361  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Kenilworth Exploration - Real World Mining Opertunity with Bitcoins on: June 17, 2013, 05:56:50 AM
Hmm,

I think the difference is that they have already found traces of Gold on their land.

Generally most exploration companies are at stage 1, go out and find something.
I think here, they are at stage 2, they have found something, and need funds to further detail exactly how much has is actually there.

So regardless, as long as the traces are correct, the promise of Gold is 100%. It is more of a question of exactly "how much".

-Ukyo

really strange to have junior mining company trying to get funds from btc community. There is about 3000 companies like that with better drill results starving on toronto stock exchange... if the prices of gold and silver will be supressed by BIS, FED, ECB and other crony banksters, it is just waste of money. But maybe one day bitfunder will offer real producer of gold, oil or REE, that would be interesting, but not junior
362  Economy / Securities / Re: Why are people buying asic mining shares? are they insane? on: June 17, 2013, 05:42:57 AM
Your looking at this completely wrong.  Your comparing apples and oranges.  When you buy shares of a company on the stock market, I dont know anyone that asks how long until the dividends completely repay the investment 100%.  The shares alone hold the value.

You are not considering the capital appreciation if the share prices rises, which it most likely will.  At any time you can sell back the shares and get the initial investment (and more) back so you dont have to sweat "breaking even"

I see, so most of you buying those shares are considering this similar to buying stocks in a publicly listed company with sec oversight and proper financial reporting, you are assuming you really own part of the asic miner "company" and all profits made by the "company" are reinvested in growth and shared among its share holders. And this is not just some guy in a basement with a spreadsheet that has your name on it and decide what he wants to pay you each week...

Ok now it's clear, i just couldnt figure out why people are buying those "shares".

there is a book called Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham... or Security analysis. Try before you write something, ehm, stupid

It was a question, no need to be rude. Well aware of what value investing is, i work in the capital markets for a living. Maybe you should ask graham what he thinks about paying $250 for an asic miner "share" Smiley

sorry to be rude, but let the mob doing same mistakes around Cheesy anyway, I think short term is AM good choice and we will see later. It is better to have coins making new coins then just sit in some wallet and wait for capital appreciation. Graham is dead, I am not so much into conservative investing, prefer risky leveraged ETF trading for oil and silver Cheesy
363  Economy / Securities / Re: Why are people buying asic mining shares? are they insane? on: June 14, 2013, 03:50:56 PM
I never got an answer. Just some first grade math here:

1) 2.5 BTC per share -> 0.036 weekly dividend = 0.145 btc a month = 17 month breakeven
2) 50 BTC (20 shares) = 3 btc a month
3) 50 BTC buys you a 13 GH asic card = 12 BTC a month  (factor in whatever difficulty increase it is still significantly better income, and keep in mind the mining shares dividend are also impacted by the difficulty increase).

So i really dont understand why anyone will buy asic shares? what is the point? the return on those are terrible, on top of absolutely insane counterparty risk dependent on some guy who is running a black box that tells you what dividend he will pay.

Why would you not just have a physical card you own with no dependency on third party and make significantly more btc as income?  Yet so many smart people are buying those shares...there must be something i am missing?

waiting to be enlightened...

364  Economy / Securities / Re: What do we really know about AMC? on: June 14, 2013, 03:22:37 PM
Doh.

(ii) deposit money with or lend money to the company.

I did find it amusing that they misspelled RESTRICTIONS in their document.  Wink

Yes, maybe I am naive, but what if Ken/AMC succeeds in getting delivery of those ASIC chips? What if he does use the money raised by offering shares to hire a good technical team and actually gets those mining rigs up and running?  Yes, I agree that he did some things in a sloppy way, and tends to some hyperbole, but so far, I do not see any evidence of outright fraud, only lack of some transparency. And yes, I am an adult who took a risk by investing with AMC. But, all of the people who invested in AMC, (I hope) are aware of the risks involved in any and all Bitcoin ventures. I am curious why those who have no horse in this race seem obligated to save and educate those of us either stupid enough or who like gambling or are willing to take risks?

