When you don't know who's to blame, blame Lazarus and North Korea ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) It turns out that a country where less than 99% of people have access to the internet has the best hackers in the world - and what would happen if the internet was a common thing there? The whole world would probably be hacked ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) It probably helps if the national government protects hackers, instead of arresting them.

If you like reading my post then you can give me merit on this post. If only you would have read the OP: Do not beg for merit excessively. Stuff like this gets you on my ignore list.

If a company processes $23M either daily or weekly, this means they have enough funds to hire experts or procure any security architecture. So why the hack? Large software companies get hacked too. There's simply no expert that can always prevent all problems.

you can actually convert fiats without much of a tax if I am not wrong. It would be nice to do so with bitcoin IMO and benefit from those reductions in costs. This differs per country. We don't pay tax on buying or selling Bitcoin, but we're screwed with an annual wealth tax instead.

Except that is not actually proof of anything. It is hope that A) I don't know the private key, which cannot be proven Although technically correct, it's at the same level as being unable to prove any given Bitcoin address is secure. It's safe to assume neither you or me will ever know the private key to for instance 1oeLeoxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxzqxUMm. B) no one will ever know the private key, which also cannot be proven. Just like you can't prove nobody will ever reproduce your private keys. You can't prove it, but you know it will never happen anyway. If you want a proof of burn, then use OP_RETURN. Still, that's less obvious to the average user. Seeing 1CounterpartyXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUWLpVr on a block explorer makes it instantly clear how much Bitcoin was burned wasted. OP_RETURN is less obvious to find.
Maybe we should call it "proof of waste" instead of "proof of burn".

The U.S. Federal Reserve has launched a long-awaited service which will aim to modernize the country’s payment system by eventually allowing everyday Americans to send and receive funds in seconds, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the central bank announced on Thursday. It took them long enough. Europeans have been doing that for many, many years!

It might because that much money are the inflows and the outflows made by the payment processor on a daily basis? Still, that shouldn't be a reason to keep all of it in a hot wallet. Every local supermarket here doesn't put large banknotes in the cash register, but instantly drops it into a safe. I'd expect payment processors to use the digital equivalent of this.

Lenders: I'd like to add this: Out of character loan requests:Watch for loan requests from users you wouldn't expect it from. If, for example, I would ask for a large loan, don't jump at the opportunity! I've never asked for a loan before, and this should be treated as a big red flag. Then again, a user who often takes loans might be building up for bigger and bigger loans, so that's not an ideal scenario either. Even if he isn't planning for an exit scam, at some point he may no longer be able to pay back all loans. We call that "filling one hole with another".

I'm surprised they keep that much money in hot wallets. In my mind, hot wallets are only meant for amounts you can afford to lose. It makes me wonder how much money they process if they consider this "pocket change".

The way to do it would be vary the checksum at the end to find an address that fits the long prefix and the validity. Easier: Proof of Burn generator.

The point is that it does not make much sense to claim with one of your accounts that you will not ask for a loan on this forum while, at the same time, asking for a loan with your alt account. Did you inform LoyceV of that fact when you asked him for a neutral tag? I didn't know this when he requested a neutral tag. LoyceV himself did the same thing and said I will never request from my alt and if I ever request will be from my main loyce and I will sign a message if you don't like the concept go tag him. I think you're mixing up a few things. For starters, I made it obvious LoyceMobile is my alt. By the way, I find the negative feedback you left on my profile to be factually incorrect (as I am fully capable of reading full sentences and I can prove it), lacking valid references, and an abuse of the trust system. I recommend reading LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system. Agreed. @CryptoHFs: it's off-topic here (and considering how much drama there is, you should probably create your own Reputation thread for this), but you should reconsider your Trust abuse on Stalker22.

all my private keys was stored on the hard drive I guess that teaches you to make backups. Seriously though: I don't believe any of this.

Users receive clean bitcoins with no Dark history Says who? There is no consensus about what "clean" or "dirty" means. There are companies that sell this idea for a profit, and it's in their interest to convince people like you that their services have value. They don't even share their criteria. What if you discover after accepting it that a "clean" coin was used for bad things nobody knew about at the time? You can never be absolutely sure what happened in the past. The "taint" BS is an attack on Bitcoin's fungibility, which means any Bitcoin user should oppose this as it's a threat to everything Bitcoin stands for. Bitcoin can't exist if some coins are worth less than others. Start analyzing the history of dollar bills, and you'll find cocaine on almost all of them. Try to refuse them at a bank, and demand clean bills. See what happens.

In 2050, someone created a Bitcoin wallet and generated an address, coincidentally, the address is the same address which I have sent Bitcoin in 2023. Won't he get the Bitcoin? My bad that I'm still confused despite having two great explanations above. It would be cool if you would explain in theory instead of applying technical terms ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) That's possible right now! Just create a new Electrum wallet, and it gets you 20 addresses, for which it instantly checks the balance. They'll be empty. It's always fun to do the math though. There are 2^160 potential addresses. Your wallet checks 20. No wait, do better, set up a system for brute-forcing addresses. You're checking 1 trillion addresses per second. For 10 years. There are currently 47,577,222 funded Bitcoin addresses (I'm ignoring the different types, just to make it more likely to find one). That means there's a 1 in 97407774 trillion (2^160/1000000000000/3600/24/365/10/47577222=) chance of finding a funded address during those 10 years of brute-forcing. Many of the addresses only contain dust, but that doesn't matter, you're just not going to find one. But what about pirate treasures? I guess there must be thousands of hidden treasures all over the world. But let's take a conservative guess, and only search for the top 10. The earth's surface area is 510072 billion square meter. Now let's pick a random coordinate, and start digging (or diving), to excavate a 1 square meter area. Just pick a spot, at random! There's a 1 in 51 trillion chance of finding one of the most valueable treasures on the planet. And it's still 1.9 million times more likely than finding some dust in a Bitcoin wallet after brute-forcing at incredible speed for 10 years! So, instead of thinking about the possibility of finding a funded Bitcoin address, start digging!
"Luck" is a strange thing: people always hope to get lucky, no matter how small the odds are. But when it's bad luck, even when the odds are much more likely, people expect it not to happen to them. Ech year, 2000 people are killed by lightning. That means getting killed by lightning is literally trillions of times more likely than finding a funded Bitcoin address.

OP, it sounds like you don't know what you're doing, which is risky when handling old keys (which potentially hold high value). Start with some security: Don't enter your key anywhere online, and don't enter it in a hot wallet! Before doing anything else, learn how to use offline signing, and figure out what you want to do with your Bitcoin once you've recovered them. There's not really a point in importing your old key into a new hot wallet and then leaving it there.

I do not believe that exe file is clear without anything inside , in this example I do not to see any reason to make exe file for unpack the files which are not 7z - try download and unpack. It's been a long time since I've seen a compressed file with executable extension for extracting it. I wouldn't use it anywhere else than in a VM I'm going to wipe afterwards. Better safe than sorry. I'm using BTCore , but I had on external disc. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) So just redownload it on a local disk ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) No need to risk your funds.

I would like finish my job, , few hours ago my external hard disc fired , and I lost my database. I ordered new and I'm waiting for deliver. In that case: you're not using Bitcoin Core to trust others, right? So just install Bitcoin Core on your system, restore a backup of your wallet.dat, and let it sync. If you're low on disk space, let it prune. With a modern system and decent internet it shouldn't even take too long.

sign messages from my mobile because sometimes when Im out of my home I can't use my pc software for that. I'm curious: why would you need this? I've made Bitcoin payments when I'm not home, but I've never been asked to sign a message. I can't think of a single reason why I would have to do that when I'm on the road.
