I was wondering When does the difficulty change ?
How can I know it ? What is the next difficulty estimate ?
It changes every 2016 blocks, so what you can do, is find out what the next 2016 increment block is, which in this case is 16,128. Then just see how many blocks pass in say, an hour and just estimate how many hours it'll get to 16,128 with the number you got. FYI hovering the mouse over the check mark on the bottom right of your feathercoin-qt client gets you the current block. On another note, I've been doing solo mining, but lately (the last day or so) every few hours or less my feathercoin-qt.exe would stop responding randomly and then I'd have to be on to restart it so my miners can resume mining. Any clue why it does this? It only occurs if I'm solo mining, if I'm mining in a pool it doesn't seem to do it. |

Who here has a load of FC and wants to sponsor some bounties? I was thinking, right now litecoin's difficulty is about 104x harder than feathercoin for mining. also you get 4x as many feathercoins when you mine (200 vs. litecoin's 50 per block) so a rough valuation of 1 ltc= 416 FC?
Oh.. what is the maximum Feathercoins that will be ever created? is it 4x84= 336mill?
Yup 336m... and 1ltc=416fc is kind of vague, because we can technically achieve a difficulty 4x higher than litecoins but still have less total fc if that amount of hashing power was to ever jump in at one time lol. Current prices in the forums are actually around 50-100fc per 1 ltc |

To keep FeatherCoin hashrates segregated, and to dust off my VPS, I have brought up a pool. http://feathercoin.is-a-geek.comIt is a 0% Fee PPLNS pool. Pushpool backend with mmcFE front end. A Few parts of the front end are not working (hashrates, global stats, etc.) But the nuts and bolts appear to be going fine. Feel free to jump on if you want. Awesome! The diff is up to 230k. For a script coin, this is difficult. It's right up with litecoin now.
It's so far away in terms of difficulty from litecoin at this time. Isn't Litecoin only at 337k? Doesn't seem that far away given the rate FC reached 230k. Is this drastic difficulty increase in response to a drastic increase in miners? Or is the difficulty scaling more nuanced? FC is not at 230k and LTC not at 337k LTC is at 364.36 (not k) FC is at 3.5 Derp. I completely misread dustcoin; my apologies. Re: FC difficulty... am I misreading cgminer then? - The Feather wallet says difficulty 3.5
- The connection line in cgminer says "Connected to mine.altpool.com diff 16" which I assumed is the difficulty of work assigned.
- The next line in cgminer says Diff:230k, which I assumed was the network difficulty, but now it sounds like that the specific difficulty of this block?
Someone explained it in an earlier post how cgminer is based on bitcoin difficulty or something. Anyways, just pultiply the wallet difficulyt by 65k and you'll roughly get the cgminer diff. |

Maybe in a week or two? Mincoin came out 2 weeks ago but it still doesn't have an exchange. Then again FC seems to be a lot more popular so hopefully sooner than later. |

Has no one noticed since it started, it's been jumping x4 each retarget? This is the lowest difficulty jump yet at only x3.5... not to mention it's scrypt difficulty is only 3.5 as opposed to litecoin which is 364... so it's x100 away from litecoin still. Besides, difficulty is a good sign of a surviving coin, it's difficulty won't go up unless people support it (unless it's prone to asic, which it's not at the moment). |

hah just launched and already 16.4k dif! huh huh accept=0 its getting harder how much ppl is mining??? anyone have hash info for this yet? edit: [2013-04-17 16:27:40] New block: 0d6e5c544fc1310a... diff 65.5KI know! It's ridiculous, the amount of coins we find gets cut to 1/4 each time difficulty goes up now haha. Gonna need a pool really soon now. Only if I had experience with it, other wise I'd have made one by now  |

I second FC... its release forum seems to have more publicity during its first day than most if not all the other altcoins have had after a few days, so it's probably safe to say it has the "fairest" distribution.

Hopefully someone comes out within the next 24h. Mincoin got one in a day or two and like I said earlier, FTC looks like it's gotten more startup publicity than pretty much all the other alt coins in their release thread.

Tried to get this setup to do solo mining with cgminer using scrypt with no luck. Downloaded the wallet and daemon and ran both. Then opened command prompt and copied the line for cgminer --scrypt -u miner -p SetSomeRandomPassword -o 127.0.0.1:8100 --worksize 256 -g 2 -I 13 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1400 --shaders 2048 and used my username and password as defined in the feathercoin.conf file I created... getting a connection error that no servers could be used. appreciate any help - my first alt coin to try and mine *EDIT* noticed the comment right above me about running the daemon with -server flag. DOH! seems to be getting further at least... Not sure it is doing anything... Might be a stupid question... but did you restart the FTC client after making the .conf file? |

Well, this coin's definitely got a lot of start up attention compared to the other alt coins... In one day we have over 7 day's worth of PPC's thread in comments, 4 days worth of LTC's, 15 days worth over FRC, etc. So from what I get from that, I think this is the most fairly distributed coin so far Anyways I love the feather as opposed to a letter on the logo, so I'd hope for FTC to become mainstream. |
