Is it not the sunk cost fallacy we just saw play out in Chelsea? Oh by the way, according to Google, the sunk cost fallacy is a phenomenon whereby a person is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it, even when it is clear that abandonment would be more beneficial.

What I can deduce from what has played is that Chelsea have become a business entity rather than a football club with deep social roots. Also, it seems that this unfortunate phenomenon is permeating other football clubs and that a basic community loyalty is being surpassed by the interest in financial gains instead of the community's spirit  .
Anyways back to Potter. The two questions on my mind are
- Where would he go next?
- who is his replacement?

Making the club a profit and business center would be blames on the owners and nobody else, they're no different from the glazer's, I'm still not happy Abrahimovich sold the club. If not for the Russian/Ukraine war, he should still be input with the club.
I feel like he's been targeted before now, so Since they finally had a good chance, they shot the ball into the top corner of the goal. ( Sad )

Leicester so far, I don't know how sure, I'm yet to verify, this is all I have heard from my local TV station saying this. Graham Potter deserves a club like Leicester City and not Chelsea. I have said this before, he's no different from Frank Lampard. Zidane also won't be a good replacement for Graham Potter with Chelsea.
3602  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: April 02, 2023, 01:47:08 PM

Wait, the same frank that built the team that won the Champions league, FIFA club world cup, final etc. the team that was filled with youngsters and people didn't take them serious? Lampard came into management of top clubs too quick and that's just the cause of all his failure. He mightn't have won Chelsea the champion league but he started the journey. As for Graham Potter, he mightn't have proven himself yet in a big way  but he has done small things that are worth acknowledging and that's why Chelsea went for him. No owner will international go for a flop coach to run down his club. Graham Potter not picking up quick at Chelsea doesn't mean he's a shitty coach, look at Jürgen Norbert Klopp, how many years before he took Liverpool to the top of the world?.

We have to let go of the mentality of the old, today a strong team that's playing collectively for each other can make any manage look very good and possibly win them trophies. Don't forget teams now win managers trophies, I mean Chelsea basically won the Europa league for Sarri and giving him his very first title and that's was the lions giving the goats that (loses lockout games and finals) his first trophy to increase his values and made him a hot cake in the management business.  Teams can win trophies too it isn't always about the manager.

Winning games would have kept me shut because at least he's shown some positive results.
You've defended Graham Potter so well, how I wished the defenders he selected for the game yesterday against Aston Villa would have defended better than they did, if they did they wouldn't have scored those both goals, especially the beautiful strike from McGinn.

Graham Potter remains a disaster, tactically poor and not having capabilities of leading Chelsea to a single trophy, not this season not even next season. Was glad seeing Kante, he should feature against Real Madrid soon.

Saturday's transfer gossip:

Paris St-Germain have told Lionel Messi they will pay whatever it takes to keep him, amid reports Barcelona have made contact about a potential return for the Argentina forward, 35. So, given the current financial power of PSG and Barcelona, the obvious question arises, what will win in the end? Heart or money?  Grin
Arsenal are keen on Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni, with Liverpool also said to be interested in the 23-year-old France midfielder. Is Real ready to let him go? The player who should replace Modric?
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says the club have been busy during the international break lining up summer targets and are ready to spend big in the transfer market. The real question is whether Klopp will continue to lead Liverpool after a very disappointing season and especially if they do not qualify for the Champions League next season?

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/65142566

They better get the signature of Victor Oshime to Chelsea done as fast as they can. They won't find it difficult making negotiations with Napoli. Victor Oshime is the perfect signature for Chelsea and most importantly an attacking midfielder.
That's big speculations of Balde leaving Barcelona for Chelsea, when he has full ninty minutes playing time ? That can be, Ben Chiwell likewise is another English player he stays.

Aurelien Tchouameni can be sent on loan to any of the clubs mentioned, if he's not ready yet to replace Modric, the loan spell can be a good exposure for him. Jurgen Klopp better signs the right players and hope's they blend in Into whatever plans he's got else the day of reckoning is approaching.

