3601  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the safest way to store Bitcoins? on: October 23, 2015, 05:21:31 AM

USB sticks are prone to failure. Btw, it is alright to rename it to any format.

Use multiple ones, 1 usb costs about 3-4$ here. You can easily buy 10 of them and then put them in a faraday box to shield against EMP charges.

I dont know about renaming, certain formats have different encoding and it might fuck up the data. Like if you rename a .mp3 to .txt, and then back to .mp3 it wont work anymore.

On USB or Paper wallet, or any back up have more then 1.  If you just have one and it has something wrong... single point of failure so very bad.

Multiple backup's and you can also do saving on USB and paper wallet.  So you can combine multiple.  And just make sure to store in safe place,  preferably 2 safe places. As you don't want 1 point of failure.

The higher the safety from failure the higher the risk of detection. 1 kind of safety will summon other kinds of risks.

If you have 1 usb and its hidden, but it fails, then its game over.

If you have 2 usb, but 1 gets stolen and the other dont, then its also game over.
3602  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: earn bitcoins quickly on: October 23, 2015, 04:53:32 AM
To earn bitcoins quickly you must have been running some online business. Only with a services associated with bitcoin you can make lot of bitcoins in a short time period. Making exchanges and selling goods are some options to get into bitcoin business.

Well you can also trade stuff in an OTC market, or via mail.

Many people do that, buy stuff on e-bay and sell it for bitcoin to other people.
3603  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud mining, can it still pay out? on: October 23, 2015, 04:51:25 AM

It actually is pretty good right now.  Those of us who made profit at 230... a bump like 270 even is a nice little bump for us.  So the trick is being able to handle low priced mining times.

And the good news is all of the BTC you mined and did not use to pay electricity for example has today's value so your holdings can go up a decent amount as far as USD in just a few weeks.

So you are saying that you turn your mining equipment to half capacity when price is low, and full capacity when price is high? Thats a good strategy.

Or, mine always for maximum capacity, but only dump the coins at high price? This is riskier.

The problem is that difficulty is going up, electricity cost going up, and you need new mining equipment that doesnt ROI for months, to keep up the capacity.

It is though, but doable.

Better always mine full speed, you might end up losing more from not mining than from mining more efficiently. Of course its understandable if you need to pay electricity bill from your BTC earning, but if thats the case, your electricity rate is probably too high to be mining anyways.

At least thats how i see it for home miners.

The problem with this is that some miners under clock nicely.  I have normal electricity nothing special.  And I do pay for electricity so if under clocking brings me more money, I do it.  For example my Avalon 4.1, SP20's are all running under clock as they do it very well and I can run at most efficient electricity.

Running full speed sounds nice but unless free electricity for most it will not work.

Or you can plan for later dumping,  I mean at next halving the price can go to 5000$. Imagine how big ROI that would be.

Bitcoin can go to the moon, this is also need to be considered by miners.
3604  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HI All on: October 23, 2015, 04:49:36 AM
Hi All,

I'm a newbie hobby miner that has been on the forums a couple weeks now.

I decided to get into hobby mining when I started learning about PGP encryption, which lead me to crypto currencies and then here! I had known about BTC for years but did not have the time to get involved. But I got laid off at work so I have time! (there's always an upside haha). I'm a geek but don't work in the tech world so my geek isn't as strong as it used to be. Part of my job is to look at global culture and what trends could possibly influence the future. I think BTC is placed potentially be really important in the future and I want to be a part of that in some small way!

I've found this forum invaluable! and the community is generally awesome.

I'm based in Australia so finding hardware has been a mission but I've picked up an antminer S4 really cheap which is on the way! So learning how to hit the ground running.

I'm planning to start on Kano and CK's pool and try some P2Pool mining in the near future also.

I'm not overly worried about making ROI as I have a cheap rig and free electricity atm. I'm loving the learning experience.

Thanks to everyone who has already helped me! My mind is a sponge atm loving it. If you have any advice I'm always looking to learn more!

Thebonenz Smiley

Wow thats a very inspirational story, yes a mining pool is great, help the bitcoin network, and lower TX fees.

I hope you get many australians joining you, i see you have a big community there!
3605  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how can i earn with bitcoin please? on: October 23, 2015, 04:29:58 AM

I'm already aware about renting my profile signature to advertise a product under my posts. But I'm sure my profile isn't something useful to market any product as I'm a newbie. Can you guys lay me some options as to what to do or where to start to earn bitcoin?

