Another Bangladesh player is suspended for 2 years, Qazi Onik was caught by the anti doping for using Methamphetamine. The youngsters are getting caught for doping and it is a situation the authorities have to study.

Is this true?

If this news is confirmed, then it is very serious. For those who don't know, Methamphetamine is not a performance enhancing drug. It is a recreational drug, similar to heroin, cocaine and LSD. In many of the countries, the possession of Methamphetamine is a severe criminal offense. For example in Singapore if you are caught with more than 250 grams of Meth, then you may get the death penalty. I am not sure about the case with Bangladesh, but in many of the Asian countries the possession of Meth is punishable by death. It looks like this guy got a 2 years suspension instead of a prison term, or even capital punishment. He is very lucky.

BTW, I heard that Bangladesh is suffering from a spike in Meth addiction. Myanmar remains the no.1 Meth producer in the world, and the tablets are smuggled in to Bangladesh by criminal gangs mostly operated by the Rohingyas.
3662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scammers are back with another trick. Be alert!!! on: July 28, 2020, 05:02:28 AM
This particular method seems to be very popular with the scammers here in the cryptocurrency sector. The most surprising thing is that despite the repetitiveness, a lot of people are getting scammed. By the time we report the videos/posts and get them offline, users might have already lost a lot of their hard earned money. Why this method is used to target cryptocurrency users so often? Is it because the level of greed is higher?
3663  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Guns - Why do we need them? on: July 28, 2020, 04:52:02 AM
If in the state you have to defend yourself, then this is a bad state. If you need it to demonstrate strength and express your will to the government, this is again a bad state. If for the sake of demonstrating "coolness", then you do not understand life.

Gun control is not possible in the United States, because they have very high rates of violent crime, especially home invasion. If you don't own a gun, then it is like asking for your death. On the other hand, countries such as Australia and New Zealand have very strict gun ownership laws. They can afford that, because crimes such as home invasion are very rare in these countries. Ultimately, it depends whether the government is able to protect you or not. If they are unable to do that, then you don't have any choice other than owning a gun to protect yourself.
3664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India may again ban cryptocurrency on: July 28, 2020, 04:40:11 AM
I doubt the Indian government will ban cryptocurrency in its current condition, which is India the third-largest country in the world
as the country with the most corona virus-infected populations. With the cryptocurrency can help prevent the spread of corona virus,
because cryptocurrency transactions don't need physical contact. Judging from the population of India who need income, then with
crypto can be a solution to get a source of income for Indian citizens. With the benefits provided by cryptocurrency for Indians it will be
difficult for the Indian government to be banned against cryptocurrency.

What sort of absurd logic is this?

Quote
With the cryptocurrency can help prevent the spread of corona virus

Seriously? Is Cryptocurrency some magic drug like Hydroxychloroquine, which can fight the Coronavirus?

In India, there are a lot of legal payment methods available, which doesn't need any physical contact. I am talking about the mobile banking services offered by almost all the public/private sector banks in India and about the mobile wallets such as PayTM and Amazon Pay. Now what makes you think that the Indian government would prefer Bitcoin, which is yet to be fully legalized in India ahead of the other legal options?

Windies team are able to survive the whole 4th day and the score stands 10/2. They will be hoping to see another rainy day tomorrow and will be happy to see this match end in a draw. If England gets 50 overs to bowl tomorrow, they will surely win the match easily.

With just 8 wickets remaining, I don't think that West Indies is going to survive if there is no rain interruption today. But if there is rain interruption and 20-30 overs are lost, then the chances are that this match may end up as a draw. Two of the English bowlers are not in good form (Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes) and Ben Stokes may not be able to bowl. That means that there is going to be a lot of pressure on the two in-form bowlers (Stuart Broad and James Anderson). It is not going to be easy for England.
3666  Economy / Economics / Re: Europe’s economy is moving faster than US economy - Covid-19 effect!!! on: July 28, 2020, 04:20:09 AM
I'd rather believe that Yuan is more capable of replacing the dollar currency than Euro, the data is just a short-term data every conclusion made based on this is more likely to fail.