Anyone with even a fraction of a bitcoin to their name has a horse in this race.  If those that know what they're doing allow new bitcoin users to blindly get scammed into oblivion, what future does bitcoin really have?  Not everyone can be a legal pro, or a technical pro, or a social pro, or a management pro.  We all have our strengths and weaknesses.  I tend to value insight from all walks, as it helps to form an overall picture of the risk involved in going with one investment or another.  (and really, all bitcoin investments should be considered gambles more than anything.)

What I dug up above is a minor legal oversight.  Minor just because no one cares much.  Even if the gov't of Vanuatu found out it'd probably be some pretty serious fines or something and AMC would just ignore them.

All AMC has to do is re-incorporate on a different island elsewhere and they should be just fine.  Smiley

btw, why did you incorporate in Belize and didn´t ask for licensed company to be regulated? I work for offshore service company, I am doing it regurarly for our clients...
"Trading in financial and commodity-based derivative instruments and other securities (e.g. futures, options, interest rates, foreign exchange instruments, shares, stock, contracts for differences, etc.)"

It is expensive, I know, proper due diligence, AML regulations etc. Personally, I do not care, I have an account at btct.to and also I own shares of AMC. Btw, Seychelles is not good jurisdiction for this as well.
365  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Guide: Building a Solar Powered Mining-Plant on: June 14, 2013, 02:22:22 PM
interesting, do you think it is possible to use it on balcony as well?
I do not have an access to the roof in building i live in

Yes, you can use this on your balcony.
In fact, I am using my solar-island on my windowsill (behind the windows!) because I dont even have a balcony. I am loosing around 40% efficiency that way. But its still working like a champ. Smiley

ok, thanx, i will try... not maybe for mining as I wait for my devices, but to cut myself from electric slavery Cheesy
366  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Guide: Building a Solar Powered Mining-Plant on: June 14, 2013, 09:50:45 AM
Hi to everyone. Smiley

In this post I will share my knowledge about building a solar power island like the one I build myself to power my computer and router. Of course everything you are about to learn from this guide can be used to set up a raspberry-pi-driven mining-plattform thats brings mining for essentially free (of course: assuming you got enough sunlight.)

I. Hardware

II. Setup

  • Step 1: Make sure you get the most efficiency out of your solar panel.

Use the following chart to find out the best setup:
    "Dachausrichtung" means roof orientation.
    "Dachneigung" means roof pitch.

  • Step 2: Connect solar panels, solar charge controller, battery and USB-Power-Output

2.1: Always take care of correct polarity.
2.2: Connect the solar panels positive pole with the controllers positive solar-panel-jack and then connect the negatives.
2.3: Connect the batteries positive pole with the controllers positive battery-jack and then connect the negatives.
2.4: Connect the Autek-12V-to-5V/3A-USB-Converters positive pole with the controllers positive load-output-jack and then connect the negatives.

  • Step 3: Connect your Raspberry Pi along with your ZTEX/Cairnsmore/whatever-you-may-want-to-use

Congratulations! You are now mining bitcoins using free sunlight. Consider yourself being a champion.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. Smiley

Thanks for initiating the dividends Ken.

What are your plans for the frequency of future payouts?  Daily? Weekly?

Weekly, week ends Tuesday 23:59 UTC, dividends paid within 48 hours of that date.

great, buying more shares...
368  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best exchange to buy bitcoins? on: June 05, 2013, 11:39:01 AM
Obviously I have to promote out site: https://vircurex.com

If you want to buy BTC with USD, then it is as simple as buying a VouchX voucher (Aurumxchange.com) with their many funding options, instantly and free of charge redeem that voucher on our site, buy your Bitcoins and if you wish to do so, withdraw those coins anytime, no daily limits.

Will be there any May dividends for VCX?

oki, cool, i trade but etfs, especially leveraged one for oil, silver, mainly shorts, i think to start trading btc as well, but need to make backtests...
371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Avalon ASIC rig clones - scam or not? on: May 27, 2013, 01:24:16 PM
Avalon clones are new. Moreover, they are not saying that they have item on hand. They are taking pre-orders. Who knows when will they deliver? If I were you, I would rather spend that money on butterfly labs miners. I can buy more hashing power for the same money from butterfly labs and I would have peace of mind.

ordered as well, i have also ordered and paid BFL device last month, but I guess there is not any chance to get it be4 xmass... hopefully clones will be in August
