3561  Economy / Reputation / Do these users belong on DT2? on: January 16, 2021, 11:03:23 PM
After taking an inspection of Loyce's most recent DT list for the first time in a year or so, I noticed that we're now up to 441 DT members (it was actually at 486 last month). This seems like a lot, but a significant portion of them are inactive accounts and haven't contributed for years. Others have only ever left 1-2 ratings.

We all have different opinions when it comes to "quality control" issue as its applied to trust ratings, but I was hoping to get some input on whether DTs would include, exclude (or neither) the following accounts, just to get a general opinion of what they think standards should be for DT inclusion.

I'm not accusing anybody of anything or trying to start a fight, just trying to gather opinions.

Would you include the following users in your trust list?

I think these are worth debate, but probably OK:

icon73
pasrical
btcapollo
fyoung55

These don't have a trust list and have left 2 or less ratings:

Iwtym
daraghna

Trust list with 1 inclusion, 1 trust rating:

coinminerdotcom

Again, just looking for opinions, no flames are necessary.
3562  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Vareole is a scammer on: January 16, 2021, 10:47:28 PM
I've also supported the flag. I held out hope that it wasn't Vareole communicating with the OP, but he admitted that it was, and now it looks bad. Vareole was helpful in outing scammers but of course that doesn't necessarily mean that he's not a scammer himself. A shame.
3563  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 16, 2021, 12:51:58 AM
I watched all six games but I really only liked the ones that I won. The other two were severely disappointing, how could they throw the game just because they knew I bet on them. How dare they.

Ty's been quiet, wonder who he likes this weekend.

I'm gonna be rooting for the Rams but in no way betting on them.

Baltimore/Buffalo will be the most exciting game IMO... looking forward to that one as well.

I don't know what to make of the spread on the Chiefs/Browns game; I think its probably a little high but it doesn't attract my money.

For a bet I find Bucs/Saints to be the most interesting game. I don't know how I'm going to play it yet but I like the idea of only betting on the last game so I don't sulk through the remaining games of the weekend.
3564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Dying on: January 15, 2021, 07:48:03 AM
The real problem is the hoarding of coins, because you need on-chain transactions to happen to generate miners fees for the miners. Remember at one point in the future, Block rewards will stop and miners fees will replace Block rewards... so if there are not enough miners fees to replace the Block reward... then miners will stop mining.  Roll Eyes

With record-high hash rates being set all the time, I don't think the's any danger of miners slowing down or losing revenue. Mining is still incredibly lucrative and IMO the amount of energy thrown at mining is wasteful. However, its set by market forces beyond anyone's control.

The miners will never stop mining, even as rewards approach zero. Even if its just Satoshi booting up his desktop from 2010 and solo mining to keep the network alive after society has collapsed, mining will never stop completely.
3565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Dying on: January 15, 2021, 05:56:06 AM
Sure, bitcoin being used more as a currency would be great, but that's just how markets work. People will use it as a currency, if they actually think it's worth giving up a small portion of their holdings for a payment. And especially right now when prices are rising, it simply doesn't make that much sense for some people to use it. But while people are not that much using it as a currency right now, people sure are taking advantage of it's scarcity. It's still a huge win in my book.

So long as Filipinos are getting paid to Coins.ph addresses, bitcoin remains a currency for at least hundreds of thousands of people, as they make sending it and converting it within their system pretty seamless... I think wallets that service customers in countries whose governments have a similar hands-off approach to crypto regulation also remain unaffected; of course we are now relying on a 3rd party. But there are some wholly capable companies out there, and so long as the cost of moving money through them remains lower than conventional systems, bitcoin will remain a viable currency for millions of people around the world.

Where's Lambie?

Tulsi Gabbard was in a local commercial just now and she was looking pretty good.

She'll still look good in 4 years; maybe by then some crazy shit will have happened and she'll be elected as the hottest president ever. We can only hope.

I'd also settle for AOC.

Oh yeah, I said it. It will happen eventually so prepare your retented anuses.
3567  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust Violation Apology on: January 15, 2021, 02:07:17 AM
That is unconscionable and indefensible.  Stop it.

That's funny. That's exactly how I feel about your take on the subject. I think you are being intellectually dishonest for continuing to claim otherwise. Even removing the tons of evidence I have provided, you're still left with evidence suggested by hilariousandco about them using the exact same words while writing reports. And then you've also completely removed the aspect of common sense.

I don't care what kind of deal Lauda had with Quickseller to pretend they're not the same person. You should have just let Lauda's words on the subject speak for themselves instead of trying to re-interpret their legacy.

