I am quite interested in a few chips atm. I'm currently coin poor thanks to converting to cash for bills and bitmit auctions lol.  I was wondering if you do not reach the goal what will happen. Will you continue to buy and ship the bitfury's or will you refund our coins?  If i missed the post regarding this please point me in the right direction.

Yes, basically we will do all we can to make sure the order goes through and the boards get made. If we end up in October and there's still 2000 chips unaccounted for then we'll probably have to look at refunding peoples money, but if its more like 500, we will buy the remaining chips ourselves and get the order through. I do have a feeling that the chips will all get taken though. The Jon K verification is now in so people don't have to be concerned about being scammed any more, and once we have a working prototype and people realise this is really going to happen, i think the chips will go quite quickly.

Awesome. I currently have been looking into building a custom standalone miner for myself or even just a 2 chip dual power usb miner assuming i can find the proper documentation for the SPI.  Hopefully I can mine enough to buy these soon. I'm getting excited at thought of BitFury rather than BFL or Avalon now xD

Edit: Side Idea.. While Im mining is there any way to say reserve 2 chips if a flood comes from the Avalon issues? Money is tied up for almost a month or i would use paypal to pay =/

Hey.

We don't take reservations without payment, but i'm sure if you are only looking at two chips, there will be some available for you. I can't imagine 2000 chips disappearing too quickly, and if they do, just send me a message and we'll sort you out for two chips.  Wink

I don't think you will have any problems covering the 3,000 chip order, simply because Avalon have dropped the ball with their chip supply so a lot of people will be looking for alternative projects.

I will stick a link to this thread on the Overclockers Australia forum, that will stir up some local interest for you.

Yes i agree. Thats exactly what moved us into the Bitfury stuff in the first place. Originally we were going to do an Avalon based board, but still now months later, don't have any chips.

And cheers for posting it to overclockers. Spread the love!

Just stumbled across this thread. If I order from Australia do I add GST?

No need to add GST.  Smiley

I've gotta say, this is my favorite thread to receive updates on.  Nice work OP, glad you answer the questions presented quickly and address the concerns people raise.  I hope more jump on board soon so we can get these chips ordered!

Cheers Laz. Yes i'll always be here to answer any questions anyone might have. Definitely excited to see the orders coming in and really hoping it picks up in the coming weeks. I believe it will.  Smiley

any idea on the backplane system cost for multiple drillbit system?

The Backplane will be somewhere is the region of $80 to $150. Will post more details when i've got them. :-)

This is not very clear for power:
Quote
the board plugs into a standard USB socket. The power can be supplied by a normal ATX power supply. If you are only running a single board, it may also be powered from a spare disc drive connector.

So one board could be powered with drive power connector, IDE or SATA?
Then when stacking sevral boards, it would require ATX power connecter. What about several stackings,  4 PCB is 60W, so can we use a power supply ATX for several "stackings" ? Can I use a standard ATX power suply to connect up to 'x4=16 boards on that? What would be the requirement of such a power supply?

The USB port is for communication with the "master miner" (like cgminer host) only?

Yes the USB port is for connecting to your cgminer host, PC or Raspberry Pi or whatever system you are using.

The power input on the boards is standard 4 pin molex from an ATX power supply. We don't yet have final power requirements for the boards. The 8 chip board is in final design stage, should be finished this week. Once it is done, i will post exact specs. But basically yes, you will be able to run a fully stacked backplane of 16 boards, or multiple 4 stacks, or multiple singles from one ATX power supply.

Hi,

Why don't you use escrow service to bring more trust ?

Cheers

Hi,

Cheers

Ok Jesse, if we are free to ask anything here is my first question:

1. Why don't you verify yourself by John K. as it is well known method used on this forum?
If you don't want to be verified you can use escrow service provided by John K.

And srsly no one ever bother to ask for it?

Will write to John K now and ask him to verify me.

Cheers

Some people might not be aware that you actually were able to order few of these chips directly through bitfurystrikesback shop.
So holding few chips means actually nothing. 3 days has gone and he still didn't got verified by John K. and is not using escrow.

I have sent my Drivers Licence, Passport and photo of me with my username on a piece of paper to John K. He will be providing verification shortly. I sent it last night, so it will take him as long as it takes from that point. Hope this keeps you happy pajak. :-)

Barntech,

How many chips have to be purchased before you place the order.  I'm concerned about timing and wonder if it would be faster to just buy boards directly from MegaBigMiner.  Granted, their price is higher per Gh but if they can ship a month sooner then that's a big advantage.

Does anyone know at what number the chip counter started at?  2500, 3000, 5000?Huh  It's at 2422 now.  If it started at 2500 we might have to wait a long time for te order to be placed.

PS.  I purchased populated boards via Paypal so I have some skin in the game on this group buy.

