that board is so long it reminds me of that "bitchin'fast3D 2000" video card joke:

Early glimpse at my new project.
Been bouncing this design around in my head for a while, but decided to finally get off the dime and get one built.

The new, LOW COST, Quintleo 6 rigs rack-shelf unit.

sure looks solid. add castors and just roll em to where you want em.
3603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.1 (Windows/Linux) on: November 18, 2017, 03:19:12 PM

is there a way to set a delay in claymore miner cfg? if no ,any way to delay a startup program in win 10? also any way to startup msi afterburner and load one saved profile auto?
thanks if anyone know please let me know

Use ping 8.8.8.8 -n time
EthDcrminer64.exe -epool (...)

or

timeout /t 60

replace 60 with whatever (in seconds) , put in .bat file as 1st line.

for afterburner, click "apply overclocking at system startup" and just have the profile(s) you want active for each card selected at that point. it will use those profiles.

The slots that are near the edge of the board, are those pcie slots ?  As in could you drop some risers there and run more cards ?

yup. although none of us have tried yet afaik.

i wonder what voltages those 4 pin molex and sata connectors need? I can get 12v/5v via sidehacks adapter but i cant get 3.3v for the sata. if it needs the 3.3v too a server based build is out, i would have to go with an atx psu. i would rather go server psu.

Good question.  I know the sata connector standard does include 3.3V but very few drives actually use it.  I too would much prefer just feeding everything with a server PSU and a PICO, but it doesn't look like that is going to be possible.

the video cards use 3.3v (at least risers provide it) but i wonder how much? hoping the 24 pin connector can provide enough from the pico. depends on how the board designed i suppose.

ordered a g4400 and 8 gb ram, so the Great Experiment will commence next week hopefully Smiley

Got my Onda D8P to post.  Not sure if I needed to connect all the Sata and Molex connectors for my quick smoke test, but decided to do it anyway.  I ran a dedicated Perif/Sata cable to each plug, using up all 6 plugs on my EVGA 1200 P2. Smiley

...

I looked through the BIOS settings and I'm not sure what, if anything, needs tweaking before throwing some GPU's on this thing.

I'm running a G3930 CPU and a DDR4 SODIMM.  It it will take DDR3 as well, that's great as I can probably pull some from one of my older laptops.

Next up will be booting from a SSD with nvOC installed and throw a 1050Ti on it to see if it will mine at the default BIOS settings.

arent ddr3 sodimms 240 pins vs ddr4 260 pins?

just want to confirm: the onda b250 d8p takes ddr4 sodimm?

@phil

mobo is here, arrived perfect. you did a great job packing it.

now just gotta collect the odds and ends it needs. cpu, sodimm, some more adapters (6 pin pcie to molex/sata, already have a pico psu and 6 pin splitters). gonna run it off a sidehack 1200 HP server psu/breakout board.

and damn that thing is big Smiley

yeah  did I use the large flat rate game box with you?

I did most of the shipping with that box.

i think so, its the biggest flat rate box i have seen.

As somebody who had (including the wife's) collectively 27 insurance policies from property liability to death to disability I can tell you most of the terms on home-owner property insurance typically state that anything in excess of 10K in niche field is not covered unless you have a specialized rider policy. I found this out the hard way after losing about $40k in a home burglary and my wife's wedding ring wasn't covered because we didn't have a special policy. I have over 250k of "stuff" that most normal people wouldn't have including Lego collections and tools and of course miners.

Each insurance policy is different, but if you want 100% assurance you have coverage you either need to have an adjuster come out and get a letter in writing or document in video/photos the items you want covered and get a written notice affirming such. Taking somebody's word over the phone is useless.

This.  And watch your mouth on that telephone.  Its all recorded and every single bit of information that you give they will use against you.  For the equipment, to be honest, it probably will not be paid out.  They make money by not paying out money.  But I would say that you run a farm as a hobby and that farm calculates protein strands in the hope of curing cancer (folding).  Good luck though, terrible situation.

i can verify this. they record everything. might be a good idea make notes on every call as to what you said. and ask for  a reference number for the calls for your records. i also ask for 1st name and 1st initial of last name. they are used to this.

@phil

youll probably like this: we are about the pull the trigger on a ground mounted 6 kilowatt solar array with suntracking.  20 cell system with two axis tracking on a single mast. we will almost certainly add a second 6k system identical to that down the line. it will have net metering, so i wont sell back to the electric co, it will just add and subtract power cost as we go.

they are booked out till may next year though Sad so may 2018 it will go in.

Can someone explain how someone not affiliated with Parity got access to the Parity library that all the multisig wallets used? It sounds like there were 2 flaws - one the security flaw that allowed an outsider to get access to the library, secondly the flaw that allowed the owner of the library to be changed .

If the issue was that the library was deleted, surely there was a backup of the library?