That's my final opinion on the subject.
3568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Dying on: January 14, 2021, 08:53:35 AM
So long as the mempool is crowded and fees are high, bitcoin isn't dying. Lack of usage is what kills things. I do agree with your underlying sentiment that more emphasis should be placed on using BTC as a currency and not an investment.

Eventually, the price will level out and it will become a investment that is as boring as gold.

I understand what you're saying here but do you really believe that bitcoin can be as boring as gold? I think bitcoin will always be more interesting as it is dynamic and capable of a lot of things gold isn't. As far as price volatility is concerned, gold has a several thousand year head start... not sure BTC will ever be as stable in price.
3569  Other / Meta / Re: Meriting a user who just merited you on: January 14, 2021, 02:11:25 AM
I don't do it for others, but there are a handful of people that are compelled to send me a merit after I send them -- in all likelihood they think they are performing a common courtesy.

There was something Suchmoon said about sending out merits, he said merit a good post not user,.

That user would have to unblock the 95% of the Forum and actually be less selective in the handful of favourites they merits on a regular basis before such a comment from them could be taken to be creditable...

suchmoon has given out more merits to more forum members than anybody else on the forum:

#1 in Sent and Circle... you literally won't find a more open-minded merit-giver on the forum.
3570  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by user vareole on: January 14, 2021, 12:09:16 AM
He also scammed me. I lost 110€.  Sad
You can see our chat here: https://imgur.com/a/xJBZhEx

He changed the message with the address after I sent him the money (you can see this by the pencil besides the message).
His excuse that he sent me a bitcoin address is totally wrong. I know how a bitcoin address looks like and my wallet wouldn't let me send eth to a btc address.

Please flag him. He will scam a lot more people if you don't do it.

@MODS: Could you at least convert his threads to non self managed ones? So we can warn people from him.
No he always locks his threads, so no one can write something bad about him.

Did this happen today, or yesterday?
3571  Economy / Reputation / Re: Tigerheart3026 blackmailing me for rejecting his video in bounty campaign. on: January 13, 2021, 09:29:45 PM
They paid good money for that account and are frustrated it hasn't been paying off.

The original account owner was Filipino:

Salamat po sa information, kahit papaano na kapulot po ko ng mga idea na pwede ko po magamit, baguhan palang po kase ako at nasa matindi pag aaral kung paano ko po palalaguin at irarank up ang aking account...salamat po!!😉😉

Then at some point in 2018, probably April or May, it becomes owned by a Bengali:

Our service of Bounty Management is going 50% Less for Boishakh

I'm leaning towards thinking the same person owns it now as they are still using the same Telegram account.

Like The Pharmacist I don't see a problem with leaving this guy a red tag because of what he did to you, but its up to you of course.
3572  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 12, 2021, 11:33:10 PM
On an unrelated note, what happened to realr0ach?
Does he still post here?

Would like to know his thoughts on the current bull run  Grin

Who gives a shit what happened to that cockroach.

I'd like to know what happened to V8.

Thought he rebranded to that bitunlocker dude?

Roach got offered a job fudding stocks to keep prices low for post-covid crash buyers, so he had to take it up as it was more lucrative than working here. Unfortunately he died at the hands of literal neo-nazis, who had mistaken him for a government plant and bludgeoned him to death with his own 40 lb bars of silver.
3573  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: [ANN] MinerFarm - Virtual Mining Game for Real Bitcoin on: January 12, 2021, 10:06:51 PM
Was anybody ever able to trace aliser?

He stole 0.25BTC from me and I would very much like to get legal involved in getting my money back.

Thanks

I followed this thread for a long time. Not surprised by the way things turned out.

Here's the interesting thing: aliser is still receiving payouts from freebitco.in at an old address of his:

Maksat hareket olsun böyle şeyleri görmek güzel forumda.

16m52dQeB5wSSuumeTQ6dGAAsYvargKKyP

To find the biggest one you'll have to do some blockchain analysis on our 2 hot wallets. 3LaNNTg87XjTtXAqs55WV5DyWASEZizCXZ and 329koRvovTyNnd4ADrpR2uJHzXxfvKxta5

Here's the most recent one, sent Dec. 14:

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/c0ab541977cdd3206ccfc2d97d4037c5f93c7a68b73c8b97f595f37232fbef1e

So if I were a victim I would try to stop this guy by contacting freebitco.in and letting them know what's up. His payouts are small but there's a chance they might be able to help identify him.
3574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shill me your altcoin. on: January 12, 2021, 09:18:54 PM
BNB has always been an attractive coin, even when it was just a token. It's done better than most alts, ever, and while the actual usefulness of Binance Chain is debatable it maintains some value because of the credibility of the brand behind it...

