And the pools report last block found on network "about a minute ago", yet the pools themselves find nothing for hours or days. I have 5 CPU's mining with 95 H/s. What kind of setup is making up the rest of the hashing power? Maybe someone has sorted themselves out with a working GPU miner...

I figure its either:

  • A 20-30000 computer bot-net
  • Someone developed a gpu miner on the quiet
  • The pools are all reporting the wrong network data (I hope its this - but the rate of discovery of blocks by pools would suggest otherwise)

Is there a bounty for a GPU miner?

It's not a botnet. Its an admin with a lot of servers. So its someone who has invested a lot of money and hast costs to cover. I dont know if you guys realise but there wasnt a cryptocoin as exciting since Bitcoin. Thus, this project attracted a lot of people with CPU farms,  many Hero members and people with the skills to optimise code. What do you think would have happened if people had this awareness about crypto in 2009 ? People would have invested big money into mining. This is what is happening. I suggest that if you can't mine, or if you cant mine as much as you would like, buy and buy fast before you regret it.

Even with this explanation, I feel that something is not right. I get the feeling that someone is taking all the blocks...

I have a strong feeling the cudaminer guys already have a working but non optimised gpu miner. Asked on their thread and got a hint-ish response so..

Bittrex tweet says they would like assistance from a dev to add cryptonote coins. Someone should get in touch

Yeah, Bittrex would be a very very good addition. They're also very responsive and fast to add.

Automatic payment went out for moneropool.org. Was everyone paid? TX ID: fb379aa81ce5360ed7d43e9589b9e492d16a09fe5d57d8faa7658fc642f6e44f

Was paided too. Thanks!

yupp, received 0.023 for the first block i participated in and 0.9 for the second.

way too little btw ;P

Where do i see how much i have mined?Huh I'm mining for an hour now, didn't receive shit

maybe the pool didn't find any blocks.

simplewallet: type refresh

i'm thinking about mining in a pool with simpleminer.exe, does this support to select number of threads to mine ?

i have a 8-core cpu, i guess simpleminer.exe will automatically run with 8 threads ?
Type cores=8 to config file

then there's only one instance of simpleminer? or does it still launch 8 windows?

any plans for monero?

Would I be right in saying it seems to be a darkcoin wannabe? I just glanced at their thread briefly.

I just got into it today after seeing that name pop up everywhere.. But it's different from darkcoin and not a fork of bitcoin.

Read through the ann, it's quite interesting.

If I told you, I'd have to kill you.

So, we've found the culprit for the rising diff. Take your time. AND THEN RELEASE IT TO THE PUBLIC!

Could someone recommend good software for this please? I fancy giving it a shot. Ta.

Either Photoshop / Illustrator or Gimp / Inkscape.

so, i'm on moneropool.org, a block was found, theoretically i should receive my share, right?

now the tricky stuff.. i downloaded the blockchain, placed it in the appropriate folder. next i start bitmonerod.exe?

since it does stuff (synching the blockchain?) i'll just let it run for a while.

later i'll just start simplewallet.exe and type "balance". am i correct?

is is ending pow until 20160?

yep , stabilisation of the network ^^

lets hope transition is working without a flaw because it's gaining some nice momentum right now. we even have the first small whales joining.

So looks like I'm averaging about 20h/s, could be higher with all 8 cores and not working simultaneously.

Should I take a shot at solo mining?

Good question - I just sorted out an ubuntu box to mine on, and then noticed the pools.  According to the pool stats I'm putting out 39H/s.. but the concern is the network hash rate is huge.. 572KH/s.

At this stage, it looks like solo mining isn't gonna work?

Moneropool.org says 1.75 .. down from 2.x this morning..

How awesome would it be if you joined forces with Myriad?

Not possible, unfortunately. Remember, the Monero code shares little similarity with anything forked from Bitcoin (Myriadcoin is forked from Zetacoin which is forked from Bitcoin). The RPC APIs are incompatible, the blockchains share no similarity (Monero doesn't even use Berkley DB as a data store), and the way transactions are managed and transferred is equally different.

That having been said, there are definitely features from both coins that the devs can learn from and reimplement, and I think a spirit of cooperation and not competition is important.

Any other dev: look at this! This is how we all move forward.

But I thought so. A person can dream, nonetheless Wink

edit: 13. man i'm blowing this wide open.

edit: 20.73. and that's only 6 of 8 cores.

edit: back down to 10.. pfff..

Small mining guide for people using moneropool.org

Create these 2 batch files in the same map as your simpleminer.exe

start_simpleminer.bat
Code:
:while1
    simpleminer.exe --pool-addr=moneropool.org:5555 --login=YOUR_PUBLIC_ADDRESS_HERE  --pass 123
goto :while1

start_pool_mining.bat
Code:
set /p var="Number of threads: "

set /a "x = 1"
:while1
    if %x% leq %var% (
        start start_simpleminer.bat
        set /a "x = x + 1"
        goto :while1
    )

*********************************

To start mining, just double click "start_pool_mining.bat" and type in the number of threads you want to use.
If one of the threads disconnects, it will automatically try to reconnect.

You should give this a try then. I haven't tried it myself.

I'm using the easy-miner from the OP.

that actually worked.. i'm surprised. thx a lot!

guess i'm mining then.. pool now says i have 4.0 hash / sec.

i'll keep going and return when i need help using the actual wallet Wink

thx a lot for the help, much appreciated!
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 17, 2014, 11:12:59 AM
Network hash is  536.61 KH/sec?

Seems to me all the pools from the OP account for a little over 1% of the network, where are these hashes coming from then?  Huh

 Cool Cool Cool

So, just checking in to see if I'm doing everything right:

I downloaded everything, ran the simplewallet.exe and copied the wallet address from the wallet.bin.address.txt.

it returned 441NWFtLj3adEAkJBahBmQ3ErAawqFATpj9JDkAXr882LL8S8N4bA6tWGjQDPmNuFrejPCefUy4M4NV pNYq9eiZoPK3qEXk. seems to be a working wallet address?

now i'm running the bitmonerod.exe and at the same time simpleminer.exe with the following .bat:
simpleminer.exe --pool-addr=moneropool.org:5555 --login=441NWFtLj3adEAkJBahBmQ3ErAawqFATpj9JDkAXr882LL8S8N4bA6tWGjQDPmNuFrejPCefUy4M4NVpNYq9eiZoPK3qEXk --pass x

it seems i'm mining, pool dash says i have 2.00 hash/sec, i think that's gonna go up over time. i'm running an e5 xeon 8 core 2.67 ghz.

most of the output says "getting next job.. bla bla.. job didn't change". from time to time a nice green "share submitted successfully" comes by. there were like 3 in 5 minutes.

performance monitor indicates a load around 15%. isn't this a bit low?

anyways, feedback would be welcome if everything's ok on my end. thx Smiley

As of now 1 simple miner instance = 1 core, just open more miner instances.

hey cool, a reply, thx.

so i'm just executed the .bat file another 3 times, i now have 4 simpleminer windows running. are they automatically spread out across the several cores?

i just read somehwere there's a flag for the bat file to tell simpleminer how many cores to use?
