2581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can I make much money mining Bitcoins? on: January 15, 2018, 08:42:27 AM
I heard that we can make much money by mining Bitcoins before, but now we cant anymore. Why?

I don't think it is quite true.

it is true that a couple of years ago (2010-2012 for example) you could mine bitcoin with your PC and when you found a block and got the reward or share of the reward because you were in a pool, that bitcoin was worth so little. for example $10-$20,...
but now if you get the reward or part of it, that bitcoin is worth $13000+

so saying before it was profitable and now it isn't is a little misleading. it still costs electricity but you will earn a lot more and if you hold part of it, price may go even higher and that can worth a lot more.
2582  Economy / Speculation / Re: 9 Reasons Bitcoin Could Hit $100,000 Or More on: January 15, 2018, 08:33:08 AM
it will all come down to 1 thing and 1 thing only: use cases.

so far bitcoin has been a very good currency in the past 9 years. high security network, instant transactions, fast confirmations and cheap fees have been the attributes that helped the adoption of it as a currency by the merchants and different services. and if in the future we can keep these attributes and help with the more adoption as a currency it can grow a lot more than $100k. otherwise all the rest such as network effect and media exposure, ... are of secondary importance.
2583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List of central banks considering their own crypto on: January 15, 2018, 08:26:29 AM
it would have been so much better if you added some sort of reference for these, preferably include the name of the coin too. for example (your list is lacking this by the way) India has started working on their own coin called "Lakshmi".

Russia with CryptoRuble

With UK being such a crypto-friendly country, I'm surprised the Bank of England, isn't on the list. Why is this?

being crypto-friendly doesn't necessarily mean they are going to create a centralized altcoin.

No worries, it will only become a requirement either never, or some time after Bitcoin Core supports it in a new version.
encouraging people to use SegWit is good but using it should always be optional. it was opt-in after all.
2585  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How Do You Secure Your profits? on: January 13, 2018, 01:44:39 PM
it depends on the altcoin that I have invested in, but I set a percentage profit in mind and based on that I set a price in mind that I will place my sell orders ahead of time. I choose this price wisely while trying to not be affected by emotions such as greed.

for example I sell most coins after 15% profit whenever I do a day-trading thing. this percentage has been good for me most of the times but sometimes depending on the coin and the time I get in I set it at smaller or bigger amounts.
then I make sure I dump at that price be cause I know that if I don't and price goes there and comes back I will regret it and lose money. it is always best to take a small profit instead of nothing at all.
2586  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will help bitcoin reach 20k again? on: January 13, 2018, 01:21:49 PM
Which updates in the coming months etc. will help bitcoin to recover to 20k again?
I seriously believe that the ban rumors of some countries are the major reason why bitcoin price remains uncertainty and it will take positive news about this banning for bitcoin to turn green and break the last high of $20,000. The few things that can also contribute is for some of the exchangers that has suspend new accounts to reopen it as this we bring new traders into the market.

the bitcoin ban FUD is not known to be affecting bitcoin price for long or big. the biggest news was the Chinese bitcoin ban FUD which only lasted about a week. and although we currently are within the same amount of time but I think the biggest reasons are still the rise itself which required a correction time like this and also the unacceptably high transaction fees.

with that said there has been a drop in number of transactions in mempool although the size is still the same so I think they have at least slowed down the spam attack for now.
2587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Bitcoin discussion .... on: January 13, 2018, 12:57:34 PM
these people are only caring about their own benefits so when the say they don't believe in bitcoin it is either the fact that they have found it threatening or they may have been wanting to invest in it. and bitcoin market being small means someone like Warren Buffet can not easily invest his millions in without changing the price drastically so he spreads FUD to keep the price down. same  with the JP Morgan guy we found out they bought bitcoin!!! I don't know when we find out Warren has also bought bitcoin Wink
2588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: usa police will sell bitcoins for billiards of usd so bitcoin will be killed to on: January 13, 2018, 12:39:00 PM
every time there is an auction some random people say the same thing, of course usually they say price will drop but OP went all out with his FUD and said bitcoin will be killed LOL.
and the funny thing is that price has never even moved because of this type news to this date whereas technically speaking a news like this can cause a dip of small size like 5%-10% but so far it has never happened.

and it is for a good reason too. these coins are not auctioned to be sold on the exchanges. and it is not small amounts. it is a large amount of bitcoin bought by only one person and that one person should be brain dead to even try and sell what he has just bought off the market on the market to crash his investment.
2589  Other / Archival / Re: KFC Canada accepts bitcoin on: January 13, 2018, 12:30:26 PM
I checked this news a little more ever since yesterday I posted here, the owner of KFC Canada not only adopted bitcoin in his business but also he is a  true believer in bitcoin. check out his tweets and see for yourself.
there was a funny one about altcoins where he said "buy the real recipe not the alternative-recipe". Cheesy

I got my answer though. I found it a little strange that some business adopts bitcoin as payment while fees are high, it seems like he really believes in bitcoin.
2590  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a chance that ALTCOIN will Replace Bitcoin In Future? on: January 13, 2018, 12:26:38 PM
not the current existing altcoins, no. but it is possible for bitcoin to be replaced by another alternative cryptocurrency that can improve the functionality without losing any of the advantages that bitcoin has. for example it should be able to address the scaling issue while keep things easier to be decentralized.

sometimes they look like they have fixed it though. but when you check them out you can see that they are either not solving anything or if they did they only improved upon it while losing a lot in the process for example making things centralized instead.
2591  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Pump and Dumps? Has anyone been a part of this? Thoughts? on: January 12, 2018, 09:13:43 AM
pump groups like this exist and people sometimes make profit from these groups too. but that doesn't change they fact that they are scams.

