cablez sells quality made to order on this site.  not sure if he will be low enough for your tastes.

he uses 16 gauge wire.

I would like to see the evga link at 6$ a cable as I have a lot of evga psu's

this is a link for full sets

http://www.evga.com/Products/ProductList.aspx?type=10&family=Power+Supplies&chipset=+Power+Supply+Cable+Set+(Individually+Sleeved)
Thanks for dropping Cablez's name.

Yep, that is the set i calculated the 6$/cable from, which i find fairly pricy since that's 3-4 time the cost of the materials. There's also the issue where there's some cables i don't need.

These switches are pretty sexy. https://i.imgur.com/HmYgX.jpg

Unless i missed his more current method of selling his products (i checked the link in his sig); I see Cablez's thread has been dead for 5~ months. If i don't find a better alternative i think i will ask him for a quote, i am however wondering if it would be worth the shipping to Canada.

he made me 4 seasonic cables

I have been using them since July 2014 24/7/365

I run 2 s-3's at freq 206 about 420gh 2 cables for each s-3 and a 1000 watt platinum seasonic. can't complain 13 months with about 1 day of down time due to internet/power outages.

short answer is it varies some can mix some can not.

I never did yellow jacket miners. I do not know how to mix them.

31 minutes since the network has solved a block... is that a long time or is it just me

Meh... they are all slow today

2 days ago I saw 57 minutes since the network solved a block, it was a period where about 70Ph fell off for a while, since the diff is based on network hash, then saw a large pool has issues and network looses 70ph, blocks can get quite long. I see that as an issue if say China lost all internet in a massive attack or natural disaster. Since more then 60% of all the hash is in China, we would be in deep dodo with blocks going days!

Maybe China should lose internet more often.  Roll Eyes

They already have too much hash and could do with less. A big portion of the hash is there and it kinda feel like centralization to me.

I agree, less hash from China. But with the diff at 52+ it would take months if not years for the network diff if reduce enough to get 10 min block if 60-70 percent of the hash went away. The remaining miners would have to fork the chain to get back to 10m blocks in a reasonable time frame. My 2 cents
No, it would take to the next 2016 block re-adjustment to go down appropriately, at most two.  If we lost 60% of the hash rate today, next week the diff would adjust downward significantly and the following 2016 block adjustment would finish it off.
you are correct if 1/2 the network crashed today the time needed would double. We are 4.5 days out so that would mean 9 days. Then the next one would be about 21 days
36147  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Hardware recommendations on: August 04, 2015, 03:35:56 AM
If i am selling cloud hash power, what hardware should i use? >$20k

I just need some recommendations to get started i guess

What does your power cost?
Rather then running cloud or self mine you can rent your rigs on MRR

I suggest s-3 if you have low power cost under 5 cents.
36148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sooooo China, isn't this shameful? on: August 04, 2015, 02:55:23 AM
Excuse me if this is a newbie question but.... is there some reward for running a node?

Because it is likely that not many people would run one if they have nothing to gain from it.

This was exactly the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread.  I wish there was some reward for running a full node as it helps the network.

gogxmagog I agree.  But you can't expect altruism.  I think for some idealistic people bitcoin is a great cause, be your own bank and all that.  But for many, and not just Chinese, it is a business, and if no clear benefit to running a node, they wont.

Question for OP, how many nodes should they run?

well my node cost 32 watts to run.  which is about .75 kwatt per day or  21-22 kwatts a month  which for summer rates = $3.60 usd  each month for winter $ 2.60 USD

I also use my node pc to mine  using cgminer and sidehack's usb sticks so one could argue  my true cost is under 32 watts.  either way  getting 2 bucks usd each month to run a node would be nice.

Okay I was not able to withdraw my NMC so I guess it is not quite fixed yet.
Can you withdraw now? Possibly the hot wallet for NMC was low. As part of the upgrade I had to create a new wallet and transfer funds to it.

no I get null
Thanks, found the issue and I'm working on a fix.

No pressure for spend/withdraw but it is still down

36150  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cloudthink's New Imperator 8TH bitcoin miner. on: August 04, 2015, 02:39:51 AM
It has sat on the other thread for 2+ hours.  I guess the guy was fishing for info on members.

Before it gets deleted from the main, moderated thread.

Can't speak to this latest scam, but I can tell you the $199 S5's is a scam. Stupid me, I was running late for a family trip and I ran across a story and ad for the S5 liquidation sale. I failed to do extensive research on this POS company and ordered a bunch, actually 3 orders in total for me and a couple friends that took my advice.

See link of the orders, payments and emails for the hardware I order from them. I am in the US, so its 14.04 BTC but just filed a claim on the UK fraud site and they had me convert the loss to Pounds. I have a buddy in the UK and asked him to stop by the corporate address to see is anyone is there. Nothing, there was a women that came to the door, but knew nothing about any CloudThink company and said she works for the real estate office thats at that address.

At least a dozen emails to support address via website and direct email, called toll free number daily and also plays a looping msg that all agents are busy them drops call after 3 loops. No response of any kind. Its almost 3 weeks now and nothing!

The below dropbox link is a PDF with most of the evidence, I have a few more things, so if anyone would like any additional proof. Please ask!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/qc7yygpe9empovm/CT%20Order%20Proof.pdf?dl=0

I have reported them to Action Fraud Team in the UK, CRN:NFRC150701127117. Trying to see what other agency I can report this fraud to, I'm out over 2,500 pounds and I'm sure there are many other victims of both the cloud mining scam and the recent hardware sale scam.