Disappointing result from Graham Potter again, just when everyone was thinking things have finally turn around for better after a long run of struggling to get back their form they concede yet another embarrassing defeat to Aston Villa, Villa won by a 2 goal margin and move up to 9th position while Chelsea drop to 11th position.
This is clearly a mistake by the Chelsea's players since they're having high ball possession and many shots to target, but they're still not able to score any goal and get beaten by Aston Villa. Many people say Cucurella is one of the best left back player, but he keep made many blunder. Mudryk, one of the potential good striker from Ukraine, haven't contributed anything due to his selfishness.

Despite Haaland didn't play, Manchester City can score 4 goals to Liverpool, it's proven if Manchester CIty is already strong without Haaland, Haaland is just make Manchester City better.

Nice to see Gabriel Jesus's performance came back like he was in beginning week.

I've seen that Chelsea game once again, I watched the highlights of the game only for me to see that poor communication between Cucurella and Koullibaly, though I'll put the blame on Koullibaly because he was the last man standing in the backline, he should learn to calm down and read the game. I wonder why some players would stay so long on the pitch.
Chelsea wasted too much of them chances so I knew they was going to get the game hardtop win, World Cup goalkeeper did make some wonderful saves.

Manchester City are Undisputable, last season without Haaland they won the Premier League so I don't really sre any big deal. Mahrez should have been my man of the match.
3605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 01, 2023, 09:13:05 PM
The speculations of Messi's return to Barcelona are now hitting up and it seems likely that a move can happen in the summer as Barcelona President has mentioned that the club is talking to Messi's camp and discussions taking place already. I think Barcelona is also putting in place measures to satisfy every financial fair play rules if Messi is to join eventually.

As much as they still all want Lionel Messi return when it's not really as smart as it seems even if he returns, he shouldn't be used for attacking options but rather for the attacking midfielder position.
My honest opinion is that Lionel Messi is a gone player, they can go ahead supporting him but Lionel Messi back to Barcelona is not just right thing to do.

President's at times talks and make comments only when it does benefit's. Messi can rather join the Saudi Arabian League instead of waiting.

I just wanna use this opportunity to say a big congratulations to Manchester city for the victory in their match against Liverpool, it was fun watching Manchester city fans in my area jubilate over the win, it was a match I believe several people have looked forward to.

I could not watch the match as I was at work when it was being played, but I expected Manchester city to win and they win with 4 to 1 clean goals, I am happy they are holding strong to their second place in the epl table.
Manchester City performance was really incredible today, I was thinking it will be a difficult match for Manchester City, but it was a easy win for them, I was thinking maybe Liverpool will suprise everyone today just the same way they suprised everyone when they played against Manchester united, but unfortunately they were not lucky today. I wasn't expecting a really wide goal margin in the match, 4-1 is kind of much to me. Congrat to Manchester city!!!

They did incredibly great, to an extent also Rodri should have been sent off after that slight challenge on Cody Gakpo which was ignoreby the official
Jack Grealish was given man of the match I saw but I really thought Mahrez deserves it more than Jack Grealish, I was pleased with Jack Grealish game today, somebody can tell me he did great and I'll find it to be accurate.
Lot of people down my ends are calling for the sack of Jurgen Klopp, I really do think this is not exactly the right timing for the sack.

Kante made it look like he's never been out all this while I mean injured, had some good in runs to distract Villa's defense today, Potter needs to go.
3607  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: March 31, 2023, 09:10:42 AM
Anthony Martial has not been included in Ten Hag's starting line-up, the worry is Marcus Rashford. but according to several sources that I read, Marcus Rashdord recovered from his injury. however, he is a doubt for the game against Newcastle this weekend. but could be involved in some capacity.

The fact that Rashford was able to go on holidays after pulling out of the national team camp due to injury makes me suspicious, I doubt there is any truth to his injury alarms and feel he will be available for selection in the weekend when they face Newcastle United to maintain top three position or probably he will be preserved for the coming game against Sevilla.