Was the library open to the public, and if so, was the reason so that people could run smart contracts using it?

its a production blockchain. a "backup" would be to erase history on the blockchain with a hardfork. and since parity multisig wallets call the deleted library directly you cant just re introduce the library at a different contract/address.

the bug was that anyone could take ownership.

My 3.4 bcc is now worth quite a lot

Earlier this year I had more than 18 BCC. I sold them for a reasonable amount at the time, but now? well... timing is everything. Like if I had held my over 7k LTC mined in 2012. The LTC I sold in 2016 and is funding my crypto forays today, including miners, and other alts.

i sold the about 75% of my bch for around $500ish and bought btc, was happy at the time. im glad i was too lazy to sell the other 25%. its in a paper wallet that i havent split the btc/bch out of. gonna have finally do that..

Side Note, i have still not received any of the money for the GPU's i claimed from hurricane irma water damage. The manufactures deemed all of them UNrepairable except 6, so 6 out 91 are being returned after repaired, rest im kinda unsure what to do about, the insurance company is giving me so much BS about them, i specifically included them on the insurance policy in case of a fire was ever to happen, but apparently having insurance is kinda useless even when you list the items your insuring previous to the accident occurring. Its looking like im gonna have to take my insurance company to court over it with my own lawyer. The insurance company is trying to get out of paying me, claiming that i staged the warranty repair process by informing them of what caused the damage prior to them assessing the GPU's. I am just boggled by this statement, because i was just being honest and upfront of the warranty claim, they act as if being honest is a crime against them or something.

damn.

i would think the water damage would be obvious anyway, so telling them upfront shouldnt make any difference. im actually surprised they repaired 6 of them under warranty.

water damage can cause issues down the line anyway so i wouldnt trust anything electronic that had it.

best of luck.

Apparently Onda just made a new revision for 8 GPU board .

6 pin power instead of Sata and Molex , 8 PIN CPU  and fixed the 24 pin issue .

Still they need to drop the 24 pin  Mobo and 8 pin CPU and install cheap CPU .
MUCH better layout. yeah drop the 24 pin (not worried about the 8 pin cpu). and i actually like the open cpu socket, gives it better options imo. low power "T" processor, or cheapest celeron, or even go with an i7 for cpu mining maybe.
3617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of Increasingly Sophisticated Malware Infection Attempts on: November 06, 2017, 01:41:55 PM
If I was to click on the malicious copy cat site of bittrex for example, could they get my PC infected if I had premium Malwarebytes on? Without me giving them my password and 2fa, of course.

yes. no antivirus is perfect and just visiting a malicious site can get a computer infected without doing a thing (mainly windows computers but mac/*nix are not immune). copycat sites are usually after login/password/2fa but can also leave a nasty surprise behind on your computer.

bookmark the real bittrex (or whatever) and only use the bookmarked site.

any particular reason for binance? i just opened an account there mainly because i am following your lead on this and will get a btg addy ready for mining Smiley

I signed up for Binance from Day 1 mainly due to my long term hold of NEO and their GAS dividend distribution.

Their CEO & Founder is Chinese but had the wisdom to setup shop in Korea due to China Govt meddling.

If you havent used their customer services yet - you will be surprised - fast response - unheard of actually - the other exchanges are so slow -- maybe since their new, workload is manageable.

Personally, compared to the other exchanges that I am using (Bittrex, Poloniex, Coinbase/GDAX...) - Binance trading platform is super fast. Once you get used to the interface - its quite intuitive and simple. It also adopts a vote system for any new coins which is good so that we dont end up with a million coins cluttering the exchange.

thanks for the info. i am in the same exchanges currently (no gdax though, went to sign up but got some error or other, even though i use coinbase to buy/sell to and from fiat. ill try again). always nice to have options Smiley

I am ready to start  when the exchange gives an address.
I am switch in 1 minute once I get address from the exchange.

I am going to mine to an exchange

 https://www.binance.com/

I put a small amount of btc into the exchange and I  used it to buy some  btg  I purchased at 0.19  and it is up higher like 0.24

any particular reason for binance? i just opened an account there mainly because i am following your lead on this and will get a btg addy ready for mining Smiley
3620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kaspersky Discoveres New Cryptocurrency Stealing Trojan Called CrryptoShuffler on: November 05, 2017, 08:59:37 PM
Now that Ive had the malware described to me (read this as a bitcoin headline but didnt click), Im a bit confused. How is this any different that any other trojan that compromises a wallet and steals the keys? maybe this was a simplistic explanation, but seriously there have been programs that hijack wallet clients pretty much since bitcoin started to be worth something. I guess maybe this one can compromise multiple clients with just the one piece of code?

this one monitors the clipboard for a crypto addys and replaces it with it own, similar one. its been around for a long time, well over a year im sure, at least the btc one. im sure newer ones monitor for more.

simple solution: get a hardware wallet for crypto that they support (trezor supports btc/eth/ltc/bcc, a couple others for example). also helps not to install alt wallets willy nilly. not to mentions pirated software in general. *nix/mac helps but they not immune to virii, contrary to what some think.
