not sure if it is bad or good for coins but it sure as fuck is interesting.
yup.

may turn into the equivalent of altcoin profit switching. massive amounts of hash power flipping back and forth as miners use autopilot profit calculating programs to run their farms.
3662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1070 8GB card. Suggestions Please on: August 21, 2017, 05:11:22 PM
thanks for the reply. since i am a newbie, i need some clarification. Is it possible to mine 2 currencies at the same time? Does it use a single miner to mine both or do we use 2 miners, one for each? Please explain.

start reading here. its claymores dual miner thread.

3663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Releases Driver for DAG Issue !!! on: August 21, 2017, 11:48:40 AM
Did it worked with win 7 , any confirmations?!

no.

on win7 either blank screen or if you get far enough claymore 9.8 exits at pool prompt.

Any word on if the coin splitting tool now works without any additional tweaks or command line modifications?

what should I do first? security update or claiming bcash?

yes it works.

split out my bcc yesterday.

update the firmware to the latest 1st, then head to https://beta-wallet.trezor.io/

follow these instructions: https://blog.trezor.io/claim-bcash-bitcoin-cash-bch-bcc-trezor-wallet-f0a810d5864a
3665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asus Launches Mining Motherboard supporting 19 cards - this is getting absurd on: August 20, 2017, 08:02:50 AM
it wont work my boy, most cpu support 16/32 pcie lines, and amd threadripper only support 64pcie lines, core i9 only 44 pcie lines

they use plx chips to split the lanes. entirely doable.
3666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASrock H110 Pro BTC+ 13 GPU Board on: August 20, 2017, 08:00:23 AM
is mining possible on motherboard that contains lga 775 slot supports only ddr2 800mhz  upto4gb

yes. you will want the full 4 gb.

If someone wins this time, you should update your Trezor firmware as soon as you get it. They've fixed a recently found vulnerability.

The vulnerability requires physical access to the device and cracking open the case, so it's not that earth shattering. But it's still worth doing.

I updated mine as soon as it was available.

just updated mine today, mainly to split the bcc out.

whoever wins this, trezor is probably the best hardware wallet you can get.
3668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.8 (Windows/Linux) on: August 19, 2017, 01:37:23 PM
I have 4xRX 480 using Claymore v9.8 (also with v9.7) is crashing in Windows 7 (x64) with AMD Blockchain drivers. Anyone else has similar problem?

EDIT: I followed recommended steps as follows:
1) uninstalled MSI Afterburner in normal mode
2) using DDU to clean up drivers in safe mode
3) installed Blockchain drivers in normal mode
4) patched newly installed drivers in normal mode
5) restarted my rig
6) run claymore without OC
7) got message "Windows closed this program"

yes, i basically did the exact steps you did, claymore 9.8 exits at the pool prompt. win7 did recognize all cards.

seems win7 users are out of luck on this one. not going to switch to win 10, not worth the effort at this point.

Exactly. Considering what others are facing its not worth it to switch to win 10 just for this. Hope this beta gets an update or claymore does.

a fresh windows 10 install with all the updates/drivers/setup is less than an hour btw. Just backup all your mining programs and their batch file before.

I'll wait for another Claymore update before "upgrading" to Win10. I hope the problem is in Claymore miner and not in drivers. AMD wrote that they will not update blockchain drivers anymore.

same here. even win10 with this blockchain driver has issues (settings not sticking, power draw etc). i only have a few polaris cards, rest are 390s and a 1070 which are not affected.

if the win10 problems are ever straightened out ill consider it then.

seems like one of the better though out mining boards. 3 molex for pcie slots, 3 atx psu connectors. seems like you could make a cleaner setup on that board.
3671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Releases Driver for DAG Issue !!! on: August 18, 2017, 06:04:17 PM
Massive power use increase here also. So much so my R9 295X2 cards started melting all their wires, and my hash rate did not improve at all. Will have to roll back.

I highly recommend you don't install these on a 295X2 based rig.

So it will not work on the R9 390 cards as well.

390s do not suffer from the dag issue. so no need for the new blockchain driver, its for polaris/vega.
3672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1 summary on: August 18, 2017, 06:01:49 PM
Say, do I really have to sync the entire blockchain when installing the BCH wallet? That's pretty damn massive... -.-

if you saved a copy of the original btc blockchain prior to aug 1st, you can use that as a starting point for the bcc wallet. the chains were identical at that point. bcc will then sync from there. save ya 160 gigs or so.
3673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Releases Driver for DAG Issue !!! on: August 17, 2017, 06:33:18 PM

I too could not get official driver to work with Win7

same here.. uninstall afterburner and delete settings, ddu, install driver, patch, win7 comes up recognizing all cards, but claymore 9.8 exits at the pool prompt.

Hi George.

1st thanks for this thread, your taking time for this is much appreciated.

my question is as far as i know the irs clarified its rules in bitcoin in 2014 for tax purposes.. what rules were in place before this clarification? such as mined coins being treated as income?

Great question that I don't know the answer to. Time for me to research.

well i guess i shouldnt feel too bad that i couldnt find the answer on my own then Smiley

anything you find and can share i will greatly appreciate. last thing i want is the irs after me since i have done bitcoin taxes according to their rules since 2014. if i have to refile stuff prior to 2014 well so be it.
3675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethash DAG epoch RX470/480/570/580 FIX !! on: August 16, 2017, 01:01:59 PM
ill stick it on my win7 eth rig later today. thats got a 390, 2x470, 460 and 1070 on it currently with 16.11.3 driver for the amds. be interesting how it fairs in a mixed rig.

get yourself prepared for a black or a blue screen Cheesy

heh.

no worries i do a complete disk image with macrium reflect free before doing things like this. if she takes a digger i just reimage back to what i had before. takes maybe 10 minutes to revert.

makes experiments like this almost fun..
3676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethash DAG epoch RX470/480/570/580 FIX !! on: August 16, 2017, 11:24:45 AM

are you talking about the AMD blockchain fix driver?.

Yes

Cool!.. on the other hand,

"This driver is provided as a beta level support driver which should be considered "as is" and will not be supported with further updates, upgrades or bug fixes."
does this mean that this is the final driver?...

well is intended for mining only, says "not for gaming" so really why need to update it if all it does it fix the dag memory issue for polaris cards? be the last driver most of us with 4x0/5x0 cards will need.

ill stick it on my win7 eth rig later today. thats got a 390, 2x470, 460 and 1070 on it currently with 16.11.3 driver for the amds. be interesting how it fairs in a mixed rig.

3680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why wouldnt a government create its own asic to 51% bitcoin? on: August 15, 2017, 03:45:02 PM
No, no, there have been some crossed wires here.  The claim is that deisik knows with certainty that the Russian government want to make profit (which is a fair assumption, I suppose).  However, deisik doesn't know with certainty how they plan on achieving that goal, but suspects it's not going to be Bitcoin.  It sounds as though deisik is saying they could conceivably allocate some of their fiat budget to investigating the possibilities and, even if nothing came of it, that research money in and of itself would still be profitable for someone (not that they necessarily are doing that research, just that they could).

Even if there were a government planning on getting involved with large-scale mining operations, which seems unlikely to begin with, announcing such a project publicly would be a likelihood even more remote.  There isn't any real profit in a 51% attack, which is probably why no governments have attempted it.  But someone somewhere is probably spending a boatload of money in research to learn that obvious-to-us fact the hard way.

ah thanks for the correction.

as for 51% attacking (my premise) there is not real profit, its to control and kill it. would cost scads of money but what is money to a government? just print more up to kill btc and then your fiat is safe again.