I agree. Crucial time's like this we need this players for big games, they might not have lots and enough chances but then one alone is enoyif they can put the goal at the back of the net, I'm actually talking about the game against Newcastle on Sunday.
Marcus Rashford wasn't Injured at all, pulling out made me smile, immediately I was like more time to rest those legs I really hoped Scott Mc Tominay would fill in well for Manchester United as they go against Newcastle.
3608  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: March 31, 2023, 08:45:52 AM
Curse? I still believe that Manchester City and PSG will never get the UCL than Tottenham who will win the EPL in the next few seasons. And also, Antonio Conte's dismissal was not only because they did not win the EPL title, but because of the lack of achievements that Conte got while there.

gap that is not too far away (only 2 points) and Newcastle also has a difference of 2 matches with Tottenham Hotspur.

For Goodness Sake, it's Crystal Clear to me that Antonio Conte  much more ambitious Coach than whatever you really think. He's got no problem with the himself and tactics, you'll have to put the blame on the management. Conte has won everywhere he's gone too but not Tottenham Hotspur ask yourself why ?

Newcastle are more likely to retain that spot from Tottenham Hotspur since they have big dreams of returning to the Champions League next season.
3609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: March 31, 2023, 06:41:02 AM
Barcelona's fixture this week is a really comfortable one which is against Elche away. Because Elche are at the last position and they have been able to collect very few points as well. There is no way they are staying in the La Liga after his horrible performance until now. I don't think they have any motivation to win against Barcelona as well.

Barcelona have also secured their lead very much over Real Madrid though. But this doesn't mean that they wouldn't care about the remaining games too much. Until their title is official they would continue to fight hard for wins. I don't expect any surprises in this game as well.

Comfortable Yeah, but not as we always see, we know that playing against relegated sides are so challenging at the end of the day making life uncomfortable for the players to break them.
Barcelona regardless this season has a very fine form when it comes to away fixtures. This is April, they'll be having tougher game when the leagues about to end.

That lead will stand, the players are so much determined to win the Spanish La Liga trophy this season. I honestly expect them to do so next season. The heart of the defense has improved since Gerrard Pique left.
3610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: March 31, 2023, 06:05:07 AM
Unless Chelsea's winning mentality changes after the international break, then we can we can be hopeful that they can do something in their UEFA Champions League quarter final encounter with Real Madrid because for now, don't see them as major contender for the biggest football trophy in Europe.

We are never contenders until we win the title. In 2021, were we seen as title contenders? No. Nobody usually believe us that we can  it until we do it. People are acting like Real Madrid can't be defeated and they're forgetting that out of our last 4 encounters with Real Madrid, we have won twice and drew one. We won then the last time we meet so it won't be difficult to replicate that success. We might be playing badly but that's in the premier league and not the champions league. We actually have a decent record in the champions league this season even though we are in the worst form we have ever been in the last 20years.

Even though we lose against Real Madrid, it won't be without a fight. We'll surely make them work for it and if they think they can performs those comeback they did in 2022 to win the premier league giants to lift the trophy, I'm sorry to disappoint the fans as that won't be happening this season. I don't even see Real Madrid as title contenders this season. Looking at each teams road to the finals, Napoli are actually the favorites although I still stand behind my club and I know the task ahead of us isn't impossible to achieve.

A Group of Lions headed by a goat are less likely to succeed than a group of goats headed by a Lion, I do not want to downgrade Chelsea for the fact that, they're good European side's till date, but how can you match forward with a team headed by Graham Potter,  Grin.
His best position as a coach alone in the Premier League is ten position, he reminds me so much of Frank Lampard are they any different ? Tell me.

All of this conclusions I agree , being a core fan blue black, and also thick and thin but not with Graham Potter. Please, I don't want to talk about it no more.
3611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 31, 2023, 03:11:22 AM
Is Harry Kane the type of player who values trophies? Nah, he is more concerned about his goal record for both club and country; he does not want to compete for a position in a team, and he fears that if he moves, he will not have as much freedom as he does now at Totteham. Harry will most likely finish his career at Totteham.