LOL.. The CNY is one of the most manipulated currencies in the world. The Chinese government devalues the currency every now and then, to help the exporters within their country. Even their best friends, such as Russia and Iran are not comfortable in using CNY for trade between them and China. The Chinese are trying hard to make the CNY the currency of global trade. But that is not going to happen anytime soon.
3667  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might never reach it's ATH anymore on: July 28, 2020, 04:10:03 AM
Right now, we see the new ATH for bitcoin price because the price can reach $11k, and we will see another high price, and that could be the next new ATH. Who knows that the price can still have more power to go up, but we must be careful because the correction will come after the price reaches the high price. People need to get out for a while if the correction so they can buy back bitcoin again at a low price.

Actually we were expecting a similar spike in mid-May, when the block reward halving kicked in. For some unknown reason, the block reward halving didn't resulted in any spike back then. A number of reasons were given, such as the impact from the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. But now I guess the impact of the block reward halving is starting to be felt at the market. And I hope that the current trend will continue for the next few months.
3668  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quality War ( Europe vs China and India ) on: July 28, 2020, 04:00:27 AM
But they have narrowed their gap with the Korean brands, such as LG and Samsung. I have used Chinese (Xiaomi) and Korean (LG) brands, and I can confirm this.
It is true that Chinese products really raised the bar in that budget/best buy segment, and they do offer a lot for the money. I personally use few Xiaomi products (scale, Xiaomi Mi Box and Smartphone) and I am generally satisfied with the quality, especially considering the price, their products are really good value for the money. But if I want top quality, I have to look elsewhere. At least for now, unless they tackle that part of the market too. I remember times when Samsung phones were considered crappy and cheap, when Nokia ruled the market, and we can see now how situation changed.

If you are talking about the smartphone sector, then no other brand can give you the same quality that Apple (iPhone) offers. So if you want the best quality, then you go for this American brand. Xiaomi started off as a budget smartphone brand. But they have rapidly expanded in to the other niches. I haven't got a chance to use Mi Note 10 till now, but I have heard very good reviews for that phone. Same with their TVs as well. My friend is using their 65 inch 4k UHD TV and he's quite satisfied with the quality.
3669  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Black Crimes Matter on: July 28, 2020, 03:50:05 AM
So, you are offended by the word "we." Are you really saying that you want them to stay? Obviously, they want to stay. Besides, Africa doesn't want them back.

Cool

It would be wrong to say that Africa doesn't want them back. African Americans are much more educated and they have much higher living standards, when compared to those countries from where they originated (Nigeria, Angola, Ghana.etc). If a section of them migrate back to these countries, then it will greatly benefit the economy and healthcare sector of those countries. During the 19th century, a small number of African Americans actually made the journey back to Africa, and settled in Liberia and Sierra Leone.

As far as I know, very few of the African Americans would like to migrate to any country other than the United States. They went through a lot of hardships, in order to become eligible for the US nationality. So why should they renounce it?

3670  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Black Crimes Matter on: July 27, 2020, 06:02:14 AM
who do you mean with "we" slaves where owned only by a tiny fraction of white americans, and eastern european immigrants never had anything to do with it.

besides, slavery flourishes today in africa, and it exists one way or the other anyway.

Contemporary slavery exists in a number of territories and regions, and Africa is not the only place where you can find it. Bondage labor (indentured servitude) is common in countries such as Pakistan and India and it is almost the same as slavery. But that doesn't take away historical wrongdoings. At least a section of the American public (including small numbers of African Americans and Native Americans) owned slaves.

But then, it is surprising to see only the Europeans getting vilified for their association with slave trade. I am not denying the fact that they played a large part. But in terms of absolute number, it was the Arabs who traded the largest number of slaves. But I haven't seen many people blaming them for the past atrocities. One reason may be that Arabs mostly dealt with female slaves and castrated male slaves, and very few descendants of these slaves survive in the Arab nations.
3671  Economy / Economics / Re: Will India be more progressive in the coming years? on: July 27, 2020, 05:52:09 AM
From what I do know about India's current state of things, in regards to cryptocurrency is that it's pretty bleak. Though it's currently legal, the government certainly isn't for it.  However I think like all things, eventually the country will come around when the "youth" takes over.  As for anything in this world I think most countries are ran by "non-internet era" baby boomers and that is starting to change. With that change comes the youth movement which is much more accepting of these types of technologies.

