361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Heartbleed Vulnerability - We Need to be Careful on: April 13, 2014, 12:54:31 AM

NSA dont have that much skill as you think.
1) they only got to silkroad via asking google for DPR's IP to locate him. then getting the data AFTER confiscating his computer at th time of his arrest.
2) they employed the UK's GCHQ to brute force DPR's passwords.
(thats what i gathered from the evidence notes of the DPR case)

If you're the NSA, you don't use / expose your secret methods for a shitty score like silk road.

If you're a clever spy, pretending to be less clever than you really are is a crucial strategy for retaining your effectiveness.

For example: in WWII, the Allies knew of impending German attacks, having broken Germany's Enigma, an advanced encryption engine. However, very often Allied forces could not be warned in advance of these known impending attacks because doing so would reveal the compromised encryption, which would be immediately corrected. The Allies were after the big secrets.

But it's not for everyone. So lets see. Maybe down the line I'll make a more affordable version if it's possible.

It doesn't need to be cheap. This device, in my mind, is for people storing more wealth than they can afford to lose.

In that light, a price range of $100-$200 each would seem reasonable from my perspective. Is that in the ballpark of what you were thinking of?
363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Too much scamming in Bitcoin on: April 12, 2014, 04:24:27 PM
If there is too much, how much is just right?

Scamming didn't start with bitcoin, & it won't end with bitcoin.

Ironically, the US DOLLAR will end up being the biggest scam of all time, when the debt is defaulted on. Trillions will be wiped out overnight.

Bitcoin is worse than fiat in terms of scamming

Because in bitcoin its tougher to get caught, once its gone its gone, with cash its somewhat recoverable

You mean if I get robbed, I can recover my lost money?

Touche.

364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox database leak: why you should always mix your coins. on: March 11, 2014, 04:53:30 PM
...
Also using the centralized (VPN, mixer, tumbler, laundry) identifies you as someone that deserves extra monitoring by the authorities.
...

NSA views encryption as evidence of suspicion and will target those who use it:

A certain three letter agency should turn their all-seeing digital spotlight on themselves with that same air of moral heroism.
365  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin foundation looking pretty WHITE on: March 11, 2014, 04:39:41 PM
What is up with the lack of diversity in the "Bitcoin Foundation?"

White folks are basically claiming control of the BTC protocol?

Gonna turn other folks off, dontcha think?

Looks like the rich are getting richer.

That's racist.
366  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Need $50 within the hour on: February 03, 2014, 01:03:22 AM
anyway, my time's up.

no cold stash, hot wallet or exchange USD helped me. major drawback for BTC: the inability to get cash quickly.

A) BTC is like cash.
B) The problem is getting the paper certificates, not the digital ones.

Conclusion: Fiat cash is the major drawback.

buying 3 cards from him - will report back if worked. He seems to be very hideous with his personal info, lets see...

Whats the point of being anonymous with bitcoin is that I don't have to reveal my information as Im letting him wire money to the company instead of me he wanted my info.  I dont know how is that being hideous?

There is no need to be anonymous if you aren't a criminal or a scammer, though. If you are providing a legit service/product , you have nothing to hide?

here is tracking number for sirjockey he got his package
fedex link https://www.fedex.com/fedextrack/index.html?tracknumbers=803940547034&cntry_code=us

Nice work.
You just released your buyer's name and where he lives from that link you exposed to the public.

Heard of a PM?

It doesn't matter, he's not a criminal or a scammer......RIGHT?    Roll Eyes

371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name something you've actually BOUGHT with bitcoin on: December 03, 2013, 07:17:44 PM
I feel like the vast majority of people are investors right now. Is anyone actually using bitcoin to buy things? If so, what? I've purchased other cryptocurrencies with it, but that's it so far...

Everything.
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thinking about a secure USB drive for my wallet on: November 29, 2013, 05:19:52 PM
the average life of a USB flash drive is pitifully short.

I wouldn't even store my family pictures on there. Much less my life savings.
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10 minute vs. 2.5 minute confirmation time on: November 28, 2013, 03:53:39 AM
Yes, shorter confirm times = coin less secure, but I don't have the story on how this works.
374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin isn't worth it for consumers. And that will stop adoption. on: November 23, 2013, 11:11:05 PM

Currently bitcoin has nearly zero consumer protection in place. I raised this issue on the bitcoin foundation forums, and my understanding is that they are working on it. Or rather, it's not even their job to work on it. It's the job of the various companies overlaying the bitcoin protocol, providing services, that should be providing the consumer protections. Something like that.