Harry Kane is now 29 years old. It may be a bit risky for him to make new beginnings in other teams and to compete with young players. Tottenham fans love him very much. He's had some great records there over the years. It is not difficult to guess that all of the club employees have great respect for him. Maybe he won't win a trophy because he will stay there, but he will be one of the greatest legends in Tottenham history and the wonderful memories that reference him in the following years will be shared. I used to criticize him for staying at Tottenham for a while, but now I find him justified.

He's been such a top professional player, after the game against Ac Milan man was literally pissed, I'm such he desperately wants to leave but he's never showms his emotions in public. Having great records doesn't count if you have no trophy in your profile. All those goals are really nothing if you can't get me to win a single trophy. I think it's high time he moves, cause Tottenham Hotspur doesn't suits him.

Robin Van Persie left Arsenal to Manchester United to win the Premier League when he was 29, Harry can still do same, he's been on the reader of Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
3612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: March 30, 2023, 05:07:34 PM
IMO, if United's players don't have injury issues, or team fitness issues.

manchester united has a long list of injured players, such as:

Anthony Martial = is expected to be fully recovered by April 2nd

Raphael Varane = also has a prediction that he will be recovered from April 2nd

Marcus Rashford = is also expected to be fully recovered by April 2nd

Casemiro = will be able to play from April 15th

all these players will need some time to get their rhythm, I don't know if they will be able to give their all in the game against sevilla, but looking at sevilla's poor performance i think manchester united has a lot of great chances to win in this game, but if sevilla in these games if they show a different team, i.e. they have a good performance then it will be very difficult for manchester united to beat them, sevilla will have games against teams that are also not doing well in the league while manchester united will have very difficult games in the premier league, so we can have an idea of how much each team has improved or deteriorated

I've missed Antonio Martial, he's played few games and those games he has one way has got to be one of the best games Manchester United has played.  I really don't want him.yo leave the club, but it does look like he'll leave. Varane was not really involved in the international duties, I hope they're all set for Newcastle United.

Marcus Rashford wasn't Injured for me, he was only protected all of this are cover ups by the media, Erik Ten Hag is just trying to protect his best player's from injures. Casemiro absence would harm and affect them in the Premier League but his experience would be of high important to bring balance against Sevilla next week.
3613  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 30, 2023, 12:18:40 PM

alluding to Aubameyang, he will not be suitable to play in Bayern, I am pessimistic that Tuchel will bring him to Bayern, especially since he has a bad attitude.

Rumors about who Tuchel will bring to Bayern continue to grow, and big names have appeared, whoever Tuchel will bring to Bayern will definitely have a big role to change Bayern's game pattern for the better than before,

Quote
Reporting from the Sportbible page, Tuchel wants to bring in two Chelsea players, namely Mateo Kovacic and Edouard Mendy. Both are rumored to be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of this season.

Aubameyang has been linked again with a return to Barcelona since he's had a very tough and rough switch to Chelsea this season.
I'm sure he's leaving the club at the end of the season but as for the Mason Mount I don't see him accepting terms with Chelsea soon. I don't think Kovacic also has plans to leave yet, speculations are sure to go round but no so far with Kovacic.

As for Marcus Rashford, there's nothing to worry about, he's going nowhere, PSG, Real Madrid or whatever, he's a complete Manchester United nound player, no moving, he's stucked in with United. He's part of Erik Ten Hag's long term plans.
3614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: March 30, 2023, 08:50:13 AM
It is much more difficult for Real Madrid to win La Liga and Copa del Rey titles now. First, they have several key players injured. As a result, their performance is likely to degrade somewhat. Barcelona is Madrid's main rival for the second La Liga and Copa Del Rey titles. It is difficult for Madrid to win against Barcelona. Madrid has lost four of their last five matches against Barcelona. I would say Real Madrid should focus more on Champions League matches only. If they can continue in the Champions League, Madrid has the possibility to become champions.
Their main focus may already be on the Champions League. but Real Madrid will definitely continue to fight for their best, be it in Laliga or in the Copa del rey. even now I think Real Madrid will try to win in the Copa del rey. because if the Laliga title is already difficult for them to win then they certainly don't want to waste their opportunity in the Copa del rey. even though they lost the first leg. but a thin score will not be too difficult to turn it around in the second leg. But Real Madrid does have several injured players so their performance may indeed be a little disturbed.

