3521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I have 1 BTC!!! Give me just one alt coin! for 3 months on: June 02, 2017, 02:42:45 AM
for 3 months: nothing.
because this is altcoin market you are talking about not bitcoin and in it anything can go wrong in 3 months, specially because we are in the after party of the recent pumps. and if anything the chance of a widespread dumping is much higher.
besides if you want big profit then take it daily or at least in shorter period of time. it may sound harder but it actually can be much safer. you invest and dump as fast as possible to take the profit and run Smiley
3522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Real life usage of bitcoin on: June 02, 2017, 02:36:05 AM
the fact that it is mostly used for speculation, and the fact that you have not yet seen or maybe looked for its usages doesn't mean it doesn't have them.

Growing and building your own business has never been so easy thanks to Bitcoin.

it is easier with bitcoin! and it actually will be a lot more profitable if you do it with bitcoin because there is a lot of room for new businesses that already exist with fiat but not with bitcoin.
take a look around you and you'll see a lot of them who are thriving:
- payment processors such as Bitpay
- gambling sites: just look at some of the signatures and how much those websites are earning!!!
- online shops: there are a lot of them selling all kinds of stuff, from digital small goods such as gift cards (Gyft.com) and games,... to bigger physical goods.
- exchanges
- web wallets that control the private keys such as XAPO and Coinbase
- bank like services that are issuing debit cards for bitcoin.
3523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum transaction not showing up in blockchain after two hours on: June 01, 2017, 03:39:05 AM
I am not using Coinbase to give you personal opinion but I have read multiple comments saying Coinbase is having some trouble with Ethereum at the moment so that may be it. it is either their node which is having some trouble or it may even be because they ran out of ethereum since everyone was buying it since the current pump is getting too big.

An exchange running out of something traded? I do not think that could be possible. If that happens then demand shoots up, and with no supply, the price of Ethereum will rocket possibly to 0.5 BTC/ETH.

They should suspend trading before that happens.

that may be. but that is not exactly how it will happen. because for the most part what we see on exchanges are virtual numbers, not real 1:1 coin. you see when you deposit your coins on an exchange they don't necessarily keep all the coins at hand to be able to pay right away if needs be. they do a lot of things with them to make more money and when the withdrawal requests exceeds the amount they keep ready they run out of coins to pay.
something similar to what banks do. if 1000 people deposit $1mil and then suddenly 900 of them want to withdraw the bank will run dry on 400th customer because they don't just put the $1mil in their safe to just hold for safekeeping.

but the orderbooks which are determining the price will still have "numbers" on them preventing the drastic changes in price.
and besides if price shoots up on one place, arbitrage will kick it down to normal and below levels.
3524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does ETC have any genuine upside potential? Or more like Litecoin? on: June 01, 2017, 03:28:40 AM
there are a lot of things wrong with these two.
- both have the same code, meaning both are bad platforms. but since nobody cares about what they are investing it, as far as your investment question goes this is not so relevant.

- ETH has the centralized support behind it with a lot of money at their disposal to advertise and also pump the coin. so it is a better short term investment during the pumps.

- ETC on the other hand is less centralized, but it will stay lower simply because the same ETH funds won't allow them to rise even if it means dumping their whole ICO coins on them. and that is a huge amount of tokens.

- the other thing to keep in mind is the mining situation. ETH will change to POS and that will cause ETC network which will remain POW to become very strong with all the miners switching to mine ETC and with a lot of money coming in it, ETC can have a good rally at that point.

- and on top of all that ETC is cheaper both to buy and for transaction fees and also the cost of smart contracts.
3525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING!!! Ethereum and Ethereum classic are SCAMS! on: June 01, 2017, 03:12:21 AM
lol, it seems like someone missed the chance to buy when it was low and wants to cause a dip to buy and make profit. Cheesy
don't worry my friend, I know you know you are lying, but know this: you are not lying! ethereum is shitcoin that is only worth a lot because of its pump. a massive scale operation that you can't yet imagine. with a lot of shady things going on in the background.

and besides who cares, it is giving me a lot of profit when it is getting pumped and I buy low and sell before the dump each time. so more money in my pocket and one more pumpcoin on top of other thousand pumpcoin doesn't really make any difference really.
3526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Split - Exchanges on: June 01, 2017, 02:57:49 AM
literary all of them!

an exchange service is a business looking to make more money. and they make that money mostly by people trading there. the more coins the add the more they can earn. adding something hot like a split of bitcoin is going to make them a lot of money.