Even if you can't get one of their new units, their website suggests that you buy an S5 for $199.  Might be a good consolation prize.

While I told them I'd be happy to review a test unit for them, I can tell you that this alone raises red flags for me.

There's no reason to sell an S5 for $199. The market price is twice that.

The hardware has been used, this is why the price is so low. We no longer need this equipment.

How about you refund my 14 BTC or actually ship me the S5's I ordered 3 weeks ago!

36151  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ANN] [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for Europe on: August 04, 2015, 02:37:06 AM
If MacEntyre wasn't manufacturing PCBs and all parts placement in Europe but sending it to China instead, I would not have licensed the design to him.

I'll sell to folks in Europe (now with his blessing) but I will not lie on the customs forms.

The substantial price difference attributed to our in-house assembly explains why we're broke all the time. Low margins. I didn't realize his cost would be that much different. It's pretty surprising.

I used to tear down new mac minis back in 2006-2009 the white plastic top models.  I sold a lot to Europe and to Israel  over time shipping overseas became more difficult and costly. UK rules got worse US post office rules got worse and basically I ended my mac mini upgrade business first over seas and now in the usa.  Unfortunately Europeans pay a lot for vat and import.

36153  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ANN] [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for Europe on: August 03, 2015, 03:49:55 PM
Just wanted to know what makes up for the difference in price between the US made ones and these. I assume it's not only the heatsink Smiley Probably the US ones are without VAT? So that would bring it down to 40 each?

I'm interested in a few to play with but theres a bit of a gap between both sides of the lake Wink

I expected exactly this question. I even thought about adding a statement in the original post. Then I decided to start a stopwatch and see how long it takes until the question comes.
The main reasons for the price difference are:

  • VAT of 19%
  • Parts cost: (I didn't replace quality parts from sidehack's parts list with cheaper equivalents. Quality first. Just for example: only parts cost (without ASICs, PCB, Screws and Heat sink) are 10 EUR (+ VAT). For small lots like the 800 one doesn't get much discount. Significant discounts start from quantities > 3000.
  • Manufacturing in EU: The biggest advantage of GekkoScience is: they manufacture by themselves. This is indeed the biggest cost factor, programming, stencils, pick & place, setup costs. Btw. I refuse to order PCB and assembly in China. Why? Quality first and I strongly believe that we have enough problems in EU which we don't solve if we order cheap and even cheaper crap in China. Stencils are from France, Heat sinks from a reseller in Italy (originally from Japan), as well as PP boxes.
  • Including shipping: Shipping of 1-3 pcs. is ~ 9,79 EUR to most EU countries. Pick and place fee + volume charge + country charge.

The price is fair, I simply can't keep pace with GekkoScience's in-house production (and the VAT factor, of course).

I bet that you don't get it in hand for 49,95 EUR if you import it by yourself from the US: International shipping charge, customs, customs declaration service of the shipper, import sales tax and all the paperwork and mess around. I did it some times in the past and it was always a mess and made a 30$ product a 70 EUR experience in hand (and I had a much better dollar rate then).

If you think you can do it cheaper (under the same conditions) - do it and then come back and we discuss it.
If you think that you can import it for less that 49,95 - do it! I won't nail sidehack on a cross if he'll ship some of the original GekkoScience batch ones to customer in EU.

I did some quick numbers.  I got 20 for 500 usd .  So that is 25 usd a stick.

So I put 3 in a us post office  flat rate box 75 usd and 26 usd to ship = 101 usd= breakeven for me to sell at 101 for 3

your price would be 150 euro from 'Mac'

So if a UK guy buys from me and wants 3 sticks  I need to lie about the value.  If I tell the truth the vat and the import brings it close to  145-165 usd for 3 sticks

165 usd = 150 euro

So to do this from the usa  3 sticks for 101   and I lie for you then you save a few bucks.

And I sold them at cost 101 I make no money plus I lied on the forms.

Euro's vat and import duties are really tough on selling.

So they say you refused the order when in fact they first said they would not send the gear.

So sFards shows true colors here  by fucking with Ermark's order then his coins.

I guess I was lucky to not do an order from them.

So far I have never seen one of these working anywhere.
They are holding up 4.7 coins on an order they delayed.

Good luck to anyone that gets them and if you need RMA  I can see how that goes.

Who was interested into buy the Compac in europe?

check on bitshopper.de,  almost ready

49,95 EUR, that's quite a hefty markup on it!

For less you get a BFL Jalapeno: https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage-new-products/10-gh-s-bitcoin-miner.html Smiley

don't post links to bfl   --------  Grin

but a 10gh piece of gear using 60 watts compared to a 13.5gh  piece of gear using 6 watts  is not a good comparison.

I have 2 sticks that use  about 11 watts and give me 27.0 gh  so these are 20x more power efficient then a Jalapeno
36159  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S5, Spondoolies SP20 or 3 x Antminer S3? on: August 03, 2015, 12:58:29 PM
I was having same questions these days. I'm so unsure about buying new mining equipment. Should I buy Antminer S5 or should I wait S6's to come? My electricity is not cheap.

what is not cheap power?

21 cents a kwatt? = loser  with any gear.  as the power costs more then the coin mined as soon as your start.

so the question is how much do you want to lose.

the lower then 21 cents means more time before power costs kill your profit.

so what is your power cost.

if you tell me 20 cents I would say do not spend much and mine a little.
