3561  Economy / Economics / Re: Can One Get Rich or At least Not go Broke During a Recession? on: November 02, 2022, 02:37:56 PM
Warren Buffet said “In short, bad news is an investor’s best friend”. And another quote by someone goes thus "millionaires are made during a recession". I have been recently laid-off work due to the recent economic crisis in my country. I do not want to see this as a bad thing. So I ask what hidden opportunities does this recession offer? How can one take opportunity of the recession to become rich or at least not go broke?

You are starting from the completely wrong assumption that you can compare yourself to billionaires who have so much money that inflation or recession are not a problem for them, because they live as luxuriously as before. Unlike you, who lost your job and are looking for a way out of the situation you are in, WB and the like worry about where they will invest their billions so that after the crisis is over, they will have even greater wealth.

Unless you have some genius idea in terms of writing a book that will become a bestseller, or you can come up with some genius invention that will make the world go crazy, I don't see how you can get rich. If I were you, I would start looking for a new job today and stop listening to the rich and their advice, because they are intended for those who have money anyway.
3562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: <Bitcoin Creation> Dr. Craig Faketoshi Failed another Satoshi Test Again. on: November 02, 2022, 02:10:09 PM
The only thing that should surprise anyone would be that Faketoshi manages to prove any of his claims, and not that every day he falls into a new trap because he is so entangled in a lie that he can no longer do anything but lie more. The only thing that interests me about Faketoshi are some new trials, everything else is a joke that keeps him on the surface for free.

He should be hit where it hurts the most, which is his bank account, regardless of whether it is his account or the accounts of his sponsors. If only there was some consensus in the Bitcoin community to unite and sue Faketoshi, and put an end to this once and for all.

Is this not shilling but information sharing?

Don't be naive and ask such a question, because do you really think that most people spend their precious time to share any useful information, without having any personal (financial) interest in it all?

When it comes to cryptocurrencies, I am absolutely in favor of bringing some order to all the chaos that reigns on social networks. Promoting various crypto projects has become a lucrative business, but it results in great financial losses for many people and all those who participate in it should be held accountable for their actions.

"It is not financial advice" cannot be enough, nor can it release them from responsibility for what they say and write. I am not against freedom of expression, but I am in favor of seriously dealing with all these scammers at all levels, which result in billions of dollars/euros in damage every year.
3564  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] Should there be a 🍀 BTC AIRDROP 🍀 to Bitcointalk Merit Sources on: November 02, 2022, 11:25:42 AM
What do you guys think ?

It is unfortunate to see that some people completely misunderstand how the forum works and that they think that every function on the forum should be monetized in one way or another. It is true that some members applied to be merit sources, but there are those who were selected without asking for it - but all of them have no obligation to award even one merit they receive, it is all a matter of their good will. Their real reward is that they help all members below the Legendary rank to progress towards that rank, and if someone wants to donate anonymously to someone who is a merit source, they can do so at any time.

And what about the individuals who fight against spam? Don't you think that is also one of the most thankless, time consuming and frustrating jobs out there? I think it is. And it's not just the job itself that's tough, but also the posts you have to deal with on a regular basis. Those people also deserve our respect and appreciation because they work hard to keep the forum clean and safe.

All of them are obviously a different category and apparently quite underestimated because, as some prominent members of the forum say, they "waste their time" instead of using the ignore button. I do not think that they should be financially motivated for what they do, because that would only result in massive reports and abuse of unprecedented proportions. If the administration thinks that once a year it can simply say thank you to those members, most would understand that as additional motivation.

...is someone who sees my post low quality please report it at the same time. so I would feel better if it was done all at once.

You see, that's exactly the point, and I still stand behind someone sending you a message in this way - or he's just bored in life and wanted to cause this kind of reaction. Avoid spam megathreads and generic answers, try to be unique in each post.

ps : i will lock the thread once this problem is solved

It's your decision, but I don't see that you will find out anything more in the sense that whoever is behind it will come forward. As for reports, everyone is provided with privacy and everything remains between the reporters and moderators.
3566  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull or bear November? on: November 01, 2022, 02:52:56 PM
But let us continue our monthly fun. Would the price of bitcoin increase or decrease in November?