Real Madrid has really been a poor side this season especially whenever they've faced Barcelona, Both in the Spanish La Liga and also with the Copa D Rey. The CDR was the most surprising of them all. Real Madrid at home being the favorites failed to win the game not just they had a poor shot on target in that game which was one of them poorest forms in history. They're no doubts up and going but how well would they put up in the champions league? If they get to win against Chelsea, between Bayern Munich and Manchester City, I'm inclined to say it's already a good bye for emm.
3615  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 30, 2023, 08:37:34 AM
Thomas Tuchel first assignment or challenge is going to against the league leaders and is going to be a very tough battle, having Dortmund leading the league with just a point and Bayern Munich who had the chance to stay at the top of the log went on to lose their last game before going for the international break. I know Dortmund won't go soft on this game but neither will Bayern because it will be like a finals for both teams. And the way it is, Bayern would like to impress the newly signed coach Thomas Tuchel. I feel this fixture won't go either ways, is going to be a possible draw to me.
Thomas Tuchel knows the nature of the job of becoming the manager of club like Bayern Munich who sacked their previous manager that only lost three games this season before accepting to take the job and his first test will be to win the match against Borussia Dortmund in Allianz Arena on April 1st. Tuchel is a very experienced coach who knows the best approach to games like this and giving the fact that he game will be played immediately after the international break makes it more and interesting. For me I think Bayern Munich are gonna win the match or at worst will go home with a draw

Handling a big team is not a problem with him especially at the early stage, but later on, he's always had a fallout with his player's at Borrussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germany, Chelsea and I'm not going to make conclusions yet but I be expecting same.
He's know Dortmund, managed them, knows the players strength and weakness, he should use that Information very well to defeat them.

That's a good test for him , I know he would respond very well and wants to impress the management and directors of Bayern Munich.
3616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: March 30, 2023, 08:25:42 AM
The results of this match will be difficult to predict who will win, both Manchester City and Liverpool are big EPL teams, it looks like we will have difficulty betting on this match. I think Manchester City's chances are still to have the upper hand to be able to win, even though with a thin score. But if Liverpool can score first it will give a signal that is quite dangerous that maybe Liverpool will dominate the match. Maybe I would prefer to bet on over 2.5 goals with odds @1.61 considering that the intensity of these two teams is so high, that the goals scored later are not small.

I'm down for Manchester City to win the game without second guessing my thoughts about it, I'm certain to an extent that Manchester City with all of they've got will end up victorious in this game. Being at home makes it easier for them, remember the game against Liepzig? Burnley ? They alla won and played with style with Erling Haaland scoring eight goals in two games.

Liverpool has won Manchester City twice on different occasions this season, I don't underestimate them but with form and injured players they can't face City. At Etihad, it'll be 3 points for City.
3617  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: March 29, 2023, 07:27:15 PM
guys we are not talking about a team from a country where football is non-existent
we are talking about Spain, one of the strongest nations in terms of football
we're talking about the strongest team in spain *Real Madrid*, obviously they won't make life easy for barcelona
Madrid is indeed the strongest team from Spain but it looks like this season it seems difficult for Madrid to catch up with the distance of 12 points if Barcelona continues to be on the winning track in the remaining matches of the Spanish league this season, I think Madrid is more focused on the UCL so it doesn't focus too much on the league at the moment, madrid is of course a club that is always dangerous for barcelona but for now only barcelona knows how to beat madrid.  Grin
I agree with you that Real Madrid is the best club in Spain but you should also take note of this, that each time Barca and Real Madrid are clashing, Barca is a challenge to them especially during the season of Messi and Ronaldo. These two players made El-Clasico very hot. Presently I don't see Real Madrid passion to win the match, maybe I am wrong. Barca will win the Laliga and I don't think that there is any hope for Real Madrid because it is impossible for Barca to be in a bad form to the extend of giving up the league. Real Madrid already are in a league that they know how to play better,so let them stay focus on that and forget about Laliga. Next season could be a better one for them.

