Noam Chomsky On The Original Meaning Of Libertarian
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj793e8Ss4w

...Before the word got co-opted by free market propagandists:

"Remember that the United States is out of the world on this type of thing. Britain is to a limited extent, but the United States is on Mars. So here, the term 'libertarian' means the opposite of what it always meant in history. 'Libertarian' throughout European history meant 'socialist-anarchist.' The worker's movement--the socialist movement--sort of broke into 2 branches, one statist, one anti-statist. The statist branch led to Bolshevism and Lenin and Trotsky and so on; the anti-statist branch, which included left-Marxists like Rosa Luxumberg, kind of merged with a big strain of anarchism into what was called 'libertarian socialism.' So 'libertarian' in Europe always meant 'socialist.' Here, it means ultra-Ayn Rand or Cato Institute or something like that. But that's a special US usage having to do with the--there are a lot of things special here."

Well, classical liberalism was equivalent to US libertarianism, so thanks, Chomsky, for throwing stones from your glass house.
3602  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Shit's about to get real. Change my name! on: October 09, 2014, 07:51:16 PM
Wow, i respect your decision...

But do you know those guys who make a tattoo of their girlfriend just to find out that there's an even better woman on the planet they will love in future?

I was hyped about bitcoin, too the last years until I found there is "Gridcoin" which provides real value by not wasting electricity but putting it into scientific projects. Now, if i had tattoed "Satoshi" or "Bitcoin" on my belly, today would be the day I would laser it just to make a new tattoo with "Gridcoin" on it. The same goes for your name.

Think about it Smiley But however, this is a creative idea  Smiley

It's not about hype for me, but the sponsor(s) are free to use this project for their own hype. Middle names are rarely revealed in the US and as I said in the OP, S is already my middle initial. As I have a Japanese affinity, even if bitcoin goes to hell, Japan won't simultaneously do the same, or erase all the good memories I have.

why you need change your name ? respect your parents.

There are some parents that want to name their baby girl Satoshi Bitcoin... These acts should be forbidden somehow.

I wouldn't want to be called AMIGA or Z80 just because my parents liked computers.

yes, the parents should thinking what happen if the name will be out to date. I mean what happen if in 10 years bitcoin / satoshi no longer exist, every years we got new stuff and technology coming in.

Well, Satoshi is a real Japanese name, so I don't see any problem with the hype fading away.

Exactly. Satoshi is a pretty generic name too. It would be explicitly bitcoin-related if I wanted to change my middle name to Nakamoto-Satoshi.

My parents have called me by new name since 2008.
3603  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ive Never Met a Poor or Non-White Libertarian on: October 09, 2014, 07:31:17 PM
The problem with libertarianism it that it doesn't provide poor people with freedom, only freedom for the rich to get even richer. I'm all up for liberty from the state etc but there has to be some institutions in place to care for the poor, elderly and sick.

You use that term freedom...I do not think you understand what it is.

Freedom ≠ crony capitalism.

I have a punch set for sale. I think the only way to distinguish upper and lowercase is to turn them sideways for lowercase.
3606  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: October 07, 2014, 10:08:48 PM
I'm selling my 1.84915808 BTC debt owed by Bitfloor, to a lawyer who will use legal means (a lien, or?) to be compensated by the owner and/or thief.

I have not been refunded this BTC amount since the Bitfloor hack reported here: http://bitcoinmagazine.com/2139/bitfloor-hacked-250000-missing/ - and to my knowledge, nearly all of the "hacked" BTC has not been refunded to all Bitfloor customers, so my debt is just a drop in the bucket.

My account/BTC ownership/debt will be legally transferred to you. I took screenshots before the site went down.

When I decrypt BW's backup with openssl, it looks like there's a 12-word seed at/near the top of the output. Is that standard to be imported to other clients?

Logically, this is a match made in hell... George Clooney, friend of the most successful human rights violator living on the planet, marries Amal Alamuddin, a human rights attorney. It would be like Dr. Ruth Westheimer the Israeli sniper, marrying Adolf Hitler.

Alamuddin needs to put all living US presidents in the dock at the ICC, for war crimes.
3610  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Beheading in Oklahoma on: October 07, 2014, 09:22:33 PM
The liberal media and politicians will soon be labeling this one "workplace violence" and calling for knife control.

I'd rather see more control exercised over Muslims, blacks, criminals and immigrants but what do I know? I don't have a liberal arts degree.

Yes, exercise control over those classes, so they can't save YOUR life when it's your turn for execution.

If Russia does not summarily execute all bitcoin suspects, bitcoin will not be affected.

3615  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cops stealing $50k on: October 07, 2014, 04:07:02 AM
This is why anytime you have any interaction with the police you always record it.

There are no good cops.

Cops need to send a no-nonsense message across to criminals, which is why they act rough most of the times.
As long as they don't cross the line, I don't mind a rough-and-tough cop.

The line is crossed the second they "just follow orders" and enforce anti-rights laws.
3616  Other / Politics & Society / Re: #DisruptSpeciesism - Kelly on: October 07, 2014, 03:55:15 AM
Malnutrition by choice is self-harm/violence. I couldn't even get through one year of "proper diet"+B12/iron shots pescetarianism without getting morbidly underweight and had to go back to eating all animals. Also, my sister has been pescetarian for like 25 years or so, and she's morbidly obese unlike everyone else in her bloodline. My amateur diagnosis is extreme amounts of soy substitution causing estrogen imbalance, and anemia runs on our mom's side, making her need to consume more calories and sugar for energy, making everything including her attempts at regular exercise, to go to shit.
3617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is old 3.5 floppy safer than USB drive for cold storage? on: October 07, 2014, 03:42:39 AM
Put my really old backup 3.5 floppies in a PC, the drive made some noise, and they failed to be read. Pretty sure they never got near a magnet...

3619  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoins in space! on: October 07, 2014, 01:45:32 AM
Particularly, whether the BitSat would carry the full blockchain or hashed UTXO with a confirmed depth only?

As revealed at June's Bitcoin Beltway conference, the BitSat satellites will carry the full blockchain, and fully validate every block sent to it.

This is in contrast with other systems that simply broadcast a datastream without validation, and therefore require much higher levels of trust than with BitSat.

Is it going to be bootstrapped as high as possible before launch, or will it have to download the entire blockchain while in orbit? LOL

I don't think people should be forced to use public infrastructure and services, simply because tax whores won't allow competition.

Need a strong and honest government to build up massive bullet train infrastructure like the one in China.

Private company and local goverment do not have the economic power and law on their side to do project at such scale.

LOL, China, which according to post-2010 documentaries, segregates its own people by province/economic status and restricts the right to travel (amongst many other non-train related tyranny), an "honest" government.