This is turning into a boring game because we are in the middle of a bear market, and regardless of the fact that there are a lot of impatient people who want their profits, I think we have many more months to come in which nothing will happen. Any attempt to raise the price will very likely end up in the same way as all the previous ones, because for some, even a small profit is better than none.

Therefore, I think that November and especially December will not be a period in which you should hope for anything more than a 10% change in both directions - and if we assume that some will sell part of their BTC for this year's Christmas-New Year holidays (as well as every year), then we could conclude what awaits us.

I have already written this several times, but I will repeat that despite everything, the price of around $20k is more positive than negative as it seems to some. The longer we keep this stability, the firmer we will be, not only for the next big bull run, but also to show that Bitcoin can endure even in moments when all markets are facing serious challenges.
3567  Other / Meta / Re: post deletion issue on: November 01, 2022, 02:11:37 PM
I do believe it is not moderators activity, it could be Bot behavior.
---
Moderators cannot monitor my activities for 24H/7 days to find me online and delete old posts within an hour or half hour after posting a new discussion.

I know that there is at least one active bot (@Mitchell), but I don't know if it works in such a way that it can detect how many new posts someone has written and delete that many posts every day. Maybe there is some new bot that we don't know about, and if it's aimed at Gambling, maybe someone decided to clean up that board a bit. Let's remember the famous bot because of which thousands of user accounts were perma-banned, of course not automatically, but after the moderators had done their part.
3568  Economy / Speculation / Re: The real bottom is yet to come of BTC on: November 01, 2022, 01:39:18 PM
This time is different from the other, we are in recession. All macro factors there to downside the whole shares and crypto.
There will be more bottom ready. 13000-10000$ range is the golden. Lets DCA after 15K

And because of the recession, the price of BTC will drop to $10k? As far as I know, you are not some kind of expert, but someone who until recently asked beginner questions, and now you are repeating what various yt experts have been repeating like a broken record for more than a year.

I'm not saying that something bad can't happen, but that a 50% crash will happen just like that because everyone wants to buy cheap Bitcoin is nothing but the wishful thinking of those who say all the time that Bitcoin is too expensive for them. If $10k happens, don't think that it will stop there, maybe in that case you will do your DCA at a price of $5000.
3569  Other / Meta / Re: post deletion issue on: November 01, 2022, 01:20:50 PM
~snip~
from all my suspicions or doubts about the deletion of posts or replies that have occurred, i hope someone can explain in detail the reasons for deleting posts one by one without deleting all my posts that look wrong.
if the answer is correct and detailed, i will try to accept all of them without worrying about this anymore

Maybe someone sends you a message that way? And the message is to change something about your posts because otherwise they will continue to be deleted. I personally have nothing to do with it, and this is just my opinion - but someone obviously considers you a sig spammer, maybe you should check your trust wall?
3570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is losing bitcoin in account have a significant impact to the bitcoin economy? on: November 01, 2022, 11:43:29 AM
One recent estimate assume that there are 3-4 million of bitcoins are lost forever. Here are some people that lost there bitcoin fortune.

Recently? Well, that's a story that's been known for at least 5 years, when a company applied the methodology of expressing lost BTC in such a way that they said that everything that hasn't moved in 4 or 5 years is lost, and that's more than a stupid way to conclude something.

Stefan Thomas is a software developer held an estimated $220 million in a lost Bitcoin wallet he simply forgot the password in his IronKey account, and James Howells, lost his Bitcoin fortune of approximately 8 000 bitcoin when he accidentally threw away an old laptop.

When such a thing happens to an ordinary person, I am not too surprised, but someone who is supposed to be a software developer should not ignore the importance of a backup. It's shameful and humiliating, and I would keep such a thing a secret so as not to damage my reputation - but he wasn't even that intelligent.

As for Howells, it is about 7500 BTC (allegedly), the private keys of which were on a hard drive that was thrown away by his partner and not by him personally.

If someone lose their bitcoins (whether it is small or big amount), does it have a significant impact to the bitcoin economy?