Era's as they've always said comes to an end, I think it's the final call for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. They sure had impact's but they're going to be missed definitely. Asides that the game between themselves has brought so much interesting scenes never to be forgotten but they are gone listen up, it's time for the other youngins to shine. Yes Barcelona has all it takes to win the La Liga trophy.
3618  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: March 29, 2023, 07:10:27 PM
Casemiro is a very important player in maintaining the balance of the midfield. Manchester United have been very fortunate to have brought him to Old Trafford this season.
We can imagine if Manchester United didn't have Casemiro this season, they would definitely find it difficult to maintain their victory in various competitions including the European league. Casemiro's role at Manchester United will never be replaced, even if someone fills Casemiro's position when he is absent there may be another name like McTominay or Fred, but these two players are still not good enough to fill the defensive midfielder position.
Without Casemiro, Manchester United will lose balance in midfield. Casemiro absence is a loss for Manchester United, considering that Manchester United's winning percentage is quite high when Casemiro appears.
This has made it difficult for Manchester United to find a suitable replacement for him, but I believe Sabitzer, McTominay, or Fred are capable of replacing Casemiro role in midfield even if they don't completely cover the midfield properly. Erik Ten Hag knows what he is doing and will handle it well.

Ever since got settled in within the club lads and the fans, he has been without doubt one of our best player's for this transfer window.
I don't think he's got a good replacement for him, the only player worthy of repeating what he would do Fred, for he is a better player when he also pairs with Casemiro. Manchester United will definitely be without balance if they lacked a proper defensive midfielder as Casemiro our " Hero "

I was looking forward to the international break ending until I remember it’s Man City vs Liverpool, damn it. Fully expecting LFC to get a humbling at The Etihad. This season has been a disaster for Liverpool fans, I can’t wait fir it to be over  Grin

Arsenal fans, don’t expect any help from us, I expect something like Man City 3-0 LFC.

We have a lot of work to do in the summer, major recruitment needed to get us back to where we belong but I trust Klopp, we will be right back up there next season.

Ever since they put seven great goals past Manchester United they've also failed to score anyone they've faced, I mean Bournemouth, and also Real Madrid, they've been such a poor side this season, with old players they're supposed to terminate contract and also with injured players absent.

I'm inclined to agree yes with the total number of goals,  Manchester City are literally doing all they can to catch up with Arsenal, so they have to make they defeat Liverpool at home. Klopp is not in a good form although he's won twice this season against Manchester City. One during the Premier League and also the community shield.

I'm a little late with the news and I'm too lazy to check the through the thread but I just found out that Nagelsmann was replaced by Tuchel to be Bayern's manager..?  How did that happen?  I thought Nagelsmann was doing pretty well with Bayern Munich.  :/

I guess there's going to be a couple of EPL managers who'll be under threat to be replaced.  Potter and Klopp.  Poch is going to leave PSG after this season too.  I could see Nagelsmann go to Liverpool and Poch to either Man United or Chelsea.

Shit really went down as Thomas Tuchel was so quick to accept the deal from Bayern Munich and Julian Nagelsmann was mind blown and boggled at the same time over the call for his sack with immediate effect.
He's a top manager but them hes had a better display and winning outcomes more from the Champions League than the German Bundesliga. I doubt Jurgen Klopp would be sacked anytime soon, he'll hang around and if nothing gets better next season, he'll be gone for good.

Pochetino is currently jobless, and Manchester United ? I don't think they need a new coach, all need be is for the desired player's be present for the coach to inject his plans. Antonio Conte was the coach recently sacked by Tottenham Hotspur.
