3581  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How do I properly set up a server as a bitcoin wallet? on: February 09, 2020, 08:08:56 AM
Since you mentioned it, I'm looking for a way to randomly select a bitcoin address at random from my 20 addresses every time I want to receive a payment. The goal is to thwart address clustering attempts. Do you know of any Electrum plugin that can do this? If one doesn't exist yet then I might develop one myself since I'm skilled in Python.

Electrum will do that for you. Just make sure to use the receive tab. After receiving funds, a new one (that hasn't been used before) will be given to you.
3582  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: App for traders to manage profits from localbitcoins on: February 08, 2020, 07:23:22 PM
You can try CoinTracking. I believe they're the only platform that supports LBC. Importing is not fully automatic as in the other exchanges, but doing it manually would still save you a lot of trouble.

Alternatively, you can look at other similar apps here: https://hackernoon.com/top-5-cryptocurrency-portfolio-trackers-for-everyday-use-in-2019-85c812044a60
3583  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: February 07, 2020, 07:25:55 PM
Interesting. The lowercase one is this user apparently: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=252546 and it seems to have been renamed to "murat_" (with underscore at the end) to make way for Murat. BPIP doesn't automatically refresh archived (inactive for a long time or banned) profiles unless they wake up but clicking "Refresh Profile" manually should fix this.

Wouldn't it be better if you access the profiles (on the search list) through the userID[1] instead of the usernames[2]? That should fix the problem as well.

I've also noticed that the search could be optimized a bit (unless this is done on purpose). If I'm not mistaken:

BPIP: WHERE userName LIKE 'StarScream%' (Find all names that starts with StarScream)
Forums: WHERE userName LIKE '%StarScream%' (Find any name that has 'StarScream' in any position)

I find that using the second way is better.

Also, I have a question regarding the banned accounts, are you getting them from the modlog? does that mean that any account that has been banned before BPIP won't show as 'banned'?

3584  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Free listing exchanges on: February 07, 2020, 09:05:32 AM
Stex just asked me about 1 BTC to get listed.
You have to be supported by Bank of America today to be listed in an exchange.
Good bye all time when people though that Crypto will revolutionize the banking system.

HitBTC is asking 40 BTC, some are already thinking that they are bank of America.

You don't necessarily have to pay anything, there are plenty of exchanges (including centralized ones) that don't ask for any fee. Of course, you have to first meet some requirements before being listed (clean code, strong userbase, etc.) but that's understandable, we don't want reputable exchanges to end up like Yobit where only scam and shitcoins are listed.

3585  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: bitcoin-converter.com on: February 07, 2020, 06:25:05 AM
Good job on the improvements you've done so far, here are a few more suggestions:

- Support more fiat currencies: You can use Fixer.io API. Also, make sure to make it easy to search for a currency (while having USD, EUR & GBP on top), a user won't bother scrolling through the whole list, especially if you're going to support 170 currencies.
- Price sources: You listed way too many centralized platforms, take a few off and include P2P exchanges like LBC and decentralized ones like Bisq.io. I also suggest you allow multiple selections for the price source so instead of only being able to select one exchange at the time, allow the user to select multiple platforms and take then calculate the average from that.

It also seems like there is some glitch. Whenever you use decimals, the textbox border becomes red as if there is some kind of error (but the conversion works just fine).
3586  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: switch exchanges on: February 06, 2020, 08:28:53 PM
You can do that. The exchange doesn't care where the funds are coming from, any transaction will automatically be detected.
3587  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Service to short stocks with Bitcoin? on: February 05, 2020, 06:03:10 PM
Have you checked eToro? It seems like they have the stocks[1][2] you're looking for. The fees are quite high though (25$ on withdrawals).

I know that bitcoin is accepted but I'm not entirely sure about whether you can use your funds on the trading platform or just on their eWallet. If you find out that you can't, just deposit your bitcoin to Neteller/Skrill (1% fees) then send that to your eToro account.

3588  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best exchanges to practice for free? on: February 05, 2020, 04:31:01 PM
Binance doesn't have that feature implemented. You can try BitsGap. It's a platform that I came across a not long time ago, and it seems like they allow demo trading through 5 different exchanges (not sure which). You also have BitMex testnet which is another reputable exchange.
3589  Economy / Exchanges / Re: is this Localbitcoins alternative - localcryptos.com? on: February 05, 2020, 12:07:04 PM
Yes, the platform is legit and a great alternative for both LBC and Paxful as I explained in the thread linked above.

In my opinion, the only downside is that there isn't much liquidity so unless you're sticking to known payment methods, it can be a little bit hard to get your buy/sell offer fulfilled.
3590  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Coinsbee.com - Buy gift cards with about 50 crypto currencies! on: February 04, 2020, 04:41:52 PM
Could you maybe lower the amount of confirmations needed before receiving a gift card, or is that not in your control?

