Any moderator comments or are we just waiting for a verification?

I am waiting for... (bluefirecorp: spammers to raise Activity)

What does he mean when he says he's waiting for spammers to raise activity?  It seems like some sort of absurdist poetry.
3542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ask Amazon for Bitcoin Payments on: July 01, 2014, 04:54:32 AM
No no no no - too big, too soon.

You're not thinking clearly. I'm very bearish about the future of bitcoin, but this would be a really good thing for bitcoin. Amazon isn't just a giant online marketplace, it also has huge cloud resources and enough IT horsepower to render needing dozens of other exchanges pretty moot.

What exactly would Amazon do with the Bitcoins? They can't pay their employees or maintain their servers with it. Amazon would be the only major store taking Bitcoins. They would become bloated and Bitcoin would be worthless. Rick is right, it is too big and too soon. Economies need to cycle money and Amazon wouldn't have anywhere to put the Bitcoins after they have been paid.
Overstock accepts bitcoin and they keep 10% of bitcoin related profits on their books

Really, 10%?  That's a pretty big position for a retail company who's presumably not into currency speculation.  Obviously as a member of the bitcoin community, I hope they're making the right move.  Still it's a surprise.  Do you happen to have a link to an articule dicussing them keeping 10% of their bitcoins in bitcoins?
3543  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying BTC with credit card? on: July 01, 2014, 04:52:43 AM
You can use virwox

I've used up $2000 in my paypal credit card to buy bitcoin with it.

You use the credit card to buy linden dollars, then convert it to bitcoin. Then send the bitcoin to wherever.

There are daily limits to prevent people from charging back virwox but it gets lifted after 10 days, 30 days, and 60 days.

They're safe and legit and fast after they trust you (48 hours after account is verified).

I've also heard of many folks using virwox.  I think there's a pretty big fee but I'm thinking that's par for the course if you want to use a credit card.

So celebrate this, what are we calling it? Victory? This 'victory' for bitcoin, but know that it is a victory that can, and will, bite some of you in the ass.

Why is it going to 'bite some of us in the ass'.  I've booked a hotel with expedia in the past and didn't have a problem.  I used a visa card.  Next time I use expedia I may get to pay with BTC.  I think that would be wonderfully convenient.  Can you be a little more clear?

I guess the ability to chargeback on your card is what he meant. Bitcoin transactions are irreversible but I guess they will still issue refunds.

Aha, yes that seems like it might be what was meant.  However, if I was negotiating in good faith with expedia and they owed me a refund, I'm sure they can find some way to do it (either by sending my BTC back or by generating a payment in fiat).
Companies like expedia have their reputation on the line so they have an incentive to issue a refund when one is due as people would not do business with them if they have this kind of reputation

Yes, Danny Elfman with a David Spade face, I couldn't agree more.  For large, well established companies, reputation is crucial.

Best of luck to you.

I have my btc info in a safety deposit box and I also gave it to somebody I can trust with my life.  I recently added my Seals info.  I have money on 3 other poker sites as well as an alt coin and after replying to you I realize that I should add that info now.  This is not only for my benefit but if when something happens to me those i love can access it.

Good point, I never thought about the value of some website credentials.  However, for me, I just simply refuse to keep any balances in any websites.  I remember, for example when TradeFortress was running that inputs.io site.  I was getting free btc on coinchat and was forced to cash out to inputs.io.  Thank god i didn't keep my btc in inputs.io as we all know what happened there.  I'm not saying the same thing will happen with seals, I'm just saying I don't want to get bit in the ass if it does.

I love you seals.
3546  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Using the heat from bitcoin servers... on: June 30, 2014, 09:49:20 PM
Hi ALL!

I am new to the forum.

I have a wood drying kiln room that I pay large amounts of electricity to generate heat to help dry the wood.

I want to change this practice by installing a bitcoin server room right next to it and piping the heat into my kiln.

I have a 11 feet long by 7 feet wide by 6 feet tall room to use.  Can someone please link me to what will fit in this space and how many? Smiley  Are there any threads on what the most recent machines are?  And how fast of internet connection do I need? I only have a cellular data 3G internet connection on the farm.

Thanks,
tb

I also commend you on the idea to use the heat for something rather than just bleed it off.  This is the kind of engineering thought that our world needs.  As far as very specifics, I can't give them to you, just want to commend you.  I can say that I think that 11 by 7 by 6 is plenty of space for probably as many miners as you care to afford.  Also, I think that a cellular 3g connection won't be too bad, the amount of data you have to send and receive shouldn't be too much.  However, my answers are obviously to general.

Hey, the code has been open source since August/Sep 2013 Smiley

Fair enough, I just found out about it when I saw the link gweedo placed in the thread, then I noticed it in your sig.  A most honorable decision, IMHO.

anyone can ask me how to reset my password?

If you have your password just logon to the website.

If you lost your password email them from your registered email.

If you lost your pw and didn't provide your email then email them and explain the situation.

Which one is it?

The best part of this is that nioc did, literally, ask feryjhie how to reset his password.  Wonderful!

*update*
The coin will have the correct sum containing a q and not a g

Groovy!  Glad there's a concrete positive outcome from our discussion yesterday.  If you ever want to send me a christmas present, I think I know just what I'd like Smiley  (j/k)

How to install this in Ubuntu

I guess this is a question.

Anyway, you don't have to "install" it, just run it from a shell.

Download, unpack, run.  Try to be a little more specific if you're having trouble.
3552  Other / Meta / Re: Selling pirated / illegal software licenses. on: June 30, 2014, 02:08:33 AM
So, I don't get it.  The OP is mad that someone is selling cracked microsoft stuff on the internet...