1) Sell some product (music, photo, books)
2) Offer services (whatever you can think of is useful to the community)
3) Catch altcoin giveaways and trade into bitcoin.

Good luck newbie!

3607  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I invest? on: October 23, 2015, 04:25:59 AM
If you have some coins then start lending with proper collateral. This will give you some profits on your bitcoins and quite safe method.

True but you need real qualification and filter, to filter out scams.

Dont lend to anybody below JR level, and the collateral has to be of equal or greater value than the loan.
3608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: October 23, 2015, 04:24:46 AM
Won a little by trading dustcoins on yobit, little-by-little, but its possible to earn some from trading altcoins.

Anyone else is trading altcoins here?
3609  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: good places to hide paper wallet ? on: October 23, 2015, 04:21:44 AM

The clock is quite dated but there are other option in clock if you want that route.  This is more for a mantle but could go on table. - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045Z4MDC?keywords=concellment%20clock&qid=1445573664&ref_=sr_1_sc_1&sr=8-1-spell

It looks a lot more modern and would not look out of place on a mantle.   I would go more for this on a clock if picking.

My great grandmother had a big clock in the old family house from the 1800's, I could hide it there, it would be a great place to hide, because nobody would look there.

Shit, now they would because I just told my good hiding place on an internet forum.

Guys, c`mon this thread is a tutorial for burglars, don't be morons, don't tell about good hiding places on the internet!
3610  Other / Off-topic / Re: DO YOU HAVE 1 BITCOIN? on: October 23, 2015, 04:19:16 AM
Yeah finally I reach BTC 1 and I need over a year to achieve that.
I need many effort to get it and that's not easy at all. But I'm glad that I can earn bitcoin and I can pay my own college fee

I bought bitcoin so it was like 30 minutes, but yes I agree its very hard to earn bitcoin nowadays, and it works mostly through sig campaigns or other services.

It is still a very very new industry and it takes a lot of time to move through and find opportunities.
3611  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud mining, can it still pay out? on: October 23, 2015, 04:15:50 AM
list 10 cloud miner sites that dont close over a year lol its all ponzi

Probably you had bad experiences on cloud mining sites and you only tried those ponzi ones, if that's so we're the same Cheesy I also see cloudmining sites as a disguised ponzi but after some research I found cloudmining sites that's legit and not a ponzi. One good example was bit x. Also hashnest was a legit one and probably there are more legit cloud mining sites.

Yes I also had bad experience with my cloud mining. Earning was very much little that may be due to the amount of hash power I have bought. But when bitcoin prices down surged, they paid out in negative with the reason of maintenance charges.

It's sad but you really do have to research before any investment.  Cloud mining is so full of scammers I suggest even more then normal researching time.

But also once sure it is legit.  Do ROI math to.  Just like hardware mining you have to do ROI math to see if it makes sense at that current time.

But its not that cloudmining is ponzi or not, its the fact that mining itself is getting less and less profitable.

As the competition grows, the profit margin shrunks. And mining is a very competitive game nowadays, not to mention that the difficulty rises, and the cost of operation too.
3612  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many bitcoins do you have to sell to make a living? on: October 23, 2015, 04:12:46 AM
If my dream comes true then 1 bitcoin will be enough for your entire life. If not then at least 100 Cheesy

Look bitcoin will probably have a shiny future , its the saviour of humanity!

I also have the same dream.
If the bitcoin price hit again it's peak price, I must need at least 1000 bitcoins to make a luxurious life. Half is enough for a decent life. But getting 1000 or 500 bitcoins is not possible now a days due to high difficulties and competition.

It is already going up, so i`m looking forward to hit 400-500$ by the end of the year, but anything is possible.

Next summer when the halving happens, it could go to 10,000$ or even higher.
3613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Safe Bitcoin Downloads Website? on: October 23, 2015, 04:11:52 AM
I don't understand. Which applications? All of the Bitcoin software you can download from official Web sites. You can check them for viruses on www.virustotal.com.
Use virustotal and use only developers/officials apps websites. Never 3rd party ones.

Is this Virustotal is a reliable source for detecting any virus on the downloading applications? I have not heard about their services. But I guess it would be more useful when we mistakenly download applications from the wrong sites.

