You are deliberating missing what an exponential rise is.
How so? After that 300th, there would be another 600 the following month and another 1200 2 months after, 2400 etc. Who do you think is creating all that new hardware? People don't just pick it up at the neighborhood Walmart.

I felt the chips on the second pic don't look very natural.
Yeah, they look like they're just sitting on top of the board, not actually mounted to it. Fake.

Shipping always starts the last half of whatever the current month is... "Bitforce SC (ASIC) products are in final stage development with initial shipping scheduled for the last half of October 2012." "Bitforce SC (ASIC) products are in final stage development with initial shipping scheduled for the last half of November 2012." "Bitforce SC (ASIC) products are in final stage development with initial shipping scheduled for the last half of December 2012." "Bitforce SC (ASIC) products are in final stage development with initial shipping scheduled for the last half of January 2013." "Bitforce SC (ASIC) products are in final stage development with initial shipping scheduled for the last half of February 2013." "Bitforce SC (ASIC) products are in final stage development with initial shipping scheduled for the last half of March 2013." "Bitforce SC (ASIC) products are in final stage development with initial shipping scheduled for the last half of April 2013."
FTFY.

Hi,
Below I've copy/pasted my introduction from the Newbie forum. In summary, we're buying Avalon ASICs, at a fair value to current and expected rates. We would be willing to pay $20,000 per batch 1. I saw pre-orders on ebay selling for 19-20K but that all looked scammy. If you're in the US and have an ASIC let me know, we'd be happy to fly someone out and do the transaction in person with you. We're serious in what we do
As a buyer you may think $20k is fair value, but as a seller your offer is an insult. Avalon is making 4.5 BTC/day at the newly adjusted network rate. In 3 months that's 400 BTC, so that's a good starting point. I would only accept BTC offers. Any other payment method is not worth the risk.

Would it be possible to get a new shipping estimate from an official BFL employee?
I didn't find up to date information on the BFL website.
Asking on the official BFL forums, I only got trolled & ridiculed, no valuable information was given to me.
It's right on the order page. Pre-order Terms: Bitforce SC (ASIC) products are in final stage development with initial shipping scheduled for the last half of April 2013. Products are shipped according to placement in the order queue, and delivery may take 2 months or more after order. All sales are final.

Hopefully there will be a demonstration of a functional product before any pre-orders/purchase are available!
Keep dreaming. We all know they'll take a lot of money before having/showing a real product.

We will in the upcoming weeks opening our order book to allow the purchase of our first set of ASIC miners. They are in the early stages of development now and will be ready in the summer of 2013 (yes in just a few months)
No, they won't. You don't understand how difficult the process is to create your own working Bitcoin mining ASIC.

Bitpay needs to shut that down asap.

Looks decent. Can you resize it so that one module has the same cross section as a fan. That way each module can be fitted in a nice case with one fan blowing across the heatsink. I think those would work quite well.
How about an 80mm fan? Put 16 chips in a 4x4 arrangement, and you'd have a really nice little 4 GH/s box.

I've spent quite a bit of time hacking on the Avalon(s) the last few days thanks to Aseras and then Xiangfu giving me access to them. I've come to the conclusion that any latency issues that prevent it mining on p2pool should be resolved in the next cgminer release incorporating the changes I've committed to the code. The max latency for restart should be on the order of 100ms now which is fine even for 10s longpolls. Hopefully it will talk to p2pool better via stratum as well.
Truly impressive. I can't wait to see a bunch of ASICs join p2pool.

But again, this has nothing to do with me. I don't see how accepting my paid-for hardware, or posting pictures of it taken by BFL, makes me in any way a party to the bet or somehow a "scammer". That is complete nonsense.
The only reason the bet was called into question was due to your deceitful post. So, yeah, you are a party to the scam.

If an alt coin that has proof of stake (currently only ppcoin) became popular, would bitcoin implement it?
No. Bitcoin is and always will be proof of work.
|
|
|
And don't ask me when your order is going to ship.
How dare you customers ask when you'll get the product you ordered last year! Just remember, "all sales are final".

Moving a miniscule bit of data from one column to another should be so cheap that it may as well be free for most practical purposes. You'd have to cock your decentralized payment system up unbelievably badly to need to charge anything like what most of the conventional online payment systems do.
That's true if you don't care about security. But if you want that miniscule bit of data to be secure, there is a real cost to achieving that security.

Ignore the trolls. I've had my Little Single (ASIC) for nearly a week now, and it's working fine.
What happened to Exodus-20-16? You do not "have" the device. BFL has it sitting on their desk, using their internet connection, powered by their electricity.

Wheres Josh and his rebuttals? I miss Josh the troller.
He sure liked to smack-talk Avalon. Now that Avalon has shipped quiet a few units, and BFL power usage has skyrocketed while performance has plummeted, Josh has sure been quiet. Come on, Josh. Make fun of all those Avalons cranking out 5 BTC/day.

Word from BFL: "will likely ship sometime in late July or early August, sooner if possible."
Oh god, half a year wait.
Let me guess. You're new here? They've been saying they'll ship in October, then November, then December, then January, then February, then March, and now April. They've shipped absolutely nothing the whole time. You can't honestly believe you'll get a device in July/August. If you're lucky, you'll have it just in time for Christmas.
|
|
|
Sucker. There is zero chance of you getting your product in 2 months.
|
|
|
I was going to order the $650 yesterday.
Seriously.
But not having any shipped and reading about their power consumption issues is what held me back.
I think I'm more upset they raised the price than I didn't preorder.
Use the $650 to buy bitcoins and in 6 months when BFL starts shipping, you'll look at the value of your bitcoins and be so glad you didn't waste your money on a pre-order now.

The true side might have won due to the timezone thing and some other factors, but it's close enough that BoB is justified in calling it a draw IMO.
No, it's not even close. There are numerous points that are clear cut to anyone with half a brain. I sure wish I could use the ignore button on admins.