Jeez, if I wanted cracked microsoft products, I think I'd just crack them myself or download from thepiratebay or something.  Seems to me that people who are paying money for stolen windoze software are crazy.  Every pc I ever bought comes with windoze whether i want it or not.  I always have to delete a copy of windows before i can put a proper os on.  Who would pay for a stolen copy of a product that's so proliferant you can even get a computer without accidentally having a valid copy.

I totally don't get it.

PLEASE REPLY MT EMAIL SIR Cry Cry

My email : orryde@yahoo.com

thank you

Pretty awkward to put your email in a public thread and ask for a private reply.  I kinda think you're going to be getting more replies than you wanted and from more accounts than you might have wished but oh well.  Anyway, if you want to have a public discussion about your issue, why not say what the issue is.  If you just want to bump attention to your email, maybe use a private message.

I doubt you'll find anyone to take you up on this deal unless there's some sort of collateral you can provide to an escrow.  Do you have any collateral to offer?

Clearly you are in a mood today to show everyone just how wrong I am, how smart you are, how my coin doesn't make any sense and how you proved it.
So congrats, I had the wrong understanding of the meaning of this sum (which I previously stated correct me if I'm wrong and that it was my understanding to my educational level as this is not my area of studies). You obviously are more educated in this area than I am.
The thing is, I still like the coin, the design, and will be moving forward with it.

Oh and thank you for pointing out the fact that these coins will be minted with an error. I guess now just like Casascius I have my own error coin (unintentionally) and both were do to incorrect or lack of letters. Weird how we are all human and all make mistakes huh?

Wink

Well, I'd characterize my mood as inquisitive as to the reference of this sum on your nice-looking silver coins.  In trying to find out more, I'd characterize your response as defensive.  Because I simply wanted to get to the bottom of it, I went and read the paper.  I hope my clarification helped.  Cheers.

I did go back and read it and it is more representative of someone trying to double spend or stop a spend of their own transaction. When I first read it I mistook attacker as a reference to 51%

I am defensive. After I repeatedly stated it was appealing to me and that's why I used it. And I also stated that it was my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong). Why I'm defensive is instead of coming on here and actually being helpful and politely correcting, you did so in a very condescending way which negates any actual helpfulness that you're trying to provide.

So thank you for the correction, I do appreciate having a better understanding. Also thank you for pointing out the error. I actually emailed the mint and hope they haven't gotten that far. Not only that but the drawing I sent them it actually had a q not a g so hopefully they will make a new die and not charge me. Next time try not to be so condescending an people won't be so defensive.

Sounds like we achieved a good outcome even if emotions almost got in the way.  BTW, I followed this thread because I like you're product.  I'm not out to get you.   Personally, I can't afford one at the moment, but if I could, I'd probably try to get one of these with the sum on it, mainly to memorialize this interesting discussion and the fact that I learned something from it.

Fucking hillbilly americans.

This is an internet forum and thus international. Insulting an entire nation is pretty stupid.

Sure , there are many arrogant "Ugly Americans" but while all hillbillies may be Americans, not all Americans are hillbillies.

Where are you from?

By the way, there are also good looking hillbillies.  Just sayin' ...

You guys should make a table where you have to go all-in every time. You could just make heads up tables that could do this or triples.

I'm not sure that would still qualify as poker.  Maybe it would, but it seems like the ability to fold or not call is crucial to the definition of the game.
3559  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CoinRPG! A Bitcoin RPG Game! on: June 29, 2014, 08:43:46 PM
Funny that you say you'll sell it for no more than $5000.  Does that mean if someone offers you 6000$ you're gonna say "no, sorry"?  Also, why wouldn't you accept payment in bitcoin?  You expect someone on here to use paypal?  Seems contradictory to the spirit of this community to me.  Finally, who is gonna pay 5000$ for code that they haven't seen developed for a free game engine.  Seems extrodinarily overpriced to me, just my opinion though.

That doesn't even make sense, why would anyone offer $6000 if I'm stating the least I will sell it for is $5,000 (I typed "No More", is simply a Typo now Corrected, I'm sure everyone understood what I mean).... Also, I never said I wouldnt accept payment in Bitcoin, if someone contacted me and discussed paying in Bitcoin, i'd be OK with that but PayPal is my prefered method as it prevents me from having to convert Bitcoin to Cash, so why not just pay directly in cash if possible. Regarding the Price, actually $5000 is very cheap, in comparison to what this project is really worth around $10,000+. It's clear you don't really understand what it takes to develop a stable multiplayer game with Player vs Player vs Enemy AI, plus a Storage System to keep track of Inventory and Scores. Anyone with real game development experience will tell you that this is not overpriced at all... actually i'm selling it for 50% off it's real value. Anyhow moving on... thanks for your input anyway.

CoinRPG is still for SALE if anyone is interested, please contact me at @coinprg.com

Thanks,

I agree that I don't understand the value of your non-open source code. I suppose that you have some concrete way to determine that it's worth 10K and so you suggest you're selling at such a discount.  Anyway, you're the one who said "no more than 5000K", I was just asking what you meant by that.  I agree that it didn't seem to make sense.
3560  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are the fucking silk road coins sold ? on: June 29, 2014, 08:41:09 PM
When the government auctions off assets in a closed auction, do they disclose the final results? I think we may all be waiting around for news, when there will be none.

Just watch the blockchain to see about transer of the coins.  Once the coins start going out from the slik road addy, then you know they got sold and delivered even if you don't know who bought them.

Sure, we can see when the coins move. But that tells us nothing about the "results" -- people want to know what price they went for, since apparently they think the exchange markets will quickly head to that price. I'm not convinced on that point, anyway.

Thanks now I understand the point of the inquiry.  I was confused (again!) Smiley