a pump group unlike its name, is when someone buys some coins when the price is stable and low and while nobody is paying any attention. then he places some sell orders at higher prices and after that he tells a lot of idiots who are following him to buy that coin. when they buy he makes profit. of course on the way up some of those idiots make some small profit since there are more idiots in the group.

but the person who makes real profit and consistently is the scammer who is running things and calls it "signal".
2592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which coin do you think is best for gambling? on: January 12, 2018, 09:08:34 AM
I think it depends on what you think you can do with gambling. for example if your goal is to make profit on the coins you have then bitcoin is usually the option here. or by extension the coins that you would like to make profit on. for me since it has always been bitcoin, I also choose bitcoin for gambling.

but if you are just looking for a way to play something as cheap as possible with a coin that is also cheap and you have a lot of then coins like Doge are the option.
I usually choose Doge myself too because it is cheap and easy to acquire. there was a couple of faucets that used to pay a decent amount of it which I used to play dice with.
2593  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will help bitcoin reach 20k again? on: January 12, 2018, 08:44:00 AM
time and only time.
time for everyone to accumulate enough bitcoin for the next round of rallies to come. that is how the different market stages work. rise > correction > (possible drops) > accumulation > rise

Which updates in the coming months etc. will help bitcoin to recover to 20k again?

I suppose the news about mempool being empty again and transaction fees going back down is the best trigger for a big bull market.
2594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which mining would you suggest, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, or another? Which o on: January 12, 2018, 08:17:32 AM
it doesn't matter which, you should calculate to see which one is more profitable for you.
consider the following:

1. the initial investment
which included buying equipment and ease of buying them. for example you may not be able to find the best/latest ASIC miner fast and cheap enough considering shipping, etc. but you can find any GPU that you want in the market much easier.
also consider the total price you have to pay.

2. Electricity cost.
this is what will eat through your profit. you need to have a cheap electricity in order for mining to be profitable and worth doing.

3. price fluctuations.
for example if you have been mining bitcoin in the past couple of years any bitcoin you gained is now worth a lot more. imagine you mining 1 year ago, each bitcoin was $900-$1000 and now it is worth $13000

4. options
with GPU mining you have more options and you can switch from one shitcoin to another shitcoin to mine when they are pumping and becoming more profitable temporarily. with ASIC and mining bitcoin your options are a little more limited.
2595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you are weak get the hell out of Cryptocurrency. on: January 12, 2018, 08:10:15 AM
you have to stop worrying about FUD and start loving it like I did, because FUD is not going anywhere and the weak hands will also stay with us forever and at times their numbers even grow bigger like in the last 2 months of 2017 and how they were most of the buyers at that time who were FOMO buying bitcoin because they felt left out.

and yes weak hands work two ways. they both cause drastic drops and big rises alike. they are the irrational investors in the market not just dumpers.
2596  Other / Archival / Re: KFC Canada accepts bitcoin on: January 12, 2018, 08:01:30 AM
well the adoption of bitcoin has been happening in a lot of places online or offline by a wide variety of merchants and services for a very long time. specially last year that bitcoin's popularity grow a lot and most of the FUDs about bitcoin went down the drain when Japan mass adopted bitcoin.

but sadly in the past couple of months it has become impossible to use bitcoin for any kind of payment and that has effectively put an stop to this adoption. I am surprised to see this here because of it. hopefully we can soon get back on track and start seeing some lower fees before the adoption stops completely or they drop it.
2597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitocin will be a BitPaper Money? on: January 11, 2018, 08:48:09 AM
I can't imagine that because having bitcoin on "paper note form" means going off-chain and offline and that is impossible to do with bitcoin. because it needs a private key and the person creating those "notes" will also always have the keys with him and unless you spend them on-chain you can never be sure if he spends it at some point or not.

not to mention how that will centralize things because you need to trust an entity that is printing those "bitcoin paper notes" otherwise it is worthless if anyone could create them.
2598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question/Poll - Will you invest 0.01 BTC to win 100 BTC? on: January 11, 2018, 08:16:34 AM
first of all this is a lottery and lotteries don't have that many people interested in them specially with such a high price for buying the "tickets" which is 130-150 USD based on bitcoin price at that moment. which means even less people will be interested in it.

secondly making a lottery to a provably fair thing is nearly impossible in my opinion. you can add a provably fair system and pick the winner in a fair fashion but that doesn't guarantee fairness of the lottery itself. you may have gotten 1000 players but had 14000 fake entries yourself (the total of 15000). nothing about such system is fair.
2599  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will BTC's dominance of crypto market cap drop below 50%? on: January 11, 2018, 08:04:09 AM
Except Dogecoin, RaiBlocks and several other coins that have very small or no fees. The average Dogecoin transaction fee is 1.1 DOGE.

the fees in coins that are similar to bitcoin are based on supply and demand. the supply is the block space and the demand is the number of transactions that want to get that space.
in Doge for example the blocks are empty which means there is no competition to get in that block space average transaction per block is 10!

and if this changes in the future and it gains more usage, the competition will start and fees will go up. as it has gone up in ethereum which you think has superior technology!
2600  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "I regret" calling bitcoin a fraud. on: January 11, 2018, 07:56:29 AM
haha, this was a pretty funny thing that came out 2 or maybe 3 days ago. and I was wondering why nobody has said anything about it on bitcointalk.

this guy is turning into a clown these days. he doesn't even know what he wants apparently. or maybe he is just changing his mind with each bitcoin swing. the worst part is that he keeps saying I don't want to talk about bitcoin then he talks about it at length!

The clock is ticking though, as governments are likely to have their own digital coins ready in the next 12-18 months.

Will decentralization win out or will big brother win out?

the clock is ticking for JP Morgan that their livelihood depends on US dollar.
and centralized coins have no place in a decentralized world even if they are created and gain any traction.
