I noticed that when you send a message the CPU maxes to 100% for about 2.5 minutes. I assume this is the lengthy ECC crypto algorithm running. Surely this could be offloaded to a GPU using OpenCL.

Hit me up, yo.

Too bad bitcoin-qt can't use your GPU to accelerate re-indexing the block chain. It's already using multiple CPU cores if they're available.

With that said, I doubt any large company will touch Bitcoin until some legal precedent is set. Once set, they'll jump in quickly.
Or run away quickly, depending on the legal precedent.

Because... it's luck? You're looking for an explanation of why a random series of events occurred a certain way?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! He said the L word!

Anyone shorting BTC is simply opening themselves to a world of pain. Have at it.

So I might get paid the 0.26804234 BTC in shelved shares that have been sitting there for months?

For some reason us2 is reported as dead this morning. us3 is fine.

I solved one of the pool's work items offline using oclvanitygen but the submission page says it doesn't accept it. Did I miss something? I did in fact find the pattern.

No it doesn't save them by default. The best strategy for using command line programs is to execute them in a command shell so you don't lose what happened. Better yet, use the -o switch

One does not even imply mentioning the L word. Even indirectly. Silence.

I agree, my problems started with v10 also, and got worse with v11 - which also matches up with the beginning of the bad luck streak. It's just too coincidental me thinks........everything before v10 was grand.......but hey, I'm a noob, and I'm not kidding when I say I still have a lot to learn about this. But just look at that chart - something's wrong.
PatMan, still so sure something is wrong? peace. spiccioli Beware of people who use phrases like "me thinks"

One of the things I always find ironic is how I "discovered" BTC and started mining with a 200 Mh/s 6770 GPU right at the bottom of that first retracement in hash rate and difficulty in Dec 2011. It turns out I caught the almost exactly perfect time to enter as a new miner when difficulty took a big dip.
Difficulty will soon take off hockey stick fashion after the current dip.

fuck you
Wow. What a world class cunthole. Hey, my grandfather always said if you decide to be something, you should always aim to be the best.

Besides p2pool and eligius (and solo), which pools pay directly in mined coins?

this has only earned 13 pages of post due to it being on a womans crotch.

I don't know, why did you bump it? Because of all those nasty razor bumps maybe?

bcpokey and bonkey, while I acknowledge there is some risk in my little $150 purchase, I believe I will have my Jalapeno some time in March or perhaps April since I ordered late. It is not out of any religious fervor for BFL but simply that their story rings true. When reps from the forums visit BFL we'll further see that they really do have a facility and aren't just some pimply faced script kiddies in their moms' basements having a few yucks.

I bought a Jalapeno for slightly more than I paid for my el-Cheapo 6770 board.
If a piker like me can afford an ASIC anyone can. I think there will be more ASIC users than OP thinks.
(Slightly OT, but only time will tell if running the Jalapeno is even worth it when the difficulty jumps 10X - 20X. If not, it was a minor loss for me.)

Fuck you! I don't need no stinkin' pictures. Let's just meetup, and bring an extra shoe in case photos are demanded.
You mean for the oblig "shoe on head" pic?
