Interesting how some get deleted and some not. This is still open and bot-bumed even that I report it a few times.

For any scam accusation you can post in the scam accusation board. Regarding the red trust maybe it's a good idea to open a thread in the Reputation board about your case. There you get a better exposure and probably will be easier to get tagged the account. Edit: @OP you need to bump the thread often to get attention.

Yet everywhere I look, almost everyone who ever declares publicly that he owns an alt account, gets red-trusted.
Not everyone, only those who are using their alts to break the rules /forum or bounty/. For example Jet Cash have a few, LoyceV have also few alts, I don't have a need for alt but maybe one day I'll register one too.

It will be fun to see, it is not really accurate as sometimes I make a list and report the whole list in a PM to the mods instead of report every single case. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FkLhm9SO.png&t=663&c=HIy6Y9gKhoZTLw)

~ Would that also be possible with just an xprv? I don't think OP has any "normal" private keys. (Forgive my ignorance here, just wondering. ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) ) Unfortunately I have no idea as I'm not so advanced. I hope someone can give a bit more info about the case. It's also interesting for me.

According to Vod's BPIP database, there are 326,673 Active Profiles. That will say that those account have been active for the last 30 days. Of course many people log in not so frequently, so those numbers are approximate

Haha. (Almost) every time I find a interesting profile it gets banned eventually... The sad truth for the forum. Now I'm waiting for the user Vodlike to pop up

Try to move this to Trading discussions, it's more suitable section for this question. That seems rather useless. There's already dozens of threads about this topic, or about any notable exchange really.
Anyhow, if you want to trade BTC -> Altcoins, i don't see why you would use anything other than Binance for popular altcoins.
USD -> BTC i'd use Coinbase/Bitstamp, considering all the issues bitfinex and kraken have.
I cannot agree more with AdolfinWolf, there are enough threads like this already. Let's keep the B&H section spam-free and such threads with possibility to grow to mega-threads to be avoided here /and in the whole forum in general/.
|
|
|
This should be moved to Meta, there you have more exposure and it's the proper section for those requests/questions. You will find the move button in the lower left corner. Good luck.

How the hell you came up with this username?? Just wondering. Everything can be compressed in just 5 easy steps, as I wrote earlier today, you need to chose your priorities correctly : Congrats! Everyone can rank up, but if you wrongly prioritize your goals, it may never happen. People putting their priorities in the following order fail. 1. Get Merit 2. Rank up 3. Get more money. 4. Go to 1.
The right priorities are :
1. Be curious 2. Start reading 3. Learn 4. Be part of the community 5. Do something to help the others
The result will be exactly what the the guys from the first list are aiming for.
I support the statement that this thread should be moved to B&H section.

One of my colleagues got one and he was really scared. He said that there in the email was his real password. He never visit any pornsites, but the fact that his password was there got him. I guess many fall for this because till now the sum in the bitcoin wallet is 0.65696989 BTC This is insane.

That would be easy... in my case the field "seed" is greyed out ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) Doesn't sound good, I was thinking that if you have your private keys and you have the password should be possible to generate the seed from the private key (the private key is generated from the seed). See here : i don't see anyone mentioning this but it doesn't work the other way around! meaning you can not create a seed from a private key. instead you create a seed then get different private keys from that seed. it is an Hierarchy after all.
It was actually mentioned in the very first reply (2nd post) ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) It is not possible to generate seed out of private key, because private keys are generate from the seed.
However, theoretically, you CAN actually generate a seed from a private key as, in their simplistic form, both are simply large numbers... so there is no reason you couldn't use a private key to make a seed. It just probably isn't advised ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Long geeky example of converting a 32 byte hex to a mnemonic string:Private Key (WIF): Kx45GeUBSMPReYQwgXiKhG9FzNXrnCeutJp4yjTd5kKxCitadm3C Private Key (HEX): 18E14A7B6A307F426A94F8114701E7C8E774E7F9A47E2C2035DB29A206321725 The HEX = 32 bytes = 256 bits (max allowed ENT for BIP39 as per the spec), so we can just use the HEX as as our ENT. We also need to calculate the checksum as the first ENT/32 bits of the SHA-256 of the ENT. SHA-256(ENT): 547E964D2262DFCF5C03DA93F54AC0FE66B2856240F8A70AB0C582DE5860D062 => first 8 bits = first byte => "54" => 0101 0100 ENT + CS = 0001 1000 1110 0001 0100 1010 0111 1011 0110 1010 0011 0000 0111 1111 0100 0010 0110 1010 1001 0100 1111 1000 0001 0001 0100 0111 0000 0001 1110 0111 1100 1000 1110 0111 0111 0100 1110 0111 1111 1001 1010 0100 0111 1110 0010 1100 0010 0000 0011 0101 1101 1011 0010 1001 1010 0010 0000 0110 0011 0010 0001 0111 0010 0101 0101 0100 As per the BIP39 spec, we slice it up into 11 bit chunks and convert to words from the BIP39 wordlistword 1 : 00011000111 -> 199 -> body word 2 : 00001010010 -> 82 -> apart word 3 : 10011110110 -> 1270 -> paddle word 4 : 11010100011 -> 1699 -> stamp word 5 : 00000111111 -> 63 -> among word 6 : 10100001001 -> 1289 -> patrol word 7 : 10101010010 -> 1362 -> prevent word 8 : 10011111000 -> 1272 -> pair word 9 : 00010001010 -> 138 -> bacon word 10: 00111000000 -> 448 -> day word 11: 01111001111 -> 975 -> ketchup word 12: 10010001110 -> 1166 -> mushroom word 13: 01110111010 -> 954 -> jar word 14: 01110011111 -> 927 -> initial word 15: 11100110100 -> 1844 -> track word 16: 10001111110 -> 1150 -> more word 17: 00101100001 -> 353 -> club word 18: 00000001101 -> 13 -> accuse word 19: 01110110110 -> 950 -> item word 20: 01010011010 -> 666 -> fashion word 21: 00100000011 -> 259 -> call word 22: 00011001000 -> 200 -> boil word 23: 01011100100 -> 740 -> frame word 24: 10101010100 -> 1364 -> pride Seed Mnemonic: body apart paddle stamp among patrol prevent pair bacon day ketchup mushroom jar initial track more club accuse item fashion call boil frame pride