It has a positive effect, because those coins that remain will be worth even more in the future - Satoshi himself had such an opinion. Although some think that 21 million is insufficient max supply, I do not agree with that considering that even today there is enough BTC for anyone who wants to buy it - millions are on the market every day.
3571  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The primitive era had the best Bitcoin could offer!!! on: November 01, 2022, 11:28:09 AM
Those who bought from 2009 - 2018 are millionaires in currencies below USD for those who were patient enough to hold.

It is not very logical to compare 2009 with the years after 2016, considering the price of Bitcoin at the very beginning, and the fact that at the end of 2016, 1 BTC was worth around $1000. The man you mention bought 5000 BTC, although I find information that mentions 5600 BTC for about $27 and of course he got rich that way, but all those who invested 5 years ago are in no better position than those who are doing it today.

Do we believe Bitcoin will ever make more millionaires in other currencies beside the USD even if not in the present generation maybe in a long time probably when we all have been reduced to dust and and only our good works live on.

They say that there are 61 million people in the world who are millionaires in $, and there will be even more, considering that their number is constantly increasing. Some will surely become millionaires thanks to the investment in Bitcoin they made in the past, because it is not realistic to expect that the price of BTC in the next 10 years will be x100 higher than today.
3572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts when all Bitcoins are mined? on: November 01, 2022, 11:09:49 AM
I do not think that it is completely meaningless since the question triggers our imagination and speculation.  Having good thoughts on the future of Bitcoin will motivate us to pursue it even more.  Reading different positive replies although we know that it is just speculation somehow will put us at ease especially when we are holding and plan to accumulate Bitcoin more.  The question and positive answer somehow create an illusion of security that somehow what we are doing right now will not be in vain.

If it makes you (and some others) happy, I have nothing against such things keeping you busy, while at the same time some other, much more important things pass under your radar. People who live in some kind of imagination and imagine what will happen in 100 years have a hard time dealing with reality, in other words, they run away from it.

Just like you said, it's just an illusion because our time is now, and such a distant future belongs to other people. I think I'm not wrong about what I'm doing now, and what other people will think about it when I'm gone one day, I really don't care.
3573  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - How high can it go? on: October 31, 2022, 04:00:19 PM
Even reaching $200k gives us only 10x from current price and that can take years - with altcoins at least that can happen in months, that is why I am thinking of Altcoins too.

In that case, Bitcoin is not an option for you, because you just want as much profit as possible in the shortest possible time - and it seems that you don't have too much money for a serious investment. What you may have forgotten is that you include inflation in all of this, which will reduce the purchasing power of possible earnings after x years.

In the end, it's your money and your game - just don't be too greedy, because there are few who really got rich by investing in cryptocurrencies, and many more who lost much more than they wanted.
3574  Other / Meta / Re: Is this merit system abuse on: October 31, 2022, 03:22:48 PM
• Reading from various section of the platform I discover that higher rank members are always meriting themselves, despite the level of low quality post, why newbies ends up with nothing irrespective of how informative their post is. This system isn't really favorable to Newbies.

Apparently, you read a lot, but understand very little of it all. If you see a post that is of low quality by your standards and that same post has received a lot of merits, then know that the post does not necessarily have to be of high quality in order to receive a merit.

After my observation, i concluded that most higher rank members are selfish with the merit system.

You have been on the forum for too short a time to draw any meaningful conclusions, but all these conclusions stem from the fact that you have received only 1 merit so far, which is obviously frustrating for you. You are not the first or the last to have such a problem, but by persistently presenting your observations, I concluded that you are not here for knowledge, but that you have something completely different in mind - convince me that I am wrong.

One important thing that obviously escaped your observations -> [TOP-200] Members who support newbies
3575  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts when all Bitcoins are mined? on: October 31, 2022, 02:54:41 PM
None of us will probably be alive in 120 years, so the question is completely meaningless - it will be as it will be and we will not be able to influence it. What is more important is that 99% of all BTC will be mined in about ten years, and why should we even worry about that 1% that won't mean too much? I would therefore focus on what will happen with the halvings 2024&2028, and then on 99% mined BTC as some kind of achievement.
3576  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - How high can it go? on: October 31, 2022, 02:35:24 PM
I am just debating if I should continue to DCA into Bitcoin or sell all and put into stronger altcoins which will see better ROI over the next few years.