Well yes. It run through a server that run it through all the detection libraries list it display. Its not new at all, but you should not need it in the first place(for this, its actually pretty useful otherwise), if you dont download crap from shifty website.

Stick to bitcoin.org and the direct links to different wallets and you'll be a-ok.

Yep i found it a very useful virus checking tool, you can also check the download link first before downloading, that way you can definitely make sure no virus gets on your pc.
3614  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Most Secure bitcoin wallet ? on: October 23, 2015, 04:10:06 AM

But most secure in the sense not vulnerable from cyber attack or system crash.
To solve system crash, we must need multiple back ups.
To prevent  attack or hacking, we must go with strong encryption with long multi-character set password.

And opensource + audited software, your passwords is not worth anything if you have a tampered software or a keylogger.

Secret hidden safe under sliding floor

or you can use clock with hidden place like this

I`ve never seen a clock like that, but its possible.

However if the burglar comes equipped with metal detector, he can detect any precious stuff in there.
3616  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: October 23, 2015, 03:52:07 AM

Thanks for feedback. We are not really that far in understanding, and my time constraints me to discontinue now.

To the final comment by you, a laconic reply: "What if it is not in their intention, to do it right?"

Integration in my dictionary doesn't mean to shove millions of people in 1 small place and give them welfare.

Integration means that first you teach them the language and the culture to the migrants, in their home country (via schools, media , fashion, sports, etc) to have a respect for that new culture , and only then move them , slowly to the new place, and also preparing the local people for this via the same methods.

If they dont do this, then the new migrants will feel hostile, isolated, and will start forming gangs, and then the locals will form "resistance" movements, and then violence and even genocide can happen.

Look at what happened in New York with the ghettos. USA was pretty much the most tolerant country on earth for migrants until the slavery was abolished, but in the minds of people it wasnt. The blacks, although free now, still feel hostile and isolated, thats why all the gang behaviour and violence is happening now.

You have to educate both cultures and the media and every social events have to reflect friendship between cultures. Anti racism laws will just put more gasoline on the fire, because they reinforce the tribalist illusion.

If you issue anti racist laws, then you reinforce in the minds of both parties that there is 2 separate tribes that are in conflict. That is not how you achieve unified culture.

NXT is back in top 10

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/nxt/

It is not a scam, it is however on the path to the moon, at least that is what my senses tell me. All of us could be rich if we buy now Smiley

3618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: October 23, 2015, 03:29:45 AM
Yep and my prediction is fulfilled, NXT is back in the top 10

http://coinmarketcap.com/all/

I am very excited now, as you can see the price is going up, who knows what surprizes NXT has for us. If this goes the way I think then we will soon all buy a Lamborghini Cheesy
3619  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin Religion? on: October 23, 2015, 03:04:18 AM
I think this religion already exists in some form or another among the myriad of other world religions.  Sounds like a combination of Freemasonry (brotherhood, community), Paganism (worship of money, Wall street), Scientology (worship of the individual ego) etc
That being said, if the members of this new "religion" get the price up to $1000...

Yes its more like a brotherhood, since 90% of us are males so it make sense.

I`m not sure what panagism you are refering too, probably the mysticism of satoshi and his mystical identity and personality?

It would be an interesting experiment, and it would really create a media coverage for us. Plus it could make bitcoin tax exempt since it would be a religious tool. Think about it Cheesy
3620  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: October 22, 2015, 12:34:46 PM

Still things that are burned in though and imo if science was to find a way of forcing them out of us we'd lose the ability to evolve after a few generations. I'm not saying we can't all co-exist in a far more peaceful state than we do now btw, just that we cant all live by a single set of universal rules. Brehon law worked for hundreds of years by allowing for that, a few rules that everyone agreed on, regional rules that varied, local rules that varied way more, folks could live around each other peacefully with higher judgement there if they needed it and when they moved around they respected the laws of the locality far more. Thinking we can draw a line on a map and say everyone inside that line lives this way is stupid but it's required for centralised authority.

But their flexible system was their doom eventually (since the outside invaders had the same internal system that was better and overruled them eventually).

If you unite all people on earth, there will be no outsiders to worry about. (unless some aliens come, but I doubt that's likely)

If you let everybody wander around then they will form gangs, tribes, kingdoms, and the wars and genocides start again.

You can choose for a 200-300 year periodic revolutions, or you can end the violence once and for all by removing the "animal" part from humans.