Although I am not an Indian citizen, I am a regular traveler to India and I know how the system works there. At least regarding the cryptocurrency, the lawmakers (regardless of the political affiliation) are more or less neutral. They are not overly opposed to it, or in support of it. The problem is with some of the bureaucrats who help in formulating the government policy. Some of these guys do have issues with cryptocurrency and they regularly urge the lawmakers to adopt tougher measures against crypto trading. Fortunately till now, the government has ignored them. But overall, the cryptocurrency users in India face a lot of harassment and lack of clarity related to tax liability and legality.
3672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia legalizing Bitcoin and cryptos but not allowed as payment method? on: July 27, 2020, 05:42:10 AM
It is just like informing the country about cryptocurrencies.

If they don't allow it as a payment method, I guess they are wanting to introduce it as an asset, I guess that is why they are also letting their local to create cryptocurrencies. That is my opinion though.

I guess they will end up like China, where Bitcoin is not allowed for payments and trading between fiat cash and cryptocurrency is not allowed. I wasn't expecting much anyway, because it will be too much to expect if we want Russia to have laws similar to Japan or South Korea regarding cryptocurrency. But then, if Bitcoin becomes 100% legal in Russia, then I hope that it will being much relief for the cryptocurrency users, who face a lot of uncertainty regarding the tax issues.
3673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 27, 2020, 05:32:28 AM
The Lions won the match in 34.4 overs chasing a score of 296 and that sums up everything we are expecting to see in the upcoming match. Jason Roy went for a duck but Phil Salt a player i am hearing about the first time scored a century and he looks like a future prospect for England.

Just shows the complete destruction of the Ireland squad. This squad is no way near the Ireland side which humiliated the Brits during the 2011 cricket world cup. Looking at the scorecard, it looks like a bloodbath. Most of the Irish bowlers conceded around 10 runs per over. If this is how they perform against a Lions squad, then how they are going to take on the England senior side? Their batting is still OK, thanks to the presence of experienced players such as Paul Stirling, Kevin O'Brien and William Porterfield. But the bowling looks pathetic, especially after the retirement of Tim Murtagh.
3674  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic situation declining and famous celebs not paying workers on: July 27, 2020, 05:22:19 AM
Celebrity and entertainment do not know how to manage their money, always looks like they will be on the top and never try to make passive income when their popularity have gone, I know with many celebrity does not exist again have begin with zero after lost all popularity and they left by fans and their family.

Sometimes when people get rich all of a sudden, they lose their common sense. Just look at the case of Jack Whittaker, who won the then largest jackpot ever in the history of Powerball in 2002 ($314.9 million). After they become rich, several members of his family died from drug overdose and other unnatural deaths. Whittaker himself was involved in several criminal cases including DUI. He died last month, at the age of 72. I am not just taling about lottery jackpot winners. Look at the celebrities such as Chyna (wrestler), Amy Winehouse, Prince and Whitney Houston.
3675  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: July 27, 2020, 05:12:07 AM
"Illegal immigrants" can't vote, they are illegally there, hell they practically can't even let anyone know they are there, they have to keep quite about it, in order to vote you have to register to vote, how can an illegal immigrant can register to vote if they are illegal?

Illegal immigrants can't vote. That's true. But anchor babies can vote when they become 18 years of age and then they can sponsor their parents as well. Eventually, the entire family becomes US citizens and everyone can vote in the elections. The current wave of illegal invasion started in the 1970s. Most of the first generation illegals have become US citizens by now.

And I don't agree with the argument that illegals need to hide their status. There are sanctuary cities all over the United States (hundreds of them), where it is not possible for the immigration authorities to detain or deport any of the illegals.
3676  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quality War ( Europe vs China and India ) on: July 27, 2020, 05:01:09 AM
I beg to disagree.