If you ask such a question, then you are in serious trouble, you might lose everything you have if you start gambling with altcoins. I understand that you are only in this for profit, but no one can tell you how much Bitcoin will be worth at this time next year, let alone how much it will be worth in 10 years. I'm pretty sure that Bitcoin will be around in 10 years, and all those stronger coins you're thinking of will most likely be buried deep under a pile of digital junk.

Of course, this does not mean that you should not look for alternative ways to profit, but you must know when it is time to board and when to leave the ship that is about to sink.
3577  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: October 31, 2022, 02:14:01 PM
The only thing this team might be missing compared to the 2018 World Cup squad is a killer striker like Mandjukic.

We have been missing that for 4 years, and our coach has not been able to find a replacement for him - because Kramaric is overrated and plays very poorly for the national team, and Petkovic plays 1 good game out of 10. The only one who has something in his game is Livaja, but honestly, all three together do not have the quality that Mandjukic had.

Yeah, I was wondering what he's saying when the Telegram bot notified me about that reply, just didn't have the time to check the forum and reply. Maybe TheGreatPython was referring to the result in the Euro 2021 when Spain defeated Croatia 5-3 after extra time. But I wouldn't count that as "not good" performance because it is Spain.

We lost that game because of the stupidity of two players, firstly Rebica who went to change his boots in the middle of the game (Spain scores a goal), and then Gvardiol who went to drink water in the middle of the game (Spain scores a goal again). Of course, after we got back into the game, we didn't take the psychological advantage in overtime and scored a goal from the great opportunities we had.
3578  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I was SCAMMED , Please HELP! on: October 31, 2022, 01:59:44 PM
@robelneo, one such measure would prevent people from creating profiles just to scam someone, because even though 1 merit might be easy to get (not for anyone), it would still take some time and effort to get to Jr. Member. After all, this is a forum for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, not a forum where various things that have nothing to do with cryptocurrencies are sold - prove that you are worthy and only then will you get the opportunity to offer your services.

I think that many warnings are simply not something that most people pay attention to, and some simply do not understand them due to their poor knowledge of the English language. However, if people applied a little logic from real life, they would prevent a lot of bad situations for themselves - if you are not going to give a complete stranger on the street $50 because he promised you something, is there any logic in doing it online?
3579  Economy / Economics / Re: In a post abundance economy, which commodities and assets would appreciate most on: October 30, 2022, 04:03:30 PM
NATO and russia are discussing dirty bombs & nuclear war and you're claiming the apocalypse has been averted?
I think you have not been paying attention.

Ever since 1962 and the Cold War, but that doesn't mean that something like that will still happen - plus @stompix post talks about the price of gas and avoiding an ice apocalypse, while you talk about atomic bombs and war. In addition, I pay very close attention to what is happening because I am relatively close to Ukraine (if 1000 km from the front line of the war is not considered too far).

From the perspective of someone who lived through the similar war 30+ years ago, I think I understand what is happening much better than someone who only watched the war on TV...
3580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 8 Years ago today, $500,000 worth of bitcoin was distributed to MIT students. on: October 30, 2022, 03:25:30 PM
...I signed up here in 2014, but I was nowhere to be seen in less than a year. Thus, it's hypocritical for me to call these students out, because I myself have lost interest in Bitcoin. I wasn't given a free airdrop, though, but chances are that I'd do the same.

I would never have thought that you registered on the forum before me, although I followed the forum as a guest sometime in the middle of 2014, and I registered only a year later. It was still a time of extremely high doubts about whether Bitcoin has a future or not, whether it will ever be worth $1000 again or is just a "mirage" as the famous The Oracle of Omaha said at the time.

If we are honest, at that time free Bitcoin was much more realistic than today in the sense that you could literally earn some through faucets - These were not large amounts in fiat ($2-3), but with a price of around $200/250 per BTC and with a little help from referrals, you could collect 1 BTC within a reasonable time. What I want to tell you is that most people did not consider Bitcoin to have a greater value than what was then expressed in fiat, and that's how they treated it.