we saw bitfinex list BU tokens even though the BU was obviously not going to happen.

p.s. don't keep any coins there though. they may add the market later but not grant the coins to anyone keeping coins there because they may screw up.
3527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens in future to your BTC if they are stored on hard wallet ? on: June 01, 2017, 02:52:43 AM
5-10 years is a very long time. many things can happen. it is a better idea to keep yourself updated about bitcoin regularly by listening to the news.
TryNinja is correct, however there is an if behind it. if nothing happens.
bitcoin is still in beta, and although this is highly unlikely but if a bug is found in the code or in the way private keys are used for example a weakness in ECDSA then you may need to take actions such as moving funds to the new set of keys of that time in the future.

3529  Economy / Economics / Re: The fluctuation in pricing.. on: May 31, 2017, 03:27:09 AM
bitcoin is still in the adoption phase so it is bound to fluctuate like this. if you look at other markets, for example in the stocks market the Apple shares has been very similar to bitcoin's fluctuation, when these are new and people invest in them there is bound to be big rises and falls like this. but over time as the market grows, the size of these fluctuations become smaller too. you can't see the same big rises we had back in 2013 now too.

and as someone else pointed out, if a store is worried about the price they can always sell bitcoin for fiat the same day to prevent any possible loss.
3530  Economy / Speculation / Re: How will BIP148 affect the bitcoin price? on: May 31, 2017, 03:13:33 AM
it depends on what is going to happen because of it!
if we see no support for it and it fails then nothing, we are back at square one and the same things.
if it gets some support and chain splits, there will be a big price fall on both sides and the total value will most probably take a big hit.
if it gets enough support and no chain split happens, we can finally get SegWit and it may finally put the idiotic fight over power to an end and price can rise big time after it.
3531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Future. on: May 31, 2017, 03:05:47 AM
I bought 50000 XRP with 0.35 USD, but now price is going down less than 0.25 USD. I am worried about whether I should buy more or hold.
Please give me your opinion.

neither, you should have sold a while ago!
in altcoin market when one of them gets pumped you buy in, wait till the pump reaches its max and dump it hard. otherwise you will lose money. and that is what has happened to you here. you missed your sell point. now you are experiencing the bubble pop and the dump which will continue specially since ETH is attracting a lot of the funds from all traders who are cashing out of other alts to get in that.
3532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So....Bitcoin the new alt Eth the main? on: May 31, 2017, 02:45:22 AM
actually I am kind of glad this happened. because finally, either I will be proven wrong and I'll gladly accept it, or we see that I am right and maybe people start looking at other things than just price and marketcap when it comes to comparing an altcoin to bitcoin.

let ethereum become bigger, more used.
let the number of transaction on its network increase to near bitcoin's level.
let ethereum network be "stress tested" for 3 years, something that we have been experiencing in bitcoin with the same name but it is really spam attack.
let the transaction fees grow to $0.75 (currently there) and then $1 and then $2 and so on.
let the size of their blockchain get extremely big and centralizes the nodes
let the mining of it become big and let China get in on it and start their farms with new more efficient equipments.
let another DAO scam and another roll back hard fork and a chain split happen.

and lots more, and then lets see how they will do in real world not just on exchanges and on paper with some numbers showing bigger marketcap because they simply have 6 times more the supply of bitcoin but not even half its circulating supply or distribution.
3533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best website to generate a paper wallet ? on: May 30, 2017, 04:47:22 AM
which website would you recommend if you want to generate a BTC adress + private key only ?
https://www.bitaddress.org

i've used that website before, but how safe is it actually ?

if you just want to generate a paper wallet containing a private key and don't like bitaddress (which is safe by the way) then use any bitcoin wallet that you like!
bitcoin core, Armory, Electrum, Multibit, .... all of these will make a series of addresses + private keys for you, then just use one of them as your paper wallet.
3534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exceeding Bitcoin on: May 30, 2017, 04:24:02 AM
If Bitcoin can't fix the scaling issue then the future of cryptocurrency will be something else that exceeds bitcoin. Are there any ICO's that we should get excited about as a possible bitcoin replacement? I've read the white papers on minexcoin and while skeptical of the numbers, it seems like a forward thinking idea. Also any idea where to find information on new and upcoming projects?

I've got two things to tell you:
1. an altcoin with an ICO will never even be able to come close to bitcoin, let alone exceed it. you forgot that the ICO is there for the developer to make a quick amount of free money.

