I'm just happy that it's stable over $100 for a few weeks now.
3642  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 23, 2013, 01:27:43 AM
Looks like shipment of Singles will begin on 06/01. You could have received your units before 06/15, assuming shipping starts on 1st of the June.

Respectfully, I've been patient since December. Abundantly patient up until March. April came and went. Here we almost through May.

Anyone would be a fool to think they would start shipping Singles en masse starting June 1st, when Jalapeņos have been trickling out at an unpredictable snails pace, since they announced the start of shipping the evening of Sunday March 31st.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=212673.0 - looks like this guy's selling 2 units from 6/23/12, buyers willing to pay 23-25btc currently.  These are for Jalapenos.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=89685.0 Xian had orders at 6/24/12 and 6/25/12 for two singles.  Sad
It seems like the demand is there for units ordered this early.

Of course there is demand. I'm not sure what your point is. You assume Single's are going to be shipping imminently. My patience was running out, and BFL made the decision for me.

If Butterfly Labs delivered in a reasonable amount of time or effectively communicated with their (formerly) loyal ASIC customers who invested a couple thousand dollars in their first two days after product announcement, we would not be in this thread today.

I'm sorry that I'm not the type of person who keeps his mouth shut when he is getting figuratively sodomized.

Is this a new kind of maneuver where idiot A says something stupid, and idiot B backs him up, on said stupidity being essentially valid??
Whatever happened to just admitting you said something incredibly stupid and working on the next stupidity to come in the near future?
Xian01   20   42.02600000   payment/shipping recieved
20 units = 6GH/s - this guy had a 2012 order and blew it big time

Unless BFL never ships. Then he comes out ahead.
Especially if there are not enough funds left in the BFL coffers to refund everyone.

RED - 05-22-2013 11:10 AM

On February 17th, my apartment burned down. A week later I sent an email to Butterfly Labs requesting them to update my address. A month went by and no response. I sent another email. Another month went by and no response. I sent a lot of emails and never ever received a response.

Word came out that people were already receiving their orders so it became critical that my address was correct, so I sent another email stating I would keep phoning until something is fixed. Still no response.

So I phoned. Dave was very rude and dismissed my complaints. Finally a couple days later Jody sends me an email to ask some questions. She starts to update my addresses but makes a mistake with one of them. I was very clear in my email, but because they are receiving so many emails they are apparently not reading the words in them. I emailed back and informed them that the address was incorrect and that they need to read the email again. This was Jody's response: "I changed the address and will not do it again. If your addresses are not correct now we will just refund the order.--Jody" Apparently insisting that my address is correct is far too much to ask of anyone there.

I tried my best to be polite and give LOTS of time and patience because I know how busy they are. Obviously I must be selfish to ask such a thing. Life must be so horrible for these people because they are so busy. I guess I'm a fool to think that losing everything I own to fire is anywhere near as big of a hardship in my life compared to what they are going through. Thanks for the pleasant experience.

I've worked as support and replied to 100's of emails a days for months and months and it's not "Fun" but that's the job. All you have to do is have answers to the general questions available to copy and paste and that takes care of 90% of them.

I'm not sure what they're used to but that's what Customer Service gets paid for. Maybe they are used to sitting around and talking to each other for 50% of the day and this is just a big change that they have to be busy at work, but to take it out on customers and complain and use it as an excuse is not Ok. I suggest that BFL look at RED'a message above mine and see that you are Not living up to your end of the deal AFTER Taking 100% of Customer MONEY then Refusing to put any effort into them.

This is just another sad Fail and as much as I try to just "Let it go" these issues really bother me and they Should bother us All. BFL already has our Money and now they don't feel like holding up their end of the deal w/ things like RED's experience with His apartment buring down. He should Not have to be treated like he's doing something wrong when BFL constantly keeps screwing up and he just wants to have the CORRECT Home address for the product he paid over $1000 for.
3646  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL - butterfly labs - a SAD state of affairs on: May 22, 2013, 03:10:43 PM
I was at the Conference in San Jose and they had working two 30g and a jalapeno hashing away at there table, so I think there pretty close to delivery. Now would be the time to place a order. They said pre-orders would arrive next month and full supply by September.

