manages over $40 billion of capital — a quarter of the trading volume in the United States stock market.
....who isnt interested in a currency which isnt controlled by a centralised authority He added that Ethereum-based cryptocurrencies have “the benefits of higher transaction speeds [and] lower cost per transaction.”
.... who obviously doesnt know anything of the technical upgrades applied to Bitcoin as posted above. Griffin is a long-time crypto skeptic, especially of Bitcoin, which he claims there are “no commercial use cases for.”
....that says a lot, should we expect anything else from this non-believer? “People are very focused on a world of new ideas and new creation,” he said, “I worry that some of this passion is misplaced when it comes to cryptocurrencies.”
...seems like he is advocating for a lot of passion to be put (misplaced) into a $hitcoin centralised on the Ethereum network

Whats the reason most of the companies prefer the integration through a third party than direct acceptance. This shows they're into business and not into making use of the bitcoin.
Does that surprise you? They accept cryptocurrencies because they have become fashionable and they want to be pioneers in accepting them, but they are too volatile. Not everyone is a visionary like Saylor. I agree with Dave that even if they do it through paypal, this is good, it popularizes and normalizes crypto, and helps mass adoption. And not everyone is going to HODL indefinitely. The chances are the company are going to trade their crypto for FIAT. Also theatre or cinema tickets would only be a fraction of anyones holding, particularly if you have crypto since 2020 or before. I would and do spend a small portion of Bitcoin on hobby, entertainment but not it all!