While Hisense, TCL and Xiaomi are decent TVs, especially in the budget range, if you want top quality, you will still go for Samsung, LG and Sony (not necessarily in that order of quality). Those Chinese brands still can't match them.
Here in Europe people are still mostly buying those proven brands, while only those that that are looking for budget options go for Hisense and other similar budget friendly brands.

While situation on TV market can certainly change in the coming years, I still hope that those top brands will survive and won't end up like Pioneer and Panasonic, who once had best TVs on the market but people rather chose cheap crappy lcds instead quality.

In Europe/US people are going to prefer local/Japanese/Korean brands instead of the cheap Chinese brands. But in developing nations such as India, the Chinese brands now have a near-complete monopoly in the electronics market (TVs, mobile phones.etc). And one thing that I would say is that the Chinese brands will never be able to compete with Japanese brands such as Sony and Panasonic. But they have narrowed their gap with the Korean brands, such as LG and Samsung. I have used Chinese (Xiaomi) and Korean (LG) brands, and I can confirm this.
3677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 27, 2020, 04:51:14 AM
The dip in batting form happened after Stuart broad was hit in the head by a Varun Aaron bouncer and broke his nose in 2014 and after that he himself said he lost his confidence in batting and in this series he wanted to perform again with the bat and he was training especially to change his batting and to start attacking rather than defense and it worked.

Thanks for posting this. I wasn't following cricket very closely in 2014 (I was out of job then), and I might have missed this incident. He is just one wicket away from becoming the 7th bowler to take 500 or more test wickets (the only other English bowler to have this achievement is also playing in this test - James Anderson). I remember Broad stating as a genuine allrounder. Then all of a sudden, I saw him batting at no.10 and no.11 slots. Even in this test match, he was given the no.10 slot.

If the BCCI want to conduct the IPL 2020 in a safe country, then they would have gone for Sri Lanka or negotiated with the New Zealand Cricket Board. There have been no locally transmitted cases in these countries for the last few months. But they have gone with the United Arab Emirates. Now I smell something fishy with this move. One of the reasons may be that there is no income tax or corporate tax in the UAE. The players are going to receive their full salary, without any tax deduction. The franchises are also going to be happy, as they don't have to pay any tax on their revenue. But the presence of match fixing syndicates in Sharjah and some of the other emirates worry me.
3679  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The U.S. Senate is hearing about the digital dollar. on: July 27, 2020, 04:30:11 AM
So, they already believe that bitcoin is better than the dollar.  Grin

By default, a decentralized currency (doesn't necessarily have to be a cryptocurrency) which is protected against inflation is going to be better when compared to centralized currencies which are prone to inflation. So I am not surprised by their admission of this fact. The federal reserve continues to print banknotes like crazy, and this further weakens the value of the United States Dollar. Gold is now trading at >$1,900 per oz, and it just shows how weak the USD has become in recent times.

And almost all the other fiat currencies in the world are influenced by the value and purchasing power of the USD. So when USD goes down, they also goes down. It is similar to the case of altcoins in the cryptocurrency market.
3680  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Black Americans are hypocrites, claims black lives matter but hate on Africans. on: July 26, 2020, 04:17:52 PM
Can't agree with the OP. I am not an American, but I guess I have enough knowledge on the subject to post a reply here.

First of all, African Americans and Africans are not the same people. African Americans may be predominantly African by blood, but they have significant amounts of European, Native American and Asian ancestry as well. Many of the African Americans, such as Barack Obama and Booker T. Washington would be regarded as non-African, if they travel to that continent.

And I have never seen any concrete evidence to the claim that African Americans discriminate against those from Africa. Most of the African immigrants in the United States live in predominantly African American neighborhoods and intermarry with them. On the other hand, African tribes discriminate against each other on a frequent basis. Look at Rwanda. 1 million people were butchered in 1994, just because they belonged to the Nilotic race instead of the majority Bantu race. Genocides are common in DRC, due to infighting between the Nilotic and Bantu tribes. And in the Sahel region, tens of thousands die every year, as a result of warfare between the agricultural tribes and the pastoral tribes.