Ideally we have all chips accounted for before the chips become available. I have a feeling that they will start to move quicker as the project moves along and we come closer to the chip availability. At that point, if we still haven't made up the 3000 chips, we will still purchase the chips if we're in a range of left over chips that we can cover. I can't exactly say what that is, but basically if October rolls around and there's still a bunch of chips left over, we'll buy the remaining ones so we can get complete the order. Lets see how interest goes in the next couple weeks.

And thanks for placing your order, good to see that number moving.

Cheers.

Any shipping cost estimates for US orders?

Chad

Shipping will be approximately $50 - $90 depending on the shipping type chosen.
373  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 10, 2013, 08:13:40 AM
What happened to the Paypal option on your webpage?

Hey. It's working fine on my end. What is the trouble you're having? Maybe try a different browser?

Working here as well. Did you raise the price from $300 to $310 for the complete system though? When you click on $300 the next pay pal page says $310.

Any estimates on shipping to Europe yet?

Oh, and great news on the compatibility and potential overclocking through a GUI.

Thx,
IAS

Hey.

Yeah the overclocking is looking cool. Will give you the option of running it smooth and stable or cranking it right up if you want to.

Regarding the price, it is $300 for the fully assembled board. If you pay in BTC, thats all you pay. The extra $10 on the paypal option is to cover paypal fees. It is possible to avoid these fees if you send money direct from paypal rather than using a credit card, but yeah, unfortunately, the paypal fees put the price up a bit.

Postage to europe will be somewhere between $40 and $100 depending on the postage type.

Cheers.

I am looking at this as a way to expand on the ASIC miners that I'll probably end up receiving later than this stuff ships!

I am going to be running my rig off a Raspberry Pi, usb hub and CGminer

Will I be able to run my current ASIC set up of 20 Burnins & 2 Klondike 16s and the Drillbit off the same hub, having them all hashing away together using the same worker?

I'm in the same boat. Some day (or rather month) I'll have a Burnin 20 set up and a BFL. Can we run them with a Drillbit? If not it's not a big deal, but nice to know.

I think a lot of guys are open to something new, especially in light of the ongoing Avalon and BFL debacle. It seems like a nice system you are working on, just a question of profitability with the difficulty rising so much. Has anyone run numbers on the December difficulty and profitability?

IAS

Hey guys.

Yes, your Drillbit boards will happily coexist with other ASICs. We are still in the process of sorting out the firmware, so i will have more details about how it will actually run in the coming weeks. We are aiming to make it as plug and play as we can, so mining through cgminer will work just like mining with another ASIC. We are also looking at a standalone GUI to give you direct control over various parts of the board, allowing you to easily adjust voltage and overclocking of the chips.

I joined the forum just the other day with the interest of obtaining some bitfury's, and the drillbit board sounds like a great concept.

I would pull the trigger to participate in this group buy much sooner, pending concept photos and/or actual photos of your drillbit system board, and the couple of bitfury sample chips with a "barntech" on  a piece of paper in the photo, or whatever. It's simple and silly, but it would authenticate the group buy for me personally.

Hey Fear58

Chip photos are now up. Board photos soon.

If it takes 6 weeks to complete your chip order, do you expect you'll be able to meet your October deadline?

I'm interested but after my experience with Avalon and K16s I'll need some encouragement.

Hey Sprint.

Just to clarify, we're not promising an October delivery. We have been told that we will get our hands on the Bitfury chips in October. Once we get the chips, our manufacture turnaround will be quite quick, somewhere in the realm of one to two weeks.

Thing is, there is nothing we can do about when the chips get to us. Having bought into Avalon based stuff myself and still not seen anything, i fully understand your trepidation. As with everything in bitcoin mining land, actually getting stuff when people say you will get it is often pretty dubious. In my communications with megabigpower, from whom we are getting the chips, it seems pretty solid to me that they will indeed be shipping in October, however to be perfectly honest, i will not be surprised if there are delays. Look at the way things have played out with BFL and Avalon.

I know that probably doesn't sound super reassuring, but i am trying to be as honest as i can. What i can promise is that we will do the board manufacture as soon as we get the chips, so if they do come in October, then late Oct / early Nov delivery will happen. Here's hoping there are no crazy delays on chip delivery. I do feel confident based on the communications i have had, but you never no.

Rest assured though, we have our end of things covered.

Hey Pajak.

I know it can be nerve wracking throwing money into a group buy. I currently have money tied up in three others and i haven't seen anything for them yet, but i do trust the operators. This thing is all about trust and i am hoping to build that trust with everyone involved in this group. We are not here to scam anyone. If you ask anyone who has already placed an order in this group buy, i am always here to respond to any questions anyone has, and will happily refund anyone's money if they decide they no longer want to be a part of it. I am excited to see this project through, and roll onto the next and the next, and i certainly wouldn't do myself any favors by scamming people. You can trust this. I know its hard to prove, but i'm doing all i can to make sure that feeling of trust is present in this group buy, and in all the interaction i have with everyone involved. Please feel free to ask me anything. My name is Jesse Ricketson by the way.

Cheers.

Jesse