This is a normal practice, but I think the policy against the merit abuse has changed a bit the last few weeks. I got this message deleted /my comment in green/ I know it was for off-topic but I just archived the request for merit. A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted. Let's just archive it for future reference https://archive.fo/whtNN I really hope that my efforts will be taken into account and you will give me merit.
![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) If it was a maybe one or two months ago, this request above could be considered as a merit begging, now things changed. People leave only neutral comments. Reading theymos comment below leaves me with feelings that (small) abusers are no longer chased as before. Well, it appears that your source merit either wasn't upped to 250 a month ago like me, or you are just letting it expire. Theymos gave me instructions to try and do my best to distribute all of it. I'm doing the best that I can; yet have already had complaints. I really despise this statistic. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topsendban Now I am on the list that appears to point out merit abuse suspects. I was originally very honored to become a merit source. But now I feel that my reputation is at stake with every single merit that I am obligated to distribute. I know that I only have black trust at the moment. However, I keep checking my trust rating to make sure some DT member doesn't decide to red tag me because they feel that I am being "abusive" or derelict in my duty. If they complain about amounts, tell them to complain to me. It's best if sources try to exhaust their source allocations, even if it means giving posts higher amounts than is typical. If you have 150 source merit and you only see 3 merit-worthy posts in a month, then I'd rather you over-give each of them 50 merit than let the merit expire. That way there are more people capable of sending merit, and the "merit economy" is less top-down. If a DT member tags you for something stupid involving merit (ie. probably anything less than selling merit), then they're not going to be a DT member for much longer. Aside from that, if people complain about whether things deserve merit at all, then that's something to perhaps think about, but if you conclude that they're wrong, then that's that. You don't need to stress about it or defend yourself constantly. It's conceivable that someday you and I will end up disagreeing too much about this stuff and I'll remove your source status, but it's really not a big deal. The topsendban list is just a first indication of abuse, and many excellent people are on it. Your place on there acts as a sort of benchmark: eg. chandra12 has a similar score there, but whereas you are an extremely active merit-giver with a diverse selection of posts merited (most of which anyone would agree with), chandra12 only has two large merit sends. His behavior in comparison to yours while having a similar topsendban score is what creates a strong abuse impression. I appreciate the work of you and other sources who take it seriously!

I've checked their recent (unedited) posts: they do what many bounty spammers with many accounts do: they post their copied spam first, then edit it and make some changes. It's all business as usual in the billion dollar ICO spam industry. Yeah, seems like they post something just to "reserve" the post for later editing. I have reported them, I guess I'm gonna get a bad reports for those 3 as they are still unhandled.

I often make long lists of users, linking to their BPIP profile for quick review. Example: The first link works, the second doesn't, because the profile is archived. Request @Vod: Is it possible to create a link that always works, even if it's archived? I notice that some time ago but.. Just to note here, it's funny but the bug with the link to the archived users is actually a nice feature. If the newbie is banned (and archived) the link leads to the homepage, so I don't need to look more if the guy is banned ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)
The parser is down. The light around the (i) is gone. I'll update if I see it up again.