But if you lined up 100 consumers, and tried to convince them why bitcoin is better than Cash or credit cards, I think you would fail. I don't think they would see the relevance of it, unless they regularly send money home to family in other countries. The ability to use a smart phone to make purchases, might be the only slightly relevant benefit. I don't know if that's significant enough to motivate a worldwide currency change.

When you say consumer protection, you mean protection from shady internet sellers, right? Well, that's not a bitcoin problem.  Merchants already offer consumer protection for digital payments on the internet.

1. Ebay protects buyers by guaranteeing that you'll get what you pay for or your money back.
2. Amazon protects consumers by facilitating trade between online entrepreneurs and shoppers.

Both of these sites do not accept USD directly, they mainly take paypal and credit cards, which are both digital overlay systems with MORE risk than bitcoin, ironically. But by adding significant fees to compensate for fraud, these companies together with credit card and banking industries have found a way to make it work.

375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin isn't worth it for consumers. And that will stop adoption. on: November 23, 2013, 09:10:18 PM
I'm a consumer and bitcoins really worth for me.

I spend bitcoins for many things like buying domains and servers, paying freelancers for their work, ordering electronics and food.
I'm really glad to realize that everything I buy becomes cheaper and cheaper in time Smiley

Same here. Bitcoin is very attractive to me as a consumer. Bitcoin itself is the 'huge, global, significant thing', potentially a bigger technological development than the internet IMO. Its going to change everything, because to most people these days, money is everything.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proof that BITCOIN is more scarce than GOLD & DIAMONDS on: November 23, 2013, 08:29:41 PM
Just watched Peter Schiff speaking about bitcoin and gold and found how deep is he in his delusion.

The main argument against gold and other precious metals is that they can be synthesized.

As soon as humanity discover cheap way to produce enormous amounts of energy (i.e. fusion), gold/platinum/palladium will be produced from cheap sources like mercury by a process called "transmutation".

Logical fallacy. You assume that this is possible (that energy will one day be exponentially cheaper). If we *know* its possible, then we'd have achieved it. Since we don't yet know for sure, this is a weak argument against gold.

377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Comet ISON might cause world-wide EMP and thus paralyse Bitcoin on: November 23, 2013, 08:24:27 PM
Human brain is immune to EMP. Brainwallet is the solution Cheesy

Human brain fueled by water and food. Water and food supply disrupted by EMP. Brain die.

Just saying.
378  Other / Off-topic / Re: Goddamnit... on: November 23, 2013, 06:59:39 PM
I refer to the animist and druidic traditions of Celtic Europe.  The early Christians weren't so bad, a few crackpot monks wandering around, started getting bad around 380ish.

Is it silly to be bitter about it?  maybe, but the desert male redeemer cult does not appeal to me in the least.

The 'desert male redeemer' voluntarily allowed a gang of thugs to torture and kill him. Just before he died he asked that they be forgiven because they 'don't know what they're doing'.

That's the benchmark. He hated the sick deeds of crackpots, just like you do, and called them out on their hypocrisy. But he understood it was the human condition that needed fixing.
379  Other / Off-topic / Re: Goddamnit... on: November 23, 2013, 06:01:15 PM
Why don't you use their race to spread your bigoted ideology? For example, "The whites came and destroyed everything."

It would be the same argument, and you'd look just as foolish to anyone with a brain.
380  Other / Off-topic / Re: Goddamnit... on: November 23, 2013, 05:53:37 PM
How about simply not giving a crap? Usually works and the other person gets tired of talking to someone with a responsiveness of a brick and walks away. Win - win for both.

1. When it comes to money, we're all of the same religion.

2. Fuck all religions. #1 cause of all bloodshed in history, in the name of 'Abraham'.  Religion is the worst thing that ever happened to us.  Put me in a room with a religious person and I will shred them.  Then again, watch out because when you argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

3. Straighten out your thinking.

what are you talking about, who caused bloodshed in the name of Abraham?
by that logic you should fuck USA because it caused bloodshed in Iran,Iraq,Japan,Korea,Vietnam..

Most, if not all of these wars weren't for religion at heart. It was either power, land or riches. Of course, it can be a combination of the three.

+1,000,000

Real faith is not about natural things. So why fight for them? Spiritual properties can't be bought, sold, or forced at the barrel of a gun.
