Hey I just listened to the show and you did a good job explaining it imo.

edit:I had to change the prices to usd instead of pricing them in btc, unfortunately I can't keep up with the rate changes right now, so it's easier this way for now. Here is the current rate: (Credit to Haxxy for the ticker)

Hey guys! I've been meaning to make a post on the marketplace for a really long time now, and I'm finally getting it together. I'm a commercial artist/illustrator, and I'd like to offer some of my work here for bitcoin, if anyone is interested. My wife is also an illustrator as well, and some of the poster prints are hers as well.

The poster prints were made at a professional printer, and they are on 11" x 17" semi-gloss card stock. I'm attaching a photo of one of them (sorry for the glare). I'm also attaching a thumbnail picture of each of the posters we have available. You can see larger versions of them at our deviant art page's galleries:
http://joeydangerous.deviantart.com/gallery and http://downthe-rabbithole.deviantart.com/gallery

Please let me know if you want me to upload any larger previews of them here.

I'm also attaching a photo of a few of my stickers to show what they look like, as well as a preview of all the different stickers I've done.

The rate is $12 in btc for poster prints. I'll still give discounts if you want to order multiple prints, too. For shipping, I'd ask for $10 in btc to cover any number of prints/stickers shipped to the lower 48 states. For international I'll have to calculate. They'll be put in protective plastic sleeves, and shipped flat between cardboard and in a padded envelope.

For the stickers, they are $0.80 in btc/each. Add $0.50 in btc for shipping for any number of stickers, I can just ship them in a letter envelope.

I'll guarantee safe arrival of everything! PM me if you're interested in ordering anything.

You can also check our web sites: http://www.annsiri.com and http://www.joeydangerous.net (Sorry, I really need to update with new stuff on there!)

We are also open for commercial/private work as well at the moment. We can do illustration, character design, comic pages, logo designs, graphics, character commissions, sketch cards, etc.

Thanks a lot for looking at our work! We appreciate any comments, questions, or suggestions you have. I'm really looking forward to doing more trading using bitcoin!

Thanks for doing it! I've been a FTL listener for years now and I was surprised and happy to hear the ad on there!

oh I didn't know someone was already doing that. Well, you're right, nothing wrong with competition.

Forgive me if someone already posted about this, but I just found out about this. It looks like you follow their portal into amazon.com, give them your bitcoin address, and they send you a small percentage of the purchase price back to you in btc. Looks pretty cool, I'm going to try it next time I buy something on amazon. If anyone else tries it, let us know how it works out.
366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Are You Sold On Bitcoins? on: November 21, 2010, 06:36:14 PM
i've been interested in alternate currencies for about a year and half now, since I completely lost faith in the dollar. When i discovered bitcoin i got really excited about it, it blew my mind! I'm not a hacker or programmer type, so it took a lot of reading to get an understanding of it, but i think it was worth it. as long as it's not made illegal to trade, i think bitcoin will become a widely accepted currency for sure. Also, it really needs to be made more user-friendly so more people like me, or with even less computer knowledge than me, can use it. It seems like there are some brilliant people involved so i think it will happen.

I have noticed that it is mostly libertarian hackers on here! I'm only the first one though, but I still love bitcoin. I already have more faith in it than these dollars we've been using.

Question: If we commission you draw a design, will you permit the design to be released under Creative Commons?

To be honest I don't even believe in intellectual property anymore. I appreciate receiving credit wherever my work is used, but I wouldn't take any legal action either way. So you can pretty much do whatever with my work.
369  Economy / Marketplace / I'm now accepting bitcoin! on: November 18, 2010, 07:20:17 AM
I'm a commercial artist, and I'm going to start accepting bitcoin as payment. I just updated my site and put a bitcoin link on it. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can have my site listed on the trade section on bitcoin.org? That would be really cool for me. My site is www.joeydangerous.net, but soon it's going to be changed to www.joeydangerous.com instead, and the .net won't work, so maybe I should wait to ask? Anyway, if anyone has any ideas let me know. Thanks!

What sort of art do you do?  You could sell that to earn bitcoins. Smiley

I do a lot of types of commercial and personal commission work. Right now my main projects are a graphic novel project and a video game project. I've been needing to update my site for a while, so I just did and included a bitcoin link! My site is at www.JoeyDangerous.net, but soon it'll be a .com.

Thanks for all your responses! I'm really thankful there's so many helpful people on here. I just figured out how to do encryption and I've just got truecrypt. I only have one computer at the moment, and I'm running windows xp unfortunately. I'm an artist by trade and windows runs the programs I need for work best. I'll have to build another computer I think to be able to run linux and store my coins properly.

So maybe I should not keep a copy of my wallet file on my computer when I'm not using it? Is that smart? And just keep 3 copies of the same encrypted file elsewhere when I'm not using it, for instance one flash drive, one sd card, and upload one to dropbox? I haven't used dropbox yet, but I know someone who has and it seems good.

Also, is it common to use multiple wallet files? It seems like as long as I can keep them in folders labeled properly, it would be a good idea and would keep me from losing everything all at once if something bad did happen to one of the wallets.

I think I'm almost ready to start trading bitcoins now. I'm really excited about it.
374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / New to bitcoins, but still kind of confused on: November 17, 2010, 06:06:29 AM
I just learned about bitcoins about 90 minutes ago and all I've done is read everything I can about it. I read the FAQ on the main site and I think I understand the basics of how it works. My brain is really not mathematically wired and I'm not that great with computer stuff, though. It seems like a lot of the people involved so far are really good when it comes to that stuff. So I was hoping to ask for some help here to get myself started.

What I want to do now is trade some USD cash or paypal a few USD into bitcoins if possible, and maybe sell some stuff on this bidding pond site.

My main concern with it is that I'm worried about getting hacked and all my coins stolen. I really have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to anything technical like that, and I was wondering if I should be using any other programs besides virus scan software and spybot to keep myself safe when trading bitcoins.

Also, I want to make sure I'm backing up my data properly so I don't lose them. I used the faq and I think I've located it in a directory that ends with application data\bitcoin. There's a file called wallet.dat thats 104 kb. So each time I do a new transaction, I will need to back up this file only in at least one place? I am thinking of doing it to an sd card as well as a flash drive each time i do anything to be extra safe. So i should just overwrite the file in both locations each time?

Sorry for all the questions, but if anybody can help me out with any of them, I'll appreciate it! If it goes well, I'm thinking of accepting them as payment for my business.

Thanks!
