I'm just thinking that two currency codes for different denominations is odd. And no one is going to make one code 'official' anyway.
Odd perhaps, but not unprecedented. See for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_z%C5%82otyAs a result of inflation in the early 1990s, the currency underwent redenomination. Thus, on 1 January 1995, 10,000 old złotych (PLZ) became one new złoty (PLN).

+1 for µBitcoin = UBC. I guess UBC will become like decibel, the unit that everyone uses even though it's really a fraction of the base unit (bel).

what happens if I reserve without the d/ in front of the name? it seems to work fine.
It will not be recognized as a domain name, so you have basically just wasted some namecoins.

is it just me or do they no longer have bitcoins as a donation option?
Hm, that has happened within the last 6 hours, the Bitcoin address was there earlier today when I looked at the page.

Ugh, no. I don't think bitcoins need a symbol at all, but if we must have one the thai baht symbol is much better than this.

The easiest way to switch between "accounts" is to use the -datadir switch. Just point bitcoin at an empty directory with this switch and you can use that as your savings account.

One small comment: time stamps without a time zone specification are virtually useless, since you can't know when "10:00" was.

Would you consider creating a namecoin version of instawallet?

I would definitely recommend keeping the card at 80 C or lower. turn the fan up to 100% if necessary, or install extra case fans.

I experimented with putting the bitcoin data directory on a USB flash drive, but it was so incredibly slow that I abandoned the idea. The block chain downloaded at maybe one block a minute.

You have an extra zero in there. A bitcoin is 100 million "satoshis", not 1 billion.

Most currencies don't have a character. For good reasons. They pollute the character zoo and bring all sorts of trouble for no real benefit.

Not necessarily. There are plenty ways to get registered and usually Paypal is the main issue. If you have a good transaction records with, for instance, ebay - we will be able to verify you. How can you verify that the eBay profile I would send you is really me? Anyways, I'll contact you with my eBay name to be able to lurk along and wait until the price is right! If you can send an eBay message from the account you prove that you can log in to that account, at least.

Okay so I am a bit confused here, somewhere it said 20 Approved hashes = 50 Bitcoins, how do approved hashes @ difficulty of 1 (in solo mode) relate to bitcoins?
The current difficulty is 157426. This means that on average you'll need to find that many difficulty 1 hashes in order to hit one that generates a block. Note the "on average" part though, it could be 1 hash or a million, but the average in the long run will be around 157K. Unfortunately though, the "long run" isn't very long, the difficulty is going up by about 40% in a few days.