My God. It's full of shills.

Theymos, could we please get a comment from you about this ? Your prolonged silence is disconcerting Sad

4. You accuse me of ripping off old ladies of their pensions (or at least supporting it)

Is it just me, or is that something Sonny would say, and not wrenchmonkey? The keyword is "me" oppose to "him" or "sonny", for I don't recall anybody accusing you (wrenchmonkey) of ripping off old ladies of their pensions.

Up to this point, it never occurred to me that you're Sonny, though Josh may have crossed my mind a time or two. But now I'm thinkin' differently.

I see on the homepage of BFL that the miniRigs are "out of stock". Well, that seems to me actually as a strong indication that it is no scam, because if it were, why would they  bother to label their highest prized product out of stock.

 You must be new here...
3652  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 21, 2013, 09:48:17 PM
Wow, schizophrenic much? This is like watching Russel Crowe 'decrypt the Russian secrets in the newspapers,' minus the whole 'brilliant human being' part.
I occasionally buy copper Bullion, when I can pick it up below spot. Anybody with two brain cells to rub together knows that bullion is easier to store than coins. Copper is sold by the POUND or more, to most serious buyers, and a pile of 5lb ingots is MUCH easier to store than 5 lbs of pennies.
I call bullshit.   So you "trade" $15 dollar 5lb copper ingots and take physical delivery of them?   BS.  After delivery and return delivery you could not make money.
Both Sonny Vleidises and "Wrenchmonkey" have invested in schemes involving physical copper. Interesting.  Cool

What are the odds ? Very very suspicious indeed.

It works with mac?

I'll test it out on a few Macs as soon as I get my sticks in.
3654  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs on: May 21, 2013, 08:32:13 PM
I have read a lot of people saying this is a scam. But has anyone received they're miner. I was thinking about buying one. But I don't know. I see people selling they're preorders on ebay. Does anyone think it's worth purchasing?

Only a few Jalapeno's have been shipped out. Mostly to media outlets, developers, and BFL forum moderators.

A trickle of Jalapeno's are starting to flow to customers.

As to worth purchasing, I would advise you to read these forums a bit more and make an independent decision on whether or not you wish to deal with them. The thread in my signature is a good start.
3655  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 21, 2013, 05:34:39 PM
You don't think that him (and others like him) turning up in every thread that mentions BFL in order to spread FUD and vitriol impacts their business? REEEEALY?  Roll Eyes

Go try and run a restaurant with people pissing all over the windows all the time, and see how that works out for you.
Except your "restaurant" has 1,000's of customers who are hungry and have been waiting for 11 months for their food. The restroom is full of urine and feces, the storeroom is full, the waiting area is full, the only place to "relieve" one's self IS on the windows.

Analogy fail.

The BFL debacle is not like any other normal business scenario.

Thank you for this analogy. It is quite apropos and right on the mark.

EDIT: And lets not forget that the reason I lost my cool is over how their COO was taunting their loyal and, until recently, patient customers, right here on these very forums. Additionally, while making claims that these forums are not important to their business, they are continuing attempting to advertise here.

Houston would float grand plans for get rich schemes, but was shaky with the details. Like the time he returned to Las Vegas in June of 1980 to seek investors in a scam to gather millions of pennies.

Dude... Your sleuthing skills terrify me sometimes.

That node has looked like that for as long as I can remember (basically since that particular map was first created).
It's because it isn't a single person/pool, it is the "other" category that centers itself on the country.  I read the whole thread and nobody seemed to pick up on this.  Basically, if the software that generates that graph can't locate the true position it lumps it all into a bar on the center of the country.  It is always the largest bar.

Good to know. I never did take that graphic as anything other than a conspiracy theory (read: No way BFL would be able to create a blip that large).

Have never really paid attention to the map before, so the historical context is appreciated.

Thank you. We trashed two other concepts to choose this one. It has a sexy see through acrylic window on top. It will be stackable on two sides.

With that acrylic window, it's just begging for a blue (or perhaps adjustable color) LED to light that shit up on the inside ! ... but anyway, looking forward to following this project Wink