TBH I sank a bunch of money in a poorly-performing alt, it having been on my radar since last spring. So, I forgot about this thread.

I keep thinking "tomorrow will be the day" that some new rich bitcoin money finds its way into it. Probably a lot of people holding out the same hopes for their personal bag right now.
3575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][vSPY] vSPY (itovault.com) | Defi Token Pegged to S&P 500 Total Returns on: January 12, 2021, 09:13:36 PM
Good point on the oracle.  Currently, it's a centralized oracle with an Augur-like fallback system (where users can challenge each other).  Top priority for me is to add something like Chainlink into the system and ensure the data feed is good for years.  There's also a global settlement mechanism where if say, the S&P 500 dissolves in the future, the vSPY tokens just settle at the last known good value.

If the oracle problem were solved, would you buy?  What are top token's you've bought in the past & main reasons?  I'm trying to collect some opinions to help me develop the next stage of this.

No, I'm not interested in anything related to defi whatsoever. Having said that, I read through your white paper and was glad to see original concepts being presented for a change, compared to the average trend chasers that advertise projects in this section.

I don't think its going to work but since I've now commented in this thread I'll receive updates on your progress, and you're more than welcome to prove me wrong.
3576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][vSPY] vSPY (itovault.com) | Defi Token Pegged to S&P 500 Total Returns on: January 12, 2021, 07:34:04 AM
The question I want to know is what kind of guarantee do your investors have that the oracle for vSPY will remain up and running, connected to a DEX to help keep the proper price peg? I would be afraid of going in to this project only to see the oracle disconnect from the DEX a month or two into it, leaving anyone holding vSPY with a bunch of worthless tokens.
3577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sorry guys.. Bitcoin is not for our day-to-day transactions. on: January 12, 2021, 07:30:15 AM
Bitcoin is one of the only assets in the world where the price of transacting is rises along with the price of the asset. So 20 sat/byte today is 4x more expensive than it was in July, and that's actually far below what it would take to secure getting a tx in the next block (currently 40 sat/byte).

The network itself is fast; its getting the confirmation that is the lengthy part. I transact in BTC 4-5 times a week and most of the time I'm not in a rush to receive the BTC, neither are my recipients in a rush to get their BTC. So cheap fees are fine with me.

The 2nd layer architecture is there. More exchanges need to follow in Bitfinex's footsteps and accept Lightning and Liquid BTC, allowing customers to convert between the different 2nd layer solutions without having to pay a fee. Eventually those serious about transacting in BTC will find ways to incorporate these solutions in order to save money on fees...

Sky's the limit for BTC once more txs are offloaded from the main chain.
3578  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Insurrection Act 1807 Signed? on: January 12, 2021, 06:43:38 AM
Do you guys have any respect for reality, whatsoever?

Of course Trump isn't going to invoke the Insurrection Act, and of course FEMA has nothing to do whatsoever with that. Of course whatever source that says otherwise is hot garbage.

It's a bit ironic that he caused the disaster he is declaring to be an emergency, but it's better than nothing.
3579  Economy / Reputation / Webcelerator / elmanchez alt account JasonClauch reactivated on: January 12, 2021, 05:40:02 AM
Because Vareole has locked this thread about elmanchez alts:

I had my eye on user JasonClauch for a while because he was trying to milk merits in a couple of pretty odd ways. I suspected he was the alt of a scammer but didn't know which one. In November, Vareole posted this:

Got his new account. Profile https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2833487

I was searching smth from my telegram chats and randomly saw that he has changed his telegram ID, but he keeped chat with me so I know its our guy Webcelerator aka fantom1962 aka Webcelerator. aka fantom1962. aka elmanchez

I have this telegram chat from 19 July when I exposed elmanchez was multiaccounting and ban evading.

JasonClauch profile is created on 24th July

of course lol, free money !
pm me in telegram @JamyNRK

archived for telegram ID reference https://archive.is/HFTJ8

I was skeptical about the screenshot but when I looked up JamyNRK on Telegram, this is what I saw:

The reason why I bring it up now is to let @DireWorldM14 know that elmanchez is around and also because he just started posting again after a 3 and a half month break.

Hey guys, need 5$ in any crypto.
Can offer CS:GO skin as collateral Smiley

will payback 10$ 10.01.2021

Probably trying to build another account, starting with small trades...