6 confirmations for a 20EUR giftcard seems a bit excessive and unnecessary, and would be something that would drive me to your competitors.

I ordered from the site multiple times in the past, and I don't remember having to wait for that much. I've just tried to make a small order to confirm this (10 GBP) and as expected, I received my code instantly.

It appears that no confirmations are required for orders under 50EUR. If you order more than that, you have to wait for one confirmation .
3591  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [ Paypal ] Where can I buy bitcoin if I have Paypal money? on: February 04, 2020, 03:24:10 PM
Maybe my question is not necessary, but why don't you buy it at this forum in the Goods section? It may not be safe to trade directly, but you can make a deposit or trade through an intermediary. I bet there are many reputable members willing to help you  Wink

There is no point in that. If a reversible payment method is used, an escrow won't be of much help. Yes, it will help if both parties refuse to go first but even after that you still have the risk of the buyer doing a chargeback.
3592  Economy / Services / Need someone familiar with userScripts on: February 04, 2020, 01:44:49 PM
I want something that will make the reporting process (on the forums) easier for me: If I press a key (F4) while my active tab is a bitcoin talk thread, I want to be redirected to the report page (of the original post) where I have to comment and submit the report.

I'm not sure how complicated to make this is... but if you think you could create the script, P.M me with how much you're willing to do it for.

3594  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What is the best way of selling small amount of bitcoin to tether? on: February 03, 2020, 06:46:32 PM
Both Ledger and Trezor offer USDT storage but I'm not totally sure which version. It could get messy if you have the wrong one. Coinomi seem to offer it too and they also have Shapeshift integration. You need a Shapeshift account these days but I dunno how demanding they are.

Ledger support the ERC20 version while Trezor offer the Omni one through OmniTrezor.com.

Regarding ShapeShift, If I'm not mistaken, KYC is avoidable if you're using it through a third party wallet.
3595  Economy / Scam Accusations / [WARNING] GetHashWallet.com on: February 03, 2020, 09:14:30 AM
Website: GetHashWallet.com
Ann thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5212740.new

Their product (a hardware wallet) is not out yet and I haven't been scammed but I wanted to warn people because I've noticed that they're advertising their product is a way that a legitimate service would never do.

Notice how these accounts (pairs) are only communicating with each other trying to advertise Hashwallet:

Also, if you visit their profiles, you can see that they're registered on the same date/time.
3596  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BitPay KYC/AML for $150k transaction on: February 03, 2020, 06:52:16 AM
I wouldn't suggest doing this. Your payment will certainly not go through (because of the large amount) without being forced to prove the source of income and residence. Just suggest sending the funds to the seller directly. He could later use an exchange to convert the funds to fiat.

If you still decide to go through this, you can make the process by faster by verifying your account now. Just make a personal account, go to your dashboard and submit your documents so when you're given an invoice, you just log in to your BitPay account and send the payment. But as I said above, expect to provide more info and writing back and forth with the support after sending the payment.
3597  Other / Meta / Re: How Do You Post Pictures? on: February 02, 2020, 05:09:07 PM
1. Upload the image to an image hosting service.
2. Get the URL (make sure it ends with the file extension)
3. Post the link between img tags.

Example:

3598  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How can I add 'Bitcoin Payment Gateway' on my website? on: February 02, 2020, 04:35:16 PM
In addition to what has been said, you might want to consider generating a new address for each transaction, instead of assigning one unique address for each user. Also, to save some fees: if a user wins/loses, nothing should happen on-chain (just 1's and 0's changing in the database). When sending (user withdrawal): make sure to batch transactions instead of sending funds on each individual's request.

If you're familiar with Node.js, take a look at this open-source dice game. It should help you understand how things work. Keep in mind that the code hasn't been reviewed by so many people, so I wouldn't suggest forking it and using it on a live product unless you can check it yourself and confirm that it has no backdoors.
3599  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [ Paypal ] Where can I buy bitcoin if I have Paypal money? on: February 02, 2020, 04:04:57 PM
Okay not only Paypal, but I want to know where I can buy BITCOIN directly using Paypal or any debit/credit card. Thanks for mentioning best exchange but I'm looking for a different non-person-to-person transaction. Something similar to Coinbase

For credit/debit cards, you have multiple options: Coinmama, BitPanda, and CEX.io.

As for PayPal, then with Virwox shutting down, you really don't have any other alternatives but to use P2P trading.
3600  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: ownrwallet on: February 01, 2020, 04:33:32 PM
I found this[1][2]. It appears that they have a partnership with Bitfinex which in my opinion is another indication for their legitimacy.