2. have you even checked the numerous issues that altcoins have with scaling? I really doubt it. I suggest doing some research in this matter and see that they have even more problems that will make you beg for the problems of bitcoin Smiley
but people usually compare bitcoin, a massively used cryptocurrency with about 350,000 transactions each day with an altcoin with barely 1,000 transaction per day and think that altcoin doesn't have bitcoin's scaling issues.
3535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICOs in this year less rewarding than the ones held in the last year? on: May 30, 2017, 04:14:31 AM
@Pursuer. That is very true. But there has to be some new projects that try to bring something valuable to the cryptospace. Maybe the see the ICO as their best chance of getting the funds to start their project.

I disagree.
lets say you start a new altcoin. if you really believe in yourself and think it is a good project then invest in it yourself. start mining it from block 1 like the rest of us and hold it. if the project is indeed good you will make a fortune easily, look at Satoshi Nakamoto's fortune!

besides that way you will remain motivated to make the project better because you have invested in it. an ICO means they get free money for doing nothing. then they release some crap and cash out that money. rinse and repeat.

and a real programmer is earning money from his real world job and doesn't need the ICO headache and the ICO money to start the project.
3536  Economy / Speculation / Re: If China opens BTC withdrawals - would that mean a pump or a dump? on: May 30, 2017, 04:06:41 AM
I don't get it! why do people even assume there is the smallest possibility of a dump?!!
a business was out of business for some time, now it is reopening, that means people using that business is going to come back and start using it again.
in this case the Chinese, the trading lover Chinese, have been going through other channels to quench their thirst for trading bitcoin for the past few months, mostly on other exchanges and on localbitcoins, now their biggest exchanges are coming back. of course they will come back to them and start their trading there.
3537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: Russia Adopting Bitcoin. Price Explosion Imminent!! on: May 30, 2017, 03:51:44 AM
Russia had its effect on the bitcoin price when they finally said they are thinking about legalizing bitcoin after many years. the news like this is not going to change much about price, maybe a little nudge but nothing major. but these types of things will help bitcoin in the long run. a payment processor accepting bitcoin will attract more users by introducing bitcoin to them and that is the long term adoption.
3538  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin charts == Déjà vu on: May 29, 2017, 03:47:10 AM
These giant pumps and dumps mean nothing when you invest so long ago that your money is triple, or 5x it's original value.

I was actually thinking about this the other day, and I mostly bought coins back in $200-$220 and now price is $2000-$2200 and that is 10x rise!
the funny part is that the same comments by people like talks_cheep and the legendary kuwkduck has always been the same about blood in street and the dip continuation down to $50, not it is $500 and in a couple of years it will probably be $5000 Tongue
3539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Are Chinese exchanges still significant? on: May 29, 2017, 03:29:04 AM
no people are silent because you haven't checked the Chinese exchanges before making this topic. if you do check them you will see that the biggest ones only have bitcoin and litecoin listed. they don't even have any altcoin for trading apart from their small exchanges!

and also Chinese have always been significant but not the way it was advertised. people imagined they have full control over everything and if they wish they could kill bitcoin in an instant and if they wished they could pump it to 10 million dollar!

but in reality, Chinese market has always been a big market because of the large population of China and the fact that many of them are into trading. but they are just one market in the whole world.
do then have an effect? of course they do.
is it as big as people thing? not at all.

the big 3 only having BTC and LTC:
here is Huobi: https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/huobi/
OkCoin: https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/okcoin-cn/
BTCC: https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/btcc/
3540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How long will this altcoin recession will remain....? on: May 29, 2017, 03:10:27 AM
This massive dump of btc leads to the massive market down.
How long will this remain and market will be normal. Any idea....?

no it has nothing to do with the bitcoin price drop, that was a correction because of the fast FOMO rise in bitcoin.
the massive dump in altcoin was because the altcoins are pump and dump! and there is no such thing as normal when it comes to altcoins. most of them will continue to fall if they haven't already and others will have some bounce backs.

the worst part is when the whales stop dumping and wait for the orderbooks to get filled with some buy orders and as soon as they reach an acceptable resistance they dump on them to be able to sell at a high price without losing much.

where I live here, in the newspaper I read an article last week about our Central Bank stating they do not support cryptocurrency and if anything goes wrong, don't come blame them.

your country is so late. or maybe you haven't read this before. but every country has issued warnings like this. and it is always about bitcoin, they don't even care enough to mention an altoicn Smiley and for a good reason since altcoins aren't really being traded with fiat despite some of them having the market.

and the warning is just telling people about the "volatility".
